[SET COMMENTS]

With Light Ball, Pikachu is the embodiment of a glass cannon. The combination of Fake Out and Extreme Speed allows Pikachu to reliably revenge kill faster Pokemon such as Electabuzz, Kadabra, and Galarian Mr. Mime, which helps to circumvent its poor defenses. Fake Out and Extreme Speed having such high priority also helps it to clean weakened priority move users like Thwackey, Piloswine, and Gurdurr. Knock Off cripples switch-ins and nails Ghost-types such as Gastly and Lampent, which are immune to Pikachu's priority. Lastly, Volt Switch allows Pikachu to pivot out of Pokemon that it cannot break past itself, such as Tangela and Ferroseed, and can also be used gain to momentum on Electric-weak Pokemon, such as Golbat and Mareanie, when Knock Off is unlikely to make progress. A Naughty nature is used to avoid decreasing the power of Volt Switch. Lightning Rod lets Pikachu block Volt Switch attempts and potentially boost its own, whereas Static has the chance to paralyze foes if Pikachu is hit by a contact move, although it is unlikely to survive in the process.

Pikachu should mainly use Knock Off and Volt Switch early-game to cripple opposing Pokemon and get out of bad matchups until it can pick off low-health targets with its priority moves. Since Pikachu cripples common walls such as Galarian Corsola and Ferroseed, special wallbreakers like Galarian Mr. Mime, Magmar, and Kadabra are good teammates with it. Entry hazard users such as Stealth Rock Marshtomp, Spikes Ferroseed, and Toxic Spikes Koffing help to wear down opposing Pokemon for Pikachu to clean. Koffing in particular is an exceptional partner, as Pikachu can pivot on its own most common counter in Tangela and bring in Neutralizing Gas Koffing to deny its Regenerator, and Pikachu's Fake Out has great synergy with Toxic Spikes. Pikachu's low bulk means it can only switch into the weakest of attacks, so it should be paired with pivots like Raboot, Vullaby, and Slowpoke in order to bring it in safely. Grass-types such as Thwackey and Tangela make for good teammates, as they can remove bulky Ground-types like Piloswine, Marshtomp, and Gabite that stop Pikachu from pivoting.

[SET COMMENTS]

A mixed wallbreaker set takes advantage of both Pikachu's great offensive stats when boosted by Light Ball and its coverage that hits Electric-type switch-ins. Extreme Speed allows Pikachu to overcome its lack of Speed investment and revenge kill faster Pokemon such as Fraxure and Raboot after chip. Volt Switch is boosted by Special Attack investment, letting it hit expected switch-ins like Ferroseed and Charjabug for more chip damage while keeping up momentum. Grass Knot lets Pikachu 2HKO Marshtomp, while Surf guarantees a 2HKO against Piloswine. 56 Speed EVs allow Pikachu to outspeed max Speed Lampent. Lightning Rod boosts Volt Switch and Pikachu's coverage move when Pikachu is switched into an Electric-type attack, so it is preferred over Static.

Pikachu's primary goal is to weaken opposing Pokemon with Knock Off before breaking past them with the help of its teammates or its coverage moves. Pikachu appreciates entry hazards from Stealth Rock Corsola or Spikes Roselia in order to wear down its expected switch-ins in conjunction with Volt Switch. Pokemon with entry hazard removal like Golbat, Gurdurr, and Wartortle are great partners, as this stops Pikachu from taking too much chip damage when pivoting. Consider pairing Pikachu with Electabuzz or Raboot, since they benefit from Pikachu's ability to lure in Ground-types and form a strong pivot core with it. If Pikachu opts for Grass Knot, Pokemon that can check Piloswine and Gabite like Slowpoke and Galarian Corsola are excellent choices, but if it goes for Surf, then offensive teammates like Tangela and Thwackey pressure Marshtomp.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

=============

A Naive nature with full Speed investment lets Pikachu outspeed Golbat and pressure it harder as well as win the Speed tie against opposing Pikachu. Volt Tackle is a plausible alternative to Volt Switch on the FakeSpeed set for significantly more wallbreaking power, but is not preferred, as it means missing out on momentum against Pokemon such as Wartortle and Vullaby. Thunderbolt can be used on mixed sets to 2HKO Gurdurr and Tangela once its their Eviolites have been removed, but this comes at the cost of losing out on pivoting, Knock Off utility, or priority, all of which tend to be more useful.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Tangela can switch into any of Pikachu's attacks and Regenerator lets it to reliably check Pikachu throughout the game. Ferroseed is also a solid Pikachu switch-in, and Thwackey has enough bulk to eat an Extreme Speed and threaten to revenge kill it, however, both lack reliable recovery to continuously check Pikachu.

**Faster Ghost-types**: Choice Scarf Lampent, Timid Gastly, and Drakloak all outspeed Pikachu and can OHKO it with their STAB moves, and they are immune to its priority moves.

**Ground-types**: Bulky Ground-types such as Pilowswine, Gabite, and Marshtomp avoid being KOed by Fake Out and another attack, and they OHKO Pikachu in return with Earthquake. However, they must be wary of being chipped into range of Surf or Grass Knot.

**Item Removal**: Pikachu is very reliant its Light Ball for its offensive power and therefore needs to be careful switching into or staying in on Knock Off users like Clefairy and Vullaby, as well as Corrosive Gas Koffing.

Lastly, Volt Switch allows Pikachu to pivot out of Pokemon which it cannot break past itself such as Tangela and Ferroseed. A Naughty or Lonely nature is used to avoid decreasing the power of Volt Switch. (More Volt Switch power is good, but mention the difference between the two. I personally don't like Lonely because Gurdurr's Mach Punch becomes a big concern when SR is up, also 0 Atk Golbat is very likely to 2HKO with BB. If you know any good tradeoff for Lonely then mention it, otherwise scratch it and keep Naughty only) (Also mention Lightning Rod + Static tradeoffs. Personally, I don't see too good of a reason to use Static, so I'm in favor of removing it and just keeping Lightning Rod. Again, if you have a good reason for Static then mention it here)

Pikachu should mainly use Knock Off and Volt Switch in the early-game (hypen) to cripple opposing Pokemon and getting out of bad matchups, until it can pick off low health targets with its priority moves. Since Pikachu is a physical wallbreaker targets Galarian Corsola and Mareanie, special wallbreakers like Galarian Mr. Mime and Magmar benefit from the removal of these special walls (made this a bit more specific for relevancy + flow. Also, some special walls like Marsh and Ferro also soft check Pikachu, so it's better to not be too broad here). Entry hazard users such as Stealth Rock Marshtomp, Spikes Ferroseed, and Toxic Spikes Koffing help to wear down opposing Pokemon for Pikachu to clean, with Pikachu's Fake Out synergizing especially well with the latter. Pikachu's low bulk means it can only switch into the weakest of attacks, so it should be paired with pivots like Raboot, Vullaby, and Slowpoke in order to bring it in safely. Grass-types such as Thwackey and Tangela make for good teammates as they can remove bulky Ground-types, which stop Pikachu from pivoting, and have access to Knock Off to debilitate walls for Pikachu to break.

A mixed wallbreaker set takes advantage of both Pikachu's great offensive stats when boosted by Light Ball, as well as the lack of mixed walls in the metagame coverage that hits Electric switch-ins (lacking mixed walls in NFE could be misleading when Eviolite helps with everything's mixed bulk. This set more specifically advocates for coverage to hit Grounds unlike the prior set) . (Mention more Speed investment if Pikachu wants to pressure Golbat better, as otherwise it has less switch-ins versus it due to taking too much from Brave Bird; you can transition into the next point on how this spread works with Volt Tackle) Volt Tackle is a plausible alternative to Volt Switch on the FakeSpeed set for significantly more wallbreaking power but is not preferred as it means missing out on momentum. (Broaden this to Grass-types and still keep the entire Tangela sentence. Ferroseed is still a switch-in when needed, and Thwackey is bulky enough to take an Extreme Speed and revenge kill. Also just reorganizing from below)

Since Pikachu targets (common walls such as) Galarian Corsola and Mareanie, special wallbreakers like Galarian Mr. Mime and Magmar benefit from the removal of these special walls since we're talking about special walls here i'd prefer to focus less on removing the walls (which pikachu rarely has the opportunity to do until late game) and more on crippling mixed walls (that can't necessarily avoid taking a knock off) for said special attackers. gorsola is still a good mention, but tang or ferro would be better than mareanie on the second one imo especially with mareanie having scald burn potential in play. gime/magmar are still good examples for corsola, maybe something like ebuzz for tang or kadabra for ferro. Entry hazard users such as Stealth Rock Marshtomp, Spikes Ferroseed, and Toxic Spikes Koffing help to wear down opposing Pokemon for Pikachu to clean, with Pikachu's Fake Out synergizing you accidentally bolded this z hehe especially well with the latter. i think tangela is so relevant as a defensive counter to pikachu here that we can justify an extended sentence focusing on the koffing vs tangela matchup, i.e. pikachu can knock/vswitch on tang and use ngas to deny regenerator if used well. tspikes into fake out is nice but only the second best thing about the pairing. Pikachu's low bulk means it can only switch into the weakest of attacks, so it should be paired with pivots like Raboot, Vullaby, and Slowpoke in order to bring it in safely. Grass-types such as Thwackey and Tangela make for good teammates as they can remove bulky Ground-types which ones? remove this comma also: , which stop Pikachu from pivoting, and have access to Knock Off to debilitate walls for Pikachu to break. kinda true for golbat and not much else; pikachu is more likely to be the one knocking other walls. this could probably be removed since it's not a huge benefit of the pairing but i'm not really opposed to keeping it in if you can word it better/include a relevant example or two. on a side note debilitate carries connotations of like... heavily crippling them in my opinion. something lighter like "impair the defensive ability of" would work better, up to you how you word it though.

"should" is a little much for this unless you truly think it's optimal. reword this to be something like "grass knot needs more chip to sufficiently deal with piloswine/gabite whereas surf is unable to hit marshtomp for notable damage so support pikachu with teammates accordingly". you could do a lot of different things here, i trust you to think of something better. the point is dont make out like pikachu needs slowpoke & gorsola because it really doesn't. you can mention examples of teammates but make sure they're just examples.

[SET COMMENTS]

A mixed wallbreaker set takes advantage of both Pikachu's great offensive stats when boosted by Light Ball, as well as coverage that hits Electric switch-ins. Extreme Speed allows Pikachu to overcome the lack of Speed bold investment and let it revenge kill faster Pokemon such as Fraxure and Raboot after chip. Volt Switch is boosted by Special Attack investment letting it hit expected switch-ins like Ferroseed and Charjabug for more chip damage while keeping up momentum. Grass Knot lets Pikachu 2HKO Marshtomp, while Surf guarantees a 2HKO onto Piloswine. 56 Speed EVs allow Pikachu to outspeed max Speed Lampent. specify why you'd use lrod or static again, point out that the spatk boost helps this set more though so lrod is usually preferred.

Pikachu's primary goal is to weaken opposing Pokemon with Knock Off before breaking past them with the help of its teammates or its coverage moves. Pikachu appreciates entry hazards from Stealth Rock Corsola or Spikes Roselia in order to wear down its expected switch-ins, when used in conjunction with Volt Switch. Pokemon with entry hazard removal like Golbat, Gurdurr, and Wartortle are great partners as this stops Pikachu from taking too much chip damage when pivoting. Consider pairing Pikachu with Electabuzz or Raboot since they benefit from Pikachu's ability to lure in Ground-types, as well as forming a strong pivot core. When opting for Grass Knot, Pikachu should be paired with Slowpoke and Galarian Corsola to check Piloswine and Gabite, but if it tries for Surf then offensive teammates like Tangela and Thwackey pressure Marshtomp.

A Naive nature with full Speed investment lets Pikachu outspeed Golbat and pressure it harder, as well as winning the speed tie against opposing Pikachu. To make up for the loss of power, volt tackle doesn't necessarily need jolly/naive, no need to link the two. Volt Tackle is a plausible alternative to Volt Switch on the FakeSpeed set for significantly more wallbreaking power but is not preferred as it means missing out on momentum on pokemon such as ______. Thunderbolt can be used on mixed sets to 2HKO Gurdurr and Tangela once its their ("its" implies pikachu is losing eviolite) Eviolite has been removed, but this comes at the cost of losing out on pivoting, knock off utility, or priority, all of which tend to be more useful.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Tangela can switch into any of Pikachu's attacks and Regenerator lets it to reliably check Pikachu throughout the game. Ferroseed is also a solid Pikachu switch-in and Thwackey has enough bulk to eat an Extreme Speed and threaten to revenge kill it, however both lack reliable recovery to continuously check Pikachu.

**Faster Ghost-types**: Choice Scarf Lampent, Timid Gastly, and Drakloak all outspeed Pikachu and can OHKO it with their STAB moves, and are immune to its priority moves.

**Ground-types**: Bulky Ground-types such as Pilowswine, Gabite, and Marshtomp avoid being KOed by Fake Out and another attack, and OHKO Pikachu in return with Earthquake. However, they must be wary of being chipped into range of Surf and Grass Knot respectively.

**Knock Off**: Pikachu is very reliant on keeping its Light Ball for its offensive power and is forced out by Knock Off users like Gurdurr, Galarian Linoone, and Clefairy. gurdurr is too strong for this section and glinoone is too fast. replace with defensive options like mareanie or vullaby, maybe koffing if you want to swap "knock off" for "item removal".

With Light Ball, Pikachu is the embodiment of a glass cannon. The combination of Fake Out and Extreme Speed allows Pikachu to reliably revenge kill faster Pokemon such as Electabuzz, Kadabra, and Galarian Mr. Mime, (AC) which helps to circumvent its poor defenses. Fake Out and Extreme Speed having such high priority also helps it to clean weakened priority move users like Thwackey, Piloswine, and Gurdurr. Knock Off cripples switch-ins and nails Ghost-types such as Gastly and Lampent, which are immune to its Pikachu's priority. Lastly, Volt Switch allows Pikachu to pivot out of Pokemon which that it cannot break past itself, (AC) such as Tangela and Ferroseed, and can also be used gain to momentum on Electric-type weak Electric-weak Pokemon, such as Golbat and Mareanie, when Knock Off is unlikely to make progress. A Naughty nature is used to avoid decreasing the power of Volt Switch. Lightning Rod lets it Pikachu block Volt Switch attempts and potentially boost its own, whereas Static has the chance to paralyze foes if Pikachu is hit by a contact move, although it is unlikely to survive in the process.

Pikachu should mainly use Knock Off and Volt Switch in the early-game to cripple opposing Pokemon and getting out of bad matchups (RC) until it can pick off low-health (added hyphen) targets with its priority moves. Since Pikachu targets cripples common walls such as Galarian Corsola and Ferroseed, special wallbreakers like Galarian Mr. Mime, Magmar, and Kadabra benefit from the crippling of these walls. are good teammates with it.
