Challenge (Finished) Pokemon Polished Crystal NuzBLocke

Chapter 42. The adventures of Huesitos.

I now need to train 3 Mons. I choose Huesitos (Cubone), Gaseosa (Koffing) and Coral (Corsola) for that..

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Actually the above picture is pretty wrong in terms of colors, this is the real sprite:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

During the training, most of the time was spend at Mount Mortar. Why? Because of this:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Supposedly Cubone have 5% to hold Thick Club, but I am pretty sure I killed more than 20 Cubones before getting one.

After the training, I go to Laventer Town and enter the Radio Tower. Despite rumour of something weird happening there, there is nothing of interest except the Radio Expansion Card.

With my Radio updated, I go to Vermilion City. Not to wake up the Snorlax, but the Vileplume of Shamouti Island:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

No special moves on this Vileplume, but an Absorb Bulb instead. Not a bad item.

Catching Vileplume allows me to enter Shamouti Tunnel, inwhich the cave music from DPP sounds.
I defeat some trainers and then find a guy who wants to buy my Nuggets at a high price:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

On the other side of the Tunnel, there is Warm Beach:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Best Unova Route theme (Route 11) sounds here. As in every Orange Islands area, there are no wild Mons despite having grass.

In the house there is an old couple without dialogue and also a book that tells the story of Kanto Legendary Birds and Lugia.

To the south, there is another house:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Inside there 2 Move Tutors, but both teach the same move, Body Slam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Even more to the South, there is a Shrine with a talking Slowking:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

In the actual beach, there a dude that sells Shell Bells, I buy one:

I use Surf in the Water, arriving to Shamouti Coast. After beating the trainers there, I arrive to the Fire Island:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

At the top of the island, there is a shrine, but nothing else:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

On my way to the second island, I encounter a spanish tourist (though the use of the world "acá" means she might be from Argentina instead):

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

...muy lejos!

Sightseer Pilar ends up being the only trainer of her trainer class in the entire Shamouti Island that doesn,t have a level 50 Bulbasaur. Instead she has 4 Mons, being one of the strongest trainers of the entire island. Unfortunately for her, her lead Antorcha (Magby), used Sunny Day, allowing Huesitos to use Flame Charge twice. Luna the Espeon and Linterna (nick I use quite often) the Lanturn died in one hit. Last Mon had a hilarious nick:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

It died from one Flare Blitz, but the battle was still quite fun due to the nicknames. I swear I wasn,t involved at all in this game, yet there are people out there that think like me when putting nicks.

Ice Island has an Ice Puzzle, of course:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Just like in the previous Island, the only reward for coming there is an item. In Fire Island it was a Heat Rock, here it was an Icy Rock.

The Lighting Island similarly gives me a Damp Rock, but there is nothing else there. Time to leave Shamouti Island.

Back in Kanto, I go to Route 8. I defeat all the trainers there, but there are no wild Mons to catch.
I already caught a Mon in Route 7, but there is another are before Celadon City, Celadon Outskirts. Unfortunately, despite having grass, there are no Mons there, only this house:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

And I can,t even enter inside. Just like Violet Outskirts, I don,t understand the point of this area.

Before going to Celadon City I visit the Underground Path (the open one) and find the Explosion TM there.

Entering into Celadon City isn,t as easy as expected:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Its time to do some robbery:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

First Lefties of the game. Gaseosa gets to keep them.

I finally enter into Celadon City. I get the Curse TM right away at the Celadon Condominium (name of the building changed in this game).
In a house I find Eusine. For me he didn,t give anything useful, but for those yet to see the Legendary Dogs, he shows their Pokedex entries, in order to find them.

There are 2 Departmens Store in this game:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

The right building is just for decoration items, which you can see displayed:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

^Lol, fuck off, I am not getting ruined.

In the other Department Store I buy useful TMs: Safeguard, Bulk Up, Calm Mind, Sword Dance, Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm and Hail.
There is also a Counter tutor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-28.png

Back at the street, there is another useless tutor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-29.png

I check the available Mons at the Casino, and...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-30.png

I can buy a second Eevee! Well, when I get the money. I spend all my money, and get the Eevee:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-32.png

For now Eeveetin stays out, but legal Eeveelutions are Flareon, Leafeon and Glaceon.

There are still 3 TMs to buy at the Celadon Casino, but I don,t have the money for them yet.
I visit a restaurant, and find a familiar face:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-33.png

She is participating at the eatathon contest, but wants a battle for a break:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-34.png

Maylene leads with Hitmontop. Both Gaseosa and JuanPalomo are unfortunately damaged from previous battles, but Gaseosa still burns the Hitmontop before taking Close Combat.
Gaseosa uses Pain Split and takes another CC.
Gaseosa uses Thunderbolt and takes another CC.
Gaseosa finishes Hitmontop:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-35.png

Next is more dangerous, an Electivire. I send Anisoptero, who avoids Thunder.
Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and Eeveeto takes Giga Impact.
Electivire barely lives Moonblast.

I send Huesitos into Giga Impact.

Anisoptero enters and avoids another Thunder.
Anisoptero finishes Electivire with Dragon Pulse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-36.png

Next is Magmortar. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn but is burned by Flame Body. Huesitos avoids Fire Blast.
Huesitos avoids another Fire Blast and uses Flame Charge.
Huesitos kills Magmortar with Earthquake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-37.png

Maylene sends Hitmonlee. One Flare Blitz is enough for him:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-38.png

Same happens with Hitmonchan:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-40.png

Machamp lives, but since Mayelene has level up moves, it uses Dynamic Punch, unable to damage Huesitos.
Next Flare Blitz finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-41.png

Extremely easy battle. So easy, Mayele doesn,t even give any reward.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 43. Campus memories.

I continue exploring Celadon City and in one house I find a useless for me item in a trash can:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

I enter the Celadon Hotel. I challenge a rich boy who has a level 40 Azumarill and Blissey, really underleveled compared to other Kanto trainers.
In the hotel pool, a swimmer gives me Safety Googles:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

In one room, there is a guy that offers Hyper Training:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Unfortunately, he wants Bottle Caps and I don,t have any.
In the last room I visit I find a Poke Doll.

Close to the Gym, there is a new building that provides (hopefully public) education for Kanto:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Canalave City theme plays inside. The building is huge and has Classrooms, principal's office, library, student lounge, cafeteria, pool and faculty offices.

I visit Student Lounge first and hear there about the Celadon Four:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

They all want to battle and are actually threats due to having full teams:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Neesha leads with a level 62 Dewgong, she is not even very underleveled compared to my team. I switch Gaseosa out and send Coral, while Dewgong uses Safeguard.
Dewgong uses Perish Song and takes Power Gem.
Dewgong uses Aqua Tail. Coral's Rocky Helmet deals damage and allows the KO:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Vileplume is next. I switch Coral out, activating Regenerator. Huesitos takes a powerful Petal Dance.
Huesitos kills Vileplume with Flare Blitz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Next Mon has a nickname, its a Blastoise named Shellshock. I send Coral, who avoids Hydro Pump.
Blastoise uses Rain Dance and takes Earth Power. He reveals Leftovers too.
I use Recover expecting to take Hydro Pump, but Blastoise tries Mirror Coat instead.
The previous turn is repeated.
The previous turn is repeated.
The previous turn is repeated, rain stops.

I send Gaseosa, but Blastoise uses Rain Dance again.

Coral takes Hydro Pump.
Then Blastoise reveals Close Combat:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

RIP Coral. Really unexpected death.

I send Eeveeto. He avoids Hydro Pump and drops Blastoise's Special Attack with Moonblast.
Eeveeto uses Dig. The rain ends but Blastoise puts it again before being hit.
Blastoise hits a powerful Hydro Pump before Eeveeto Dig again. While Eeveeto is underground, Neesha heals Blastoise who then is hit by Dig.
Eeveeto uses Dig again, avoiding Mirror Coat and then an Hydro Pump.
Eeveeto uses Dig, avoiding another Mirror Coat and Close Combat. Blastoise is killed:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Wigglytuff is next. Eeveeto drops its Special Attack with Moonblast while it uses Defense Curl.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast and takes Double Slap.
Eeveeto kills Wiggly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Rapidash is next. I would have liked to have Coral vs him. Since I don,t, I send Gaseosa, taking Flare Blitz.
Rapidash activates Quick Claw and uses Fire Blast, surviving Sludge Bomb.

I send JuanPalomo, who takes another Fire Blast.

I fear that random Quick Claw, so I send Huesitos, who takes another Fire Blast.
I heal Huesitos, avoiding Fire Blast.
Huesitos takes Fire Blast and kills Rapidash with Shadow Claw:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Last is Ninetales. Normally, it would have been an easy win for Huesitos, but its Fire Ghost in this game. I am lucky it doesn,t have Drought. I send Eeveeto, taking Confuse Ray.
Eeveeto takes Flamethrower and manages to attack with Moonblast, not only critting, but also dropping the Special Attack of the fox.
Eeveeto takes another Flamethrower and uses Shadow Ball.

Since Eeveeto is weak already, I send Anisoptero, who is burned by Flamethrower.
Anisoptero finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Despite using level up moves, Neesha was a strong opponent and managed to kill my one Regenerator Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

There are still at least 3 strong trainers at this University and I need a new Mon. I have just 2 Water Mons in the PC, but they are not the only Surfing Mons available. Kanto Raichu doesn,t learn Surf, but Alolan does. So, I take Sagua (Pichu) out of the PC... and then realize I spent my Odd Souvenir on Huesitos. Plan B then, I need to train an actual Water type in Laud (Squirtle).

Fortunately for Laud, in the last chapter I went to Battle Tower and after winning 7 battles, I got this item:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

This makes it possible to get Mega Launcher. Both Specs and Shell Smash sets will be powerful with that ability.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

After the training (which went quick), I go back to the University, entering Student Lounge again. In a book there I find a secret compartiment with an item:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

The rest of the students at the lounge just tell some jokes or Pokemon facts, remaining Celadon Four are not there.

I go back to the main hall, where I hear the lore of the University:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

...to greatness!

I enter then to a History classroom. Students there like the subject and even have a timeline at the blackboard:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

At the Art classroom, I find a member of Celadon Four, who gives me Miror B vibes:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

...Imakuni!

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

...dance!

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

A Miror B theme would be heat here, but unfortunately this clown just has a regular battle one. Imakuni leads with Golduck that uses Amnesia but gets crit by Dark Pulse from Laud (who I realize is still injured after the training):

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

Next is Farfetch'd. I send Gaseosa into Hi Jump Kick.
Farfy uses Brave Bird and crits:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-28.png

Gaseosa manages to burn the duck. I send Laud, getting an Air Slash.

I immediately switch Huesitos into the obvious Hi Jump Kick, Farfetch'd crashes.

I send Laud back, getting critted by Air Slash.

Huesitos comes in and the duck suicides:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-29.png

Slowbro is next. I switch Anisoptero while it uses Amnesia.
Anisoptero uses Bug Buzz, Slowbro sets Rain Dance.
Anisoptero uses another Bug Buzz and takes a very powerful Psychic.
Anisoptero finishes Slowbro:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-30.png

Dodrio is next, very scary Mon. Anisoptero crits U-Turn while escaping from it. JuanPalomo takes Drill Peck.
JuanPalomo uses Return and survives Thrash in red.
JuanPalomo kills Dodrio:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-31.png

Imakuni sends Hypno. JuanPalomo heals with Roost while the psychic Mon uses Future Sight.
Hypno activates Quick Claw but misses Toxic, getting hit by Return.

JuanPalomo uses U-Turn and I send Laud, who is immune to Toxic but takes more than I expected from Future Sight.

I switch Eeveeto in, but Imakuni withdraws his Mon too and sends my worst nightmare...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-32.png

Nothing to do here but trying to outplay. Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball and Wobba puts a Safeguard, revealing Leftovers of all items.
Eeveeto uses Dig and gets hit by Counter.
Eeveeto uses Draining Kiss, avoiding Counter.
Eeveeto uses Dig again, getting hit by Counter.
Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball, avoiding Counter.
Eeveeto finishes the dangerous Uber:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-33.png

The already very damaged Hypno tries to use Nasty Plot but dies to Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-34.png

Imakuni gives me a Persim Berry for winning against him. This was a very close to disaster battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-35.png

I continue exploring the Art Classroom, Shiyo certainly would love a book I see:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-36.png

...Pokemon artist.

I visit University's principal, Profesor Matsumoto. He gives me a Rare Candy and tells that he gives them regularly.

Nothing interesting is at Science Classroom. The last Classroom is the Battling one. One student there gives me an Ability Capsule.
Of course, in the Battling Classroom one of Celadon Four just has to be:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-37.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-38.png

Ray leads with Donphan. A vanilla Blastoise would have no problem vs it, but since in this game Donphan has Sturdy and Laud is Steel type, I have to switch out and send Gaseosa into the obvious Earthquake.
Gaseosa misses WoW and gets the speed dropped with Scary Face.
Donphan crits with Giga Impact and gets burned.
Gaseosa heals with Pain Split for free.

I send Huesitos into Giga Impact.
Huesitos kills the elephant with Flare Blitz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-39.png

Next is Golem. Gaseosa comes in again and takes Stone Edge.
Gaseosa heals with Pain Split and takes Double Edge.

Laud comes into Gyro Ball, taking almost no damage.
Laud deletes the rock:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-40.png

Pinsir comes. I send Gaseosa while it uses Sword Dance.
Pinsir uses Thrash:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-41.png

Phew, that was close.

I send Huesitos into the next hit.

Ray withdraws Pinsir and sends a Charizard named Firebrand into Flare Blitz.
Huesitos takes Crunch and boosts the speed with Flame Charge.
Huesitos kills Charizard with Earthquake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-42.png

Ray sends Venomoth, who gets OHKOd by Flare Blitz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-43.png

Pinsir comes back and suffers the same fate:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-44.png

Last is Machamp. I send Eeveeto while it uses Bulk Up.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast and gets confused by Dynamic Punch.

Huesitos comes back into the next punch.
Huesitos finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-45.png

Quite easy battle, although Gaseosa almost died:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-47.png

I visit the library next. There, a student gives me a Focus Band. The titles of the books are funny:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-48.png

There are also computers in the library with interesting content:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-49.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-50.png

Next place I visit is Profesor Westwood's office. I don,t find the actual profesor, but portraits of his ancestors and a diary in which he admits that he plagiates works of other people.

Profesor Willow on the other hand is an honest woman, though she sends her assistants too to do most of her research works.

On a coridor I find something that Huesitos might be interested in:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-51.png

At the Swimming Pool I find a Water Stone and also the remaining member of Celadon Four:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-52.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-53.png

Fergus leads with Gyarados vs Laud. I send Gaseosa while it uses Rain Dance.
Gyarados uses Hurricane and survives Thunderbolt.

Laud takes the next Hurricane.
Gyarados uses Outrage and still survives a Specs Dark Pulse.
After another Outrage, Laud kills Gyarados:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-54.png

Rain stops and Empress comes. Who Empress? A Nidoqueen. I send Gaseosa into Earth Power.
Nidoqueen uses Outrage and is burned.
After taking another Outrage, Gaseosa heals with Pain Split.
Nidoqueen uses another Outrage and takes Sludge Bomb, which deals almost no damage.
Nidoqueen uses Outrage and takes Sludge Bomb.
Nidoqueen uses Outrage and takes Sludge Bomb.
Nidoqueen uses Outrage and takes Sludge Bomb.
Fertgus heals Nidoqueen, who takes another Sludge Bomb.
I heal Laud, Gaseosa takes Outrage. Due to Nidoqueen having Leftovers, she will never die from the burn.
Nidoqueen uses another Outrage, Gaseosa heals with Pain Split.

I send Laud, but this is the turn Nidoqueen decides to damage herself.

Gaseosa comes into Earth Power.

Laud comes into Outrage.
Nidoqueen uses another Outrage and dies from Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-55.png

Tentacruel is next. I send JuanPalomo to take Hydro Pump.
JuanPalomo uses Roost and avoids Hydro Pump.
JuanPalomo uses Return. Tentacruel drops his defense with Screech.
JuanPalomo finishes Tentacruel:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-56.png

Golduck is next. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and I send Laud. The duck uses Amnesia.
Golduck uses Hydro Pump and takes Dark Pulse.
Golduck uses Hydro Pump again and dies from Dark Pulse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-57.png

Fergus sends Vaporeon. Its time for Eeveeto to come into Hydro Pump.
Vaporeon misses Hydro Pump and has its Special Attack dropped by Moonblast.
Vaporeon resorts to attack from the physical side with Double Edge, taking another Moonblast.

JuanPalomo takes next Double Edge.
JuanPalomo kills Vaporeon with Return:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-58.png

Last is Kingdra. So, this Fergus dude is the meme trainer from first Pokemon movie that said that all his Mon are Water type when in fact he had a Nidoqueen.
JuanPalomo uses Roost to see what Kingdra does. Big mistake, it uses Dragon Dance.

Kingdra activates Quick Claw but misses Hydro Pump. Palomo escapes with U-Turn and I send Anisoptero.

I send Eeveeto into Dragon Pulse.
Kingdra uses Hydro Pump, Eeveeto recovers with Draining Kiss.
Eeveeto takes another Hydro and finishes the battle with Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-59.png

Fairly easy battle this one, though very long:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-60.png

Despite me defeating the Celadon Four, there are still 2 rooms to explore. First has the name of "Hyper Test Room". There I meet Profesor Westwood, who tells me that he is the best Profesor here and will win prizes. But he also offers me to do the Hyper Test, 6 questions that will give me some prize:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-61.png

First question:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-62.png

I answer correctly that the Pokemon is Smeargle seen from above a Glaceon.

The second question is a Slowking cry that I identify. Blissey and Venomoth are very wrong answers, but Qwilfish is one unaware students could try.
Third question gives me 4 medicines and I have to guess which one is bitter, answer is Heal Powder.
Fourth Question is about a Mon that has Dry Skin, Sandslash certainly has, but the correct one is Parasect.
Fifth question is weird:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-63.png

Smells? Didn,t know that Blue was a smell. In any case, Oran Berry looks blue.

Sixth question is about the most accomplished profesor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-65.png

I remember the Lisbon Gym in Pokemon Iberia in which you had to answer 3 questions: "Who is the most handsome? Who is the richest? Who is the best player?" The answer to all 3 was the name of the Gym Leader, Cristiano Ronaldo. This last question has the same style.

The prize is... a Magikarp with Dragon Rage. Can,t use him unfortunately.

Last place I visit is Cafeteria... and there I learn that Imakuni in fact was not one of the Celadon Four, since I meet the actual last member of the group:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-66.png

This chapter however has already extended way beyond reasonable lengths, so I finish it here.

Chapter 44. Burning the garden.

First thing I do is battling Corey:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Corey leads with Pidgeot. It uses Air Slash and takes Flash Cannon from Laud.
Pidgeot uses Air Slash again and takes another Flash Cannon.

Corey withdraws Pidgeot and sends Rhydon, who takes a heave hit from Flash Cannon.
Laud finishes Rhydon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Corey sends Hitmonlee. Gaseosa switches into Close Combat.
Gaseosa takes another Close Combat and uses Sludge Bomb.
Hitmonlee leaves Gaseosa in yellow but dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Pidgeot comes back. As I send Laud back into the field, the bird heals with Roost.

Corey withdraws Pidgeot again and sends a Sandslash into Flash Cannon.

Earthquake means a free switch-in for Gaseosa.
Gaseosa burns Sandslash, who sets a Sandstorm.
Gaseosa uses Sludge Bomb and takes a very weak Gyro Ball.
Gaseosa uses Sludge Bomb. Sandslash dies after using another Gyro Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Corey sends Pidgeot for 3rd time. Laud comes into Air Slash.
Laud takes another Air Slash and uses Flash Cannon.
Pidgeot heals and takes Flash Cannon.
Pidgeot heals and takes Flash Cannon.
Pidgeot heals and takes Flash Cannon. Its Special Defense drops.
Pidgeot continues healing and takes another Flash Cannon.
Pidgeot heals once again and Laud runs out of Flash Cannon PPs.

So, I send JuanPalomo while opposing Pidgeot heals.
Opposing Pidgeot activates Quick Claw and flinches JuanPalomo with Air Slash.

I decide to send Eeveeto into the next Air Slash.
Pidgeot damages Eeveeto a lot with Steel Wing, taking Moonblast.

I switch Huesitos in while Pidgeot uses Roost.
Pidgeot flinches Huesitos.
Pidgeot flinches Huesitos again. Fuck this bird.

I switch JuanPalomo in. He takes Air Slash.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes Air Slash.
JuanPalomo heals again and takes Air Slash.
JuanPalomo heals and takes Air Slash.
Opposing Pidgeot activates Quick Claw and uses Air Slash. JuanPalomo hits it with Return.
JuanPalomo would have dies if that demonic bird activated Air Slash again, but it didn,t, so JuanPalomo wins the Pidgeot duel:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Corey sends Scyther, scary Mon. JuanPalomo heals with Roost and Scyther... uses Baton Pass into Bruteroot, a Venusaur.
JuanPalomo uses Fly and takes Sludge Bomb.
JuanPalomo kills Venusaur:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Only Scyther remains now. JuanPalomo heals while the insect uses Sword Dance.
JuanPalomo uses Fly and takes a crit Night Slash.
As a good burd of prey, JuanPalomo eats the bug:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

^Juan Palomo surronded by University students cheering for him.

For winning against all of Celadon Four, I get a Choice Band as a prize. This last battle was very dangerous due to that haxy Pidgeot:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

The bartender at the Cafeteria has served all dinner already, but has some Leftovers:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

She sells them for 4000. However, with GSC mechanics of having more than 510 EVs, using more than 1 Leftovers feels like cheating. So, from now I am using Item Clause and I already have one Leftovers.

Next challenge will be Erika. However, her ace is at level 65, while Eeveeto and JuanPalomo are at 68, meaning they can,t battle this Gym. I therefore pick Sardinilla (Rapidash) and Triple Bird (Doduo) to train them.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

After the training, I go to Celadon Gym, which should be the easiest one in Kanto despite tricks like this one:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Beauty Julia has a Paras, an Exeggcute and a Parasect. Sardinilla kills them all with Band Megahorn.
Aroma Lady Dahlia has a better team in Vileplume and Bellosom, but Sardinilla OHKOs both with Band Flare Blitz. This is what is about to happen to Erika too, btw.

Time to begin the beatdown:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Erika leads with the one Grass that is not weak to Fire, Sunflora. Fearing Earth Power, I switch TripleBird in.

I switch Sardinilla back, activating Flash Fire.

I send TripleBird again. Sunflora uses Giga Drain. So, it probably doesn,t even have Earth Power.

Sardinilla eats another Flamethrower.
Sunflora uses Giga Drain and Sardinilla incinerates it, though the recoil is enormous:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Sun fades away and Erika sends another Grass not weak to Fire, Politoed. I switch Anisoptero into Scald.

Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn. Laud eats Ice Beam.
Laud uses Ice Beam and takes a powerful Focus Blast that leaves him in yellow.

Anisoptero takes the next Focus Blast.
Anisoptero kills Politoed with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Victreebel is next. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and I send Weezing while the carnivorous plant uses Sunny Day.
Of all things Victreebel could use, it uses Acid, though it does avoid the Will-o-wisp.
Victreebek uses Acid again and is burned.
Victreebel uses Acid again and takes a crit Sludge Bomb.

Ok, its time to finish this joke. Erika is not a pushover, but she still has no chance vs Huesitos. Victreebel uses Healing Light. Sun wears off.
Huesitos uses Flame Charge. Victreebel manages to survive that and puts Sunny Day, but dies from the burn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Tangela comes next. It uses Growth and is murdered by Flare Blitz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Erika sends her ace Vileplume. This one is smart enough to use Solar Beam and bulky enough to survive a Flame Charge in Sun:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Here Erika comits the mistake of trying to heal Vileplume, who dies from 2 more Flame Charges anyway:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Erika has a second ace, a Bellosom. But despite the new Fairy typing, it still stands no chance:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

I get the badge and the Giga Drain TM. I thought I would only need 3 Mons for Erika, but all the team ended up taking damage. Despite that, my advantage vs Grass type was way too big:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 45. Liechi berries enjoyer.

After leaving Erika's Gym, Lyra calls me and tells me she left her Feraligatr at Daycare and her parents discovered an Egg.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

...Day-Care if you want it.

My stock of Water types is going low, so I definetely apreciate that Egg. I check the ORAS Tier list and see Feraligatr isn,t OU, so its clearly legal (ORAS was the Gen in which Gatr was the closest from being OU).

So, I take the Egg and hatch it immediately:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

You can already see the new ability this line has, but its not forever. Feraligatr has the much more useful Intimidate and is also Water-Dark.

Time to reorganize the team a little. Sardinilla goes out and Eeveeto goes in, though he might end up overleved vs Janine too.

I go Celadon City and then to Route 16. Some Sinnoh route theme sounds here. I can catch a Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Magcargo in this game got a 75 points in Stats increase. Defense now is 135 and both Special Stats are 115. Thats not all, since it got moves from future Gens like Recover and Shell Smash and also a new one in Calm Mind. This is now a functional Pokemon.

Route 16 in this game is not just Cycle Road beginning, it goes up to Viridian Forest:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

After facing a trainer with level 63 Raichu, I think its better to clean the weaker trainers of Eastern part of Kanto first, so I don,t continue this way.

I enter the Cycling Road where some future cycling music sounds, probably from Kalos.
Route 17 doesn,t even have wild Mons but lots of Bikers instead, which I beat. Triple Bird almost dies in this route when a Muk explodes on it and many bikers use evil Destiny Bond tricks.

At the end of Cycle Road there is Route 18, but no Mons can be caught here either.
There is also a new area:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

According to the map, it goes to Palet Town, but I don,t want to go there yet.

Instead, I go to Fuchsia City and start exploring the city. At one house, there is a former Safari Zone worker:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

He sells Safari Balls, despite them not being usable anymore. I buy 10 anyway.

Another house is closed:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Safari Zone apparently is still closed in this game, but there is a Liechi Berry tree:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Remember Profesor Ivy wanting 3 Liechi Berries? I go to Valencia Island and give them to her:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

I receive a Moon Stone and then Ivy offers me a battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Ivy leads with Butterfree. TripleBird just OHKOs it with Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Next one is scary, Rhyperior. He is Steel Rock in this game, but Triple Bird has Hi Jump Kick. Rhyperior lives the hit but misses Stone Edge.
Another kick sends Rhyperior to the grave:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Ivy sends Politoed. It uses Perish Song on the Fly turn and survives the hit, only to use Hyper Voice.

Laud takes the next Hyper Voice.
Despite having Perish Song on the last turn, Ivy doesn,t switch Politoed out. It uses Swagger instead, lives Flash Cannon but dies from his own song:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

Nidoqueen is next. Gaseosa easily switches into Earth Power.
Nidoqueen uses Outrage and is burned.

Laud takes next Outrage.
Laud takes a third Outrage hit, but Nidoqueen lives Surf.

I send Gaseosa again. Nidoqueen damages herself and dies from the burn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Ivy sends Victreebel. It uses Sword Dance and is burned.
Victreebel uses Sucker Punch, Gaseosa attacks with Sludge Bomb.
Victreebel heals with Healing Light and takes another Sludge Bomb.

I switch TripleBird in. Victreebel tries to use Sucker Punch.
Victreebel heavily damages TripleBird with Sucker Punch but dies from Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

Last is Gyarados. Gaseosa switches into Outrage.
Gaseosa takes another Outrage and burns Gyarados.
Gaseosa lives the thirn Outrage in red and heals with Pain Split.
Gyarados damages itself and the battle ends with a Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

I don,t get any prize for this easy win:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

Finishing the chapter here. Probably in the next one I will challenge Janine, although Eeveeto and Huesitos are forbidden to participate.

Chapter 46. Heat Safari.

Since battle vs Janine is close, I put Eeveeto and Huesitos in the PC and bring Rocosa (Alolan Graveler) and Tsuchinoko into the team. I change the abilities of both to Serene Grace and Sturdy, spending my 2 current Ability Capsules. I also go Shamouti Island and teach Tsuchinoko Body Slam to abuse Serene Grace.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

After the training, I explore the remaining parts of Fuchsia City. And learn an interesting fact:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

...still open.

Great improvement over the original game. So, I enter into the Safari Zone, which like in RBY is still 4 zones, not one. First zone has the Doduo line, Tangela, Scyther and Exeggcute line... I can,t catch any of them (though I do have some).

East Area has Paras line, Nido line and Tauros. Here I do have something to catch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Parasect didn,t magically become good in this game, but he did get 40 points increase spent in Attack and Defense.

I also find a Silver Powder in East Area and battle a trainer with 3 Tauros.

In the North Area there are the best Mons of Safari Zone: Rhyhorn line, Venonat line, Chansey, Kanga and Pinsir. However, being the best means that all of them (except Venonat, which I already have) have been OU at some point (or Uber, in the case of Kangaskhan), so none are valid.
The Lucky Punch I find in this area would have been useful in Midele Emerald for Ledian, but unfortunately in this game its still a Chansey item.

West Area contains a mix of all the previous Area Mons and I can,t catch none of them.
This area has Lass Duplica, who uses 3 Dittos in a funny battle.

I continue exploring Safari Zone and find a Double Edge tutor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Another trainer has a curious and trans inclusive post-battle dialogue:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

...amazing, wouldn,t you say?

After beating all the trainers, I enter the Secret House and find a Hoenn Gym Leader there:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

She came here because Safari Zone resembles her native hot Hoeen and of course, she wants to show some hot moves too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Flannery leads with Magcargo as Hoenn Gym Leader music sounds. Tsuchinoko uses Dragon Dance but Flamethrower does too much, she can,t do it again.
Tsuchinoko kills Magcargo with Earthquake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Flannery sends a dangerous Magmortar. So dangerous, it outspeeds Tsuchinoko at +1 and uses STAB Focus Blast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

RIP Tsuchinoko. I am in really big danger now.

Rocosa and Sturdy is my only option vs Magmortar. Focus Blast hits and Magmortar lives Band EQ too.

I send Anisoptero and Focus Blast damages him a lot.
Due to Speed Boost, Anisoptero outspeeds Magmortar and kills him:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Arcanine is next. Anisoptero heals with Roost, Arcanine uses Take Down, taking Rocky Helmet damage.
Anisoptero uses Roost and takes another Take Down.
Anisoptero uses Dragon Pulse, Arcanine dies to Rocky Helmet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Flannery sends another dangerous Mon, Houndoom. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and I send TripleBird into a powerful Flamethrower.
One Hi Jump Kick is enough:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Now I have to deal with a Rapidash. It uses Extreme Speed but I switch Gaseosa to take that.
Rapidash misses Fire Blast and is poisoned by Sludge Bomb.
Next Fire Blast hits but Rapidash dies from Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Last is Ninetales, fortunately without Drought. Laud takes Flamethrower.
Second Flamethrower is more powerful and Laud is in KO range now. Ninetales survives Specs Surf.

I sack Rocosa:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

RIP Rocosa.
Sturdy is good, but a Steel type Mon is better to preserve.

TripleBird finishes the battle with Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

No prize for beating Flannery, I lost 2 Mons for free:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

It could have been way worse if Ninetales had Drought or Arcanine had an actual set. I wanted to battle vs Janine in this chapter, but now I have to train 2 new Mons. A shame, since Tsuchinoko using DD would probably have swept Janine alone.

Chapter 47. The Toxic secret.

For new Mons to train I choose Tximeleta (Venonat) and Lava Bosa (Slugma).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

After the training, I go to the Gym, where I beat all the Janine imposters and then challenge the real one:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Janine leads with Crobat vs Lava Bosa. The vampire uses Screech, but White Herb nulifies it, after which Lava Bosa uses Shell Smash.
Crobat uses Aerial Ace and Lava Bosa boosts to +4.
Crobat uses Toxic, Lava Bosa heals with Recover.
Crobat uses Confuse Ray and somehow survives +4 Flamethrower.

I switch Laud into Aerial Ace.
Crobat uses Screech and dies to Flash Cannon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Janine sends Weezing. I send Lava Bosa into Fire Blast.
Lava Bosa takes SLudge Bomb and heals with Recover.

I send Laud again, taking Fire Blast.
Laud uses Flash Cannon... and gets hit by Thunder:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

RIP Laud. The Steel is down.

Lava Bosa goes in again. She takes Fire Blast and uses Shell Smash.
Even at +2, Lava Bosa is slower than Weezing and takes Sludge Bomb before killing it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

If Weezing is faster than Lava Bosa, Qwilfish certainly is too. Anisoptero takes Aqua Tail, damaging the fish with Rocky Helmet.
Qwilfish manages to survive Anisoptero's Psychic but dies from Rocky Helmet damage after using Poison Jab:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Janine sends Nidoqueen. Gaseosa takes Ice Beam.
Gaseosa takes another Ice Beam and burns the Queen.
Nidoqueen continues using Ice Beam, Gaseosa heals with Pain Split.

I send Txiemeleta. Nidoqueen heals with Healing Light.
Tximeleta uses Psychic and gets hit by Ice Beam.
Tximeleta uses Psychic. Nidoqueen heals with Healing Light.
Tximeleta uses Psychic. Nidoqueen still survives and heals again.
Tximeleta continues his offensive, Queen continues the healing.
Tximeleta is still unable to outdamage the healing.
Tximeleta uses Psychic, Nidoqueen now attacks and uses Ice Beam.
I order Tximeleta to heal with Roost, which ends up being a big mistake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Next turn Nidoqueen dies from the burn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Janine sends Ariados. I switch Gaseosa expecting a physical attack, but the spider uses Psychic.

TripleBird takes the next Psychic.
TripleBird kills Ariados with Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Last is ace Venomoth, who can,t survive Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

When not terribly underleveled (like in vanilla Crystal), Janine is quite dangerous, eliminating the one Steel I had and damaging all my team:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

At least now I have the powerful Toxic TM... Oh, no, its Poison Jab instead! Damn, these Ninjas surely love keeping their evil secrets and techniques for themselves.

Tximeleta leaves the team after the battle, so Eeveeto can return. I also need to train a new Mon and it has to be one that can Surf. With few options, I use Gatr (Totodile).

While training Gatr, this happens:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

I catch it, though I won,t use it for anything, since I already had a Crobat. Not even for trading.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

After the Gatr training, I go Route 15. No Mons can be caught there, but I defeat all the trainers, one of which has a Victreebel named Audrey.

No Mons can be caught at Route 14 either. The original Chansey for Aerodactyl trade now its Wobbuffet for Chansey.

At Route 13 a Trainer with a Quilava named Campfire almost killed Lava Bosa with Earth Power. No Mons can be caught in this route once again, but there is something new close to it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Is this something similar to Mirage Island? I check the data of the game and just wind Quagsire and Tentacruel as encounters of the island. Still, it might have some rare item. If its like Mirage Island, I will never see it.

To Route 12 I go, in which again I can,t catch any Mon in the Grass. However, I get the Super Rod in this route and with it, I fish a Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Qwilfish in this game has an usable Special Attak of 75 and decent 100 in Attack and Defense. This combined with Intimidate (which I need a Ability Patch for) makes it quite a useful Mon.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 48. Rock smashing.

I defeat the remaining trainers of Route 12 and enter Route 11. As always, no Mon can be caught here. However, there is the Venoshock TM.

I defeat all the trainers of Route 11 and Gatr beats the Snorlax:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

This allows me to enter Diglett's Cave. Before doing it, I buy the Toxic TM at Celadon Casino. The other 2 TMs there, Double Team and Giga Impact, are worthless.
At Diglett's Cave only Mons that appear are still Diglett and Dugtrio. Since Dugtrio has been OU in Adv and Uber in various generations, I can,t use it.
There are trainers at this cave that I defeat. There is also this guy:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

...up in rocks?

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

I arrive to Route 2 after Digglett's cave. Here I can actually catch a Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Ledian is Bug-Fighting in this. It also got 60 points of Attack increase, meaning it now has... 95. Still a very bad Mon, but at least usable now.

I arriva to Pewter City and explore it. A man gives me an Old Amber:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Unfortunately, I can,t use Aerodactyl. At the Pokemon Center another guy wants a Pinsir and offers a Heracross, but both are illegal.
The Pewter Museum if open in this game and there is another guy there that resurrects fossils:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

What is the one at Diglett's Cave for then?

There is also a Seismic Toss tutor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

With nothing else to do, I go to challenge Brock. There are just 2 trainers in the Gym and my team arrives fully legal this time:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Brock leads with Golem. Somehow, the rock is bulky enought to withtand a Surf from Gatr without Sturdy. But not bulky enough to avoid dying from Rockye Helmet damage after it uses Rollout:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Brock sends Kabutops. Gaseosa takes Giga Drain.
Kabutops uses Surf and is burned.

Anisoptero takes the next Surf.
Kabutops survives Giga Drain boosted by Miracle Seed and uses Surf, but dies from burn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Rhydon is next. If Kabutops survives Giga Drain, this guy surely does it too. So, I send Gatr who intimidates it and takes Avalanche.
Rhydon survives Surf and uses Earthquake.
Another Surf takes it out:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Brock sends Omastar. I send Eeveeto to take Ancient Power.
Eeveeto takes Surf and uses Moonblast.

Omastar uses Protect, so Anisoptero gets in for free.
Anisoptero kills Omastar with Giga Drain:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Brock sends his ace Onix. Unlike the other rocks, this one collapses in one hit:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Last is the most dangerous, Aerodactyl. Gaseosa goes in, but gets confused by Supersonic.
Gaseosa avoids Hyper Beam but misses Will-o-wisp too.
Gaseosa gets hit by Hyperbeam and burns Aero. I retire that thing I said about Aero being the most dangerous Mon.

Eeveeto gets in for free.
Eeveeto gets confused, but attacks with Moonblast, dropping the Special Attack of Aero.
Aerodactyl uses Aerial Ace, Eeveeto damges himself.

Gatr takes next Aerial Ace, damaging Aero with Rocky Helmet.

Lava Bosa takes Hyper Beam.
Crit Flamethrower from Lava Bosa doesn,t kill Aerodactyl, but the burn does:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

We found him, guys! This is the worst Gym leader of the game. Despite him haxing a little and me coming with 3 Rock weak Mons, I wasn,t threatened at all this battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Brock should have evolved his Onix and Rhydon to give more of a challenge. With the current team, he only gives me the badge and the Rock Slide TM for free. He will never find a girlfriend with such a weak team.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 49. Mt. Moon.

I go to Route 3. No Mon is possible to catch here. It at least has new decoration:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

...space?

An ace duo almost kills Lava Bosa, but the Air Balloon I put for Brock saves her:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

At the Pokemon Center before Mount Moon I meet this man:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

The good ending!

I then enter Mount Moon and am immediately confronted by Shiyo:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Shiyo leads with Weavile. It uses Ice Punch and is hit by Moonblast.

I switch Gatr, who kills Weavile with Rocky Helmet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Next one is Magnezone, very dangerous. I switch Eeveeto in, avoiding Zap Cannon.
Eeveeto uses Dig. Apparently, Eeveeto speedties with Magnezone, since the first turn Eeveeto attacks first and the second turn he attacks last. Therefore, Eeveeto avoids both Thunder Wave and Flash Cannon.
Eeveeto isn,t so lucky next turn, being paralyzed, but still kills Magnezone.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Golbat comes, apparently this isn,t last battle vs Shiyo. I send Lava Bosa into Poison Jab, burning Golbat with Flame Body.
Golbat uses Super Fang. Lava Bosa uses Shell Smash, reverting negative stats changes with White Herb.
Golbat uses Super Fang, Lava Bosa heals with Recover.

Shiyo withdraws Golbat. Big mistake, Lava Bosa uses Shell Smash again.
One Earth Power is enough to kill the fire rat:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Gengar comes in. It's faster than +4 Lava Bosa and uses Curse, dying from Flamethrower.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

If Gengar is faster, Alakazam has even more reasons to be. Gatr takes the obvious Psychic.
Zam uses Psychic again, which Gatr is immune to. One Crunch is enough:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Only burned Golbat remains. Gatr uses Crunch and is confuses by Confuse Ray.
Gatr still manages to attack with Crunch next turn, killing Golbat with Rocky Helmet after it uses Super Fang:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Easy battle due to my team having relevant level advantage, but it could have been much different if that Magnezone hit Zap Cannon, since my team was very weak to it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Mt. Moon doesn,t have any Mons to catch. The layout is identical to Gen 1 Mt. Moon, so I get to fight a lot of trainers. There are no rockets but this guy is still here:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

...vived them!

Both Omastar and Kabutops can,t do anything to Gatr. However, his last Mon is a Shiny Umbreon on which Super Nerd Miguel uses Dire Hit while I send Anisoptero, who is the one who benefits from the item, since he crits with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

I pick both fossils in the above image, though those are not revived. I revive them at Pewter Museum:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Omastar is one of those Mons that has never been OU but has always been viable in the Tier. Unfortunately this also means it didn,t get any new toys in this game, except the useless Icicle Spear.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

Unlike Omastar, Kabutops has a very dangerous new move, Shell Smash, though Omastar still is the better fossil.

I leave Mt. Moon and go to Route 4, where I find Move Tutors for Aqua Tail and Iron Head:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

Among the trainers of this route there one Bird Keeper that has a level 13 Pidgey and a level 56 Pidgeot, he said he trains Pidgey by leading with it and switching it out, but didn,t do it vs me.

Oh, and the Mt. Moon Square is still in this game, just in another place:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

There is nothing new at Mt. Moon Square, so I finish the chapter here.

Chapter 50. Inverted world.

Next place I enter to is Viridian Forest. Or maybe not. There is still Route 16 to be finished. So, I go to Route 2 and from there, after cutting some trees, go to Route 16.
Trainers here are stronger than in most of Kanto, but still way below my level. Lass Alice is a curious one, before the battle she told me that we now have to date, since our eyes met. After her Eevee, Umbreon and Espeon (all of which had nicknames) were defeated, this is her dialogue:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

The strongest trainer of the route is in a house in the middle of it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Inver leads with Exeggutor. Triple Bird has the disadvantage here, so I switch Eeveeto while the tree charges Solar Beam.
Exeggutor uses Solar Beam and takes Moonblast.
Exeggutor uses Sunny Day and gets the Special Attack dropped. It also heals with Figy Berry and recovers it with Harvest.
Exeggutor uses Solar Beam and takes another Moonblast, healing and recovering the berry.
The previous turn is repeated.
Inver heals manually Exeggutor, who gets a Moonblast drop.

I switch Gatr in, taking a resisted -2 Solar Beam. Sun ends.
Gatr kills Exeggutor with Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Inver sends Weavile. I switch Gaseosa in while it uses Sword Dance.
Gaseosa takes Ice Punch and burns Weavile.
Gaseosa takes another Ice Punch and heals with Pain Split.

I switch Anisoptero into the next Ice Punch.
Anisoptero uses Dragon Pulse and takes Night Slash. Weavile dies from the burn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Parasect comes in. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and I send Gatr, who takes Seed Bomb.
Gatr should wall Parasect right? Wrong, after the bug takes Crunch, it uses Cut, which is Steel in this game. It also crits and leaves Gatr very damaged.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

But Gatr has Rest and heals, taking another Cut.

Eeveeto takes the next Cut.
Eeveeto kills Parasect with Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Dangerous Porygon2 appears. At least the Download it has raises Attack.
Porygon2 paralyzes Eeveeto with Thunder Wave but gets a Special Attack drop.
Porygon leaves Eeveeto in red and takes another Moonblast.
This is a good moment to heal Eeveeto. Porygon heals too with Recover.

I switch Gaseosa into Tri Attack.
Gaseosa heals with Pain Split, but is paralyzed.
Porygon uses Tri Attack and is burned.

I send Eeveeto again into the next Tri Attack.
Porygon heals and is hit by Shadow Ball.
Porygon uses Tri Attack and gets a Special Defense drop.
Porygon heals, but gets another Special Defense drop.
Porygon heals and its hit by Shadow Ball again.
The previous turn is repeated.
The stall continues.
The stall continues, though Porygon ends in red.
Porygon survives another turn.
Eeveeto finally gets the third Special Defense drop.
Porygon tries to heal one last time and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Do you think Porygon2 is dangerous in Inverse Battles? Wait until you see SNORLAX. Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball and gets a Special Defense drop, but Snorlax has CURSE and LEFTOVERS.
Eeveeto gets another Special Defense drop, but Return does a lot:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

I send Gatr to get some Rocky Helmet damage.
Gatr uses Sleep Talk and gets Surf, but Snorlax does more damage with Return this die and both Pokemon collapse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

RIP Gatr.
He died like a hero, taking down the titan.

I send TripleBird to face the last Mon, a Jynx. Return somehow isn,t strong enough to even take half of Jynx's life. Jynx uses Nasty Plot.
TripleBird uses Fly... but doesn,t kill:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

RIP TripleBird.
JuanPalomo has to return to the team now.

Anisoptero ends the battle with Dragon Pulse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

For beating Inver I get a Rare Candy. Welp, that isn,t worth 2 deaths:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Inver's team was really scary and if my team didn,t have the level advantage, it could have been the end vs that Snorlax.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 51. Challenger from Alola.

After the 2 loses from the last battle, I need to remake the team. JuanPalomo (Pidgeot) is the first Mon that I bring. The other has to be a surfing one, but all 4 I have share typing with some member of the team. To solve this, I put Lava Bosa into the PC and Huesitos (Alolan Marowak). This allows me to bring Count Domo (Kabuto).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

After the training, I go to Viridian Forest, which has the RBY layout in this game. It still has GSC Mons and all of them are unavailable for me.
There are trainers and I beat them. One Bug Maniac uses a Beedrill, a Butterfree and the legendary bug Pikachu.

I arrive to Viridan City and explore it, finding the Dream Eater Tutor, a useless move.
At the school, a student gives me a Weakness Policy.

I visit the Trainer House and battle vs Carrie:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Carrie leads with Level 60 Meganium. I switch Count Domo out and send Gaseosa into Giga Drain.
Despite having 12 levels less, Meganium is faster than Gaseosa but still dies to a Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Typhlosion comes next. I send Eeveeto while it uses Sunny Day.
Typhlosion activaes Quick Claw and uses Flamethrower, taking Moonblast.
After taking another Flamethrower, Eeveeto uses Dig.

I switch Count Domo into the next Flamethrower. Sun ends.

Expecting Earth Power, I switch JuanPalomo in, but he takes Thunder Punch instead.
JuanPalomo kills Typhlosion with Return:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Feraligatr comes. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn. Anisoptero takes Rock Slide.
One Bug Buzz is enough for Gatr:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Steelix is next. Anisoptero heals with Roost, but ends up even more damaged due to another Rock Slide.

Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn. Gaseosa takes Rock Slide.
Gaseosa burns Steelix and avoids Iron Tail.

Huesitos avoids Iron Tail too when switching in.
Huesitos kills Steelix with Flare Blitz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Weavile is scary for Huesitos, so I send Count Domo while it uses... Curse?
Weavile easily takes Band STAB Rock Slide from a Kabutops 7 levels higher and uses Confuse Ray. It reveals Leftovers as the item.

Weavile uses Curse again while I switch Gaseosa in.
Gaseosa burns Weavile and is confused.

Weavile boosts again while Count Domo comes back.
Count Domo uses Rock Slide. Weavile uses Curse again.
Carrie heals Weavile with Max Potion, who now loses like 25% of its health from Rock Slide, this is insane.
Count Domo uses Rock Slide and is confused.

Gaseosa comes back again.
Gaseosa uses Sludge Bomb and is confused.
Another Sludge Bomb finally kills the tanky Weavile:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Last is Clefable. Gaseosa uses Sludge Bomb, but Clefable survives and uses Metronome, sleeping Gaseosa with Hypnosis.
Clefable heals with Healing Light.
Clefable uses Moonblast.
Clefable uses Moonblast again.
Gaseosa wakes up and uses Sludge Bomb, poisoning Clefable who uses Metronome and becomes Normal type due to Conversion.
This still doesn,t save it from dying to the next Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Due to my level advantage, this was an easy battle, though not a short one. I just get 1 Battle Point for winning and my team ended like this:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Route 22 to the West of Viridian City doesn,t have any Mons to catch. But there is a trainer:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

He came from Alola to challenge the Pokemon League, but since I am the Champion, he prefers to skip the Elite Four.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

From the very lead I see I am likely to lose more than one Mon here. The lead is Alolan Marowak and I have no switch-ins. However, I am lucky:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Marowak dies next turn, but forcing me to switch out, due to Cursed Body:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

I would have swicthed regardless though, since Magnezone comes. Anisoptero avoids Zap Cannon.

Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn, but Magnezone doesn,t use Flash Cannon, but Zap Cannon again. This leads to this:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Eeveeto comes in and avoids Zap Cannon.
Magnezones is faster than Eeveeto and uses Zap Cannon. Eeveeto digs underground, but can,t move down there.

Magnezone uses Thunder. Eeveeto digs again, but can,t move. Fuck.
Eeveeto takes another Thunder but once again, can,t move underground.

I send Anisoptero to take the next Thunder.
Anisoptero uses Roost and avoids Thunder.
Anisoptero uses Bug Buzz and is paralyzed by Thunder.
Anisoptero uses Roost and avoids Thunder.
Anisoptero uses Bug Buzz and takes Thunder.
Anisoptero can,t move. Magnezone uses Agility.
Anisoptero is still faster and uses Roost, taking Thunder.
Anisoptero uses Roost. Magnezone uses Gyro Ball and takes damage from Rocky Helmet.
Anisoptero can,t move. Magnezone uses Gyro Ball again.
Anisoptero uses Roost. Magnezone uses Gyro Ball.
Anisoptero finishes Zone:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Kukui sends Alolan Ninetales. Count Domo takes Ice Beam.

Kukui withdraws Ninetales and sends... SNORLAX, who takes Rock Slide.
Count Domo uses another Rock Slide. And Snorlax uses Close Combat:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

RIP Count Domo. Its hard to not lose Mons vs Snorlax.

JuanPalomo finishes Snorlax with Return.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Ninetales comes back and I have no switch-ins now. The fox uses Confuse Ray and takes almost no damage from Return.
I sack Huesitos:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

RIP Huesitos.
This battle is becoming a nightmare.

Gaseosa comes in. Ninetales uses Safeguard, which doesn,t avoid the big Sludge Bomb damage.
Ninetales tries to hax with Confuse Ray, but Gaseosa manages to attack and kill it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Next comes another scary Mon, Alolan Exeggutor. Gaseosa damages herself while the big tree uses Outrage.
Gaseosa uses Sludge Bomb and takes another powerful Outrage.
Luck runs out, Gaseosa damages herself and can,t survive a third Outrage:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

RIP Gaseosa.
I wish Kukui challenges Elite Four first.

JuanPalomo uses Fly, but Exeggutor manages to survive it and uses another Outrage.
JuanPalomo finishes Egg with Return:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Last is Alolan Raticate. JuanPalomo heals with Roost, avoiding Counter this way.

I switch Anisoptero in. The rat tries to use Counter again.
Raticate uses Double Edge and the battle ends with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

Ok, this was a disaster. I lost a big wall and 2 powerful breakers. I still have enough options at the PC, but idk for how much time:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 52. Scary Cave.

After another painful battle, I need 3 new Mons. Well, just 2, I don,t need to train Lava Bosa (Magcargo). But I do need to train Eeveetin (Eevee) and Pinchepez (Qwilfish).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

After the training, I continue to explore the remaining part of Kanto. I can,t catch the Mons at Route 1, so I just beat the trainers there.

I enter Pallet Town and visit Professor Oak. There is something in his table that immediately atracts my interest:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

...Eevee Doll?

He offers the Doll for an Everstone. Unfortunately I have those at the PC.

Oak gives me another Pokemon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Unfortunately I can,t use it. Since Oak doesn,t give anything else, I leave the lab and go to route 21, to the South. Here I can actually catch a Mon in the grass:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Mr. Mime got a small increase to HP, Speed and Special Defense in this game. Other than that, the only niche it has is being a Fairy type that doesn,t fear Poison Mons.

Instead of exploring the rest of Route 21, I fly to Fuchsia City and from there go to the new area, Uraga Channel, which connects Routes 18 and 21.
Due to currents, I will have to explore this area more than once, but in the first trip I already find a cave:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Indeed it is:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

No wild Mons appear here and the music that sounds is from Mt. Pyre. The red line seen its not lava, its red water, due to algaes that grow here (the scientist seen on screen tells me that).

I find a Sucker Punch tutor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

In the deepest part of the cave I end up confused in a water laberynth:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

However, I find a useful item there:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Pinchepez gets the Black Sludge so that Anisoptero can have Leftovers.

A Ruin Maniac tells me interesting information:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Before I find that deeper cave though, I need to face a trainer:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

...Pokemon but this cave is too scary...

To not be so coward, she wants to battle vs me:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Mira is very underleveled and leads with a level 58 Togekiss. It survives a Poison Jab from Pinchepez and uses Future Sight.
Another Poison Jab kills Togekiss:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Alakazam comes next. Eeveeto takes both Psychic and Future Sight.
Alakazam uses Confuse Ray and Eeveeto damages himself.
Eeveeto takes another Psychic and damages Alakazam with Moonblast.
Alakazam uses Future Sight and dies from Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Now I need to face a Magnezone. I send Lava Bosa while it uses Agility.
Magnezone uses an effective Hidden Power and dies from Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Lava Bosa takes the Future Sight and ends up too weak to face Magmortar. So, I switch JuanPalomo into Focus Blast, which hits extremely hard due to STAB and Mega Launcher.
JuanPalomo still has the level advantage and kills Magmortar with Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Porygon-Z is next. JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes Thunderbolt.
JuanPalomo uses Return and survives in red next Thunderbolt.
Another Return finishes Porygon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Last is Vileplume. JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes Moonblast.
JuanPalomo heals again and is paralyzed by Stun Spore.
Vileplume uses Moonblast. JuanPalomo can,t move.
Vileplume uses Moonblast. JuanPalomo heals with Roost.
JuanPalomo takes another Moonblast and surprisingly doesn,t kill Vileplume with one Fly.
But after taking another, the battle ends:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

I get Power Lens from beating Mira. This battle could have been much harder if I wasn,t so overleveled, but I didn,t know I was supposed to come into this cave earlier. Still, my team ended up quite damaged:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

I still didn,t finish exploring Scary Cave and actually find the deeper cave:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Inside there is darkness:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

I teach Eeveetin Flash instead of Sword Dance. When I illuminate the room, I see this:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

This must be SS Anne, but unfortunately I can,t get inside. Some NPCs have talked about how one day SS Anne just sunk, so this must be the place.

There is nothing more to do in Scary Cave, so I leave it and finish this chapter.

Chapter 53. Burn heal=forgotten at home.

I go to Cinnabar Island, where I find Blue, as in vanilla games. Here, he blocks a path to the volcano until I beat Blaine.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

So, I need to prepare for Blaine. However, Eeveeto, Lava Bosa y Anisoptero are all at level 72, while Blaine caps at 69 (+2=71). So, I need to train 3 Mons. Those are Sardinilla (Rapidash), Pennywise (Mr. Mime) and Shuckie (Shuckle), which is the hardest one to train. At least, I get a funny shiny I won,t use while doing so:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

After the training, I surf to Route 20 and beat all the trainers there.

I arrive at Seafoam Islands:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Stairs that go up lead to Blaine's Gym. The other ones go to the main Seafoam Island area. I prefer to challenge Blaine first. His Gym has trainers in this game:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

After I defeat the trainers, battle vs Blaine begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Blaine leads with Magcargo. Pennywise uses Calm Mind and is burned by Will-o-wisp.
Pennywise uses Calm Mind again and Magcargo boosts... with Curse?
Pennywise uses Psychic... which does almost no damage but drops the Special Defense of Magcargo, who misses Rock Slide.

I switch Pinchepez in, taking Rock Slide.
Pinchepez kills Magcargo with Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Magmar comes in. I switch Shuckie while it uses Sunny Day.
Magmar uses Flamethrower and is poisoned by Toxic.
Shuckie takes another Flamethrower and goes to sleep.
Shuckie takes Flamethrower.
Shuckie takes Flamethrower. Sun fades away.
Shuckie takes another Flamethrower, wakes up and uses Rest again.
Magmar uses one last Flamethrower and dies from Poison:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Blaine sends Arcanine. I switch Pinchepez in to Intimidate him.

I switch Shuckie back into Take Down.
Arcanine uses Flare Blitz.
Arcanine uses another Flare Blitz. Shuckie wakes up and goes to sleep again.
Arcanine uses Flare Blitz.
Arcanine uses another Flare Blitz.

I fear crit and switch Pinchepez in again.
Pinchepez takes Take Down and uses Waterfall, which leaves Arcanine in red.

Shuckie takes the next Take Down.

Pinchepez takes Flare Blitz.

Shuckie takes Take Down.

Sardinilla comes in, its immune to Flare Blitz due to Flash Fire.
Arcanine is faster than Sardinilla and uses Take Down before dying to Strength:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Flareon is next. It uses Quick Attack and takes Strength.
Next Quick Attack leaves Sardinilla in red. Flareon lives Strength.

Pinchepez takes Quick Attack.
Pinchepez kills Qwilfish with Waterfall:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Rapidash comes. I make the risky move of sending Eeveetin into it... and it proves to be way too risky, since Rapidash uses Fire Blast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

RIP Eeveetin. Didn,t last as long as I would have liked, though using it in a Fire Gym is certainly asking for troubles.

I send Shuckie. Rapidash traps it with a crit Fire Spin, after which Shuckie wakes up and uses Rest.
Rapidash uses Play Rough.
Rapidash uses Play Rough again.
Third one proves too much:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

RIP Shuckie. I am in big trouble and probably need to sack one more Mon or 2.

Pinchepez intimidates Rapidash.

Sardinilla takes Fire Blast.

Pennywise takes Play Rough.

Pinchepez takes another Play Rough.

Sardinilla takes Fire Blast.

Pinchepez takes Play Rough.

Sardinilla takes Fire Blast.

Pinchepez takes Play Rough. He at last recovers 1 HP after the Play Rough damage + Black Sludge.

Sardinilla takes Fire Spin.

Pinchepez takes Play Rough.

Sardinilla takes Fire Spin.

Pinchepez takes Play Rough.

I finally release Juan Palomo into Fire Spin.
Rapidash uses Fire Blast, but misses it. JuanPalomo heals with Roost.

Rapidash uses Fire Spin. Juan Palomo escapes with U-Turn. Pinchepez comes in.
Pinchepez is trapped by Fire Spin but uses Pain Split to heal.
Rapidash uses a weak Play Rough and is obliterated by crit Poison Jab:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Last is Ninetales, fortunately without Drought. It uses Confuse Ray and gets hit by Waterfall.
Ninetales burns Pinchepez, surviving Waterfall this way.
Ninetales uses Flamethrower and dies from Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Well, this was a very bad battle for me. My Water Mon being not too strong and not too resistant helped Blaine a lot, allowing him to kill 2 good Mons and severely damaging the rest:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Before finishing the chapter, I catch the new member of my team is Seafoam Islands:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

This is one of my favorite Mons, so I caught it with a Cherish Ball, one of the 2 I had. Unfortunately, it doesn,t get any improvements in this game and doesn,t even learn Iron Head by level, though there is a tutor for that.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 54. Mystic bird.

As said, Echidna comes to the team. So do Anisoptero (Yanmega) and Lava Bosa (Magcargo), while Sardinilla goes to the PC.

Echidna is the only Mon I have to train and the training goes quickly, but with enough time for an unusable Shiny to catch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

After the training I go to explore Seafoam Islands. I pick some items there, solve some ice puzzles and beat some trainers. The main goal, however, is this bird:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Articuno has 2 new toys to play with: Snow Warning as ability (though Pressure is better) and Aeroblast as a move (learned at level 99). Other than that, GSC mechanics combined with Pressure make this bird a very good Mon.

I explore the rest of the routes between Seafoam Islands and Fuchsia City, beating the trainers there. In a house on the beach, a guy wants to see a Surfing Pikachu:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Unfortunately, Nuzlocke rules forbid me to search it.

I also find in the middle of the sea the Scald TM. Probably won,t ever use it despite the hax potential due to needing Surf.

After I clean the sea routes, I go to Shamouti Island and sell my Big Pearls and other valuable items that I found in Seafoam Islands. After doing that, I decide to visit the Ice Island and find a new character there, unfortunately without a dialogue, but giving me 2 options:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Blanche leads with Vaporeon. Echidna has a Band, but I don,t want her to take damage yet, so I send Pinchepez into a very strong Hydro Pump.
Pinchepez heals all the damage with Pain Split and takes another Hydro Pump.
Pinchepez uses Pain Split again and takes another Hydro.

JuanPalomo takes the next Hydro Pump.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes another Hydro Pump.
JuanPalomo heals again and is burned by Scald.

JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and Pennywise is burned too. This battle is already problematic.
Pennywise uses Thunderbolt but this is still not enough to kill Vaporeon, who uses another Scald.
Pennywise finishes Vaporeon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Lapras is next and I have no switch-in. Ok, bye Pennywise. She uses Thunderbolt and receives a Megahorn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

RIP Pennywise. My level advantage isn,t working anymore.

Despite having 5 less levels, Lapras moves faster than Echidna and damages her hard with Hydro Pump, surviving Iron Head easily.

Anisoptero takes the next Hydro Pump.

Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn. Echidna comes back and takes... Outrage?
Lapras uses Outrage again and survives another, crit, Iron Head.
Lapras uses last Outrage and finally dies to Iron Head. Mi situation is desperate however:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Of course, the next is Blastoise. Pinchepez switches into Close Combat, which does almost no damage.
Pinchepez uses Pain Split, Blastoise sets Rain.
Pinchepez takes advantage of the rain and uses Waterfall, however Hydro Pump does a lot.
Pinchepez uses another Waterfall, Blastoise hits Hydro Pump:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

RIP Pinchepez.
Tragic battle already and probably more deaths are coming. Blanche has already hit 9 Hydro Pumps and burned 2 Scalds out of 2.

Anisoptero finishes Blastoise with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Next danger is Jynx. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn, Lava Bosa takes Blizzard, which of course hits.
Jynx uses Blizzard again. Lava Bosa heals with Recover.
Anticipating my Shell Smash, Jynx uses Perish Song. White Herb heals Lava Bosa's stats drops.
Jynx uses Nasty Plot and dies from Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Starmie comes. Anisoptero gets into Confuse Ray.
Anisoptero kills Starmie with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Last is Articuno. Lava Bosa comes into Ice Beam.
Articuno sets Hail and is hit by Flamethrower.
Lava Bosa takes another Ice Beam and finishes the battle with Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Blanche just teleports away after the battle. Her dialogue is unfinished but her team certainly wasn,t. She hit every single move and had huge luck with Scald burns. If I wasn,t overleveled, I would have lost more than 2 Mons:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Finishing the chapter here. There are not many trainers left in the game, but my PC is becoming empty too. The ending will be hard.

Chapter 55. Cinnabar grave.

Despite not wanting to use it, I need a Surf user and having only 2 of them now, I pick the worst, Raya (Mantine). Eeveeto (Sylveon) also comes back into the team, I will need him for the next battle. JuanPalomo leaves the team (I will have to travel by foot instead of Flying now) and I pick Matamoscas (Vileplume) as the last Mon.
During the training, as its becoming increasingly common, I catch a Shiny I can,t use in battles:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

After the training, I go to Rock Tunnel. More concretely to the secret part of Rock Tunnel that leads to this bird:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

I easily defeat Zapdos with Matamoscas, despite it having Drizzle in this game (forgot to take screenshot).

After beating Zapdos, I go to the Lighting Island, but there is no trainer there. Apparantly catching Zapdos is a requirement, beating it doesn,t work.

So, I go back to Kanto and sail to Cinnabar Island. Blue accepts battling and leaves the island to go back to the Gym. I decide to explore the island and find a useful item:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Finally I can evolve the Magby I have at the PC! I also enter a new area:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Here I catch a new Mon:

Alolan Dugtrio is one of the unlucky Mons that didn,t get anything new in this game. At least the typing is really solid.

I explore the volcano and beat the few trainers that I find there. One is from Sinnoh:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Buck leads with Umbreon. It uses Double Edge and actually damages Matamoscas a lot, while easily tanking Sludge Bomb.

Echidna takes the next Double Edge.
Umbreon traps Echidna with Mean Look and takes Strength.
Umbreon heals with Healing Light, taking another Strength.
Umbreon heals again, taking Strength.
Umbreon crits with Sucker Punch, surviving Strength in red.
Buck heals manually Umbreon, who takes another Strength.
Umbreon uses Sucker Punch and takes Strength.
Umbreon heals, taking Strength.
Umbreon heals, taking Strength.
Umbreon heals, taking Strength.
Umbreon uses Sucker Punch, taking Strength.
Umbreon uses Sucker Punch and finally dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Poliwrath is next. I send Raya to take Close Combat.
Raya flinches Poliwrath with Air Slash.

Buck withdraws Poliwrath and sends Golem, who takes Air Slash.
Golem obviously dies from Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Forretress comes. Raya crits with Air Slash, but Forretress uses Zap Cannon...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Closer than I would have liked.

I send Lava Bosa, who avoids next Zap Cannon.
Despite having 9 less levels, Forretress is faster than Lava Bosa and flinches her with Iron Head.
Forretress uses Iron Head again. Lava Bosa heals with Recover.
Forretress uses Iron Head. Lava Bosa boosts with Shell Smash, consuming White Herb.
Lava Bosa incinerates Forretress with Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Poliwrath comes back. I don,t trust Lava Bosa's speed even at +2, so I switch Matamoscas, who again takes a lot from Close Combat.

Anisoptero takes the next Close Combat.
Anisoptero kills Poliwrath with U-Turn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

I send Matamoscas so that he recovers a little HP with Black Sludge, but he can,t battle vs the next opponent, which is a Skarmory. Lava Bosa takes Drill Peck.
Skarmory uses Screech, Lava Bosa heals with Recover.
Skarmory uses Night Slash and is roasted:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Last is Steelix. Anisoptero takes Earthquake.
I manually heal Raya... and a tragedy happens:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

RIP Anisoptero.
Steelix critted. This is a very serious loss, Anisoptero helped me in many tough battles and with Eeveeto, was one of the best and most durable Mons of the team.
Raya uses Surf and easily takes Stone Edge, which only does half without crit.
Another Surf finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Buck gives me a Power Belt and leaves. The battle vs him would have been easy (despite having an almost GSC OU team) if it wasn,t for that last crit:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Finishing the chapter here, since now I have to train a new Mon.

Chapter 56. The last gym.

The new Mon I train is Puncher (Ledian). After I finish the training, I go back to Cinnabar Volcano, since I didn,t finish exploring it yesterday. In the deepest part of it I see the bird:

1.png

However, it was OU in Gen 3, so I can,t catch it. I pick several items and leave the place.

Cinnabar Island has another place to visit:

2.png

The Pokemon Mansion. I can catch a Pokemon here:

3.png

I already had a Growlithe, but it never evolved. Despite the high Stats, this Mon is kinda forced to be Restalk, since it has no other means of recovery and can,t attack without suiciding.

I explore the completely destroyed mansion, picking the items and defeating the few trainers. At the end of the mansion I find this item:

4.png

With the Map, I go to Vermillion City, where I can use it:

6.png

Thats how I reach the Faraway Island and start exploring it. In the center of the island I see Mew, but of course, I can,t catch it:

7.png

With nothing else to do, I go to Viridian Gym, though before that I put JuanPalomo (Pidgeot) in the team instead of Lava Bosa, who is at level 73.

After beating the trainers, battle vs Blue begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

Blue leads with Exeggutor, not a good match-up for Matamoscas, so I switch Echidna into Psychic.
Echidna takes another Psychic, but Exeggutor survives Band Leech Life.

I send Raya into next Psychic.
Raya kills Exeggutor with Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Blue sends Machamp. I switch Matamoscas into Thunder Punch.
Machamp uses Stone Edge and gets paralyzed by Stun Spore.
Matamoscas uses Moonblast, Machamp can,t move.
Matamoscas uses Moonblast. Machamp lands Stone Edge:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

RIP Matamoscas.
This was a needed sack, I had no Machamp check.

JuanPalomo finishes Machamp with Return:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Kabutops is next. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and I send Puncher... into Stone Edge:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

RIP Puncher.
He wasn,t Bug Flying, but still too frail to survive.

I send Echidna. Kabutops uses Surf and leaves her in red, surviving Band EQ.

JuanPalomo takes the next Surf.

JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn. Echidna has to be sacked:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

RIP Echidna.
This battle is already really hard and painful.

JuanPalomo finishes Kabutops:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Blue sends his ace Blastoise, who walls all my team. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and I send Raya into Ice Beam.
Blastoise uses Body Slam and paralyzes Raya, who heals with Roost.
Blastoise uses Body Slam and takes Surf.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya heals.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya uses Surf.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya heals.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya heals.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya finally heals.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya heals.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya heals.
Raya uses Body Slam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Body Slam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya can,t move. At least, Body Slam PPs are out.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya still can,t move.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya heals.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam and crits. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya heals. Only one Roost PP remains.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya uses Surf.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya can,t move.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya uses Surf.
Blastoise uses Ice Beam. Raya spends last Roost PP.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Surf.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Surf.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Surf.
Blue heals Blastoise, who takes Surf. This is actually a blessing for me, since I will be able to heal Raya later.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Surf.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Flash Cannon and takes Air Slash.
I manually heal Raya, who takes Flash Cannon.
Blastoise uses Surf, which Raya is immune to. Raya uses Surf too.
Blue is stupid and heals Blastoise again. I predict a switch out and use Toxic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Toxic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Toxic. This is pathetic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Toxic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Toxic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Toxic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Toxic.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash, critting.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash.
Blastoise uses Surf, Raya uses Air Slash.

I switch Eeveeto into the last Surf PP.

I switch JuanPalomo into Struggle, which crits.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost. Blastoise proves to be a formidable foe until the end and crits again, dying after that:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Blue sends Umbreon. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn, I send Eeveeto. Umbreon reveals having Leftovers.
Umbreon uses Feint Attack, which crits. Eeveeto damages it with Moonblast.
Umbreon uses Feint Attack and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Last Blue's Mon is Arcanine. I heal Eeveeto, who takes Flame Charge.

Raya takes the next Flame Charge.
Arcanine uses Extreme Speed and takes Surf.
After another Extreme Speed, the battle ends with a Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Blue gives me the badge and the Stone Edge TM. He also tells me that now I can challenge the Pokemon League again with a much harder format.
The battle vs Blue was extremely hard and came down to PP Stall and Blue being dumb (if he didn,t heal Blastoise twice, he would have probably won).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Raya PPs after the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Finishing the chapter here. I won,t be challenging the League immediately, since there are still some things to do in Kanto.

Chapter 57. Shell Smashing.

I pick Lava Bosa from the PC. The other 2 Mons I pick are Boletus (Paras) and Sagua (Pichu). I do research on Internet and find uout that currently only one unit of Odd Souvenir is available through the game. This means that Sagua will have to be Pikachu and I will never have an Alolan Exeggutor.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

What? Only Boletus evolution pic? Yes, because turns out Spiky Eared Pichu can,t evolve at all. I still train Sagua, at least it can work as a sack slot.

After the training, I go to Cerulean City and enter Cerulean Cave, now that I have the 8 Kanto badges, I am allowed to do that. One of the last Pokemon that I can catch is found in this cave:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

I already had a Slowpoke, but it never evolved. This is probably the best out of my 3 Water Mons.

Back to Cerulean Cave, I challenge Mewtwo:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Mewtwo is at level 80. It uses Calm Mind while Raya uses Toxic on it.
Mewtwo uses Psychic and leaves Raya in red, but Raya heals with Roost.

Eeveeto comes in while Mewtwo gets to +2.
Mewtwo uses Recover and Calm Mind while Eeveeto damages it with Dig.

I send Sagua while Mewtwo heals again.
Mewtwo uses Psychic but Sagua has Focus Sash and survives it. Thunderbolt does almost no damage but Mewtwo dies to the poison:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

With this mission done, I go to Johto, to Azalea Town. By now, Kurt has finished checking the GS Ball I gave him.
This allows me to visit Celebi and kill him too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Easy, since it was at level 30. It took neutral damage and this is how I discover its Grass Fairy in this game. It also gained Magic Guard as a new ability.

Since I can do it, I go to Faraway Island and kill the Mew there too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

I then fly to Indigo Plateau. Not to challenge the League, but to see a rival for last time:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

She managed to get all the badges and now wants to challenge me, Wally music from ORAS starts to play even before the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Boletus certainly doesn,t want to face Pidgeot. Lava Bosa is fine with that however, avoiding Hurricane.
Pidgeot hits Hurricane, Lava Bosa gets the Shell Smash done. White Herb is consumed.
Pidgeot hits another Hurricane. Lava Bosa boosts to +4.
Lava Bosa gets to +6, getting hit by another Hurricane.
Ok, time to kill all the team:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

After losing 4 Mons, Lyra sends Toto. I am actually not so sure +6 Lava Bosa can kill it with 1 Earth Power. I send Boletus back into Outrage, which does a lot.

Eeveeto comes into Toto.
Toto uses Screech, Eeveeto damages it with Moonblast. Toto eats Sitrus Berry.
I send JuanPalomo into Thrash.
JuanPalomo uses Return and gets crit:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Phew, that was close.
Lyra heals Toto and JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn. I send Eeveeto.
Toto uses Screech and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Lyra is not finishes yet, she has an Arcanine. I send Raya into Take Down.
Scouting for Wild Charge, I send Sagua into the next Take Down:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

I send Lava Bosa into Take Down.
I heal Lava Bosa, who gets hit by Take Down.
Arcanine uses Take Down and gets crit by Earth Power, still alive.
Arcanine uses Take Down and gets crit again:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Lyra tried her best, but only 2 of her Mons got to actually battle and they still had suboptimal sets:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

The show doesn,t end here though. When I heal and try again entering the Elite Four again...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Shiyo leads with Weavile. I switch Boletus out and send Lava Bosa into Ice Punch and burns Weavile with Flame Body.
Weavile uses Crunch, Lava Bosa boosts with Shell Smash, consuming White Herb.
Weavile uses Crunch, Lava Bosa heals with Recover.
Weavile uses Crunch, Lava Bosa gets to +4.
Weavile uses Sword Dance, Lava Bosa gets to +6.
Ok, massacre begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

This is what having a bad lead and a bad turn 1 can do, Shiyo got totally obliterated despite having a competent team.

Finishing the chapter here. In the next one, I will start preparing for the Pokemon League rematch.

Chapter 58. Hyper training.

I need to prepare a functional team for the Elite Four rematch. Having a Pichu can work for one trainer, but not for 5 in a row. So, Sagua goes to the PC.
Now, its time to Wonder Trade all the Mons I can,t use. I will only trade once each of them.

First I trade a Level 56 Shiny Graveler caught in Mt. Moon. I didn,t expect to get any new legal Mon I could use, but I actually get one:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Galarian Rapidash gained Extreme Speed in this game... which doesn,t help it much. Still, SD + Healing Light is viable I guess.

Shiny Level 2 Zubat caught in Dark Cave goes next. I receive a Level 2 Horsea, which I can,t use. At least it has Sitrus Berry held.
Level 10 Bulbasaur given by Profesor Oak grants me access to another usable Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Typhlosion is Fire-Ground in this game and gains a new ability, Flame Body. It of course learns Earth Power. Certainly an useful Mon.

Level 54 Shiny Grime caught at Route 16 gets traded for a Smeargle. Unfortunately, while Smeargle was BL in GSC and ADV, it became OU in DPP, therefore I can,t use it. So, I only get a Starf Berry from it.
Level 10 Charmander give by Yellow gets traded for Magnemite, which I can,t use.
Probably the most useful trade is the one I get for the level 10 Magikarp given to me at Celadon University. This is the Pokemon I get:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

I can have now either a Flareon or a Glaceon.

Level 20 Shiny Tentacool caught at Route 40 gets traded for a Chansey, which I can,t use. Chansey comes with a Eviolite, item of which I have many units already.
Finally, level 20 Aerodactyl revived at Pewter City, gets traded for a Tauros, which I still can,t use.

I expected 0 usable Mons and I got, great success. Still none of those looks useful enough vs the Elite Four. I put both JuanPalomo and Raya into the PC. Then I pick Aokiji (Articuno) for Lance and Soprano (Jigglypuff) for paralisis support. Finally, Shellhead (Slowking) gets to assist me vs Will as a Psychic resist.

I train the new Mons:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

After training with wild Mons, I defeat all the trainers of SS Aqua, getting lots of money. My team ends at level 76.

I then sell all the useless items, ending with 725K. Time to spend it all and go broke. First the medicine: 38 Full Restores and 1 Hyper Potion is more than enough for the Pokemon League.
Then, the vitamins. I get 11 of HP Up and Carbos and 10 of each of the rest.
Boletus is very lucky, since he is the only physical Mons, eating all the 10 Proteins.
Everyone except Eeveeto (who already has maxed Defense) gets 2 Irons.
Boletus gets 2 Carbos, each of Eeveeto, Lava Bosa and Aokiji consume 3.
Boletus doesn,t get Calcium at all, the rest of the team eats 2 each.
Eeveeto and Shellhead eat 1 Zinc each, everyone else gets 2.
Soprano has an enormous HP already. Therefore, she only eats 1 HP Up, everyone else eats 2.

I also have a PP Max and 6 PP Ups. The healing moves of Boletus, Aokiji and Lava Bosa get maxed out.

There are things that can,t be bought with money and have to be taken by force: friendship, peace, love or Ability Patch . I need to win 7 battles at Battle Tower to get this item, so I go with Shellhead, Lava Bosa and Eeveeto there:
Battle 1: Shellhead sweeps vs Dunsparce, Shuckle and Poliwrath.
Battle 2 : Eeveeto defeats a Magneton and then drops the Special Attack of a Specs Octillery, allowing Lava Bosa to use Shell Smash and defeat the octopus and Electrode.
Battle 3: Eeveeto beats a Smeargle, then Lava Bosa burns Furret, boosts and defeats it and Politoed.
Battle 4: Strength Leafeon manages to kill Lava Bosa, Eeveeto ends up damaged but wins the Eevee duel. Shellhead then sweeps vs Slowbro and Shuckle.
Battle 5: Golem uses Thunder Punch on Shellhead then explodes on Lava Bosa. Very Scary Super Luck Togekiss breaks both Eeveeto and Lava Bosa. However, Eeveeto did drop its Special Attack many times, so when Togekiss doesn,t crit enough times with Aura Sphere vs Lava Bosa, it sweeps it an Octillery.
Battle 6: Mixed Electivire damages Eeveeto too much, so then a Sunflora just sweeps me. Fuck.

Ok, try 2, this time with Soprano, Aokiji and Lava Bosa.
Battle 1: Lava Bosa stops Hone Claws Persian, then Aokiji sweeps Qwilfish and Ampharos.
Battle 2: Soprano dies vs Arbok, but not before paralyzing it. Aokiji then sweeps Arbok, Skarmory and Butterfree.
Battle 3: Soprano dies vs Perish Trap Azumarill but paralyzes both it and Galarian Slowbro. Lava Bosa kills the Slowbro, then dies to Whirlpool from Azu. Aokiji finishes Azumarill and kills Hypno too.
Battle 4: I commit a big mistake here. Soprano paralyzes Specs Glaceon, but instead of boosting with Lava Bosa, I use Flamethrower. The opponent switches Alolan Golem in and kills Lava Bosa with EQ. It ends up being an AV Alolan Golen with Galvanize Rapid Spin and Explosion, so Aokiji dies vs it and then Soprano vs Glaceon.

Take 3 with the same team.
Battle 1: Soprano paralyzes Hypno. Aokiji sweeps it, Golem and Dewgong. I discover in this battle that Whirlpool does 0 damage in this game to Substitute.
Battle 2: Very dangerous AV Rhyperior is the lead. Soprano paralyzes it, but dies. Lava Bosa dies too. Aokiji manages to PP Stall Rhyperior and win vs Sandslash and Raticate as well.
Battle 3: Soprano paralyzes Ledian, then dies vs Venomoth. Aokiji sweeps vs Venomoth, Ledian and Msidreavus.
Battle 4: Soprano 1vs1s Nasty Plot Houndoom. Then the demon comes: Sandstorm Sand Power Alolan Dugtrio with STABs and Stone Edge. I switch my Mons around until it burns vs Lava Bosa Flame Body, killing it however. Soprano resists a crit Iron Head in Sandstorm from the burned Dugtrio and kills it, dying then vs Venusaur, who gets destroyed by Aokiji.
Battle 5: Alolan Marowak 2HKOs Soprano with Flare Blitz, but it doesn,t have Rock Head, so huge Soprano's HP kills it with recoil. Scarf Heracross misses Stone Edge vs Aokiji and dies to Air Slash. Electrode gets defeated by Lava Bosa.
Battle 6: Berserk Gene murders Soprano, then gets killed by Lava Bosa. Tyranitar finishes Lava Bosa, but Aokiji manages to PP Stall the 4 moves it has, killing it and Scyther.
Battle 7: Extremely dumb battle. Soprano paralyzes a Porygon2 before dying to it. The paralysis almosts costs me the game, since Porygon2 instead of switching out vs Aokiji when it runs out of PPs of offensive moves, stays and uses Thunder Wave and Recover. I am forced to send Lava Bosa, who is paralyzed. Opponent switches out Porygon and sends Leftovers 3 Attacks Lapras. I send Aokiji back. He can,t beat Lapras and runs out of all PPs, but so does Lapras of its offensive Moves. Only after Lapras runs out of Surf, Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, it reveals Shell Smash. By then, Aokiji is already struggling. I send Lava Bosa back and kill Lapras, Porygon and the last Mon, who fortunately is a random Smeargle with Sucker Punch.

Abilty Pacth= Obtained. I use it on Shellhead to get Regenerator. After that, I want to see how long can the team endure at Battle Tower.

Battle 8: Hone Claws Persian manages to defeat Lava Bosa and heavily damage Soprano. Then Machamp kills Soprano, but Aokiji stalls it and Electrode out and epicly wins.
Battle 9: Soprano beats Xatu, then paralyzes a Guts Machamp before dying. Aokiji finishes Machamp and freezes a Quagsire.
Battle 10: Opposing trainer withdraws Misdreavus and sends a scary Rhyperior. However, this one wasn,t an AV Rhyperior and Soprano managed to get a Sdef Drop, so Lava Bosa killes it. Alolan Golem killes both Lava Bosa and Soprano, but Aokiji managed to outstall it and kill it. He also outstalled WoW + Hex Misdreavus despite the ghost being faster.
Battle 11: Lava Bosa swept vs Band Magmortar locked in Flare Blitz and a Lanturn. Machamp killed both Lava Bosa and Soprano, but ended up to weak to survive an Ice Beam from Aokiji.
Battle 12: Techinician LO Cut + Bite Weavile made an appearance and damaged both Soprano and Lava Bosa a lot. Lava Bosa killed the Weavile, Aokiji killed Poliwrath, then Lava Bosa destroyed an Entei.
Battle 13: An almost lost battle. Curse Rhydon won vs both Soprano and Aokiji when it shouldn,t have (it had the easy stallable Stone Edge as Rock move). However, Lava Bosa outsped Rhydon, then boosted vs Skarmory and killed it and Rapidash.
Battle 14: Run ended here. Lead was a Curse + Return + EQ Snorlax. It was impossible to break or Stall out, I had no chances at all except for trying to freeze it, but it didn,t work.

I had 292 BP from all my Battle Tower runs. The only item worth to spend them on is the 64 BP PP Max. So, I buy 4 of them: 3 go to max Ice Beam, Air Slash and Substitute of Aokiji, last one to Recover of Shellhead.

With everything done, its time to present the team that will challenge the Elite Four rematch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Poor Soprano got robbed hard in this game: Disarming Voice is her only Fairy Move learnt by level-up. She does get Dazzling Gleam by TM, but I don,t have said TM yet and have no idea where it is. As a result, Soprano is the lucky Leftovers user of this team. Soprano is tanky and while she won,t be getting many kills, she will paralyze foes and allow the rest of the team to execute their strategies easier.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Shellhead on the other hand has all the tools needed to work. High bulk, Regenerator, recovery move and boosting move. The only thing needed from the opponent for Shellhead to shine is a (preferably paralyzed by Soprano) set-up fodder. You might have noticed Shadow Ball instead of Psychic in the current Moveset. This is due to already having Will in mind, I will put Psychic back after beating him.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

The legendary bird is the fastest Mon in my team (despite which, its still quite slow, so might put the Salac Berry in some battles). Pressure + Sub Roost allow Aokiji to defeat foes he otherwise wouldn,t. Offensive power is not too high, but the bulk is due to GSC mechanics, even when his EVs are very far from maxed. Aokiji should do well in most battles, especially vs Lance's dragons.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Boletus barely has been one more chapter in the team than the previous 3 Mons and hasn,t done anything except killing Celebi and Mew so far. However, he gained many EVs in this chapter and its the only physical Attacker (well, outside of Eeveeto's Dig) in the team. Spore will buy me lots of free turns and Rocky Helmet will do some chip damage if I manage to handle the 7 weaknesses.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Now, Lava Bosa has already swept many important trainers and survived many battles. She is a very flexible Mon between Flame Body, Recover and Shell Smash. Lava Bosa just needs one set-up fodder to completely murder the opposing team, though its weaker than it used to be, I had to put Ancient Power instead of the more reliable Earth Power thinking about Flying trainer Lance.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Finally, Eeveeto. He has been in the team for such a long time, that his EVs by now are almost maxed out. Eeveeto doesn,t sweep many battles, but refuses to die with Assault Vest + Serene Grace Moonblast. Shadow Ball dropping Special Defense is another cool tech Eeveeto's ability provides. If there is someone that I won,t let die until the very end, its the signature Mon of the team.

Finishing the chapter here. In the next one, Will awaits.

Chapter 59. Anticipation of problems.

With everything prepared beforehand, I challenge Will, whose dialogue changes a little:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

...techniques.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Will leads with Xatu again. Despite having 7 less levels than Aokiji, its faster and uses Confuse Ray. Aokiji still puts the Sub.
Xatu uses Air Slash. It doesn,t break the Sub, but Aokiji damages himself.
Xatu uses Future Sight. Aokiji is not confused anymore but tries to use Sub.
Xatu breaks Sub with Psychic. Aokiji puts another one.
Xatu uses Air Slash, Aokiji heals with Roost. Sub breaks with Future Sight.
Xatu uses Confuse Ray, Aokiji damages himself.
Xatu uses Future Sight and is left in red with Ice Beam.
Xatu uses Confuse Ray and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Scary Jynx comes, I have no idea how to beat it. Jynx uses Nasty Plot. I missclick and use Sub, which is broken by Xatu's Future Sight.

Earlier than I would have liked, I send Eeveeto, who takes Psychic.
Eeveeto takes another Psychic and uses Moonblast.

Shellhead takes the next Psychic.
Jynx uses Draining Kiss, Shellhead boosts with Calm Mind.
Jynx uses Psychic. Shellhead heals with Recover.
Jynx uses Psychic and drops Shellhead's Special Defense, taking Shadow Ball in return.
Jynx uses Psychic and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Will sends Exeggutor. I send Aokiji to take Giga Drain.
Aokiji uses Substitute, consuming Petaya Berry. Exeggutor uses Reflect.
Aokiji kills Exeggutor with Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Scary Alakazam comes. It breaks the Sub with Psychic, Aokiji heals with Roost.

I send Shellhead to take next Psychic, which is crit.

Soprano comes into Shadow Ball.
Soprano takes Psychic and paralyzes Alakazam with Thunder Wave. However, Syncronoize paralyzes Soprano too and Alakazam heals with Lum Berry. Fuck.
Alakazam uses Psychic. Soprano can,t move.

Shellhead takes next Psychic.

Boletus takes Shadow Ball.
Boletus survives Psychic in red and uses Spore.
Boletus kills Alakazam with Leech Life:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Slowbro comes. I send Shellhead into Thunder Wave, but he has Lum Berry.
Slowbro has 7 less levels than Shellhead but its still faster and uses Psychic. Shellhead uses Calm Mind.
Slowbro uses Psychic, Shellhead uses Calm Mind.
...
Eventually Shellhead gets to +6. Only then Slowbro uses Thunder Wave again, but its too late already, battle is won:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

The ace Xatu however doesn,t give up. It uses Quick Attack while Shellhead can,t attack.
Confuse Ray makes Shellhead damage himself the next turn.
Shellhead takes another Quick Attack and still can,t move.
Shellhead takes another Quick Attack and still can,t move.
Finally, in the 5th turn of ace Xatu's appearance, Shellhead finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

...this way.

Even with the massive level advantage (which will be smaller in the next battles), Will still proves to be a threat. Both Alakazam and Jynx heavily damaged my team:
polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Finishing the chapter here with the kill count:

Shellhead:
3
Aokiji: 2
Boletus: 1
Eeveeto: 0
Soprano: 0
Lava Bosa: 0

Chapter 60. Freezing the polution.

I heal my team. Shellhead receives another Lum Berry and learns Psychic instead of Shadow Ball.
Aokiji gets a Pecha Berry (since I have itemclause for this challenge).
Like Shellhead, Soprano learns Psychic instead of Shadow Ball.
Boletus learns Dig instead of Leech Life, though I don,t think he will have to face Koga.

With everything done, I challenge Koga:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Koga doesn,t have Ariados anymore, he leads with Tentacruel. Funnily enough, I don,t have counter for that thing, at least nothing that apreciates Sludge Bomb poisoning. He gets the poison on Aokiji, but Pecha Berry heals the poison. Aokiji puts a Sub.
Tentacruel breaks the Sub, Aokiji heals with Roost.
Tentacruel uses Sludge Bomb again, Aokiji puts Sub.
Tentacruel breaks the Sub, Aokiji puts another one.
Tentacruel breaks Sub, Aokiji heals with Roost.
No more Sludge Bombs, Tentacruel uses Surf. Aokiji heals again.

I missclick and send Shellhead into Surf.

I recall Shellhead and send Soprano. I scouted for Giga Drain, but what Tentacruel does is Power Whip instead.
Soprano protects from Surf.
Sorpano takes Surf and paralyzes Tentacruel.
Soprano protects.

Shellhead takes Surf.

Due to Power Whip, I can,t use this Tenta as set-up fodder. So I send Aokiji into the next Power Whip.
Aokiji puts Sub. Tentacruel can,t move.
Aokiji uses Air Slash, this is my first offensive move in this battle. Tentacruel breaks the Sub with Surf.
Aokiji puts Sub. Tentacruel can,t move.
Aokiji heals with Roost. Tentacruel doesn,t break the Sub with Surf this time.
Aokiji flinches Tentacruel with Air Slash.
Aokiji flicnhes Tentacruel again.
Aokiji uses Air Slash, Tentacruel breaks the Sub with Surf.
Aokiji puts Sub, Tentacruel can,t move.
Aokiji kills Tentacruel:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Koga's scariest Mon comes, Muk. Aokiji heals with Roost, Sub gets broken by Fire Blast.
Aokiji puts Sub, broken by another Fire Blast.

Lava Bosa comes into the last Fire Blast.
Muk poisons Lava Bosa with Toxic, taking Flamethrower.
Muk uses Gunk Shot, Lava damages it with Flamethrower.
Muk uses Gunk Shot again... and flinches Lava Bosa with Stench before she can use Recover. Fuuuuck:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

I send Shellhead, but Gunk Shot does over a half to him.

Shellhead heals with Regenerator as I am forced to switch Aokiji into Gunk Shot:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

This could actually be good for me, since it means, Muk can,t use Toxic now on the forced Roost.
Aokiji heals with Roost, Muk uses Minimize. Ok, this is going to be long and painful.
Aokiji uses Ice Beam, Muk boosts the Evasion again.
Aokiji misses Ice Beam, Muk gets maximum Evasion.
Aokiji heals. Turns out, Gunk Shot only has 5 PPs, not 10 as I thought. This means, Muk is out of PPs and can,t do anything except trying to boost Evasion.
Aokiji gets a Sub for free.
Aokiji heals.
Aokiji misses Ice Beam.
Aokiji lands Ice Beam, but Muk survives it in red.
Aokiji heals with Roost.
Aokifi finishes Muk:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

After Muk, Weezing is next. Aokiji uses Ice Beam, Weezing misses Thunder.
Aokiji uses Roost. Weezing hits Thunder, but due to Roost, it doesn,t break the Sub.
Aokiji uses Ice Beam and is lucky:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Aokiji finishes Weezing:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Forretress comes. Aokiji heals, but Forretress puts Spikes. Lava Bosa can,t come into the field anymore.
Aokiji uses Air Slash, Forretress puts a second layer of Spikes.
Aokiji flinches Forretress.
Forretress uses Protect, avoiding Air Slash this way.
Aokiji is forced to heal, allowing Forr to put the third layer.
Forretress protects.
Forretress protects again.
Forretress tries to protect again but fails and is hit by Air Slash.
Aokiji heals. Forretress exploded, breaking the Sub:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Arbok comes and I have no idea how to stop that thing. Arbok uses Sludge Bomb and gets hit by Ice Beam.
Arbok uses another Sludge Bomb, Aokiji heals.
Arbok uses Sludge Bomb, Aokiji heals.
Arbok uses Sludge Bomb, Aokiji freezes the snake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Aokiji heals for free, but its the last time, no more Roost PPs.
Aokiji finishes Arbok:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Crobat remains. It uses Aerial Ace and gets hit by Ice Beam.
After another Aerial Ace, the battle ends:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

...training.

This battle was insane. I should have lost between 1 and 3 Mons, but the freezes really saved me. I don,t know what I was thinking about when I decided to bring 3 poison weak Mons, but it definetely was a terrible idea. Aokiji destroyed all 6 opponents in the end, but it was a very long a painful path:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Kill count gets updated with only 1 Mon getting it updated:

Aokiji:
8
Shellhead: 3
Boletus: 1
Eeveeto: 0
Soprano: 0
Lava Bosa: 0

Chapter 61. Back to the gym.

I heal the team and make some adjustments vs Bruno. Aokiji now gets Sharp Beak.
Shellhead now has No Item. This is due to some fight Mons learning Knock Off, this will reduce the damage.
Boletus learns Aerial Ace instead of Dig.
Eeveeto gets Choice Specs as item instead of Assault Vest. He will be the lead.

I challenge Bruno:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Bruno leads with Hitmontop. It uses High Jump Kick and is murdered by Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Hitmonchan is next. This one stops Eeveeto's sweep with Poison Jab poisoning but still dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Eeveeto would have had to switch out of Steelix anyway. I send Shellhead into Iron Head.
Shellhead takes Earthquake and uses Surf. Steelix reveals having Leftovers, which means that Aokiji can,t come in to finish it.

Instead, I send Boletus into EQ.
Steelix uses Curse and is slept by Spore.

I send Shellhead again.
Shellhead kills Steelix with Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Heracross is really dangerous. Soprano comes in and avoids Megahorn.
Heracross uses a very powerful Close Combat and is paralyzed.
Soprano protects.

Boletus comes into CC. It doesn,t do too much, meaning Heracross doesn,t have Guts.

Aokiji comes in. Heracross can,t move.
Aokiji kills Heracross with Air Slash:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Ace Machamp is next. Aokiji puts Sub while Machamp boosts with Bulk Up.
Aokiji crits Air Slash but Machamp survives it and breaks the Sub with Stone Edge.
Aokiji finishes Machamp:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Only Hitmonlee remains. I send Shellhead while it uses Bulk Up.
Hitmonlee uses a powerful Sucker Punch and is hit by Psychic.
Hitmonlee fails Sucker Punch, Shellhead uses Recover.
Hitmonlee uses Bulk Up again, Shellhead heals.
+2 Sucker Punch leaves Shellhead in red, but battle ends:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Bruno did some major damage to my team, but he still is probably the easiest member of Elite Four:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Kill count gets updated, Eeveeto finally got a couple of kills, though Aokiji still is far away from everyone else:

Aokiji: 10
Shellhead: 5
Eeveeto: 2
Boletus: 1
Soprano: 0
Lava Bosa: 0

Chapter 62. The darkest hour.

I heal the team before Karen. Eeveeto gets his Assault Vest back.
Shllehead gets a Quick Claw.
Aokiji gets Lum Berry as the item.
Boletus forgets Aerial Ace and learns Leech Life again. He will be the lead.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Karen leads with Umbreon, who uses Toxic on Boletus and gets slept.
Boletus uses Leech Life.
Boletus finishes Umbreon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Karen sends Weavile. I switch Lava Bosa in. Weavile crits Ice Punch but gets burned by Flame Body. However...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Weavile uses ice Punch.
Weavile uses Ice Punch.
Weavile uses Screech but misses. Lava Bosa thaws and uses Recover.

I switch Soprano into Ice Punch.
Soprano protects from Ice Punch.
Soprano takes Ice Punch and uses Hyper Voice.
Soprano protects.
Soprano takes another Ice Punch and finishes Weavile with Hyper Voice:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Karen sends a scary Gengar. Soprano protects from Thunder.
Soprano gets slept by Hypnosis.
Gengar misses Thunder.
Gengar hits Thunder and is paralyzed by Thunder Wave.

Gengar uses Thunder for free.

I am forced to bring Eeveeto before I would have liked, but at least Gengar can,t move.
Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball, Gengar can,t move.
Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball, Gengar still can,t move.
Eeveeto kills Gengar:

Honchkrow uses Night Slash, Lava Bosa heals.
Honchkrow finally gets burned when it uses Night Slash, Lava Bosa heals.
Honchkrow uses Night Slash, Lava Bosa uses Shell Smash, consuming White Herb.
Honchkrow fails Sucker Punch, Lava Bosa boosts to +4. Honchrkow dies from the burn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Unfortunately, Lava Bosa won,t be able to use the boosts, since Karen sends a Tyranitar. I am also forced to sack Soprano into EQ, which crits:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

RIP Soprano.
At least she got to kill something.

Aokiji is my only option vs Tyranitar. He puts Sub, avoiding Stone Edge.
Aokiji heals with Roost. Sub gets broken by Stone Edge.
Aokiji puts Sub, broken by Stone Edge.
Aokiji puts Sub, broken by Crunch. Sandstorm ends.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Houndoom remains. It uses Nasty Plot and gets hit by Air Slash.
Houndoom breaks the Sub with Fire Blast and gets hit by Air Slash again.

Shellhead takes the next +2 Fire Blast.

Eeveeto enters into Dark Pulse.
Eeveeto survives in red Fire Blast and uses Moonblast.

I need to sack Boletus here. But Karen doesn,t kill it yet, instead she heals Houndoom.
So I heal Eeveeto while Boletus gets deleted by Fire Blast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

RIP Boletus.
And he might not be the last sack.

I send Aokiji. However, Karen doesn,t use Fire Blast while I switch Lava Bosa in but Dark Pulse instead. Lava Bosa survives in red.

Eeveeto takes the next Dark Pulse.
Eeveeto takes Dark Pulse and drops Houndoom's Special Attack with Moonblast.
Houndoom uses Nasty Plot and gets hit by Moonblast.
Houndoom uses another Dark Pulse and battle ends:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

...path.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

...you again.

Very hard battle and Lance's one will be even harder, since now I am down to 4 Mons:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Kill count:

Aokiji: 11
Shellhead: 5
Eeveeto: 4
Boletus: 2
Lava Bosa: 1
Soprano: 1

Chapter 63. Broken dragons.

For the last Battle, I use the secret weapon: the 8 Rare Candies that I have stocked. Aokiji eats 3, Eeveeto eats 4 and Shellhead takes the last one.
I also do some moveset changes. Shellhead forgets Calm Mind and learns Thunder Wave. He also takes a Rocky Helmet as item.
Lava Bosa gets Sitrus Berry as the item, I don,t expect Lava Bosa to be able to use Recover in this battle.
Aokiji gets Never Melt Ice to hit harder.
Eeveeto has his moveset changed the most: he forgets both Dig and Shadow Ball, learning Calm Mind and Protect. He also gets Leftovers as the item.

With everything ready, I challenge Lance:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

...now.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Aokiji finishes Gyarados with Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Lance sends his first Dragonite, who uses Rain Dance and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Aerodactyl is next. It breaks the Sub, but Aokiji puts another one.
Aerodactyl breaks the Sub again, Aokiji puts another one.
Aerodactyl breaks the Sub, Aokiji heals with Roost.

Lance withdraws Aerodactyl and sends Charizard. Aokiji puts a Sub.
Charizard breaks the Sub with Flare Blitz and reveals Life Orb. Aokiji damages it with Ice Beam.

I switch Shellhead into the next Flare Blitz. Charizard ends up in red due to recoil, Life Orb and Rocky Helmet.

I switch Eeveeto into Outrage.

I switch Shellhead in, expecting Flare Blitz, but Charizard heals with Roost.
Charizard uses Outrage...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

RIP Shellhead.
I didn,t expect Outrage to do so much.

Eeveeto finishes Charizard:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Scary Aerodactyl is back. Eeveeto protects from Brave Bird.

Lava Bosa switches into Aerodactyl and burns it with Flame Body.
Aerodactyl uses Brave Bird again, forcing Lava Bosa to consume the Sitrus Berry. Lava Bosa manages to use Recover.
Aerodactyl uses Brave Bird, Lava Bosa damages it with Ancient Power.
Aerodactyl uses Brave Bird, Lava Bosa heals.
Aerodactyl uses Brave Bird, Lava Bosa heals.
Aerodactyl uses Brave Bird, Lava Bosa heals.
Aerodactyl finally suicides. It didn,t have Rock Head, but Tough Claws:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Lava Bosa heals. But she has to escape, Kingdra comes in.

I send Eeveeto into Hydro Pump, which does a lot.
Eeveeto protects.
Kingdra leaves Eeveeto in red, but Eeveeto heals with Draining Kiss.
Eeveeto protects.
Kingdra uses the last Hydro Pump, Eeveeto boosts with Calm Mind.

Lance withdraws Kingdra and sends ace shiny Dragonite, while Eeveeto protects.
Eeveeto protects from Iron Head.

Lava Bosa takes Iron Head.
Dragonite uses Outrage...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

RIP Lava Bosa. Thats a strong Dragon.

I send Eeveeto. Dragonite uses Outrage and gets confused. Eeveeto uses Moonblast... and activates Weakness Policy. FUUUUUCK.
Dragonite attacks despite being confused:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

RIP Eeveeto. The overall MVP of the team, the Mon that saved me many times, is down. This might be the end of the run.

But its not the end of the run, Dragonite damages itself and dies from Aokiji's Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Kingdra remains. It uses Dragon Pulse, Aokiji heals.
Kingdra uses Dragon Pulse, Aokiji heals.
Kingdra crits Dragon Pulse, Aokiji heals.
Kingdra continues attacking, Aokiji heals.
Kingdra uses Dragon Pulse again, Aokiji strikes back with Ice Beam.
Kingdra uses Struggle, Aokiji heals.
Kingdra crits with Struggle but its not enough and it dies from the recoil:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

...quite a team.

Now, this was an incredibly difficult battle that I only won due to the confusion. Lance's team was broken, all of Charizard, Aerodactyl and ace Dragonite were almost impossible to counter.

For the remaining battles of the game, these are the Mons I can use along with Aokiji:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Eevee can only be either Glaceon or Flareon. Exeggcute can,t evolve, since I don,t have the Odd Souvenir needed (Kanto Exeggutor is forbidden), the Oddish can only be Bellosom (already had a Vileplume) and the Pichu can,t evolve (so, has to use Focus Sash + Counter to do something). This means, that the sinergy of the team will be terrible, so the end of the journey will be as tough as Lance.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 64. The Lab of doom.

Despite the limited amount of Mons I have, there is still an option to make a team without repeating types: Eevee (has no nick, since it was traded), Melenas (Alolan Diglett), Lord Helix (Omanyte), Tximeleta (Venomoth) and Maria (Oddish) enter the team.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

After training all the team to level 80, I go to Pallet Town. Profesor Oak tells me about Mount Silver, but doesn,t trust in my ability to go there:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

...trainer, so its off limits.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

...myself.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Oak leads with Tauros. Melenas is my lead, but its intimidated. Therefore I switch Maria into Earthquake.
Tauros uses EQ again and is slept by Sleep Powder.
Maria uses Giga Drain.

Oak withdraws Tauros and sends Dodrio, who is hitmy Giga Drain too. Then, my worst nightmare happens. Dodrio activates Berserk Gene and boosts its Attack and Evasion at the same time (Tangled Feet), getting confused at least. I have no switch-in for that broken bird.
Dodrio hits itself but Maria misses Sleep Powder.
Dodrio hits itself again and Maria sleeps it this time.
Maria lands Moonblast and kills the broken haxed bird:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Oak sends Charizard. I swith Lord Helix into Flare Blitz. Charizard reveals Life Orb as the item.
Charizard uses Dragon Claw and Lord Helix boosts with Shell Smash, consuming White Herb.
Lord Helix kills Charizard with Earth Power:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Tauros comes back. Its faster than +2 Lord Helix and uses Earthquake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

RIP Lord Helix. There won,t be Shell Smash sweeps anymore.

Maria comes in. Oak withdraws Tauros and sends Blastoise, who is slept.

I switch Melenas in, Blastoise is very dangerous with Shell Smash to do something else.
Melenas uses Earthquake but Blastoise wakes up and uses Close Combat:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

RIP Melenas. There goes my last Steel type.

Blastoise consumes White Herb to heal both Defenses drops and the Speed one from Tangling Hair. That doesn,t help him though, Tximeleta KOs with Tinted Lens Bug Buzz.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Tauros comes back. I switch Maria into Stone Edge. Dangerous move right now, Maria is the only Mon that isn,t weak to it.
Tauros uses Stone Edge, Maria heals with Healing Light.

Oak withdraws Tauros and sends a level 82 Nidoking, who is above all my team. Fortunately, Maria lands Sleep Powder.

As I switch Aokiji in, Oak uses Full Restore to wake up Nidoking.
Nidoking uses Thunder Punch, Aokiji heals with Roost.
Nidoking uses Thunder Punch, Aokiji heals with Roost.
Nidoking uses Thunder Punch, Aokiji heals again.
Nidoking continues attacking, Aokiji healing.
Nidoking still attacks, Aokiji still heals.
Nidoking uses another Thunder Punch, Aokiji continues healing.
Nidoking uses Thunder Punch, Aokiji heals.
Nidoking uses what I think is the last Thunder Punch, Aokiji heals.
Nidoking uses Poison Jab, Aokiji heals again. I look Poison Jab PPs and see I won,t be able to outstall this move, I need to attack.
Nidoking uses Poison Jab, Aokiji freezes it with Ice Beam.
However, Nidoking defrosts next turn and uses Poison Jab, Aokiji heals.
Nidoking uses another Poison Jab, Aokiji heals.
Nidoking uses another Poison Jab and dies from Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Tauros comes back once again. I switch Maria into Stone Edge.

While Maria heals, Oak sends his last Mon, Venusaur.

I switch Tximeleta into Giga Drain.

Oak withdraws Venusaur and sends Tauros again, who is hit by Psychic.

Maria takes Stone Edge.

Oak sends Tauros again while Maria heals.

I switch Maria into Leech Seed.
Expecting Tauros, I use Sludge Bomb, but Venusaur stays and uses Giga Drain.
Tximeleta uses Psychic and drops Venusaur's Special Defense. Venu uses Giga Drain.
Tximeleta uses Psychic and again drops Venusaur's Special Defense, taking Giga Drain.
Venusaur protects from Sludge Bomb.
Tximeleta finishes Venusaur:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Tauros comes for last time. So, Maria takes Stone Edge.
Tauros uses Struggle and the battle ends with a Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Oak gives me permission to go to Mt. Silver after I sacked 2 Mons to him:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Finishing the chapter here, since I now need to train 2 new Mons.

Chapter 65. Red bloody mountain.

Now I am actually forced to repeat types. I choose Raya (Mantine) as my last surfing Mon and a nameless Cyndaquil as a Sun abusser.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

After the training I start the journey towards Mt. Silver. Route 28 is the first stop. There is no Pokemon to catch here (or anywhere at this point), but in a house I get the Steel Wing TM.

I explore Mt. Silver and find no one except Red, so I leave the place and train all my team to Level 90. I sell some items to get vitamins and then challenge Red:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Red leads with Pikachu, which has different sprite to usual. It misses Iron Tail vs Maria and is put to sleep.
Red heals Pikachu with Full Restore while Maria hits it hard with Moonblast.
Pikachu doesn,t miss Iron Tail and leaves Maria in red, but is killed by Giga Drain:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Red then sends an... Omastar? Since when Red has an Omastar? In any case I switch Typhlosion in, taking Ice Beam.
Typhlosion uses Specs Earth Power, but Omastar lives and uses Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

RIP Typhlosion. I trained this Mon for nothing.

Tximeleta kills Omastar with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Scary Espeon comes. I send Flareon, who triggers Sun but gets the Special Defense lowered by Psychic.

Raya takes the next Psychic.
Espeon uses Psychic again, Raya heals with Roost.
Espeon puts Reflect and is hit by Air Slash.
Espeon uses Psychic, Raya crits with Air Slash. Sun ends.
Espeon heals with Healing Light, Raya with Roost.
Espeon uses Psychic, Raya uses Surf.
Espeon uses Psychic, Raya heals.
Espeon uses Psychic and is hit by Surf.
Espeon heals, Raya uses Surf.
Espeon heals, Raya uses Surf.
Espeon uses Psychic, Raya heals.
Espeon heals, Raya uses Surf.
Espeon heals, Raya crits with Surf.
Espeon uses Psychic, Raya uses Surf.
Espeon uses Psychic and loweres Raya's Special Defense. Raya heals.
Espeon uses Shadow Ball, Raya heals.
Espeon uses Shadow Ball and finally dies from Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Scariest Mon comes, Snorlax. I don,t know how to stop this one. Raya uses Toxic but Snorlax has Immunity and uses Return.
Raya heals, Snorlax uses Curse.
I heal Maria, Snorlax uses Return, damaging Raya a lot.
Raya heals, Snorlax uses Return today.

Ok, time to use the classic strategy for these situations, I send Aokiji, who takes Return much better than Raya.
Aokiji puts a Substitute, broken by Return.
Aokiji heals with Roost, Snorlax uses Return.
Aokiji heals with Roost, Snorlax uses Return.
Aokiji puts a Sub, Snorlax uses Curse.
Aokiji heals with Roost, Snorlax breaks Sub.
Aokiji puts a Sub. Snorlax boosts with Curse.
Aokiji heals with Roost. Snorlax breaks the Sub.
Aokiji puts a Sub. Snorlax breaks it.
Aokiji puts a Sub. Snorlax breaks it.
Aokiji heals. Snorlax uses Return and now does over a half.
Aokiji heals. Snorlax uses Curse. Did he run out of PPs?
Aokiji puts a Sub. Snorlax uses Curse.
Aokiji heals. Snorlax uses Curse.

I switch Raya in. Snorlax uses Curse, but its already at +6.
Raya uses Roost, she has just another one left. Snorlax uses Curse.
Raya uses Toxic despite Snorlax being immune. Snorlax uses Curse.

I send Flareon. Snorlax uses Curse.

I send Raya back. Snorlax uses Rest. So, looks like its Monoatacker.

After that many turns of switching begin. Snorlax finishes the Rest PPs and then starts using Sleep Talk.
Maria is on the field when Snorlax uses the last Sleep Talk. Now I have to deal with +6 Struggle.
Maria misses Sleep Powder, so Snorlax does over a half with Struggle, but gets recoil, including one from Rocky Helmet.
Maria heals with Healing Light, getting hit by another Struggle.
Maria heals again, Snorlax suicides:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Ok, biggest threat is down, but Red still has 2 Mons. And the next one is a Charizard. I send Raya into Flare Blitz and she is burned.
Charizard uses Dragon Claw, Raya heals.
Charizard uses Dragon Claw, Raya misses Toxic. I am doomed.

Maria takes the next Dragon Claw, being immune to it.

I then sack Raya into Flare Blitz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

RIP Raya.
There goes my last Water type.

Maria gets sacked next:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

RIP Maria. Very useful Mon, a shame it had to be sacked.

Aokiji has more HP than Tximeleta, so I send him. And he actually lives the Tough Claw boosted Flare Blitz, killing the dragon with Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Last is a fucking Yellow Gyarados of all things. It also has Quick Claw, activates it and uses Waterfall:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

RIP Aokiji. The legend is down. This is likely the end. Its also a proof that to be the very best you need to use haxy items.

Tximeleta comes in and poisons Gyarados with Sludge Bomb. She lives Waterfall at +1 (from Moxie).
Tximeleta uses Roost and survives next Waterfall with 20 HP.

I sack Flareon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

RIP Flareon.
My only chance probably is now a crit from Tximeleta. Gyarados loses some health from poison.

And then...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Live Red reaction after the crit:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Is this the end of the game?

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

No, it isn,t! There is someone stronger than Red that I am yet to defeat. Battle vs Red was brutal and I barely survived. But the next one is going to be even tougher, since Tximeleta will have to be paired with 5 Mons out of these:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

One way or another, next chapter is going to be the end of the run. Make your bets about the final team and results.

Chapter 66. End of the journey.

I need to build an entire new team for the final battle. JuanPalomo (Pidgeot) is an obvious choice for that, he has been on the team many times since the very beginning of the game and proved to be a solid Flying Mon.
Ignea the Arcanine is an Intimidate user, another obvious choice.
Galarian Rapidash can be supported by Ignea's Intimidate in order to use Calm Mind and sweep.
Sagua provides an immunity to Electric and can kill something with Counter + Focus Sash.
Finally, Palmero (Exeggcute) can,t evolve into Alolan Exeggutor due to a bad game design (only one unit of the item by which 3 different Mons evolve), but has a solid physical bulk with Eviolite and is the only Water resist that remains.

I train this team to level 100 and teach them all the needed moves. Looking at my Mon's Stats, they are very far from the maximum values they have in GSC... except Sagua:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

He actually has higher Speed and both offensive Stats that what should be possible in GSC (and no, its Stats weren,t increased in this game):

1680641151079.png

Anyway, I sell almost all my items now, including Berries and healing ones, buying lots of Vitamins in exchange, which I give to the team.

After going totally broke, I visit Vermilion City. There I use the Mystic Ticket:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

And so I arrive to Navel Rock:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

I follow the only possible way until I see stairs:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

I go downstairs and explore a small laberynth in which I find Sacred Ash:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

In another coridor I find a Masterball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Sacred Ash is an item that is worth 25000, meaning I can buy 2 vitamins, so I go to Celadon City and sell it.

After I boost my team again, I come back to Navel Rock and finish the central coridor, where I see more stairs:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

I go up to the very top of Navel Rock, where the final trainer of the game awaits me:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Green is the final trainer, with Champion Iris theme. And she leads with a hard to check Mon, a Lapras, who learns Shell Smash in this game. Ignea is my lead and uses Toxic, taking a Thunderbolt instead of the expected Surf.

I switch Palmero into the next Thunderbolt. Lapras reveals having Leftovers, meaning its probably not a Shell Smash set.

Ignea takes Ice Beam and...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Well shit, amazing beginning.

I switch Palmero into Thunderbolt.

Ignea takes Ice Beam.
Ignea stays on the field, still frozen. Lapras uses Rest.

I switch Rapidash in. Lapras uses Sleep Talk but triggers Rest.
Rapidash uses Calm Mind. Lapras triggers Ice Beam with Sleep Talk.
Rapidash uses Calm Mind again. Lapras wakes up and uses Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Well, unless I thaw this was the run. Fortunately, I do:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Rapidash heals with Healing Light. Lapras uses Ice Beam.
Rapidash uses Moonblast and drops Lapras's Special Attack, but that doesn,t matter:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Rapidash heals with Healing Light, Lapras uses Ice Beam.
Rapidash uses Calm Mind and gets hit by Ice Beam.
Rapidash heals with Healing Light and gets hit by Ice Beam again.
Rapidash uses Moonblast and gets hit by another Ice Beam...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Fuck this Lapras, really. But Rapidash has resilience:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Gone! Time to sweep. Green sends her ace level 100 Venusaur. It doesn,t get to attack, since Rapidash has Psychic:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Next is Moltres. Rapidash uses Psychic and gets hit by Fire Blast.
Rapidash finishes Moltres:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

Green still refuses to send a physical Mon and sends Sylveon instead. Rapidash uses Moonblast and gets hit by Hyper Voice.
Rapidash uses Healing Light. Sylveon uses Hyper Voice again. Its a strong Sylveon, I can,t boost safely on it.
Rapidash finishes Sylveon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Sweep probably ends here, Green finally sends an Aerodactyl. And it uses Hone Claws, tanking a Moonblast.
Aerodactyl uses Rock Slide and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

Last is a level 99 Mew. It uses Nasty Plot while Rapidash heals, using the last Healing Light PP.
Mew uses Nasty Plot again. Rapidash hits it with Moonblast.
What could have been the final turn of the battle is ruined by Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

This time Rapidash doesn,t thaw. And now I have to sack it despite being the MVP.
Rapidash lives another turn with just 9 HP but can,t thaw.

I want Rapidash to survive this battle, so I sack a Mon that wouldn,t be helpful vs Mew anyway, Palmero:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

RIP Palmero. Didn,t even get to move in this battle.

Next sack I do is Sagua. It lives a Psychic due to Focus Sash and paralyzes Mew with Thunder Wave.
I click Thunder Wave again next turn, in case Green decides to heal Mew. It doesn,t happen, but Mew can,t move.
I click Thunder Wave again, Mew moves this time:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

RIP Sagua. Kinda unfair to sack babies to a Uber.

Tximeleta comes in and the battle is finished with a Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

Green leaves and the game is finished:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-28.png

This last battle was pretty one-sided, except for the freeze core of Lapras + Mew. If Green had a Banded Aerodactyl or another physical Mon, it could have been way more difficult.

These are the only surviving Mons of this hard run, 2 of them finished the last battle frozen:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-29.png

Before finishing this post, lets see what important trainers I couldn,t battle against due to not doing certain events (probably involving legendaries or Unowns).

First is Giovanni, who has 2 battles:

I have no idea how to battle vs Giovanni, but I suspect it would have required catching Celebi. That team at that level would have been pretty broken vs what I had in mid 60s. A trapper, an LO Nidoking + Nidoqueen (when my Special wall was a Sylveon), a Parental Bond Kanga and that armored Mewtwo were run enders if I ever faced them.

Next one is Palmer:

; ================

Has higher level than Giovanni but overall an easier team to beat, despite the Snorlax. I have no idea in which part of the game he is and how to battle vs him. Certainly is not in the Battle Tower, since there I can only use 3 Mons and he has 6.

Next is Steven:

db 62, STEELIX, MUSCLE_BAND, ABILITY_1 | NAT_NEUTRAL, MALE

db EARTHQUAKE, STONE_EDGE, IRON_HEAD, SANDSTORM

I actually know what to do in order to battle vs this one, catch all the Unown forms. Not worth my time. Spikes would have made switching really hard and he certainly would have killed 3 or 4 Mons if I faced him, especially with the Rock Slide + Kings Rock Aerodactyl.

Cynthia is also unlocked with the Unowns:

db 61, GLISCOR, KINGS_ROCK

db SWORDS_DANCE, NIGHT_SLASH, X_SCISSOR, SCREECH
db -1 ; end

Togekiss and Kingdra are the only really threatening Mons here and since Togekiss is the lead, I would have had a fresh team to face it. Pretty easy match if I bothered to play it.

I saw Darach and Caitlin at one house, but they are currently unavailable to battle:

Solid Monofairy here, especially since I almost never had Steel types. Would have caused some casualties.

If I caught Entei, Raikou and Suicune, I would have been able to battle vs Bill:

; ================

; BILL_T

db "Bill@"

db TRAINERTYPE_ITEM | TRAINERTYPE_MOVES

; party

db 62, VAPOREON, MYSTIC_WATER

db RECOVER, BARRIER, HAZE, SCALD

db -1 ; end

Considering the choice of Mons, its not a bad team, all have strong offensive power and aren,t frail at the same time, I would have sweated vs him.

Finally, Lawrence. I suspect I needed to catch all the legendaries in order to face him instead of killing them. Lawrence had 2 battles, I will show the stronger team:

db 75, ARTICUNO, BRIGHTPOWDER, ABILITY_1 | NAT_NEUTRAL, MALE

db -1 ; end

I don,t undertsand why he has a Charizard instead of Moltres, but it does make the team way better. The offensive power of this team is absurd, and like Giovanni, there is a good chance I would have lost the Nuzlocke vs him unless I specifically counterteamed it(I didn,t check teams of the opponents during the run, I only looked them now). Still a shame not being able to face him, since he probably had the Zinnia battle theme.

So, nothing more to say, game is finished. It was a hard game, though I would have apreciated it being completed, the Orange Island part was not. I still recommend playing this game, it has hard enough battles even with normal teams and good features from later gens.

The end.
