Pokémon Presents - Pokémon Day 2025 - Pokemon ZA Info & Pokemon Champions Announced

GameCube NSO being Switch 2 only might partially be due to storage concerns. GameCube games are a couple gigs or so each and that can easily add up for an app holding a bunch of them, especially when standard Switch models only have 32gb of internal storage. They potentially wouldn't be able to download the GameCube app out of the box.
yeah I also assume there's other emulation problems, I vaguely remember MVG talking about it in the past.

also I will say I have a lot of nostalgia for Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness but I wouldn't say either are actually good games, the former especially is deeply flawed. XD is a lot better but it removed a lot of the weird jank (and charm) of Colosseum.

it's not a guarantee for a performance patch though, it states that it could receive that, or a patch for GameShare.

I do think it'll be a performance patch, there is a chance they're just.. moving on from SV though.
GameShare would be an unusual addition to SV since its multiplayer is very...."everyone has their own game" focused

Like, everything I can think of that would use GameShare on SV, would require an asterisk of "this requires additional development work anyway"

if gen 10 doesn't release on true physical format or if it costs 90 euros I'm going to become the next Lyssandre

Honestly I don't expect much from the SV update. Simply because it would kind of canibbalize on ZA.

I have mixed feelings on the ZA update because on one hand it feels like simply a perfomance upgrade shouldn't be paid, but on the other hand if it adds actual important differences like some people are theorizing (exclusive Mega, event, whatever) it would set such an incredibly bad precedent.

Anyways I'm kinda worried about the buildings now. I actually didn't mind their lack of in SV, but because most of thr game you are out explorikg the wilderness anyways. If your game is set in a single city...I shoukd be able to get into most of the interesting buildings.

I call dibs on being one of the forgettable Team Flare Admins!

$10 extra for the physical version of Mario Kart honestly makes me a little glad they make it so movesets don't carry between new games because it made me less interested in future games. (Transferring Pokemon to future games not transferring movesets isn't the same when I feel like the movesets are a major part of what makes the Pokemon different from another Pokemon of the same speciese.) The prices and the fact that the tech demo game is something you have to pay extra for is making me think about not getting the Switch 2.

This is giving the the feeling that they might be okay with letting the Switch 1 version of Z-A have some lag issues to make the Switch 2 version look even better. My first thought about possible Switch 2 exclusive stuff is they wouldn't do that... Then I started if my optimism was misplaced because of the greed Nintendo showed... Game Freak isn't Nintendo, but they're close enough that I have to worry. Now I'm waiting until data mines to see if there's any Switch 2 exclusive stuff before seeing if I want Z-A.

Y'know, considering the ridiculous prices, the physical ghost cartridges and all that stuff you guys are talking about, I'm not getting a Switch 2 any soon unless it happens something like the 3DS initial failure back to 2011, which made them change their policy.

However, that's unlikely to happen as whenever something similar to a boycott (whether you agree with it or not) has been suggested by the community since then, nothing has been achieved. Think of SwSh breaking records in terms of sales or the slow but steady increase in Switch Online subs every year. Today, no one can imagine Dexit being removed nor Nintendo online being for free again.

But that doesn't mean acting as if we could do nothing is right neither. That's why I haven't bought SwSh nor have I got Switch Online so far.

So, even if I really liked the late Switch Pokémon era (PLA and SV) and I was willing to see what Gen X had to offer (because btw I am a little optimistic about it), I will be preparing myself psychologically not to get the Gen X games just because of Nintendo's policies, which have got to a point which I can't stand by any means. Z-A will be the last new Pokémon game I will be playing for a while, on my original Switch, and I hope it will be as nice as I'm expecting it to be, even in this version.

And who knows, maybe I end up playing Gen X some day if I want to, but I guess that would be in the far future.

Only two games have been confirmed to use the ghost cartridges so far and both are third party, we don't know how widespread it will be or how many first-party games will use it because none of the first party games have the boxart mention having game key cards instead of cartridges the way the two third party games confirmed to use them do

Yeah, the prices are just unreal. I mean, from what I understand on it, there does seem to be a reason for it, trying to account for tariffs ahead of time and any supply chain issues that they might cause. Thank you again, Games Journalism for making me rely on an actually credible outlet to get some idea about this. And it doesn't matter anyways because the country they are using to dodge the tariffs just got hit with a harder one than China which they were using before... Regardless though, this may be an issue for the foreseeable future with not just Legends ZA.

Gotta say tho, Squeenix are out of their minds to not include a 11GB game on a regular cartridge.
Square's just really weird sometimes.

They easily could have gotten most of the Kingdom Hearts games to run on Switch natively. Hell, even if they had to comprise performance for some reason the bugs tied to framerate in I and II might have fixed themselves. But cloud versions were used for the games all instead.

So what do we call the odds on Pokemon Home compatibility for the Orre games? The moveset flattening introduced with SV means anything Gen 3 or earlier is feasible to get in or out, and unlike Stadium as a battle sim, these games did have selling points in collecting and eventually trading Pokemon in and out.

Pretty much guaranteed, especially since iirc Shadow Pokémon get a special ribbon for being purified. It'll probably be easier than transferring from Gen I and Gen II on 3DS because they don't have to fiddle with Pokémon data to convert it to the IV system or give abilities.

Until you remind the NSO Stadium games had no compatibility with cart games and you cannot transfer to/from them.

There is a very high chance the Orre game will not have any transferability.

50%. Either it'll happen, or it won't. :psysly:

Really, it's tough to say. Gens 1 and 2 VC proved that they can do it if they want to, even if it is just one-way. The Stadium games didn't have the link, and that was thoroughly stupid.

Ppl winning Kanto starters in St1 must've gotten heated for not being able to withdraw them :totodiLUL:
