Monotype Platinum mememons (1600+)

Hi, pikachu<3 here with another team. I was inspired by the well-known incompetence of the Monotype viability rankings, unranking decent mons like Tentacruel, Volcanion, and Cloyster, while giving garbage that should never be used, such as Milotic, D rank. Other notable discrepancies include ranking Sandslash-aloha at A when it's literally weaker and slower than Drilbur, while giving Mega-Sharpedo a pitiful B ranking when it's one of the most powerful cleaners in the game. Inspired by the state of the rankings, I decided to make a team of unranked mons meme ladder with it. I chose to stop at 1600 because that's the highest achievement in the well known Monotype Core Challenge (1600 is platinum). Anyways, enough introductions--on with the team.

Talonflame @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Meme mon #1. I decided to use Talon because base 190 STAB priority is ridiculous and overlooked, and makes Talonflame deadly against certain builds of Hyper Offense. Set is the standard UU set, so there's not much to explain here.

Tornadus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Defog
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Heat Wave

Meme mon #2. Priority Defog supports our focus sash users and Talonflame. I opted not to use hurricane, as it always misses, and instead stacked coverage to lure and kill flying-type resists. Superpower is mandatory to kill Tyranitar, heat wave hits other hazard setters, and knock off serves as a general utility move.

Vivillon @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Hurricane
- Bug Buzz
- Sleep Powder

Meme mon #3. Vivillon is great on HO because sleep is essentially a knock-out blow: a mon that is asleep will never get the time to wake up. Set is STABs, powder, quiver, with sash to act as a emergency check for sweepers, and I opted for a modest nature to offset the fact we're playing on a hazardless field in many games.

Minior @ Focus Sash
Ability: Shields Down
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

Meme mon #4. Milnor helps me compress teamslots, allowing me to fit a setup sweeper and rocks into one teamslot. Edgequake coverage hits most things for neutral damage, SS is a ridiculous boosting move, and stealth rock is there if I need it. Focus sash helps me set up reliably, and can be maintained with the help of Minior's teammates.

Xatu @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Heat Wave
- Stored Power
- Calm Mind

Meme mon #5. Xatu is here to help me preserve my focus sashes, as well as Talonflame's gale wings. I opted for a CM stored power set for a way to beat stall, as most of my mons are focus sash abusers and therefore don't hit that hard. Max def because of calm mind, and heat wave hits targets such as Bisharp and Excadrill.

Honchkrow @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Brave Bird
- Pursuit
- Superpower

Meme mon #6. Honchkrow is a great cleaner, and also traps problematic mons with pursuit. Superpower kills Tyranitar, as well as hitting everything on Rock for decent damage. Sucker punch allows this team to revenge kill threats like Victini and Jirachi more easily, especially z-celebrate variants which typically give flying problems. Jolly nature outspeeds things like Bisharp and Breloom, allowing me to attack them before they hit me with Iron Head or Spore.

That's all. Remember, don't let anyone else tell you what can be used on a competitive team--use the mons you like!
