CoroCoro has confirmed some new details for the upcoming distributions of Shiny Celebi and Zarude that are set for Japan to tie in with the movie Coco
Shiny Celebi comes with the Lucky Egg and the moves Magical Leaf, Future Sight, Life Dew and Heal Bell
Zarude will come with Leftovers and the moves Close Combat, Power Whip, Swagger and Snarl "

Getting even sadder that these are Japan-exclusive

Well I mean we're absolutely going to get probably this exact same Zarude, just at a later date & through a different method.

Celebi could go either way, it feels like it varies generation to generation. Being a shiny mythical might better its chances than the Power of Us Lugia, at least. And lookign it up the weird case of Japan getting tie-in Mewtwo while America & Europe got a...different, Let's Go Mewtwo, that Japan did not get???

Well, at least Zarude has a great coverage move going for it now.

The new battle competition allows transfers, and the website has displayed all allowed game sources. Colosseum is listed, but XD is not. I remember there being legality issues with XD moves, so I guess that was intended for whatever reason. Thank you game freak

That is...really bizarre. They certainly have no problems with letting XD pokemon actually into the games, so why is XD and only XD the exemption here and with regards to moves and such.

The real issue here is that a value of 15 in the "Origin Game" field was used for both Colosseum and XD. That list is based on a translation of the mapping between origin game IDs in numerical order and their game names, but when you see a 15 that's insufficient to tell which one of those games it translates to (unless you look deeper into heuristics like which Pokemon are possible to obtain in each game), so they just picked one.

That's a pretty interesting quirk.
So it's possible that XD pokemon would be allowed in the tournament just the rules list writer didn't double check the values to also jsut throw XD into the list? Since a Colosseum Togetic and an XD Duskull would share the same Game value

Huh. It's interesting that the male Salandit becomes female upon evolution, because there's code in place to prevent stuff similar to that from happening (see Azurill).
It's specifically because the possibility of male salazzle/vespiquen isn't coded in, hence this is what it defaults to.

Anything else get sneaked into the update outside of the obvious changes?

Took them a while to fix the cashing issues, but better late than never.

It's new to gen 6.
To get a more detailed explanation, back when Gen III came out, They introduced an invisible value called PID. It is a long strong of Hexidecimal digits that each Pokemon has, to make them unique. Back in Gen III, PID also determined Unown Form, what cocoon Wurmple evolves into, Spinda pattern, Shininess, Gender, IVs, Nature, and Ability via comparion to your Trainer ID and Secret ID, though for Bred and Mystery Gift Pokemon it doesn't care about IVs. Also means that it is impossible to get Random Encounter, Stationary Encounter(including legends) and Shadow Pokemon with perfect stats, Because Azurill has a different gender ratio from Marill, there was a slight chance that a PID that would produce a Female Azurill would produce a Male Marill, since PID doesn't change upon evolution.

Over time, PID became less important. In Gen IV, it no longer determined Unown Form. In Gen V, it no longer determined IVs(and thus perfect wild and stationary Pokemon were possible), and finally in Gen VI all other uses of it were eliminated except Wurmple's evolution, Spinda pattern, and Shininess, thus allowing Azurill to retain its gender no matter what after evolving. Also allowed Ability Capsule to be created, since Ability was no longer tied to PID(Hidden Abilities add an internal flag to the Pokemon that overrides the normal abilities, which is how it was able to exist in Gen V when PID still determined Ability and Transferred Pokemon from Gen III and IV were available)

All official VGC happenings have been cancelled up to May 14th due to the ongoing epidemic. While its not certain, it should be expected that any game news regarding the dlc may be delayed or postponed as well.

I don't see how VGC or the virus would affect game news? Nintendo and other game companies are going ahead with their reveals, videogames are one of the few industries actually benefiting from everyone staying home
