Pelipper is an essential Pokemon for rain Water teams thanks to its Drizzle ability, as well as the utility it provides through U-turn and Defog. Hurricane is Pelipper's STAB move of choice, hitting Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Zarude. Scald is another STAB option to hit other weather setters and Electric-types such as Hippowdon, Tyranitar, and Tapu Koko on the switch, as well as spreading burns. U-turn helps Pelipper safely bring in its teammates, while Roost keeps it healthy throughout a match. Heavy-Duty Boots prevents Stealth Rock from wearing Pelipper down, allowing it to set rain consistently.

Most Pokemon on Water teams appreciate Pelipper setting rain and checking Grass-types. Swift Swim users, including Barraskewda, Kingdra, and Seismitoad, can decimate offensive teams under rain with their high Speed and high-powered STAB moves. Seismitoad can also double as an Electric sponge and Stealth Rock setter, but these roles can also be covered by Swampert, which has Flip Turn to further preserve momentum and greater bulk to survive Grass Knot from the likes of Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu. Urshifu-R appreciates rain making its Surging Strikes even harder to switch into, and it helps break past walls such as Ferrothorn. Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker that can help break through defensive cores in types like Psychic and Poison while also threatening frailer Pokemon with rain-boosted Aqua Jet. Slowking switches into Freeze-Dry users such as Kyurem and Alolan Ninetales for Pelipper. Toxapex alleviates pressure on Pelipper to check difficult Grass-types like Rillaboom, Zarude, and Tapu Bulu. Both Slowking and Toxapex can also provide momentum with Teleport and Eject Button, respectively, which is crucial to bring in rain sweepers, and this is also why other pivots like Swampert and Barraskewda are valued so highly.

mention pex for eject button and it checks cm fini and slowing for tport. (you can generalize ebutton+tport for momentum). a line even about momentum: flip turn/turn/teleport/eject button would be nice as it tells the reader its pretty much glue on rain teams to bring teammates in

no need to say "opposing" in c&c

[OVERVIEW]

Water
========
Pelipper is a quintessential Pokemon for rain Water teams thanks to its Drizzle ability, as well as the utility it provides through U-turn and Defog. With Drizzle, Pelipper enables Swift Swim users in Barraskewda, Kingdra, and Seismitoad and other powerful wallbreakers such as Urshifu-R and Crawduant to break through opposing teams. Pelipper can also safely bring these Pokemon in with U-turn and remove hazards for them with Defog, making it useful outside of just setting up rain. While Pelipper is an irreplaceable asset on rain teams, its weakness to common threats to Water teams, Electric-types and Freeze Dry users, means that it requires further support to be effective. (add which support specifically?)

Hurricane is Pelipper's STAB move of choice, hitting Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Zarude. Scald is another STAB option to hit Electric- and Rock-types such as Tapu Koko and Tyranitar as well as spread burns. (mention it also deters opposing weather setters like Hippowdon, ur never staying in vs Koko or Ttar anyway I think? They'll kill Pelipper. Koko/Ttar mention is very weird imo ;w;) U-turn helps Pelipper to safely bring in its teammates, while Roost keeps it healthy thoughout throughout a the match. Defog allows Pelipper to remove hazards. Scald is another STAB option to hit Electric- and Rock-types such as Tapu Koko and Tyranitar as well as spread burns. (rearranged) Heavy-Duty Boots prevents Pelipper from being worn down by Stealth Rock, allowing it to set rain multiple times in a match.

Most Pokemon on Water teams appreciate Pelipper's ability to set rain and check Grass-types. Swift Swim abusers, including Barraskewda, Kingdra, and Seismitoad, can take advantage of Pelipper's rain the best by decimating offensive teams under Rain with their high speed and high-powered STAB moves. Seismitoad can also double as an Electric immunity and Stealth Rock setter, but this role can also be covered by Swampert, which has Flip Turn to further preserve momentum and greater bulk to live Grass Knot from the likes of Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu. Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker that can help break defensive cores in types like Psychic and Poison while also threatening frailer Pokemon with Rain-boosted Aqua Jet. Urshifu-R appreciates Rain support to make its Surging Strikes even harder to switch into, while also helping break walls such as Ferrothorn. Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker that can help break defensive cores in types like Psychic and Poison while also threatening frailer Pokemon with Rain-boosted Aqua Jet (rearranged to reflect viability). Slowking switches into Freeze-Dry users such as Kyurem and Alolan Ninetales for Pelipper. Toxapex is another option to alleviate Pressure on Pelipper to check difficult Grass-types like Rillaboom, Zarude, and Tapu Bulu. Both Slowking and Toxapex can also provide momentum with Teleport and Eject Button, respectively, which is crucial to bring in Rain abusers, and is also why other pivots like Swampert and Barraskewda are valued so highly.

(Scarf Peli not good ;-;)
Checks and Counters

Water
--------
**Special Wallbreakers**: Powerful Special wallbeakers such as Tapu Lele, Hydreigon, and Kyurem can threaten Pelipper easily because of its middling special bulk.

**Weather Setters**: Tyranitar and Alolan Ninetales switch into Pelipper, changing the weather and threatening it with Rock Blast and Freeze-Dry, respectively. Torkoal can also switch into Pelipper, but does not have much to threaten Pelipper in return.

**Status** (Toxic looks annoying because ur forced to roost)

(would also add offensive pressure, like Peli doesnt really like to take damage, if at all because weather setting is hard esp vs Ground mono where the opposing mons can kill Peli, and if they win the weather war...its bad)
