Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

Considering we are at the 7th and worlds is next week, I would say it's actually a valid reason to expect nothing.

If there was any Direct happening, they'd have already announced it.
Last year they announced it only 4 days ahead of time, on the Friday before the presents.
It is fully on the table to announce a presents on Friday for it to premiere Tuesday before Worlds kicks off that Friday. Exactly the same as last year, shifted forward a week.

I'm not saying they will do this. It's possible they decide this year to have it after Worlds; maybe they want to show something at Worlds first this time. It's also possible we skip a presents in August precisely because they won't have anything major to show at this moment (lord knows the mobile games can just put out their own trailers as per usual); perhaps they instead have one next month or in October if they feel that's closer to their proposed release date.
But I am saying that the idea that they wouldn't because of Worlds is factually wrong and that they would have announced it already is at least potentially wrong.

So it's not like there isn't precedent to follow suit...honestly I fully expected Shiny Koraidon & Miraidon to be released already when they had the special Year of the Dragon tournament earlier in the year and added Miraidon to unite.

Hopefully they find some excuse. Between older mythical (Hoopa is almost 10 years old) and a whole bunch of legendary types over the past two gens + DLC, kind of hope we get to see the shiny versions soon.

And I am doubting it, but perhaps if the new Legends game has a new type or form, maybe we'll get lucky and they can transfer into Scarlet/Violet with an update but I really doubt that.

It's very unlikely anything new added in ZA will show up in SV. We had heavy copium Hisuians would show up in SwSh and nothing happened.

Whatever new shows up in ZA, be it new forms, new pokemon, or just older pokemon not present in SV (like xerneas and yveltal), we'll probably just see them in next mainline gen games

Future me is editing this here just to point out the biggest highlight is at the end where they show an Umbreon illegally using Will-O-Wisp.
So the tera raid tips series ended a while back and on August 1st, Pokemon still went through with posting their Will-O-Wisp Umbreon video onto Twitter and finally removed it after people pointed it out on a larger scale. They would repost it on August 9th without the entire Umbreon section.

They also replaced the link on the official site with an updated one for YouTube uploaded on August 8th, but didn't delete the old version from the playlist yet.

I also found out that the other Western languages have these shorts too after seeing Spanish posts about the Wisp Umbreon. It doesn't seem like the Spanish twitter ever reposted the last raid video, but the videos are also accessible from the official site/unlisted on YouTube, though it's just the same videos with different narration. The other languages don't provide a link to a playlist in the descriptions from what I've seen, so I guess the Will-O-Wisp Umbreon narration in other languages may be lost media now.

I know decent ev training spots for each stat(kinda,) but what are good spots for each one that ALSO have good item drops?

For example, items are mostly crap...uh, In a dlc spot. Maybe that's spoilers, shouldn't assume we all started them...

I am always a little low on resources from $ to lp to items, in SV. Was easier in ss.

I don't think there's any worries about spoilers of areas from DLC that's been out for a year, but I think the usual areas to pick stuff up are the wastes in Kitakami and the Desert in mainland Paldea. But honestly if you wind up doing a bunch of raids, and pick up all the random junk you get between crystals, you have a lot of sell fodder just from that. I've never been super behind on cash, where as SWSH was more of a pain.
You can also spam the Academy tournament.

The item printer also spits out quite a bit of sellables, iirc, in addition to just about every other item.

Ty! Ok I see a put it being out long enough now. I didn't know the desert was good, yeah paradise barrens is good for rare bones and ev.

Before the game was really ready to be played competitively, cause people were still playing it, I did so many raids lol. That and blisseys here and there mean I have lots of the weaker type shards, but stuff I use is usually low, for ex. Fire, steel, grass. I try to do some if they weak or useful for the Mon in the raid itself.

Edit: brilliant on the tourney, I'm too lazy to battle if it doesn't count but I should!

For what it's worth (since I'm not sure HOW frequent they show up around the maps), Blissey raids run alongside the 7* raids so you might see quite a few right now paired with Infernape.

Correct, it's specifically just the 3 SV dexes. You even get a message from Grand Oak about it, which I think is the only time he even shows up in the mobile version?

What a pleasant surprise, they should go back and add Shiny Keldeo for comleting the SWSH pokedexes.

e: The news post in the app specifically says they plan to add these type of gifts for Pokedex completion in the future as well, with Meloetta just being the first. Cynically I think that means only moving forward, but it'd be very cool to go back to the others.

You don't need the subscription, free users get one free box, it will just be tedious moving everything back and forth. It doesn't need to be a living dex.

It only counts mons native to SV, though, so mons from GO won't count toward the SV dex.

For me, I wait for shiny Miraidon distribution and hopefully eventually iron crown and boulder raids.... or for Debutante furfrou or excess GO shinies to actually have some trading power on the gts...

Sadly they do all need to be Pokemon with the correct origin to count. So I already qualify for S/V and Sw/Sh but I’d have to get to work on L:A and BDSP. (and buy LG if they added a good one from there)

with enough patience on the GTS, and willingness to bring them into other games to evolve, anything is possible

I complete the LG dex with just that and like 3 other trades on the side.

Quite fortunate for me that I had already done the Original magearna quest, since it meant I had most of the Pokemon I needed down pat.
Anyway, didn't they mention SV was "the first featured games"? That implies they'll be doing more of these for the other Switch games.

For PLA, I'm predicting Shiny Manaphy. Darkrai and Shaymin were available in BDSP (Shaymin had an event in GO, and Darkrai seems to be a yearly Halloween 5-star raid) and Arceus is outright available with just PLA save data. Manaphy has... the egg from Pokemon Ranger. And that's it.

As for SWSH? I don't really know, actually. Maybe they could continue with more gen 5 shinies and do Victini or Keldeo, OR they could release Zarude (even if its shiny is very shit). I'm not very sure for now.

Yeah Manaphy seems like a pretty good bet for either Sinnoh title (or both, if they decide to pair them together -which is how you're meant to get it in L:A to begin with). Especially since the egg from Ranger is like....they let it through, but the way to obtain it as shiny is more through an exploit than intent. Taking the opportunity to "properly" release it after all this time would be nice and finish off those gen 1-4 mythic shinies for real.

Keldeo feels like the safest bet since it, like Meloetta in SV, was the mythic it gave capturable access to.
If they do Let's Go (hard to say the full scope of this, really) I'm guessing they go with the old reliable Mew. If they release Meltan it can't evolve and Melmetal without Meltan feels...off. I mean they released shiny Solgaleo/Lunala without Cosmog/Cosmoem, but...I dunno....just the vibe, you know? I feel like it's gotta be Mew.

BDSP, if they decide to do it on its own and don't want to do Manaphy (or the other gen 4 Mythics I guess), I suppose they could do Shiny Jirachi? It's the other available gift mythic after all. But if there was one title they would go away from an "on brand" give away for, I think it should be this one and it should be a release of Shiny Deoxys.
Deoxys is in such a weird spot. It was only available in BDSP in Gen 8 and never had a give away; strictly speaking you can't fully complete the BDSP National Dex without transfering it from an earlier generation (Celebi had a give away in SWSH so you at least had that). It's in Gen 9 but also hasn't had any releases thus far. Even if you had Go, you can't bring Deoxys into those games without already having a Deoxys in this games.
So the one Gen 8 game that is Deoxys compatable getting the Pokemon that let's it complete its specific national dex in full, would be fitting.

I was surprised they have gotten through all the first 4 gens with no shiny locks anymore. Here’s the current counts for other gens.

Gen 5 - 2
Gen 6 - 2 (+2 forms)
Gen 7 - 4
Gen 8 - 7 (+1 form)
Gen 9 - 18 (+1 form)

I completed the dex but it isn't showing as complete in Home.

Does that mean I have to transfer all the pokemon from SV to Home in order for it to register so I can get the Meloetta?

Correct.
Home does not read the Pokedex from your game, it tracks it separately from the Pokemon that have specifically been placed into it. It also checks origin marks so a BDSP Drifloon will not count for the Paldea Dex.
