[OVERVIEW]
Porygon2 is one of the most reliable choices for a Trick Room setter in the current metagame. Its one weakness to Fighting-type moves is very easy to account for, and its reliance on Eviolite means it almost never competes with teammates for a specific item slot. Its vast movepool makes it extremely customizable from team to team, ranging from a BoltBeam coverage user to a dedicated Calyrex-S check with Shadow Ball. If given a Special Attack boost from Download, its offensive capabilities are also quite respectable. Unfortunately, due to the high damage output in a format with threats such as Kyogre and Zacian-C, Porygon2 may sometimes be overwhelmed by strong foes before it can set Trick Room. It's also reliant on boosts for its offensive presence, meaning that without them the opponent can simply just ignore Porygon2's slot until its the last Pokemon remaining.
[SET]

move 2: Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt / Eerie Impulse
move 3: Recover
move 4: Trick Room
item: Eviolite
ability: Download
nature: Sassy
evs: 244 HP / 52 Def / 212 SpD
ivs: 0 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
* Ice Beam is effective for hitting the likes of Rillaboom, Landorus-T, and Zapdos for strong super effective damage, while Tri Attack provides a more consistent attack across the board, as well as an increased chance to inflict status.
* Shadow Ball allows Porygon2 to significantly damage common Psychic-types in the metagame such as Calyrex-S and Solgaleo. Thunderbolt is Porygon2's best option for targeting Kyogre, while Eerie Impulse lets it cripple special attackers.
* Recover is very important for keeping Porygon2 healthy over the course of a game and can be used repeatedly to stall out the foe's Dynamax.
* Trick Room is Porygon2's most consistent form of speed control. Thanks to its high bulk and one weakness, it's very difficult to deny Porygon2 from setting it up.
* The EV spread along with a Sassy nature allows Porygon2 to survive two Water Spouts from Choice Scarf Timid Kyogre in addition to two Sacred Swords from Assault Vest Kartana variants.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Icy Wind can be used to deal incremental chip damage to foes while also serving as an alternative form of speed control. Foul Play is an option for dealing consistent damage to the likes of Solgaleo and Necrozma-DM. An offensive Dynamaxed mixed attacking set with Giga Impact is excellent for catching the opponent off guard while making the most of either Download boost. While Download is preferred as the boost to Porygon2's Special Attack significantly increases its offensive presence in and out of Trick Room, Analytic can be used on faster teams where Trick Room isn't used as often.
