Alright its time.
Congratulations to agslash23 and BitBitio for winning this week!!

Onto the next week.
:ss/buzzwole:
Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet / Heavy-Duty Boots

Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 152 HP / 168 Atk / 188 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Roost

- Thunder Punch / Leech Life

Buzzwole is an incredible mon at the moment, checking meta tyrants like Weavile and Kartana all while being an offensive powerhouse. It's an incredibly fun pokemon to use and it fits in perfectly in Bulky offenses and also can easily. Now with all that said, what do YOU think pairs well with this pokemon?

You have however long it takes us to remember to start the voting phase to submit a partner, which is probably going to be 5 days.

Reserving G-Slowking

:ss/Slowking-Galar:

Slowking-Galar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 12 Def / 124 SpA / 120 SpD
Calm Nature
- Future Sight
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Scald

G-Slowking and Buzzwole form an incredible backbone of Special-Physical Tank on Offensive teams. Buzzwole handles physical attackers that force Glowking out such as Kartana, Weavile, Garchomp etc.. Similarly, Glowking handles special attackers such as Kyurem, Tapu Koko, Tapu Fini etc.. Further, Future Sight support from Glowking helps Buzzwole power past its checks such as Corviknight, Toxapex etc.. Future Sight + Buzzwole's STABs provide perfect coverage, and is very easy to execute.

Example of how :Slowking-Galar: + :Buzzwole: core works

:Slowking-Galar: switches into :Buzzwole: check like :Toxapex:(lacking Knock of course)
:Slowking-Galar: sets up FS, while :Toxapex: switches out and :Weavile: comes in
:Buzzwole: switches into :Weavile: and takes some damage
:Buzzwole: clicks Close Combat and 2 scenarios are possible :

1) :Weavile: switches out and :Toxapex: switches in.

124 SpA Slowking-Galar Future Sight vs. 252 HP / 112 SpD Toxapex: 216-254 (71 - 83.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
166+ Atk Buzzwole Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Toxapex: 61-72 (20 - 23.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
Thus 91 - 107% Damage

Hence Pex has a high change to get OHKOed

2) :Weavile: stays in and gets OHKOed

Nsfw pls ban (Tapu Fini) @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draining Kiss
- Scald
- Taunt
- Calm Mind

These 2 form an absolutely goated core for Balance/Bulky Offense. Together they form a wallbreaker-Stallbreaker/Wincon combo, also capable of checking a laaaaaaarge portion of the metagame.

:Bisharp:, :Garchomp:, :Excadrill:, :Kartana:, :Landorus-Therian:, :Melmetal:, :Rillaboom:,:Scizor:, :Urshifu:, :Weavile::Ferrothorn: and :Zeraora: are checked by Buzzwole and :Blissey:, :Clefable:, :Dragapult:, :Heatran:, :Hydreigon:, :Tapu fini:, :Urshifu:, :Toxapex:,:Weavile: and :Volcarona: are checked by Tapu Fini. As you might have seen , that's *quite* an extensive list, and others can be covered by teammates, so yeah Mermaid X Mosquito, that's something I thought I would never type.

(ik some of these are conditional checks)

:ss/Hippowdon:

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic / Whirlwind
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock

Short unfun explanation: Buzzwole compliments Hippowdon in that it beats stuff like Weavile, Kartana, Rillaboom, and Rocky helmet can punish Urshifu and greedy Weavile very hard
Hippowdon helps Buzzwole win vs Garchomp with toxic dare it stay in, checks Volcarona, Can take pult sballs in a pinch, sets up rocks, checks tapu koko, checks galarian slowking if you aren't using leech life and provides a better heatran matchup thanks to the special defense investment
Truly a magnificent friendship

Fun explanation: Imagine this, you're a lonely mosquito thing :Buzzwole: traversing the woods, all alone
You feel confident as the wild :Kartana: , :Rillaboom: and :Weavile: have nothing on your sheer strength
Suddenly, you feel a disturbance
A scream in the distance, who could it be?
As you run or fly to the source I have no clue how this thing travels
You see a lone :Hippowdon: , surrounding itself in a strong sand stream and stealths rocks and weakened earthquakes trying to fend off a group of physical attackers
But they're all too powerful
You can't just stand by and watch, and so you rush over
You take the :Kartana:'s boosted knocks and smart strikes and kill them with close combat, your attack raising with each KO
You take :Rillaboom: grassy glides with ease, their grassy terrain healing preventing the sand from affecting you, killing it with leech life patching yourself up
:Weavile:'s triple axels may hurt, but they aren't enough to stop you as you recover again with leech life
And you barely hang on, but you finish off their boss :Garchomp: with an ice punch, as it was previously weakened by :Hippowdon:'s toxic
A zeraora in the distance sees the ruckus, and runs away lol (what a loser!!!)
You think it's over, but you still don't feel at ease
Suddenly, a bunch of special attackers come to ambush you
:Tapu Koko:, :Volcarona:, :Dragapult:, :Heatran:, :Slowking-galar:
You're done for, you brace yourself as you apologize to :Hippowdon:, yet it steps up
It pushes you away, taking :Tapu koko:'s dazzling gleam with ease and killing it
:Dragapult: locks itself into a powerful Draco meteor, lowering its special attack more and more as :Hippowdon: recovers with Slack off eventually finishing it off with earthquake, knowing it can take its shadow balls decently well
As :Volcarona: starts dancing for some reason, :Hippowdon: says mean things to it and it gets poisoned then dies (epic win)
:Slowking-galar: tries to take it down with ice beam, but as :Hippowdon: heals up with Slack off and outspeeds it, it's done for
Finally big boss :Heatran: is up, taunting it from using Slack off
It fires off its signature Magma storm, you cover your eyes hoping for the best
Lmao it missed jk nvm heatran gets oneshot wouldn't have ko'd anyway
And that's the story of :Hippowdon: and :Buzzwole:'s friendship

magnezone

:bw/magnezone:
Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Toxic

Magnezone helps Buzzwole with trapping and removing Skarmory and Corviknight, which are reliable walls against it. and removing them helps Buzzwole to combat better during the battle. It can also put pokemon like Dragonite, Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Volcarona on a timer with inflicting Toxic on them. It can also help against Zapdos and puts it on a timer. Buzzwole admires these facts alot and in return it can help against Landorus-T, as well as Garchomp, it can also pressure Blissey really well and it reliably walls Rillaboom, Kartana, and Landorus-T and can hit them super effectively with its Close Combat STAB and Ice Punch coverage. It can also help against Garchomp to an extent. Both however are very pressured still from pokemon like Heatran, Tapu Lele, and Volcarona, so pairing them up with Galarian Slowking can be optimal here. But in overall they are a great core and put pressure on a lot of pokemon in the metagame. :magnezone:  :buzzwole:

Weavile takes advantage of buzzwole's wallbreaking as well as its ability to lure in and damage threats like Toxapex, and being able to overload Corviknight is an added benefit as well

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Metal Sound
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon

This is my submission for a Buzzwole partner. It's a very fun set, but I haven't made a proper spread yet so I don't know if this is the most efficient one. Anyway, speed is for Skarmory, max special attack for maximum damage output and rest in hp to increase bulk. Magically, those EV hit a perfect X/16 hp number for Leftovers recovery.
This Aegislash set aims at taking advantage of the main threats to Buzzwole, including Kyurem, Tapu Lele, Skarmory, Corviknight, Clefable, Tapu Fini ecc, by either clicking a powerful STAB move or setting up.

Substitute+Metal Sound allows Aegislash to break through sturdy special walls without being stalled out of Shadow Balls and Flash Cannons. This set is especially painful for fatter teams, which are usually the worst matchups for Buzzwole, who rather excels against more offensive teams.

Buzzwole itself notably takes on Aegislash's Ground and Dark weaknesses like a champ, creating a neat defensive sinergy with Aegislash's ability to take on Fairy, Flying and Psychic types.

:bw/Heatran: @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 216 SpD / 44 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Heavy Slam
- Stealth Rocks

Heatran is a great partner for offensive buzzwole as it appreciates its typing to take moves such as hurricanes, psychic, moonblast, fire moves from volcarona, zapdos, blaziken, latios, and dragapult, and powerful draco meteors from pokemon like dragapult. It also threatens many pokemom with magma storm and heavy slam to pokemon that would otherwise check or even counter buzzwole like tapu lele, clefable, skarmory, corviknight, and toxapex. Heatran can set up stealth rocks to pressure pokemon even further pressure pokemon like corvknight, skarmory and force them to take even more chip in addition to buzzwole's attacks. Buzzwole can use heatran to take on ground type pokemon such as garchomp, landorus-t, and excadrill with its bug typing and great physical bulk.

168+ Atk Buzzwole Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 160-189 (40 - 47.2%) -- 43% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
168+ Atk Buzzwole Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight: 160-189 (40 - 47.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Blacephalon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Overheat
- Trick

seems pretty baseless at first but the amount of defensive cores that fall apart to blace, including the fact that it can promptly avoid getting revenged by any of scarf kart, weavile (and while bad, rillaboom) by bringing in buzzwole is laughable. if buzzwole is not running tpunch blace has a likelyhood of muscling through mixed toxapex for buzzwole after enough chip, easier to get around slowbro and utility clef which buzzwole is thankful for offensively

Anyway, I'd choose :Zapdos:

:heavy-duty boots::sm/Zapdos::heavy-duty boots:
Static
248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Discharge
- Hurricane / Toxic

I remember this from the good ol days. These two wall the nearly entire physical metagame. Buzzwall is every physical attacker's worst nemesis except for those who have a flying type move, one which Zapdos resists and punishes with a potential paralysis which makes it easier for Buzz to kill them. Zapdos threatens the likes of Pex and Corviknight for Buzz while also easing up the pressure against Kartana. Hurricane is slashed with toxic because hurricane never hits and it would make life more difficult for Garchomp and Lando who think they can block a volt switch. There is one potential problem with this core, Tapu Lele straight up rips it to shreds. Then again, you should have a plan for Lele in the first place. Well, not just Lele but every special attacker, which again, you should have a plan

A > C > B > G > everyone else

For me Slowking-Galar is the best option. Its typing, covering Buzzwole's weakness to Fairy and Psychic-type and recibing neutral damage from Flying and Fire-type makes him a perfect teammate.
It's own weaknesses to Dark and Ground-type are compensated with Buzzwole's resistances. Buzzwole's checks such as Hawlucha, Tapus, Clefable, Future Sight users suchs as the own Slowbro, Blaziken, or Tangrowth are easily worn down by Slowbro-Galar.

A > D > B > G > H > D > C > F > I = E
A > H > B > G > D > F > E > C > I
C>D>G>A=B=E=F=H=I
A > C > B > G > D > I > E = F = H
D > E > B > C > G > I > F > H > A
A > C > B > G > D = E = F = H = I

With these votes in the winner for this round goes to :slowking-galar: by agslash23 congrats for winning this round onto the next round.

Round 34 Volcanion
:ss/volcanion:
Volcanion @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Sludge Bomb

Volcanion has been gaining a lot more usage as a deadly wallbreaker with its high Special Attack and decent bulk meaning it will not go down so easily. Water Absorb is a decent ability for it helping it dissuade Urshifu-R from clicking Surging Strikes while also being able to check Tapu Fini. Access to a variety of coverage such as Earth Power and Sludge Bomb that allows for it to hit Toxapex while the latter hits Tapu Fini. With these things being said what are some good partners for this rising star.

You have 72 hours to post a partner!!

Pivot Tapu Koko

Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 12 HP / 32 Def / 248 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn
- Roost

koko is a great mon in ou right now and volcanion is just another big hitter that greatly appreciates its pivoting abilities. the sinergy between the two lies in the fact that koko mostly lures in bulky grounds and grass types, which volcanion eats for breakfast. furthermore, tapu koko has a great speed tier and is a good check to the electric types, compensating two of volcanion's main weaknesses in the meta. with koko, timid would be the preferred nature for volc to always outspeed the most common variants of lando and tran, two notable koko switchins that volcanion can use to fire off its attack. finally, being two special attackers they put great pressure on specially bulky pokemon like bliss and glowking, especially with steam eruption's nasty 30% burn rate.

Scizor and Volcanion are a great pairing, as Scizor is able to check Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Kyurem, and Pokemon such as Rillaboom, Kartana, and Tapu Bulu for it, which can all be dangerous to Volcanion because of their strong STAB moves and their coverage options. Scizor can also handle Pokemon such as Toxapex with removing their items via Knock Off, making it easier for Volcanion to break past these defensive threats. Scizor can also help against special walls such as Galarian Slowking and Blissey with a strong Knock Off, U-turn allow for Volcanion to be brought in safely as well, which makes Scizor an excellent choice. Furthermore Volcanion can help against Corviknight, Skarmory, and Magnezone, which all can wall Scizor very well, due to its strong Steam Eruption and its strong Flamethrower, where the former can even threaten burns on checks such as Galarian Slowking or Toxapex for Volcanion itself. With that being said, both are an extremely great couple and can put pressure on a lot of Pokemon in the metagame with Scizor having the tools to remove items and pivoting for Volcanion and Volcanion can pressure Scizors most consistent checks in return.

Edit: The nature Sassy is chosen as it allow Scizor for slower U-turns which can help Volcanion to be brought in more safely and consistently.

Rillaboom's unique access to Grassy Surge and Grassy Glide makes him the perfect revenge killer in OU. Volcanion's checks such us bulky Water-types, that can resist his attacks, like Seimistoad and Swampert, suffer from Grassy Glide STAB, receiving several damage. Rillaboom also checks Ground-types that can threaten Volcanion, like Hippowdon. It also provides Knock Off support, removing Leftovers from bulky Pokemon or Heavy-Duty Boots, so enemy Pokemon recieve chip damage from entry hazards in order to ease Volcanion's sweep. On the other hand, Volcanion threatens Rillaboom checks like Corviknight and Skarmory with his Fire-type attacks.
