Hello,
This is the team that helped me defeat an individual that I have a personal vendetta against.
Introduction:
With this team I have tried to imporve on an old method that I had been using. I use Dragonite, with his anti-lead abilities, to establish an early advantage. I then move on to try to lay down some entry hazards with my defensive members (Swampert and Foretress). From here I just try to cover some of the pokemon that counter what I need to use to set up. Ideally, with some acurate prediction and the use of the move Roar, I keep the opponent taking damage and dealing with some pokemon that tend to be a bit difficult to take out.
Threat list:
Breloom can be somewhat of a problem with this team. He could easily switch in on Swampert and set up. Dragonite and Rotom-C are probably my best option against this guy (especially if he is a lead); however, he is definitely still a threat against most of my team.
Salamence has beena pretty consistent threat. The Stealth rocks can usually help weaken him down to a point where Scizor, Swampert, or Heatran (using Dragon Pulse) can take him out. When he comes in late game and packs Earthquake, he can be a real problem.
Latias seems to always make it onto my threat list. I think its mainly due to my lack of faster ShadowBall and Ice Beam user that this Pokemon can usually force an unpleasant switch on me. Heatran (using Dragon Pulse after Stealth Rock damage) or Scizor can usually help against this, but it often depends on what sort of moves that my opponent puts on Latias.
Magnezone is mainly just a massive problem against my Scizor. Scizor is of the Choice Band variety, so Magnezone easily comes in after he uses a Bullet Punch and traps him with Magnet Pull. Perhaps this is reason enough to switch over to a Swords Dance Scizor? Any thoughts?
When Bronzong is the lead facing my Dragonite, My options are limited. My Fire Blast is simply not enough to put him to bed, and Bronzong will usually just set up and use Explosion. Switching in Heatran is an option, but it gives away a vital surprise and will probably just force a switch.
Smeargle will usually take one Extremespeed from Dragonite before dropping his infamous Spore. I really dont have a great option for absorbing that status, so it really becomes an annoying situation.
Starmie is a lower threat, but it is still a factor. I have Rotom-C, but Starmie will usually inflict some real damage before I can put it to bed.
(Thanks to stove for pointing out this threat) When Tyranitar is packing a Choice Scarf, he can be a problem to my team. My only real option against him now is Scizor's bullet punch. However, this would probably just force a switch and play in my opponent's favor).
Please be on the lookout for any threats that I have not mentioned.
Detailed Information:
Dragonite @Life orb
Quiet/ Inner Focus
EVs- ATK:252 SpAtk:252 Speed:4
Moveset:
Extremespeed
Fire Blast
Earthquake
Draco Meteor
This guy serves as a counter to many of the common leads in OU (Aerodactyl, Azelf, Crobat, Yanmega). He will usually take advantage of a user of Stealth Rocks/Taunt to lay down a Draco Meteor, and tehn he cleans up with extremespeed. He is also able to come in after the entry hazards on my team have done some damage and knock out some threats.
Scizor @Choice Band
Adamant/ Technician
EVs- ATK:252 HP:248 Speed:8
Moveset:
Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Superpower
Pursuit
Scizor is mainly here to deal with many of Dragonite's counters (Weavile, StealthRock damaged Salamence, Rotom-A). His bullet punch also serves as a great way to take down some fragile/speedy sweepers that threaten my team (Gengar, Starmie, Jolteon, Latias). His U-Turn allows for switching in a counter without taking any damage and forcing switches that cause my opponent to take more damage from entry hazards. His weakness to Magnezone is a big problem, and he is really not bulky enough to take on many switch-ins.
Foretress @Leftovers
Impish/ Sturdy
EVs- HP:252 ATK:44 Sdef:212
Moveset:
Spikes
Payback
Toxic Spikes
Rapid Spin
This is my main way of laying down entry hazards. Because of teh investment in Special Defense, I am able to switch in to many of Foretress's resistances and lay down some spikes or toxic spikes. Payback is mainly there to help me cover my problems with Starmie and Latias. If eitehr one attempts to switch in they will take some considerable damage (especially if I switch in to a Latias that is locked into Dragon Pulse with Specs). Explosion was an option that I considered because his abilty to do any real damage is limited, but I found that having a Spinner to get rid of Stealth Rocks was too important to my ability to bring back Dragonite.
Rotom-C @Leftovers
Bold/ Levitate
EVs HP:252 DEF:168 Speed:88
Moveset:
Leafstorm
Thunderbolt
Will-o-Wisp
Shadowball
One small benefit that this pokemon brings to the table is being a Spin-blocker since I have such a focus on Stealth Rocks and Toxic Spikes. He also serves as a surprisingly bulky counter to threats such as Gyarados, Gliscor, Swampert, Starmie, and Togekiss. Many of these will switch into a common counter to Rotom-A (Tyranitar, Lucario, Scizor) only to receive a crippling Will-o-wisp. His special attack is a bit on the dismal side, so I wonder if Charge Beam or Discharge might be better tahn T-bolt.
Swampert @Leftovers
Relaxed/ Torrent
EVs- HP:252 ATK:4 DEF:252
Moveset:
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Stealth Rocks
Roar
Swampert is my main way of countering physical attackers that would otherwise hurt my team (Infernape, Lucario, Gliscor, Salamence, Scizor). His Roar also allows me to break the set up of many Stat-boosting pokemon (Suicune, Gyarados, Metagross) and users of Substitute. The shuffling around also helps with speading poison and rock damage. Swampert is completely open to assault by Breloom, so I need to make sure my team is ready for that.
Heatran @Choice Scarf
Naive/Flash Fire
EVs-Speed:252 SPATK:252 ATK:4
Moveset:
Fire Blast
Earth Power
Explosion
Dragon Pulse
Heatran is a nice switch-in when my opponent tries to destroy Scizor with a Fire move or if I predict a Will-o-Wisp. He can also switch in on many of Dragonite's Dragon-type weaknesses and retaliate with a Dragon Pulse. The explosion is there as a last ditch assault against a Latias or Blissey that simply wont go down. My main problem with Heatran is keeping him hidden until his Flash Fire abilty can be secretly forced on my opponent. He also has some trouble against other Heatran since I need to be able to know what I'm dealing with before attempting an Earth Power.
Thanks for any helpful input!
