[OVERVIEW]

Polteageist's primary role in the UU metagame is as a late-game sweeper; with support to eliminate its weaknesses to priority moves and Dark-types, it becomes a premier offensive threat. Shell Smash and powerful coverage options like Giga Drain and Stored Power make it a threatening setup sweeper that can easily OHKO much of the tier. However, Polteageist's frail defensive stats means it needs significant team support to truly be a consistent threat; while it's a powerful sweeper, it's still a predictable one due to having only one viable set, unlike other setup sweepers such as Necrozma, Mew, and Kommo-o. Additionally, Polteageist struggles to break through Dark-types like Zarude, Grimmsnarl, and Galarian Moltres. The potential upside of using Polteageist is huge, but its weakness to entry hazards and priority alongside its inability to break through several common metagame threats can easily hamper its success. Polteageist works best with Psychic Terrain support to neutralize its weakness to priority, and while it can succeed with dual screens support, there are several other setup sweepers that require less support and are easier to justify.

[SET]
name: Shell Smash Sweeper
move 1: Shell Smash
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Stored Power
move 4: Giga Drain
item: Focus Sash
ability: Weak Armor
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Stored Power takes advantage of Shell Smash and Weak Armor boosts to boost its Base Power, and it provides powerful coverage. Giga Drain offers important coverage against threats like Krookodile and allows Polteageist to recover HP, eliminating entry hazard and chip damage and restoring the usefulness of a nullified Focus Sash. Weak Armor further boosts Polteageist's Speed past threats like Timid Venusaur in sun and Adamant Barraskewda in rain, and it boosts Stored Power even further.

Psychic Terrain blocks common priority moves like Scizor's Bullet Punch and Mamoswine's Ice Shard and prevents them from revenge killing Polteageist. It also boosts Stored Power, allowing Polteageist to OHKO Pokemon like bulky Salamence that would otherwise tank a hit and OHKO in return. As such, Indeedee-F is a perfect partner: it sets up Psychic Terrain on the switch, it can help lure in and weaken threats like Zarude, and it can offer last-ditch support with Healing Wish. On Psychic Terrain builds, Necrozma can help weaken opposing Dark-types for Polteageist and Nihilego can work along with Polteageist as an effective sweeper. Entry hazard setters like Mew and Krookodile can help weaken enemy Pokemon to make sweeping easier. If you opt not to use Psychic Terrain, dual screens support from setters like Grimmsnarl can help Polteageist boost without fear of being OHKOed, and Taunt Krookodile can prevent opposing entry hazards from being set. Stacking other offensive threats like Gyarados, Nasty Plot Mew, and Kommo-o to weaken checks like Zarude and Galarian Moltres can help overwhelm the opponent and clear a way for Polteageist to clean up late-game.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

White Herb can be used in place of Focus Sash to restore the reduced defenses from Shell Smash, making Polteageist less immediately weak to priority moves like Scizor's Bullet Punch. This fits best on teams with dual screens support, whereas Focus Sash should always be used with Psychic Terrain. Hyper Beam can be run as a nuke to nearly always OHKO Zarude while retaining the ability to OHKO Krookodile, but it's situational and leaves Polteageist open to being set up on. It's best reserved for teams with partners like Azumarill and Swords Dance Lycanroc-D that benefit from Zarude being lured.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types** : Dark-types like Zarude, Galarian Moltres, Incineroar, and Grimmsnarl can all stomach a boosted Shadow Ball with ease, and immunity to Stored Power means they need to be weakened significantly before Polteageist can break through them. Additionally, Galarian Moltres can use Polteageist as setup fodder.

**Priority Moves**: Without Psychic Terrain support, Polteageist is extremely vulnerable to priority. Defense drops from Weak Armor and Shell Smash combined with its poor defensive stats means that common priority users like Scizor, Lycanroc-D, and Crawdaunt can easily OHKO it.

**Entry Hazards**: Entry hazards break Polteageist's Focus Sash on entry, making it harder to set up, while Sticky Web prevents it from outspeeding common speed control Pokemon it otherwise would, like Choice Scarf Zarude, Barraskewda, and Choice Scarf Krookodile.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Polteageist can boost past Chansey and overwhelm it, but other special walls like Umbreon, Celesteela, and Assault Vest Tangrowth can easily check it. However, Psychic Terrain lets Polteageist muscle past Celesteela after two Shell Smash boosts.

Accidentally wrote this in paragraph form instead of bullets -- just changed it to the correct form. Because of that, there's probably more transitional phrases / introductory sentences than normal -- let me know if you want me to change this before the first QC. I have the paragraph-ed version saved locally on my computer, so I don't mind mangling this one a little bit more. Otherwise, should be ready for QC!

[OVERVIEW]
- As one of UU's few viable Ghost-type pokemon, wordy Polteageist carves out a niche for itself as a late-game sweeper. why? e.g needs common pokemon like steela, zarude, and gmolt either weakened or gone due to their typing and others like sciz and lycan-d gone due to priority unless psy terrain
- While it doesn't quite match the raw, unboosted power that Ghost-types like Chandelure and Aegislash can offer, its access to Shell Smash and powerful coverage options like Giga Drain and Stored Power make it a threatening set-up sweeper that can easily OHKO much of the tier.
- That said, Polteageist's frail defensive stats and middling Speed tier means it needs significant team support to truly be a consistent threat -- and while the Shell Smash set is dangerous, it's also Polteageist's only viable use in the tier, making it more predictable than versatile sweepers like Dragon Dance Salamence, Mew, or Celesteela. u can tell if cele is auto by HO teams, kommo-o is a better fit here
- Additionally, Polteageist struggles to break through common UU threats like Zarude, Grimmsnarl, and Moltres-Galar.
- The potential upside of using Polteageist is huge, but its weakness to hazards and priority alongside its inability to break through several common metagame threats can easily hamper its success.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
- As a set-up sweeper, Polteageist's only concern is maximizing its damage potential and ability to outspeed the tier.
- Running a Timid nature allows you Polteageist the pokemon outspeeds, not the player to outspeed common scarfers like Jirachi, Keldeo Krookodile, and Zarude, as well as other setup sweepers like +2 Celesteela and Modest Venusaur under sun.
- Shell Smash is crucial to the set, boosting Polteageist's Speed and Special Attack by 2 stages in the same turn and boosting the base power of Stored Power. you can mention this in the Stored Power part and allowing it to easily sweep opposing teams Shadow Ball is Polteageist's best STAB option -- and with very few Pokemon in UU that resist Ghost-type, UU's lack of Ghost-type switch-ins make Shadow Ball extremely spammable, and it deals heavy damage to most of the tier at +2. separate it from the shell smash mention
- Giga Drain serves two purposes -- first of all, it offers important coverage against threats like Krookodile and Seismitoad, and secondly, it allows Polteageist to recover HP and take advantage of targets hit neutrally by its other moves, like Seismitoad and Rotom-W, allowing it to eliminate hazard and chip damage and restore the usefulness of a nullified Focus Sash.
- Finally, Stored Power takes advantage of the 6 boosts from Shell Smash, delivering a powerful 140 BP coverage option that gets stronger with subsequent Weak Armor procs and Shell Smashes. too risky to setup again, you need very specific conditions imo mention it's crucial for bulletproof kommo-o, otherwise you're walled
- Weak Armor is used to take advantage of Polteageist's lowered Defense after a Shell Smash to allow it to boost its Speed one more time and outspeed Pokemon like Timid Venusaur under sun and +2 Nihilego.

Reorder this part. follow this sequence:
-Shell Smash
-Shadow Ball
-Stored Power
-Giga Drain
-Explain ability, EVs, and nature

Paragraph 2
- Polteageist requires several things to optimize its chances to sweep.
- The most important of these is Psychic Terrain -- not only does it eliminate Polteageist's weakness to nullifies common priority moves like Bullet Punch, Sucker Punch, and Ice Shard, that would revenge kill Polteageist it also boosts the power of Stored Power.
- As such, Indeedee-F is a perfect partner -- beyond setting up the all-important it sets up Psychic Terrain on switch-in, it also can help lure in and weaken threats like Zarude and offer last-ditch support with Healing Wish. group this sentence with the last one
- Polteageist also appreciates entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Salamence, Rotom-W, or Moltres -- this allows it to retain its sash Focus Sash and guarantee a Shell Smash.
- Finally, stacking other offensive threats that can lure in or weaken checks like Zarude and Moltres-Galar can help overwhelm the opponent and clear a way for Polteageist to clean up late-game. what are those teammates? mention nihilego, thundy-t, and celesteela
- add mew and krookodile as partners that can set hazards, the former spikes and the latter rocks

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
- White Herb can be used in lieu place of Focus Sash to restore the reduced defenses from Shell Smash, but Polteageist's frail defensive stats prevent it from taking most hits anyway.
- White Herb can be used with Light Screen / Reflect support instead of Psychic Terrain, but it's usually worse as an overall strategy. add this to the first sentence, no need to separate them
- Using Cursed Body instead of Weak Armor can make Polteageist a little less priority-weak and potentially nab some lucky disables, but missing out on the additional speed boost and Stored Power boosts makes this less than ideal. not worth it imo
- Sucker Punch can be run for teams not using Psychic Terrain as a way to surprise kill weakened priority users, but its use is very situational and missing out on other coverage outweighs the benefits. doesn't seem good either imo

- While Polteageist looks like it has the offensive stats to support a Choice Specs or Choice Scarf set, these options are outclassed by other Pokemon like Chandelure and Aegislash.
- Finally, while Polteageist has access to several powerful defensive and utility moves like Strength Sap, Will-o-Wisp, Reflect, and Light Screen, its paper-thin defenses and underwhelming unboosted speed prevent it from being able to survive long enough to click these moves. i'd mention strength sap could be useful to get back to full HP and try to get more stored power boosts from weak armor, and will-o-wisp can cripple zarude if its not weakened enough, helping a teammate like celesteela and thundy setup, but say it prefers to use giga drain to get a guaranteed kill on krookodile so these aren't very worth it

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types** : Zarude, Moltres-Galar, Grimmsnarl, Obstagoon, Umbreon and Incineroar can all stomach a boosted Shadow Ball with ease, and immunity to Stored Power means they need to be weakened significantly before Polteageist can break through them. I'd mention the first two can take advantage to set up

**Priority**: Without Psychic Terrain support, Polteageist is extremely weak vulnerable to priority. While it's immune to Mach Punch, Quick Attack, and Vacuum Wave, very rare moves, the only one used is QA by sciz which can just BP and who even is Conkeldurr defense drops from Weak Armor and Shell Smash combined with its poor defensive stats means that common priority users like Scizor and Crawdaunt can easily OHKO it.

**Entry Hazards**: Polteageist is susceptible to all entry hazards -- Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes all which break Polteageist's Focus Sash on entry, making it harder to set up, while Sticky Web reduces its speed and prevents it from outspeeding common speed control Pokemon.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: While Polteageist can boost past walls like Chansey and overwhelm them, needing to Shell Smash multiple times opens you it up to being crippled by status or killed and KOed by moves like Celesteela's Heavy Slam or and AV Tangrowth's Knock Off.

Some notes (the GPer in me can't help it, but this also makes QC job easier and helps you improve your writing in general!)

- You make sentences way too wordy. An example is: "Giga Drain serves two purposes -- first of all" you can just say what Giga Drain does, since writing like this makes the sentence tiring to read and unnecessarily long. Another example: "As such, Indeedee-F is a perfect partner -- beyond setting up the all-important Psychic Terrain." The middle part isn't needed. "As such, Indeedee-F is a perfect partner, as it automatically sets up Psychic Terrain." See how it's easier to read? It goes straight to the point and tells the reader what it needs to know right off the bat. Last example: "While it doesn't quite match the raw, unboosted power that Ghost-types like Chandelure and Aegislash can offer" you can just write "While Polteageist has less immediate power than other Ghost-types like Chandelure and Aegislash, (...)" It may seem we didn't change much, but when comparing the sentences with same color, this is even more straight to the point and helps when reading.

- When referring to galarian/alolan forms, it's Galarian Moltres, not Moltres-Galar.

- Don't use "kill", the right words are KOed and variations of it

- Additionally, Polteageist struggles to break through common UU threats like Zarude, Grimmsnarl, and Galarian Moltres id tweak the wording here since grimm isn't rly a threat, can just be a more general point about dark types not named krook.
- The potential upside of using Polteageist is huge, but its weakness to hazards and priority alongside its inability to break through several common metagame threats can easily hamper its success.

for the overview it's generally easier to go through when it's pros -> cons so id restructure accordingly but the info is fine. def expand on the pros though

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
- Shell Smash is crucial to the set, boosting Polteageist's Speed and Special Attack by two stages in the same turn.
- Very few Pokemon in UU resist Ghost-type, so Shadow Ball deals heavy damage to most of the tier at +2.
- Stored Power takes advantage of the 6 boosts from Shell Smash, delivering a powerful 140 BP coverage option that gets stronger with subsequent Weak Armor procs and Shell Smashes.
this point is a bit less filler-ish than the other two but should be more about weak armor > cursed body (tho u mention this later anyway)

- Giga Drain offers important coverage against threats like Krookodile and allows Polteageist to recover HP, eliminating hazard and chip damage and restoring the usefulness of a nullified Focus Sash.
- Running a Timid nature allows Polteageist to outspeed common scarfers like Jirachi, Krookodile, and Zarude, as well as other setup sweepers like +2 Celesteela and Modest Venusaur under sun.
- Weak Armor further boosts Polteageist's speed past threats like Timid Venusaur in Sun and Adamant Barraskewda in Rain, and powers up Stored Power.

Paragraph 2
- Psychic Terrain nullifies Polteageist's weakness to common priority moves like Bullet Punch, Sucker Punch, and Ice Shard that would otherwise revenge KO it -- as an added bonus, it also boosts the power of Stored Power. As such, Indeedee-F is a perfect partner -- it sets up Psychic Terrain on switch-in, it also can help lure in and weaken threats like Zarude and offer last-ditch support with Healing Wish.
- Polteageist also appreciates entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Salamence, Rotom-W, or Moltres -- this allows it to retain its Focus Sash and guarantee a Shell Smash.
- Finally, stacking other offensive threats like Krookodile and Necrozma i think there are better examples to use rly can lure in or weaken checks like Zarude and Galarian Moltres can help overwhelm the opponent and clear a way for Polteageist to clean up late-game.
- Hazard setters like Mew and Krookodile can help weaken enemy Pokemon to make sweeping easier.
mention screens and maybe a spikes ho playstyle, these are both less niche than psychic terrain which should not be the main focus
add smth on how/who can help polteageist get a setup opportunity

- White Herb can be used in place of Focus Sash to restore the reduced defenses from Shell Smash, but Polteageist's frail defensive stats prevent it from taking most hits anyway. Using White Herb can go hand in hand with Light Screen / Reflect support instead of Psychic Terrain, but it's usually worse as an overall strategy.
- Sucker Punch can be run for teams not using Psychic Terrain as a way to surprise KO weakened priority users, but its use is very situational and missing out on other coverage outweighs the benefits.
- Hyper Beam can be run as a nuke to OHKO Zarude and Krookodile over Giga Drain, but it's situational and leaves Polteageist open to being set up on.

**Dark-types** : Zarude, Galarian Moltres, Grimmsnarl, Obstagoon, Umbreon and Incineroar you don't have to name all the dark-types, just a couple is fine. can all stomach a boosted Shadow Ball with ease, and immunity to Stored Power means they need to be weakened significantly before Polteageist can break through them. Additionally, Bulk Up Zarude and Galarian Moltres can use Polteageist to set up on.

**Priority**: Without Psychic Terrain support, Polteageist is extremely vulnerable to priority. While it's immune to Conkeldurr's Mach Punch and Scizor's Quick Attack, defense drops from Weak Armor and Shell Smash combined with its poor defensive stats means that common priority users like Scizor and Crawdaunt can easily OHKO it. mention lycanroc

**Entry Hazards**: All entry hazards break Polteageist's Focus Sash on entry, making it harder to set up, while Sticky Web reduces its speed and prevents it from outspeeding common speed control Pokemon.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: While Polteageist can boost past walls like Chansey and overwhelm them, needing to Shell Smash multiple times opens it up to being crippled by status or KOed by moves like Celesteela's Heavy Slam and AV Tangrowth's Knock Off. i think this should be rephrased since chansey is the only one it can rly boost again on, and even then it dies to tox. steela and tang arent terribly hard to wear down at least. i think this is a better umbreon mention spot than with the other darks too.

- Polteageist's frail defensive stats and middling Speed tier means it needs significant team support to truly be a consistent threat idk that its speed tier really matters too much here? It outspeeds basically everything except weather mons after a smash, and getting a slower shell smash can actually be beneficial not negative. -- and while the Shell Smash set is dangerous, it's also Polteageist's only viable use in the tier, making it more predictable than versatile sweepers like Salamence, Mew, or Kommo-o. Well I wouldn't say that salamence is exactly a versatile sweeper as its only DD, and its usually obvious that its DD on a HO team. Something like Necrozma seems a more suitable example? since it can go offensive rocks, autotomize meteor beam, dd etc.
- Additionally, Polteageist struggles to break through Dark-type Pokemon like Zarude, Grimmsnarl, and Galarian Moltres.
- The potential upside of using Polteageist is huge, but its weakness to hazards and priority alongside its inability to break through several common metagame threats can easily hamper its success. Maybe comment on how the priority weakness means it tends to fit best on Psyterrain stuff, which naturally limits the number of teams you are putting on, and faces a lot of competition from other aforementioned sweepers on stuff like screens.

Paragraph 1

- Stored Power takes advantage of Shell Smash and Weak Armor boosts to provide powerful coverage.
- Giga Drain offers important coverage against threats like Krookodile and allows Polteageist to recover HP, eliminating hazard and chip damage and restoring the usefulness of a nullified Focus Sash.
- Weak Armor further boosts Polteageist's speed past threats like Timid Venusaur in Sun and Adamant Barraskewda in Rain, and powers up Stored Power.

Paragraph 2
- Psychic Terrain nullifies Polteageist's weakness to common priority moves like Bullet Punch, Sucker Punch, and Ice Shard that would otherwise revenge KO it any examples here for these would be nice imo. -- as an added bonus, it also boosts the power of Stored Power. an example or two of the boosted power here could be cool, eg. letting you OHKO bulky salamence, which otherwise easily kills you with DWB because of weak armor + the defense drop. As such, Indeedee-F is a perfect partner -- it sets up Psychic Terrain on switch-in, it also can help lure in and weaken threats like Zarude and offer last-ditch support with Healing Wish.
- I'd like to see a few mentions of other threats you can run specifically on Psyterrain , eg. Necrozma that can help wear down Dark-types for you, and Nihilego.
- Polteageist also appreciates entry hazard removal from Pokemon like Salamence, Rotom-W, or Moltres -- this allows it to retain its Focus Sash and guarantee a Shell Smash. Not really a fan of this mention? Like you are only really running Polteageist on HO.
- Finally, stacking other offensive threats like Gyarados, Nasty Plot Mew and Kommo-o can lure in or weaken checks like Zarude and Galarian Moltres can help overwhelm the opponent and clear a way for Polteageist to clean up late-game.

- Hazard setters like Mew and Krookodile can help weaken enemy Pokemon to make sweeping easier.
- Screens support from setters like Grimmsnarl and Alolan Ninetales can help Polteageist boost without fear of being OHKOd. I feel like i wouldn't really consider doing tea with snowtales personally cause of the hail. while its unlikely to actually matter in 99% of scenarios, why risk that 1% of scenarios when grimm works fiine for tea tbh.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
- White Herb can be used in place of Focus Sash to restore the reduced defenses from Shell Smash. This fits best on teams with screens support, whereas Focus Sash should always be used with Psychic Terrain. can mention how this can make you safer versus stuff like scizor when used.
- Hyper Beam can be run as a nuke to OHKO Zarude and Krookodile over Giga Drain, but it's situational and leaves Polteageist open to being set up on. technically only like a 94% chance to OHKO zarude so maybe say "nearly always" just to be completely specific here. I'd mention here how this should only really be considered if you have a partner that really appreciates zarude being nuked, and give like 1-2 examples of things that would appreciate this, eg. Azu, SD Lycan.

(I also feel like this point sort of suggests you lure krook when it wouldn't usually try to actually check tea either way, so i'd word it more to say that you retain the ability to hit krookodile still)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types** : Pokemon like Zarude, Galarian Moltres and Grimmsnarl can all stomach a boosted Shadow Ball with ease, and immunity to Stored Power means they need to be weakened significantly before Polteageist can break through them. Additionally, Bulk Up Zarude and Galarian Moltres can use Polteageist to set up on. it can but we dont have a bulk up zarude set atm, and it will incur significant chip damage trying to do this since +2 shadow ball does like 40% to zarude and you either have to synth spam and risk sball drops or accept some significant chip, since spamming jungle healing will underheal.

**Priority**: Without Psychic Terrain support, Polteageist is extremely vulnerable to priority. Defense drops from Weak Armor and Shell Smash combined with its poor defensive stats means that common priority users like Scizor, Lycanroc-Dusk and Crawdaunt can easily OHKO it.

**Entry Hazards**: All entry hazards break Polteageist's Focus Sash on entry, making it harder to set up, while Sticky Web reduces its speed and prevents it from outspeeding common speed control Pokemon. Would give some examples here, preferably work out what speed tier it hits and mention the lowest speed commonstuff that now outspeeds it under webs.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Polteageist can boost past Chansey and overwhelm it, but other special walls like Umbreon, Celesteela, and AV Tangrowth can easily check it. Might want to comment that when facing terrain tea tangrowth relies on being at relatively high hp to actually do this, since tangrowth takes like 73-86 from SP under terrain, while celesteela needs sash broken because otherwise tea smashes again after you hard into it, and OHKOs u with a +4 SP under terrain.

+4 252 SpA Polteageist Stored Power (260 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela in Psychic Terrain: 402-473 (101 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
QC 2/3 when implemented.

Additionally, Polteageist struggles to break through Dark-type Pokemon like Zarude, Grimmsnarl, and Galarian Moltres. The potential upside of using Polteageist is huge, but its weakness to hazards and priority alongside its inability to break through several common metagame threats can easily hamper its success. Polteageist works best with Psychic Terrain support to neutralize its weakness to priority, and while it can succeed with Light Screen/Reflect support, there are several other consistent set-up sweepers that are often easier to justify maybe just say "because they can require less support" at the end to clarify.

Additionally, Galarian Moltres can use Polteageist as setup fodder.

**Priority Moves**: Without Psychic Terrain support, Polteageist is extremely vulnerable to priority. Defense drops from Weak Armor and Shell Smash combined with its poor defensive stats means that common priority users like Scizor, Lycanroc-D, (AC) and Crawdaunt can easily OHKO it.

However, Polteageist's frail defensive stats means it needs significant team support to truly be a consistent threat; and while it's a powerful sweeper, it's still a predictable one due to having only one viable set, unlike other setup sweepers such as Necrozma, Mew, or and Kommo-o. Polteageist works best with Psychic Terrain support to neutralize its weakness to priority, and while it can succeed with dual screen screens support, there are several other setup sweepers that require less support and are easier to justify.

[SET COMMENTS]
Stored Power takes advantage of Shell Smash and Weak Armor boosts to boost its Base Power (Capitalize), and it provides powerful coverage.

It also boosts Stored Power, allowing Polteageist to OHKO mons Pokemon like bulky Salamence that would otherwise tank a hit and OHKO it in return. Stacking other offensive threats like Gyarados, Nasty Plot Mew, (AC) and Kommo-o to weaken checks like Zarude and Galarian Moltres can help overwhelm the opponent and clear a way for Polteageist to clean up late-game.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Implemented, thanks for the check! My bad about the credits section -- I knew in the back of my mind I'd forgotten it for one of them but never followed through.
