Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

For your own sanity don't miss them for the 4th time now if you haven't got them yet :wo:

Got them the first time so I'm all good.

... Hey, GF, since you're having Walking Wake/Iron Leaves, why not also do raids for Gouging Fire/Iron Boulder and Raging Bolt/Iron Crown. Heck, being we're probably near the end of the special raids, end it with a bang with a Koraidon/Miraidon.

People keep bringing up the other 4 paradoxes and I think as always the easy answer is "they want those to be exclusive to the DLC".

Honestly I don't think we're getting a real "bang" to go out on. We haven't had any 7* raids -not even a rerun of an old one- since they did the last non-gen-9 starter. The last time we had an "interesting" 5* raid was the Shiny Rayquaza. And that doesn't even function as a going-out deal since we've had a few other random 5*s since then.
Wouldn't surprise me if Pokemon Day either doesn't have anything or just reruns an older one again.

I really hope Wake and Leaves don't stay event exclusive in any subsequent Paradox appearance games. It kind of reminds me of how Gen 3 bizarrely made Ho-oh and Lugia from "normal" cover legendaries into fake-Mythicals for a while, limiting them to Event distributions or linking with the Gamecube games. It's very conspicuous here because they're obviously meant to be part of a Trio, and while I get keeping the "oooh aaah" Pokemon rare, they're gated by different methods entirely.

Somewhat related, but I'm glad this "aged poorly (tm)"

Honestly I enjoyed the various theorymonning for 7* raids so I'm glad we're getting a few more before the generation end.

Tera STAB guaranteed-crit never-miss Flower Trick, Unaware Torch Song, and Moxie snowballing... :blobnauseated:
Honestly compared to the previous raids, those aren't quite on my list of issues.

Both Unaware and Moxie get negated by your usual ability negation skills (Amoongus with Worry Seed is likely to just completely shut down Quaquaval without even trying). And I can foresee Contrary Lurantis being an absolutely hilarious suicide support against Skeledirge

As for the stab guaranteed crit... Tauros-Paldea(Fire) with Anger Point be like YES HURT ME MORE

Might as well also mention the Scarlet and Violet Rotom Phone Cases are now live until end-of-service. They’re version-exclusive. Codes are SB00KC0VER for Scarlet and VB00KC0VER for Violet.

Nice to have that last little loose end tied up.

I agree, but my perspective is more Azumarill-based and I really feel like at least one of these might be the new worst boss for it yet after Incineroar, or in general if you don't have a specific counter ready. I don't know what I would do without Sap Sipper, though I guess there's always tera. Anyway, that's a problem for the future in 9 hours. At least these last a full week too.

Also the Scarlet/Violet phone covers finally got released and are indefinite (but exclusive) gifts for now.

I know it's just something that was bound to happen because of Rotom already being reddish (more orange rrally, but you knlw what I mean) but as much as I like the look of the actual Scarlet book, the case just seems lamer compsred to the Violet one. Then again I feel like that for pretty much any exclusive customization from Scarlet...

Just wish they were not version exclusives. They are also not that very interrsting in the "inside" screen if it makes sense? Not compared to stufd like the Kitakami one. But well, at least we finally got them.

The Japanese site has 2 screenshots of the game running on the Switch 2, notably showing more Pokemon spawning onscreen in the lake of lag.

The screenshots themselves are still only 1024x576 like the other screenshots on the site.

EDIT: I remembered the Korean site usually has higher resolution screenshots and it does have these in a higher 3840x2160. The older screenshots they have are usually 1980x1080.

While the screenshots doipy posted demonstrate how there will be no attempt to rectify the stunning lack of visual polish in terms of textures and such I imagine a 60fps bump will still be a huge boost to a game that needs anything it can get
The textures are mostly fine aside from the one they used on all the cliff faces.

I knew it was wishful thinking of my part but man, I really hoped they'd at least redo the textures so they'll actually tile seamlessly.

There goes my hope of PLA with better clothing textures lol

I guess that would've been a nice bonus but a 60fps patch of its own would've been the real sick prospect

iirc Violet runs slightly worse than Scarlet on OG Switch due to particle effects on Miraidon. Good to know the two versions are likely to be parity with each other now. I'll also have another game to play (haven't touched SV yet) when my Switch 2 ships in.
