Monotype Pelipper (Water)

[OVERVIEW]

Water
========

Pelipper's ability Drizzle is a blessing to rain teams, as it single-handedly enables them to function. Pelipper's Flying typing along with a Hurricane that does not miss in rain allows it to deal with problematic Grass-types, most notably Mega Venusaur, as well as Fighting- and Bug-types. Its high Base Power STAB moves allow it to have a threatening offensive presence with Choice Specs and rip through many common walls like Celesteela, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex. Pelipper's decent defensive typing also allows it to run a defensive set despite its lackluster bulk to check some physical threats such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Gallade. However, it should be noted that Pelipper's offensive sets are incredibly frail due to the lack of investment in bulk. Coupled with its low Speed, offensive Pelipper is unable to reliably check faster threats like Mega Diancie and Terrakion. While it is valued as a Defogger, having to switch into entry hazards to remove them makes Pelipper rather unreliable due to its weakness to Stealth Rock. Thus, despite being a staple on rain teams, Pelipper is very underwhelming, making it hard to justify using outside of rain-oriented teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Hurricane allows Pelipper to eliminate walls that rain teams generally have a hard time breaking through such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex. Hydro Pump helps Pelipper deal massive damage to walls such as Mega Sableye, Porygon2, and Celesteela. U-turn allows Pelipper to act as a pivot to gain momentum and give teammates a free switch. Defog lets Pelipper help the team clear entry hazards such as Sticky Web, which hinders even Swift Swim users. It also clears Stealth Rock to let Pelipper switch in more often without worry.

Set Details
========

Drizzle supports the team with rain while boosting Pelipper's own moves. Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Pelipper to be as fast as possible. 252 EVs in Special Attack with Choice Specs allow Pelipper to hit as hard as possible. A Modest nature can also be used to hit harder, but then Pelipper fails to outspeed threats like Adamant Tapu Bulu.

Usage Tips
========

Pelipper should be used early to dismantle opposing defensive cores with Hurricane + Hydro Pump, a move combination unresisted by most of the metagame. Getting rain up early also enables teammates such as Mega Swampert and Kingdra to become immediate threats. Send Pelipper in whenever rain ends to continue supporting Pokemon that can take advantage of it. Keep Pelipper alive to get as many rain turns as possible, especially in matchups like Electric, where Drizzle support is the key to winning. U-turn should be used on expected switches to gain momentum or switch out on slower foes like Cradily and Tyranitar that heavily pressure Pelipper. Keeping track of remaining rain turns is vital to the success of rain teams. Avoid switching Pelipper in when there is still a turn of rain up, as this essentially wastes its Drizzle and may lead to it taking unnecessary damage. That said, Pelipper works best with rain, so do not be afraid to utilize it while rain is up. Avoid sacrificing Pelipper early unless the remaining rain turns can help teammates win the game. Switch into Stealth Rock users that Pelipper can force out such as Swampert and Hippowdon to use Defog without having to take damage from Stealth Rock. Avoid getting statused, as any chip damage can be the difference between Pelipper coming safely in or fainting to Stealth Rock, and paralysis halves Pelipper's already horrible Speed.

Team Options
========

Mega Swampert is a fantastic teammate, as it can take advantage of Pelipper's Drizzle with its ability Swift Swim to become an incredibly powerful and fast sweeper. Swampert's Ground typing also lets it absorb Electric-type attacks and deal with Electric-type Pokemon with STAB Earthquake. It also gets Stealth Rock to chip foes, giving a teammate or even itself an easier time cleaning up late-game. Keldeo appreciates Pelipper's rain to boost its already powerful Water-type STAB moves to immense levels. Pelipper also helps get rid of walls that Keldeo cannot deal with such as Toxapex and deal with Grass-type Pokemon. In return, Keldeo takes on Pokemon like Alolan Muk and Chansey. Toxapex is a fantastic defensive pivot that can set up Toxic Spikes to wear down opposing walls and wall offensive threats such as Terrakion. In return, Pelipper provides a Ground immunity. Manaphy acts as both a secondary source of rain and potent special sweeper for rain teams with Z-Rain Dance. It can also make use of its wide coverage to patch up weaknesses in the team. Greninja works as a revenge killer to deal with the likes of Tapu Bulu and Tapu Koko without the reliance on rain. This alleviates pressure from Pelipper to come in every time rain is gone and helps prevent opponents from exploiting the team's reliance on rain. Greninja also greatly appreciates the removal of Mega Venusaur. Kingdra is another Swift Swim user that can become a strong sweeper in rain. Seismitoad can also take advantage of the rain with Swift Swim, performs a similar role to Mega Swampert as an Electric-immune sweeper, and is able to set Stealth Rock, freeing up a moveslot for Mega Swampert to run other coverage moves. Lastly, Azumarill's rain-boosted Aqua Jet is very hard to deal with after a Belly Drum, and it can make use of Pelipper's U-turn to get in safely.

[SET]
name: Defensive (Water)
move 1: Scald
move 2: Hurricane
move 3: Roost
move 4: Defog / U-turn
item: Leftovers
ability: Drizzle
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Scald allows Pelipper to potentially burn foes while dealing decent damage with the rain boost. Hurricane synergizes nicely with Drizzle to allow Pelipper to beat threats like Mega Lopunny and Mega Venusaur. Roost keeps Pelipper healthy throughout the battle so it can come in to set rain multiple times. Defog is useful to get rid of entry hazards. U-turn provides a slow pivot to give offensive Pokemon such as Mega Swampert that can take advantage of rain a free switch.

Set Details
========

Drizzle provides rain for the team as Pelipper switches in and is the only ability it should be using. Maximum investment in HP and Defense along with a Bold nature allows Pelipper to be as bulky as possible. Leftovers gives Pelipper passive recovery to further increase its longevity.

Usage Tips
========

Pelipper is usually safe to lead in order to get rain up early and pressure some common leads like Garchomp and Mega Lopunny. However, beware of slower weather setters, such as Hippowdon and Torkoal, and Mega Charizard Y, as they can replace Pelipper's rain with their own weather. U-turn should be used frequently to get an ally in safely to take advantage of the limited rain turns. Scald should also be used often if the opponent is not immediately pressured by your sweepers. Keep Pelipper healthy throughout the battle with Roost and remove Stealth Rock whenever possible so it can switch in more easily. Switch Pelipper into Stealth Rock users it can beat like Garchomp and Swampert to catch them on the turn they try to get Stealth Rock up, allowing Pelipper to force them out and Defog Stealth Rock away without taking damage from it. Avoid letting Pelipper be statused by moves such as Scald and Toxic, as they can severely hamper Pelipper's ability to wall or switch into threats due to its underwhelming base stats. Despite its weakness to Electric-type attacks, Pelipper is vital in the Electric matchup thanks to its rain support making Mega Swampert a massive threat to Electric teams.

Team Options
========

Mega Swampert is the best Swift Swim user to pair with Pelipper, as it grants the team an Electric immunity and has access to Stealth Rock. Toxapex works well with Pelipper as another pivot to take pressure off Pelipper, as having to take damage while using U-turn hinders Pelipper's ability to check certain threats like Garchomp. It is also a reliable switch-in to a majority of the metagame and appreciates Pelipper's ability to come in on Ground-type attacks. Taunt Keldeo can help get rid of walls Pelipper has trouble with like Mega Sableye, Porygon2, and Alolan Muk, while Pelipper gets rid of troublesome Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu. Greninja is a fantastic revenge killer that does not rely on rain to outspeed foes. It can help the team deal with Choice Scarf Pokemon that can threaten Mega Swampert such as Latios and Gengar. Manaphy is a strong setup sweeper that can also help set up rain in the event Pelipper is unable to. Strong coverage moves along with Tail Glow enable Manaphy to deal with walls that defensive Pelipper fails to like Zapdos and Gastrodon. Manaphy's ability Hydration also allows it to soak up status moves for the team with rain up. An alternative Defogger like Rotom-W or Empoleon can help, especially if Pelipper forgoes Defog, to take pressure off Pelipper and let it switch in on threats more easily.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Water
--------
Utilizing Choice Scarf instead of Choice Specs allows Pelipper to surprise Pokemon that usually outspeed it such as Kommo-o and Mega Diancie, but it loses out on the power to wallbreak effectively.

Checks and Counters
===================

Water
--------
**Electric-types**: Electric-type Pokemon like Alolan Raichu, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-W either are faster than Pelipper or don't mind its attacks and threaten it with a 4x super effective STAB attack.

**Rock-types**: While Pelipper can threaten Rock-type Pokemon with a rain-boosted Scald or Hydro Pump, faster Rock-types like Mega Diancie and Terrakion threaten to KO it with their own STAB moves.

**Stealth Rock**: Every time Pelipper switches in with Stealth Rock up, it loses a quarter of its health. Drizzle also does not activate if Pelipper faints to Stealth Rock, preventing you from sacrificing it to get rain up.

**Status**: Status ailments like poison and burn further chip down Pelipper. Paralysis also hinders it by halving its Speed.

**Faster Attackers**: Pelipper's underwhelming defenses and low Speed cause it to be easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Kyurem-B and Latios.

**Opposing Weather**: Mega Charizard Y, Torkoal, Hippowdon, Tyranitar, and Alolan Ninetales can change the weather. This takes away a massive part of Pelipper's kit, making it difficult for Pelipper to support the team properly.

- wouldnt rlly say voltturn support, mostly just talk about bringing it in safely

* Try to keep Stealth Rock off the field so Pelipper can switch in more often.
- it is the main defogger of the team, so maybe say switch in before sr is set so it doesnt take the chip but can clear hazards

* Keeping track of the number of turns of rain left is vital to the success of rain teams.
- explain more this in detail and how does peli play into this

* Avoid switching into any strong or super effective attack as Pelipper is rather frail.

Team Options

* Mega Swampert is a great teammate as it can abuse Pelipper's Drizzle with its ability Swift Swim to become an extremely strong and fast sweeper. Swampert's Ground typing also lets it absorb Electric-type attacks and deal with Electric-type Pokemon with Earthquake. It also gets Stealth Rocks, which offensive archetypes like rain greatly appreciates.
* Other Swift Swim users can also abuse the rain from Drizzle
- mega pert is p much the only viable ss mon atm imo

* Pelipper appreciates having Electric immunities such as Ground-types on the team.
* Wallbreakers and general hard hitters like Keldeo appreciate the rain that Pelipper provides to deal incredible amounts of damage.
* Defensive pivots such as Toxapex and Rotom-W are appreciated as a middle ground against faster Pokemon to keep Pelipper healthy throughout the battle.
- would like you to seperate these into diff bullets, talk about pex and rotom seperately, pex and it do drastically diff things

* Toxapex also helps wear down Pokemon with Toxic Spikes so Pelipper can have an easier time beating time.
* Pokemon like Greninja also appreciates Pelipper's ability to get rid of Mega Venusaur.

Usage Tips

* Pelipper is usually relatively safe to lead with Pelipper as it pressures some common leads like Garchomp and Mega Lopunny.

* The early rain is also of great help to the team.

Water
--------
* Scald is an option on the Choice Specs set for the potential to burn foes but the power from Hydro Pump is preferred.
- no hydro always, since its nice and powerful if u rlly want scald it has to replace defog/uturn, but explain why thats bad if you decide to keep this bullet. if not delete this from oo

* Choice Scarf allows Pelipper to surprise Pokemon that usually outspeed it such as Serperior and Victini but loses out on the power to wallbreak effectively.
- those are bleh examples, try other ones such as Kommo-o which can lead against other pelippers and rape ss w/ its z move

* U-turn can be used over Hurricane on the defensive set while keeping Defog but loses out on the ability to deal with Mega Venusaur.
- never ever ever worth losing hurricane, that stab is far 2 important for the team

Checks and Counters

Water
--------
**Electric-types**: Electric-type Pokemon resist both Pelipper's STAB moves and threaten it with a 4x effective Electric-type attack.
- rewrite this section, also electric pokemon dont resist water stab, maybe rotom-w but thts just one pokemon

**Rock-types**: While Pelipper can threaten Rock-type Pokemon with a Scald or Hydro Pump rain, faster Rock-types like Mega Diancie and Terrakion threaten to KO it with their own STAB Rock moves.

**Stealth Rock**: Every time Pelipper switches in with Stealth Rock up, it loses a quarter of its Health. Drizzle also does not activate if it faints to Stealth Rock, preventing you from sacrificing it to get rain up.

**Status**: Status like poison and burn further chip Pelipper. Paralysis also hinders it by halving its speed.

**Faster Attackers**: Pelipper's underwhelming defenses and low Speed causes it to be easily revenge killed by Faster Pokemon such as Kyurem-Black and Latios.

**Opposing Weather**: Mega Charizard Y, Torkoal, Hippowdon, Tyrinatar, and Alolan Ninetales can change the weather. This takes away a massive part of Pelipper's kit, making it difficult for Pelipper to support the team properly.

* Ground types are incredibly useful to absorb any Electric-type attack due to Pelipper’s 4x weakness to Electric.
* Wallbreakers and Stallbreakers such as Keldeo gets rid of walls Pelipper has trouble with.
* Another Pivot such as Toxapex helps take some pivoting pressure off Pelipper and checks Rock-types such as Terrakion for Pelipper.
* Toxapex also appreciates Pelipper’s ability to switch into Ground-type attacks.
* A secondary Defogger can help, especially if Defog is forgone on Pelipper, to take some Defogging pressure off and let Pelipper switch in on threats easier.

same as the other teams section, rework this team options section plop

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Water
--------
* Scald is an option on the Choice Specs set for the potential to burn foes but the power from Hydro Pump is preferred.
- no hydro always, since its nice and powerful if u rlly want scald it has to replace defog/uturn, but explain why thats bad if you decide to keep this bullet. if not delete this from oo bopped it

- never ever ever worth losing hurricane, that stab is far 2 important for the team fine

Checks and Counters
===================

Water
--------
**Electric-types**: Electric-type Pokemon resist both Pelipper's STAB moves and threaten it with a 4x effective Electric-type attack.
- rewrite this section, also electric pokemon dont resist water stab, maybe rotom-w but thts just one pokemon mb

- heres the spelling/grammar standards will tell you how to use grammar/capitalization etc https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spelling-and-grammar-standards.3588427/. note: this is just for you, dont add it to the analysis please added

**Faster Attackers**: Pelipper's underwhelming defences and low Speed causes it to be easily revenge killed by Faster Pokemon such as Kyurem-Black and Latios.

**Opposing Weather**: Mega Charizard Y, Torkoal, Hippowdon, Tyrinatar, and Alolan Ninetales can change the weather. This takes away a massive part of Pelipper's kit, making it difficult for Pelipper to support the team properly.

[OVERVIEW]

Water
========

* Pelipper's ability Drizzle makes it a necessity on rain teams.
- please go into more depth about why drizzle is important. maybe introduce pelipper by saying it is single-handedly why this entire archetype is playable in gen7

* Its flying typing along with a strong flying STAB move allows it to deal with problematic grass types, most notably Mega Venusaur, as well as Fighting- and Bug-types such as Breloom and Volcarona.
* Its high base power STAB moves allow it to have a threatening offensive presence with a Choice Specs and the ability to rip through many common walls like Celesteela, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex.
* Pelipper is also one the only viable defoggers on rain teams, making it incredibly valuable as a much sought after role compressor.
- the second part of this is weird, just leaving it as the only viable defogger on rain is fine imo

* Pelipper's decent defensive typing allows it to run a defensive set despite its otherwise lackluster bulk to check some physical threats such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Gallade.
* However, Pelipper is very frail without defensive investment. Coupled with its low speed, Pelipper’s offensive sets are unable to reliably check faster threats like Mega Diancie and Terrakion.
* Having to switch into entry hazards to remove them makes Pelipper a rather unreliable defogger due to its weakness to Stealth Rock.
* Despite being a staple on rain teams, it is underwhelming overall, making it hard to justify using outside of rain oriented teams.

Moves
========

* Hurricane boosted by the rain has perfect accuracy, making it a strong and reliable Flying STAB move. This allows Pelipper to eliminate walls that rain teams generally have a hard time breaking through such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex.
* Hydro Pump is also boosted by rain, allowing allows Pelipper to deal massive damage to walls such as Mega Sableye, Porygon 2, and Celesteela.
* Defog lets Pelipper help the team clear entry hazards such as Sticky Web, which hinders even Swift Swim users. It also clears Stealth Rock to let Pelipper switch in more often without worry.
* U-turn allows Pelipper to act as a pivot to gain momentum.

Set Details
========

* Drizzle supports the team with rain while boosting Pelipper’s own moves.
* Maximum Speed with a Timid nature allows Pelipper to be as fast as possible.

* 252 EVs in Special Attack with Choice Specs allows Pelipper to hit as hard as possible.
* A Modest nature can also be used to hit harder but fails to outspeed threats like adamant Breloom and Adamant Tapu Bulu.
- changed my mind, just tapu bulu is a fantastic example on its own

Usage Tips
========

* Send Pelipper out early to dismantle opponents’ defensive cores with Hurricane + Hydro Pump, a move combination unresisted by most of the metagame. (resisted by rotom wash, mega ampharos lul, empoleon)
- dont do this weird note thing, include pokemon like rotom-w in the sentence, that is the only example i like here

* Send it in whenever rain ends to continue supporting Pokemon that can abuse it.
* Keep Pelipper alive to get as many rain turns as possible especially in matchups like Electric where Drizzle support is the key to winning.
* U-turn should be used on expected switches to gain momentum for the team or on a foe Pelipper outspeeds but cannot beat such as Cradily and Tyranitar.
- actually pelipper can beat both of these, maybe do faster threats that can ohko it

* Bring Pelipper in safely on resisted or weak hits, or through VoltTurn support from the team.
- there is no viable volt switch mon on rain teams imo, just say it can be brought in safely from greninja's U-turn

* Try to keep Stealth Rock off the field so Pelipper can switch in more often.
* Keeping track of remaining rain turns is vital to the success of rain teams. Avoid switching Pelipper in when there is still a turn of rain up, as this essentially wastes its Drizzle and may lead to it taking unnecessary damage.
- this sounds like you shouldnt use pelipper while rain is up, infact specs hydro pump hits very hard in the rain and hurricane cant miss. think you need to reword this a little bit to make the point of it not taking unnecessary damage to keep rain support alive longer

* Avoid sacrificing Pelipper early unless the remaining rain turns can help teammates win the game.

Team Options
========

- every team appreciates sr, say maybe bz it helps chips foes letting greninja clean easier late-game or something like tht

* Keldeo appreciates Pelipper's rain to boost its already powerful Scald and Hydro Pumps to immense levels. Pelipper also helps get rid of walls that Keldeo cannot deal with such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex.
- also talk about keldeo's cm + z set, also make scald/hydro pump its water stab

* Toxapex works great with Pelipper as an answer to problematic Rock-types such as Terrakion. Toxapex is also a fantastic defensive pivot on water teams that can set up Toxic Spikes to wear down opposing walls. In return, Pelipper helps Toxapex by being a ground immunity.
* Greninja works as a revenge killer on rain teams without the reliance on rain. This takes pressure off Pelipper from coming in every time rain is gone and helps prevent opponents from exploiting the team's reliance on rain. It also greatly appreciates the removal of Mega Venusaur.

Moves
========

* Scald allows Pelipper to burn foes while dealing decent damage with the rain boost.
* Hurricane synergizes nicely with Drizzle to allow Pelipper to beat problematic grass types like Mega Venusaur.
* Roost keeps Pelipper healthy throughout the battle so it can come in to set rain multiple times.
* Defog is useful to get rid of hazards such as sticky webs that hinder rain teams.
* U-turn provides a slow pivot to give offensive Pokemon such as Mega Swampert that can abuse rain a free switch.

just a quick note, but you pretty much gave the same examples here and in the other moves section, possibly think of other ones. thanks

Set Details
========

* Drizzle provides rain for the team upon switch-in and is the only ability Pelipper should be using.
* 248 252 EVs in Health along with maximum Defence investment and a Bold nature allows Pelipper to be as bulky as possible while minimizing damage taken from Stealth Rock. The rest is put into its Special Defence.
- just noticed, but with leftovers recovery it doesnt matter that it takes 25% from sr bz leftovers allows it to switchin more times regardless

* Leftovers gives Pelipper passive recovery to further increase its bulk.

Usage Tips
========

* Pelipper is usually relatively safe to lead with as it pressures some common leads like Garchomp and Mega Lopunny. Getting rain up early also gives you an early advantage by giving the team an immediate offensive boost.
* However, avoid leading it against teams with their own weather setter as most of them are slower and will replace Pelipper’s rain with their own. Be wary of Charizard as it can potentially mega evolve into Mega Charizard Y and remove Pelipper's rain.
* U-turn should be used frequently to get an ally in safely to take advantage of the limited rain turns.
* Keep Pelipper healthy throughout the battle with roost and remove Stealth Rock whenever possible so it can switch in easier.
* Switch Pelipper into Stealth Rock users it can beat like Hippowdon and Swampert to catch them on the turn they try to get Stealth Rock up, allowing Pelipper to pressure them and Defog the hazard away without taking damage from it.
* Despite its weakness to Electric-type attacks, Pelipper is vital in the Electric matchup thanks to its rain support making Mega Swampert a massive threat to Electric teams.

just wanted to note, this section was very clean, nice job!

Team Options
========

* Mega Swampert is the best Swift Swim user to pair with Pelipper. It grants the team an Electric immunity, has access to Stealth Rock, and can abuse rain with Swift Swim.
* Stallbreaker Keldeo can help get rid of walls Pelipper has trouble with like Mega Sableye and Alolan Muk, while Pelipper gets rid of troublesome Grass-types like Mega Venusaur.
* Toxapex partner for Pelipper as another pivot to take pressure off Pelipper to U-turn and take damage, hindering its ability to check certain threats like Garchomp. Toxapex also appreciates Pelipper coming in on Ground-type attacks.
* A secondary Defogger like Rotom-Wash or Empoleon can help, especially if Defog is forgone on Pelipper, to take some Defogging pressure off and let Pelipper switch in on threats easier.

* Pelipper getting Drizzle is a blessing to rain teams in USUM. It single-handedly enables rain teams to function.
* Its flying Flying typing along with a strong flying STAB move rain-boosted Hurricane allows it to deal with problematic Grass-types, most notably Mega Venusaur, as well as Fighting- and Bug-types such as Breloom and Volcarona. (Idk, these examples are shaky to me considering most Breloom carry Rock Tomb and more Volcarona's are carrying HP Electric. What you're saying isn't wrong, but 'd recommend choosing different examples.)
* Its high base power STAB moves allow it to have a threatening offensive presence with a Choice Specs and the ability to rip through many common walls like Celesteela, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex.
* Pelipper is valued as the only viable defogger on rain teams.

* Send Pelipper out early to dismantle opponents’ defensive cores with Hurricane + Hydro Pump, a move combination unresisted by most of the metagame. Mention that setting rain early can enable teammates such as Kingdra and Mega Swampert can take advantage of it.

Swampert's Ground typing also lets it absorb Electric-type attacks and deal with Electric-type Pokemon with Earthquake. * Keldeo appreciates Pelipper's rain to boost its already powerful Water-type STAB moves to immense levels. Pelipper also helps get rid of walls that Keldeo cannot deal with such as Toxapex and help deal with Grass-type Pokemon. In return, Keldeo helps Pelipper deal with Pokemon that it struggles with like Alolan Muk and Chansey.
* Toxapex works great with Pelipper as an answer to problematic Rock-types such as Terrakion. Toxapex is also a fantastic defensive pivot on water teams that can set up Toxic Spikes to wear down opposing walls, and can wall offensive threats such as Terrakion. In return, Pelipper helps Toxapex by being a ground immunity. You can talk about Toxapex being great w/ Pelipper, but it's not because it can specifically deal with Rock-types.
* Greninja works as a revenge killer on rain teams without the reliance on rain (mention what it's threatening to revenge kill). This takes pressure off Pelipper from coming in every time rain is gone and helps prevent opponents from exploiting the team's reliance on rain. It also greatly appreciates the removal of Mega Venusaur.
* Manaphy acts as both a secondary source of rain and potent special sweeper for rain teams with Z-Rain Dance. It can also make use of its wide coverage to patch up weaknesses in the team.
* Azumarill is incredibly threatening in rain. Belly Drum sets can make use of Pelipper's U-turn to get in safely, and Aqua Jet after the Belly Drum boost is very difficult to deal with in rain.
*Add Kingdra.
*Add Seismitoad.

Moves
========

* Scald allows Pelipper to burn foes while dealing decent damage with the rain boost.
* Hurricane synergizes nicely with Drizzle to allow Pelipper to beat threats like Mega Lopunny and Mega Venusaur

Set Details
========

* Drizzle provides rain for the team upon switch-in and is the only ability Pelipper should be using.
* 252 EVs in Health along with maximum Defence investment and a Bold nature allows Pelipper to be as bulky as possible. The rest is put into its Special Defence.
* Leftovers gives Pelipper passive recovery to further increase its bulk.

Usage Tips
========

* Pelipper is usually relatively safe to lead with as it pressures some common leads like Garchomp and Mega Lopunny. Getting rain up early also gives you an early advantage by giving the team an immediate offensive boost.
* However, avoid leading it against teams with their own weather setter such as Mega Charizard Y as most of them are slower and as they will replace Pelipper’s rain with their own.

Team Options
========

* Mega Swampert is the best Swift Swim user to pair with Pelipper. It grants the team an Electric immunity, has access to Stealth Rock and can abuse rain with Swift Swim.
* Stallbreaker Keldeo can help get rid of walls Pelipper has trouble with like Mega Sableye, Porygon 2, and Alolan Muk, while Pelipper gets rid of troublesome Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu.
* Toxapex works well with Pelipper as another pivot to take pressure off Pelipper to U-turn and take damage as it hinders Pelipper's ability to check certain threats like Garchomp.
* Manaphy is a strong setup sweeper that can also help set up rain in the event Pelipper is unable to. Its access to strong coverage moves along with Tail Glow enables it to deal with walls that defensive Pelipper fails to like Chansey, Mantine and Gastrodon with the correct coverage. Manaphy's ability Hydration also allows it to soak status moves for the team with rain up.
*Add Greninja.
* Empoleon serves as a specially defensive partner to Pelipper, able to set up Stealth Rock for the team and remove them with Defog. It also synergizes nicely with Pelipper, able to take Rock-type attacks while Pelipper soaks up Fighting and Ground coverage. Having Empoleon also frees a moveslot for Mega Swampert, allowing it to run more and better coverage. Sparsely used really.

(Idk, these examples are shaky to me considering most Breloom carry Rock Tomb and more Volcarona's are carrying HP Electric. What you're saying isn't wrong, but 'd recommend choosing different examples.) changed to lopunny and hera
* Its high base power STAB moves allow it to have a threatening offensive presence with a Choice Specs and the ability to rip through many common walls like Celesteela, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex.
* Pelipper is valued as the only viable defogger on rain teams.

Pelipper getting Drizzle in SM is a blessing to rain teams as it single-handedly enables rain teams to function Remove in Sm this is something that shouldn't be in an analysis. Its Flying typing along with rain-boosted hurricane isn't really rain boosted it has improved accuracy Hurricane allows it to deal with problematic Grass-types, most notably Mega Venusaur, as well as Fighting- and Bug-types like Heracross and Mega Lopunny these aren't best examples since I'm not switching these into Peliper anyday and scarf isn't first set and best case scenario against those two peliper is at very low hp and after rocks it isn't a question for specs set. Its high base power STAB moves allow it to have a threatening offensive presence with a Choice Specs and the ability to rip through many common walls like Celesteela, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex. Pelipper's decent defensive typing allows it to run a defensive set despite its otherwise lacklustre bulk to check some physical threat such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Gallade. Mega Swampert is a fantastic teammate as it can abuse Pelipper's Drizzle with its ability Swift Swim to become an incredibly powerful and fast sweeper. This alleviates pressure from Pelipper to come in every time rain is gone and helps prevent opponents from exploiting the team's reliance on rain. It also greatly appreciates the removal of Mega Venusaur. Manaphy acts as both a secondary source of rain and potent special sweeper for rain teams with Z-Rain Dance. It can also make use of its wide coverage to patch up weaknesses in the team. Azumarill is incredibly threatening in rain. It can make use of Pelipper's U-turn to get in safely, and rain-boosted Aqua Jet is very hard to deal with after a Belly Drum. Other rain sweepers such as Kingdra and Seismitoad can take advantage of the rain with Swift Swim to become terrifying, fast powerhouses. Seismitoad, in particular, performs a similar role to Mega Swampert as an electric immunity and is able to set Stealth Rock. Would Prefer Kingdra to be higher since it plus Swampert are two main ss users

Pelipper's access to getting Drizzle is a blessing to rain teams, (AC) as it single-handedly singlehandedly enables rain teams to function. While it is valued as a Defogger, having to switch into entry hazards to remove them makes Pelipper rather unreliable due to its weakness to Stealth Rock. Thus, despite being a staple on rain teams, Pelipper is very underwhelming, making it hard to justify using outside of rain-oriented (AH) teams.

Hurricane allows Pelipper to eliminate walls that rain teams generally have a hard time breaking through such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex. Hydro Pump allows helps Pelipper to deal massive damage to walls such as Mega Sableye, Porygon 2, and Celesteela.

Drizzle supports the team with rain while boosting Pelipper’s Pelipper's own moves. Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Pelipper to be as fast as possible. 252 EVs in Special Attack with Choice Specs allows allow Pelipper to hit as hard as possible. A Modest nature can also be used to hit harder, (AC) but then Pelipper fails to outspeed threats like Adamant Tapu Bulu.

Usage Tips
========

Pelipper should be used early to dismantle opponents’ opposing defensive cores with Hurricane + Hydro Pump, a move combination unresisted by most of the metagame. Getting rain up early also enables teammates such as Mega Swampert and Kingdra to become immediate threats. Send Pelipper in whenever rain ends to continue supporting Pokemon that can abuse take advantage of it. Keep Pelipper alive to get as many rain turns as possible especially in matchups like Electric, (AC) where Drizzle support is the key to winning. U-turn should be used on expected switches to gain momentum or to switch out on slower foes that heavily pressure Pelipper like Cradily and Tyranitar. Keeping track of remaining rain turns is vital to the success of rain teams. Avoid switching Pelipper in when there is still a turn of rain up, as this essentially wastes its Drizzle and may lead to it taking unnecessary damage. That said, Pelipper works best with rain, (AC) so do not be afraid to utilize it while rain is up. Avoid sacrificing Pelipper early unless the remaining rain turns can help teammates win the game. Switch into Stealth Rock users that Pelipper can force out such as Swampert and Hippowdon to be able to use Defog without having to take damage from the entry hazard. Avoid getting statused, (AC) as any chip damage can be the difference between Pelipper coming safely in or dying fainting to Stealth Rock, and paralysis halves Pelipper's already horrible speed.

Team Options
========

Mega Swampert is a fantastic teammate, (AC) as it can abuse take advantage of Pelipper's Drizzle with its ability Swift Swim to become an incredibly powerful and fast sweeper. Swampert's Ground typing also lets it absorb Electric-type attacks and deal with Electric-type Pokemon with STAB Earthquake. It also gets Stealth Rocks Rock to chip foes giving a teammate or even itself an easier time cleaning up late-game. Keldeo appreciates Pelipper's rain to boost its already powerful Water-type STAB moves to immense levels. Pelipper also helps get rid of walls that Keldeo cannot deal with such as Toxapex and help deal with Grass-type Pokemon. In return, Keldeo helps Pelipper deal with takes on (repetition) Pokemon like Alolan Muk and Chansey. Toxapex is a fantastic defensive pivot on water teams that can set up Toxic Spikes to wear down opposing walls and can wall offensive threats such as Terrakion. In return, Pelipper helps Toxapex by being providing a Ground immunity. Manaphy acts as both a secondary source of rain and a potent special sweeper for rain teams with Z-Rain Dance. It can also make use of its wide coverage to patch up weaknesses in the team. Greninja works as a revenge killer on rain teams to deal with the likes of Tapu Bulu and Tapu Koko without the reliance on rain. This alleviates pressure from Pelipper to come in every time rain is gone and helps prevent opponents from exploiting the team's reliance on rain. It also greatly appreciates the removal of Mega Venusaur. Kingdra is another Swift Swim user that can become a strong sweeper in rain. Seismitoad can also take advantage of the rain with Swift Swim and performs a similar role to Mega Swampert as an electric immunity Electric-immune sweeper and is able to set Stealth Rock, freeing up a move slot for Mega Swampert to run other coverage. Lastly, Azumarill's rain-boosted Aqua Jet is very hard to deal with after a Belly Drum, and is incredibly threatening in rain. it can make use of Pelipper's U-turn to get in safely, and rain-boosted Aqua Jet is very hard to deal with after a Belly Drum.

U-turn provides a slow pivot to give offensive Pokemon such as Mega Swampert that can abuse take advantage of rain a free switch.

Set Details

Drizzle provides rain for the team upon switch-in as Pelipper switches in and is the only ability Pelipper it should be using. Maximum investment in Health HP and Defense along with a Bold nature allows Pelipper to be as bulky as possible. The rest is put into its Special Defence. Leftovers gives Pelipper passive recovery to further increase its bulk.

Usage Tips
========

Pelipper is usually safe to lead in order to get rain up early and pressure some common leads like Garchomp and Mega Lopunny. However, beware of slower weather setters, such as Hippowdon and Torkoal, and Mega Charizard Y, (AC) as they can replace Pelipper's rain with their own weather. U-turn should be used frequently to get an ally in safely to take advantage of the limited rain turns. Scald should also be used often if the opponent is not immediately pressured by your sweepers. Keep Pelipper healthy throughout the battle with Roost and remove Stealth Rock whenever possible so it can switch in easier more easily. Switch Pelipper into Stealth Rock users it can beat like Garchomp and Swampert to catch them on the turn they try to get Stealth Rock up, allowing Pelipper to force them out and Defog the entry hazard away without taking damage from it. Avoid letting Pelipper be statused from moves such as Scald or Toxic, (AC) as they can severely hamper Pelipper's ability to wall or switch into threats due to Pelipper's its underwhelming base stats. The extra chip from the burn or poison may render it unable to switch into threats. Despite its weakness to Electric-type attacks, Pelipper is vital in the Electric matchup thanks to its rain support making Mega Swampert a massive threat to Electric teams.

Team Options
========

Mega Swampert is the best Swift Swim user to pair with Pelipper, (comma) as it grants the team an Electric immunity (RC) and has access to Stealth Rock and can abuse rain with Swift Swim. (redundant) Toxapex works well with Pelipper as another pivot to take pressure off Pelipper, (AC) as having to take damage while using U-turn and take damage in the process as this hinders Pelipper's ability to check certain threats like Garchomp. It is also simply a reliable switch-in to a majority of the metagame and appreciates Pelipper's ability being able to come in on Ground-type attacks. Stallbreaker Keldeo can help get rid of walls Pelipper has trouble with like Mega Sableye, Porygon 2, and Alolan Muk, while Pelipper gets rid of troublesome Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu. Its access to strong coverage moves along with Tail Glow enables it to deal with walls that defensive Pelipper fails to like Zapdos and Gastrodon with the correct coverage. Manaphy's ability Hydration also allows it to soak up status moves for the team with rain up. An alternative Defogger like Rotom-Wash or Empoleon can help, especially if Pelipper forgoes Defog is forgone on Pelipper, to take some Defogging pressure off and let Pelipper and let it switch in on threats easier more easily.

**Electric-types**: Electric-type Pokemon like Alolan Raichu, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-wash Rotom-W either are either faster than Pelipper or don't mind its attacks (RC) and threaten it with a 4x super effective Electric-type STAB attack.

**Rock-types**: While Pelipper can threaten Rock-type Pokemon with a rain-boosted Scald or Hydro Pump rain, faster Rock-types like Mega Diancie and Terrakion threaten to KO it with their own STAB Rock moves.

**Stealth Rock**: Every time Pelipper switches in with Stealth Rock up, it loses a quarter of its health. Drizzle also does not activate if it Pelipper faints to Stealth Rock, preventing you from sacrificing it to get rain up.

**Status**: Status ailments like poison and burn further chip down Pelipper. Paralysis also hinders it by halving its speed.

**Faster Attackers**: Pelipper's underwhelming defenses and low Speed causes cause it to be easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Kyurem-Black and Latios.

**Opposing Weather**: Mega Charizard Y, Torkoal, Hippowdon, Tyranitar, and Alolan Ninetales can change the weather. This takes away a massive part of Pelipper's kit, making it difficult for Pelipper to support the team properly.

[OVERVIEW]

Pelipper's access to ability Drizzle is a blessing to rain teams, as it single-handedly(AH) enables rain teams them to function.(it's the ability that enables rain teams, not Pelipper's access to it) Its Pelipper's Flying typing along with a Hurricane that does not miss in rain allows it to deal with problematic Grass-types, most notably Mega Venusaur, as well as Fighting- and Bug-types. Its high base power Base Power STAB moves allow it to have a threatening offensive presence with a Choice Specs and the ability to rip through many common walls like Celesteela, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex. Pelipper's decent defensive typing also allows it to run a defensive set despite its otherwise lacklustre lackluster bulk to check some physical threats such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Gallade. However, it should be noted that Pelipper's offensive sets are still incredibly frail due to the lack of investment in bulk. Coupled with its low speed Speed, offensive Pelipper is unable to reliably check faster threats like Mega Diancie and Terrakion.
