[SET COMMENTS]
Volcorona holds its niche in the 1v1 metagame due to its powerful STAB combination coupled with an already impressive SpA stat. Substitute is used to bring Volcorona's health down low in order to activate Petaya Berry and place Volcorona in Swarm range, which alongside Bug Buzz defeats slower targets such as Choice Band Darmanitan-Galar, Non-Choice Scarfed Porygon-Z, and Rillaboom. Bug Buzz is also a sound based move so it bypasses Substitute, allowing Volcorona to defeat Whimsicott. Overheat targets Pokemon that Bug Buzz cannot deal with such as Steel-types including Aegislash, Skarmory, and Scizor, alongside Fairy-types such as Sylveon and Galarian Weezing. Quiver Dance allows Volcorona to outspeed bulkier targets such as Non-Rock Tomb Kyurem, Snorlax, and Sylveon. 252 Speed EV’s plus a Timid nature allows Volcorona to outspeed Non-Choice Scarf Haxorus, Porygon-Z, and Galarian Darmanitan. 252 Special Attack EV’s allow for maximum damage output.

If Volcorona can outspeed the opposing Pokemon then, in most cases, go for a Substitute turn 1. If the opponent breaks Substitute, then repeat the process until Volcorona is at 25% HP which will ensure the activation of Petaya Berry and Swarm. Against Zeraora, Volcorona can always live a Life Orb attack however, Choice Banded variants will always OHKO it. In either scenario, Volcorona's best bet is to go for a Quiver Dance turn 1 to guarantee Volcorona can outspeed and OHKO the following turn. Against Kyurem, Volcarona has the capacity to beat every non-Rock Tomb or non-Noble Roar set, however each matchup varies slightly. Against , Choice Specs, spam Substitute until both Swarm and Petaya Berry are active, followed by Bug Buzz which will OHKO. Against Choice Scarf and Roost + 3 attacks, Quiver Dance twice followed by Bug Buzz. Note that this isn't a guaranteed win for Volcarona, but is extremely reliable as Kyurem would need near max damage rolls or a critical hit. Against Sylveon, Substitute immediately. If Sylveon uses Yawn or Fake Tears, proceed to Quiver Dance twice and OHKO with Overheat. If Sylveon uses Hyper Voice on Volcarona's Substitute and deals more than 37% of damage, that indicates that it is using Choice Specs. In this scenario, Quiver Dance only once followed by Overheat, as Sylveon's Hyper Voice on turn 2 will activate Petaya berry and allow Volcarona to KO the following turn. If Sylveon uses Hyper Voice and does less than 37% of damage, still go for Quiver Dance. If the subsequent Hyper Voice activates Petaya Berry use Overheat to KO, but if it does not activate Petaya Berry then another Quiver Dance is necessary to get Volcarona to +2. Volcorona struggles greatly against Fire types as it resists both of Volcorona’s stab attacks. Pokemon like Crustle, Assault Vest Primarina, and Urshifu-R are some solid choices as teammates, dealing with Pokemon such as Arcanine, Rotom-H, and Alolon Marowak. In return, Volcorona can handle Grass types like Rillaboom, Celebi, and Venusaur. Water types that can resist Bug Buzz such as Primarina, Urshifu-R, and Azumarill propose quite the problem for Volcorona as well. Grass and Electric type teammates such as Choice Band Rillaboom, Zeraora, and Dracozolt pair nicely with Volcorona. Volcorona also doesn’t like Pokemon that can Taunt or Disable Volcorona’s Quiver Dance like SubDisable Dragapult and Aromatisse. Pokemon such as Life Orb Zeraora, Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, and Choice Specs Magnezone are appreciated to deal with this weakness.

Volcorona has an insanely high Special Attack stat that cleaves through a large portion of the metagame that can’t resist it’s STAB’s. Volcarona holds its niche in the 1v1 metagame due to its powerful STAB combination coupled with an already impressive Spa stat. (Take note of how I use the same information but make word it differently to better outline the Pokemon.) Volcorona can use Substitute is used to bring its Volcarona's health down low in order to activate Petaya Berry and place Volcarona in Swarm range, which alongside Bug Buzz defeats slower targets such as take down targets slower than it such as Choice Band Darmanitan-Galar, Non-Choice Scarfed Porygon-Z, Non-Choice Scarfed Hydreigon, and Rillaboom. (Generally we only want three examples.) Bug Buzz is also a sound based move so it bypasses Substitute, allowing Volcarona to defeat Whimsicott. This allows Volcorona to beat Special Defensive invested Occa Berry Whimsicott, as it can ignore their Substitute. (Just get straight to the point, no need to fluff around.) Overheat is an insanely strong Fire STAB attack that decimates Bug Type resistors, notably Steel types, such as Corviknight, Aegislash, Scizor, and Steelix. targets Pokemon that Bug Buzz cannot deal with such as Steel-types including Aegislash, Skarmory, and Scizor, alongside Fairy-types such as Sylveon and Galarian Weezing. Quiver Dance allows Volcorona to outspeed faster targets that can otherwise one hit KO Volcorona like Non-Choice Band Zeraora. (Life Orb Zeraora wins with Fake Out into Plasma Fists. Can you find any other examples? Think about if there are any Pokemon that you might need the boosts for. Non-Rock Tomb Kyurem and Sylveon both come to mind.) 252 Speed EV’s plus a Timid nature allows Volcorona to outspeed some of the metagame’s defining threats who don’t hold Choice Scarfs such as Darmanitan-Galar, Porygon-Z, Scarf Haxorus, Kyurem, and Hydreigon. non-Choice Scarf Haxorus, Porygon-Z, and Galarian Darmanitan. 252 Special Attack EV’s allow for maximum damage output.

If Volcorona can outspeed the opposing Pokemon then, in most cases, go for a Substitute turn 1. If they break the the opponent breaks Substitute, then repeat the process until Volcorona is at 25% HP and it eats it's Petaya Berry. which will ensure the activation of Petaya berry and Swarm. Volcorona's Swarm ability will activate giving it a power boost to it's Bug Buzz. At +1 SpA, Volcorona is able to plow through most non resistors in one hit. If the opposing Pokemon can resist Bug however, and Overheat would do more damage, the better option is to go for Overheat. (This doesn't really add anything useful to the reader. We don't need to explain that the more powerful move should be used.) If the opposing Pokemon fails to break the Substitute, that is a prime opportunity to go for a Quiver Dance as it gets a +1 in SpA, Spe, and SpD allowing it to do even more damage. (One or two examples here would be good, considering how niche this situation is.) Against Zeraora, Volcorona can always live a Life Orb attack however, Choice Banded variants will always OHKO it. In either scenario, Volcorona's best bet is to go for a Quiver Dance turn 1 to guarantee it outspeeds it next turn. Volcorona can OHKO any Zeraora at +1 Special Attack with Bug Buzz. outspeed and OHKO the following turn. The Kyurem matchup is very much if a guessing game. Volcorona cannot beat Specs or Scarf (correct me if I'm wrong, but against Specs you simply sub a bunch into Petaya + Swarm range and KO with Bug Buzz, and against Scarf you just Quiver Dance? Seems like it's more of a guessing game between Sub and Quiver Dance on turn 1) but it has a very favorable Roost + 3 Attacks matchup. Against the latter, Quiver Dance right away to get the extra Special Attack and Special Defense. Do this 1 more time then start to Bug Buzz. Volcorona can 2HKO it at +2 Special Attack. Volcorona has a slight advantage over Sylveon, but it’s not guaranteed. Substitute turn 1 as this blocks a potential Yawn. If they go for Fake Tears, go for 2 Quiver Dances and fire off an overheat. Hyper Beam cannot go through Substitute so this forces them to go for a Hyper Voice. Volcorona takes a Hyper Voice at -1 Special Defense fairly well (we're subbing on turn 1 so why are we at -1? Fake Tears doesn't go through substitute, so this should be as simple as sub followed by x2 quiver dance), and they will not be able to 2HKO it at neutral Special Defense. Overheat can OHKO at +2. Volcorona struggles greatly against Fire types as it resists both of Volcorona’s stab attacks. Pokemon like Crustle, Primarina, and and Urshifu-R are some solid choices as teammates as Volcorona can handle Grass types like Rillaboom and Venusaur for them. (Include a point about how it struggles with Water-types as well. Primarina, Urshifu-R and Azumarill are the main culprits.) Volcorona also doesn’t like stall that can Taunt or Disable Volcorona’s Quiver Dance like SubDisable Dragapult and Taunt Salazzle. Aromatisse. Strong, fast attackers like Scarf Darmanitan-Galar and Choice Band Zeraora can handle these quite nicely. (Reconsider the team options now that I've changed Salazzle, since Aromatisse is much more relevant.)

Against Kyurem, Volcarona has the capacity to beat every non-Rock Tomb or non-Noble Roar set, however each matchup varies slightly. However, the way you handle each set is different. Against the former, Choice Specs, spam Substitute turn 1 as Kyurem drops it's Special Attack via Draco Meteor. This allows you to safely pull of a Quiver Dance thanks to Kyurem being at -2 Special Attack. Do this once more and fire off an Overheat which picks you up a OHKO. until both Swarm and Petaya Berry are active, followed by Bug Buzz which will OHKO. Against Choice Scarf and Roost + 3 attacks, Quiver Dance right away to get the extra Special Attack and Special Defense. Do this 1 more time then start to Bug Buzz.
