Post-OMPL thread

Approved by The Immortal

This thread will serve multiple purposes.

First of all, it will serve as a place for anyone who played in OMPL to post sets they used. I understand that some of you (looking at you aesf) have already posted OMPL-related materials in the team dump thread, which is perfectly fine, but this will serve as a more centralized area to do so and discuss the sets. Normally, in threads like these, the creator tags every single player, but I think that would be too obnoxious so I'm sticking this.

Second of all, I catalogged the records of each player. Discussion of those and any other stuff related to the conclusion of OMPL can go here as well, if the mods don't mind.

Happy posting!

Swords Dance Haxorus:
Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab

This Haxorus set is a fairly simple set I used in tier shift to snag the fastest match in the entire tour (was faster than the mono Dragon vs mono Dragon match surprisingly). It is really cool because of its ability to dominate fatter teams, due to Swords Dance + Mold Breaker + base 152 attack. Lum Berry gives it an easier time setting up on Alomomola, Tangela that switch-in, Gastrodon, Suicune, etc. When this thing gets up an SD, the only mons in the tier that avoid a two hit ko 100% of the time are Skarmory, really physdef Mega Scizor / Gligar, Mega Slowbro, and Dusclops (to my knowledge). Gligar and Dusclops can be handled with a knock off lure, which makes stuff like Knock Off Lando and Marowak great teammates. Haxorus also has a cool speed tier outspeeding Garchomp by one base point. You could run Low Kick > PJab, but u struggle with fairies more.

One small yeet for man, one giant yeet for mankind
Reserving for AAA teams I used, as well as some TS teams PhD used, and maybe some other teams I built but didn't use.

Ok here we go, I'll probably just edit more on little my little. This is the worst way to farm likes

Week 1 (Rozes): HO to CT HO http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/almostanyability-390506175

This team didn't have a whole lot of thought to it. I just noticed Rozes always used HO, and his variant of HO is extremely weak to HO. Scarf Heracross pretty much auto won, Scarf Kyurem pretty much auto won, Honchcrow pretty much auto won, Lucario pretty much auto won. http://pastebin.com/GJE2tG71

Week 3 (Sabella): Virizion/Klang Balance http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/almostanyability-396650907

I'm actually super proud of this team. I just wanted to build around some memes, and Virizion plus Klang fit the bill. The team featuring magnet pull heatran actually turned out terrific, everything blended perfectly. Klinklang ended up winning which was cool http://pastebin.com/dFc7EY7F

hi why am i losing one of those was an activity win (normally not counted in player records) and was essentially sustained by qsns even though eg subbed me in at the last minute after I told him not to. even the weekly record doesn't say i was subbed in. it has no impact but it's still not very nice :c

anyway can't be too happy with my record thanks to hax fucking up some games that i might've actually won (undefeated donno :pirate:) but here's at least one thing that's fun other than wobb lati meme teams
716.png

Xerneas @ Choice Specs
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power Fire
- Focus Blast / Thunder
- Psyshock

AG is severely lacking in permanent xern checks with teams using priority spam and maybe slapping on one poisonceus for it a lot of the time. Obviously there's good teams with Ho-Oh or Pdon+Skarmory or whatever but you'd be surprised (unless you've actually seen how dumb the ladder is) how many teams have just Pdon, or even just priority to take on Xern. It's fairly easy to get in, especially on passive mons like Giratina-bulky form, and then click moonblast. Even SpDef Pdon only switches in once before it's in 2hko range. Basically if they don't have Blissey or Chansey it's gonna put in a shit ton of work while not being as prepared for/taking up a mega slot like CB Ray does, which is the closest equivalent to this. I also used wobbuffet, latios, and mmy but none of those really deserve a spotlight like this.

Team Dump post, may write more about them later, but just gonna post them
Edit: Added descriptions and stuff
Aerodactyl @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Brave Bird
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake

Literally can 2HKO everything in the tier bar MegaBro and Hippowdon. Outspeeds up to 358 speed (positive base 113). Enough said.

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Psystrike
- Fire Blast
- Slack Off

One half of the defensive core, handles Mlop and most other standard physical attackers despite investment. Max SpDef lets it switch into Specs Keldeo Water Spout and not get 2HKO'd. Fire Blast OHKO's 0 Spdef Ferrothorn 100% of the time post mega.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Download
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Boomburst
- Baton Pass
- Recover
- Heal Bell

Crux of the team and the other half of the defensive core. Try to keep it at high health, pass boosts to the proper recipients and watch the world burn to the ground at the head of a +1 banded Head Smash. Insanely bulky with an eviolite, and can stop any Special Attacker except for Keldeo and a Serperior that hasn't Spore'd yet. Heal Bell clears nasty burns, toxics, and paralysis off of Aero and Slowbro.

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psystrike
- Surf
- Lunar Dance

Really there since Lunar Dance is a nice utility to have, and the team needed some kind of special attacker to pass the boosts into. These next 3 pokemon are the most expendable, and should be the first ones when considering who to let go

Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 236 HP / 192 Atk / 24 Def / 56 Spe
Lax Nature
- Final Gambit
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Close Combat

This is the counter to every physical wall in the tier. On Landot: Put the rocks up as it switches in (and in 80% of the cases they will, since hp ice is doing nothing really anyways), the Gambit to OHKO 100%. If its already in, and they dont have a ferro on the team, just Gambit. If its scarf then it doesn't even matter if Coba dies since Scarf can't actually switch into Aero more than once. Same goes for Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Slowbro (if you really don't think you can hit your Head Smashes). Garchomp is a little more difficult, as it can outspeed, but as soon as you know that its fat, Gambit it. Can also check Fakespeed other than Mlop well.

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Super Luck
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Defog
- Thunder Wave
- Oblivion Wing

It switches into Landot and Garchomp, and can Defog away rocks. Despite the short text, this is extremely important since whittle damage is the best way most teams can beat Aero.

Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Focus Blast
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

It sets the ain, not much more to add to that. Defensive evs for Landot switchins, rest for longevity. Steam Eruption into Focus Blast always kills 0/0 TTar in Sand, and can kill other variants as well.

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Secret Sword
- Water Spout
- Icy Wind

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn in Rain: 208-246 (59 - 69.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Stealth Rock
- Aromatherapy
- Gyro Ball

Rain really helps for beating HP fire stuff, and Ferro is an otherwise premier wall. King's Shield without Leech Seed is what I wasn't sure about with the set, and if you would add seeds for the recovery you would most likely want to drop Aroma. Aroma does really help with Rotom wisps and Keldeo Steam Eruption burns, two common moves from common pokemon that really beat this team down; It also combos nicely with rest.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Great for pivoting into Keldeo, and is basically free on Landot and Heatran.

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 96 HP / 244 Atk / 4 Def / 164 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Crabhammer
- Swords Dance
- Superpower

The stallbreaker on the team, as well as the main form of speed control. Given EVs allow it to outspeed Scarf Terrak in the rain, which we thought may be brought due to use bringing Aero in every week leading up to this one. Swords Dance lets us OHKO fully defensive Ferro with Superpower, which you can set up as they King's Shield

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

The only "switchin" the team has for Sylveon AND Thundurus, which looking back, was a very bad idea. It does trap Ferrothorn, and while it can't OHKO it, it will die before you do.

I'm sorry I don't want to go in depth on this team, it's really just brainless offense + LandotFerro. The moral of the story is that SylvKeld hits so hard in combination that you don't need to play well to win your game (Josh). I wanted Pursuit on Weavile to ACTUALLY trap Slowking and stuff, but my team told me it was fine and that the threat of trapping it was enough. Jolteon also basically auto wins once you can take out any sound move users, dedicated special walls, and bulky Espeeders.

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Secret Sword
- Vacuum Wave
- Water Spout

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Low Kick

STABmons Jolt (Jolteon) @ Icicle Plate
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Electrify
- Judgment
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
IVs: 30 Spe
- Precipice Blades
- Roost
- U-turn
- Defog

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Power Whip
- Synthesis
- Spore

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Boomburst
- Recover

Basically the same team as the first one, except Fire Fang over Ice Fang to 2HKO Ferro on the switch even after KS. Sylveon is there as a secondary special "wall" and general good pass target, and we wanted it since we really thought fissure was going to bring Jolteon. Mega-Venusuar can basically wall the tier outside of storng Flying type move users (Defensive Landot, you don't beat this) and Spore provides amazing synergy with +1 Head Smash. Seed Flare over Giga Drain since Spdef drop into HP Fire 2HKOs OU standard Ferro.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Download
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Boomburst
- Baton Pass
- Recover

Aerodactyl @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Brave Bird
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpA
Brave Nature
- Boomburst
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Recover

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 96 Def / 144 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Spore
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe

I built all of Josh's teams because he is lazy

Azumarill @ Leftovers
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Water Shuriken
- Play Rough

SD Azu is very cool and not seen very often. I went Lefties for some extra survivability. Turns out Lum Berry would've been better in the game because of Steam Eruption, haha!

Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Mach Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch

I like Mega Medicham; it is very strong. Mach Punch is pretty handy (and very strong e.g. 252+ Atk Pure Power Mega Medicham Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Lopunny: 252-296 (92.9 - 109.2%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO, 252+ Atk Pure Power Mega Medicham Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 84-100 (27 - 32.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO, 252+ Atk Pure Power Mega Medicham Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Keldeo: 130-154 (40.2 - 47.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO) although Bullet Punch is usable for Diancie. Thunder Punch puts a reasonable dent in Slowbro (252+ Atk Pure Power Mega Medicham Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Slowbro: 204-242 (51.7 - 61.4%) -- 96.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery, 252+ Atk Pure Power Mega Medicham Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 80+ Def Mega Slowbro: 156-184 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO) and also hits random Jellicent.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Lunar Dance

SpD Rachi takes hits from Lati@s consistently and can flinch slower FakeSpeeders, and Lunar Dance is obviously very helpful

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Diamond Storm
- Precipice Blades
- Ice Punch

DD Mega Tyranitar is actually really scary. I went with basic Rock / Ground / Ice here but Fire Punch, Crunch, Superpower, and Sucker Punch are also great options. It's fat and strong and can set up on a surprising amount of the metagame

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Nasty Plot
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Recover

I don't even know what this is or what it's meant to be lmao

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Snatch

Just in case the above set hasn't convinced you of my insanity.
