Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

It's a pretty slow process in fact, since you have to manually transfer every form of a Pokemon too.

I helped a couple friends get it yesterday, took a hot minute to catch / breed every starter, put them on home, take back, evolve, repeat...

Bit of a random, tangentially-related thing

NSO Subscribers will, later today, be able to download a Nintendo Music app to their phones and stream/download music from assorted games over the years new & old. Surprisingly this isn't just limited to Nintendo's usual stable of "in-house" games but also Pokemon Scarlet/Violet.

Nothing ground breaking really, but still kinda neat.

It’s neat and I have nothing against your post but there are some complaints I’ve seen that I want to mention

There is no credit given to the individual artists, the library of games is much smaller than you’d expect, it being NSO exclusive probably means that updates to fill in said library are not going to happen often and, though this one might be getting a bit too cynical, it just seems like an excuse to start mass copyright striking videos that use nintendo songs

It’s not much but it’s worth keeping in mind (though I’m unsure if the last one could be true)

The next Mythical Giveaway for buying merch (it's been called "Pokemon Scrap" in previous gens) in Japan has started up and the Mythics on offer this time are Deoxys, Keldeo & Zarude

Deoxys in particular is notable because outside of Go the last time this was available at all was ORAS. & even if you were in Go, you can't even put it in a game without already having a Deoxys there.

So that's great, if you live in Japan, and buy enough stuff to get the serial codes. Although I guess if you did enough imports maybe you could still get the codes if the website allows it outside Japan?

There'll also be a Shiny Rauqaza tera raid event in late December. I presume as a tie-in for the anime.

Back in SwSh I was able to get the Volcanion-Marshadow-Genesect distribution by buying a pack of Japanese cards that came with codes, so unless they changed it up for SV for some reason it should be possible to get this distribution the same way.

But also worth remembering that the SwSh distribution did eventually come to the West... at the very end of the generation... and 2/3 of the mythicals didn't make it into SV...

I'm actually both more hyped and surprised about the shiny Rayquaza. I know it was a common theory since it showed up in Horizons, but I never *actually* expected it to happen.

The cynical in me wants to say it wouldn't be interesting if the Indigo Disk didn't shinylock legendaries but it isn't like I would have shinyhunted them anyways so...

At least here in Spain, you could just ask for the 3 mythical codes in a Game store or similar. Through I do remember the subreddit of Home filling with people wanting to trade codes so they may have figured out it isn't a good system givrn how eqsily it can be abused..

Deoxys wasn't in SwSh and only Marshadow is missing from SV among those three.

Looking at this official statistic....

Protect, Drain Punch and Tera Blast make sense, they're competitively used moves, also very good for raids and overally useful even in casual runs.
Mud-Slap I wouldn't be surprised is mainly off people using it in raids or in very early game shenenigans.

....Take down???????

....Take down???????

Most likely for in-game reasons, aka story playthrough. It's very easy to make early on and while it's not a good move in any competitive environment, in-game it's a good early-mid game Normal move to do a lot of neutral damage to opponents in the early game and mid-game as an upgrade over what is usually Tackle as the starting basic Normal move. A 90 BP move that has a lot of PP and hits most things neutrally is more often than not a solid tool to have in a lot of Pokemon's arsenals early and mid-game for sheer power.

It does get outclassed by better moves later on, but in the early and mid-game for a standard in-game story playthrough, options for moves tend to be rather sparse and Take Down can be a good catch-all attack to teach a Pokemon in those situations as either STAB for early Normal-types or just as a raw power neutral attack on anything else. Plus you gotta admit, in the early game compared to the other moves most mons get, from a flavor standpoint Take Down does look pretty cool to use and see.

I guess that is reasonable, I just wouldn't make it ever cause i hate recoil move casually since they force me to heal all the time but I guess that's just a me thing

Pokemon put out a short animation for the upcoming Alolan Exeggutor raid event, showcasing the average online raid battle experience with 3 throwers bringing Pikachu/Wooper/Milotic and an AFK Hydrapple.

Admittedly the same circle does much better at making a shiny sandwich (code P4LD3AP1CN1C gives some miscellaneous ingredients) and the Pikachu gets a single win against a Flamigo in an outbreak.

It was posted in the Home thread, but relevant here in case folks don't look there.

The second wave of Home Pokedex completion gifts is here. Shiny Manaphy for completing the BDSP Pokedex and Shiny Enamorus for completing the L:A Pokedex. Please note that the L:A Pokedex requires Shaymin & Darkrai, which you only get with the save data bonuses for having SWSH & BDSP.

Also, L:A's soundtrack has been added to the Nintendo Switch Music app to celebrate its 3rd anniversary. I suspect that these two gifts were also meant to align with that anniversary.

You're correct on that. Both Serebii/Bulbapedia and the app confirm that. I finally downloaded it yesterday lol
