UU Pseudo Analysis: Durant [QC: 2/2] [GP: 1/1]

QC: martha and Hilomilo
GP: The Dutch Plumberjack
Finished!

[OVERVIEW]

Unfortunately, Durant is not a viable pick in the UnderUsed metagame. Despite having a great defensive typing, Durant's Special Defense is very poor, and its awkward Speed tier that leaves it outsped by Latias and Gengar means that it will rarely ever get the chance to set up and sweep. Durant also suffers from massive competition with Scizor, which is far more versatile due to having sets like Choice Band, Swords Dance, and Defog and also has a decent amount of Special Defense that allows it to check threats like Nihilego and Latias that Durant is unable to. While Hustle makes Durant very powerful, it's less consistent than Scizor's Technician, making the latter the more reliable option overall.

[SET]

name: Hone Claws
move 1: Hone Claws
move 2: Iron Head
move 3: Superpower
move 4: X-Scissor / Crunch
item: Fightinium Z
ability: Hustle
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is the closest thing to viable for Durant. It aims at using Hone Claws to set up and remove any accuracy issues from Hustle and has All-Out Pummeling to break through Steel-types like Cobalion and Empoleon, while Crunch is also an option over X-Scissor if you need the coverage to beat Gengar or Chandelure. However, this set is completely outclassed by Swords Dance Scizor, which finds far more opportunities to set up and has its Speed issue patched up by priority that's also boosted by its ability.

[OVERVIEW]

Unfortunately, Durant is not a viable pick in the UnderUsed metagame. Despite having a great defensive typing and a unique ability, Durant’s defenses itself are very poor and it’s fragility means it will very rarely be able to set up. (Make sure it's more clearly referring to special bulk because its physical bulk isn't bad. This makes it a very shaky check to special attackers that Scizor checks) Durant also suffers from massive competition with Scizor. Scizor overall provides far more roles for the team and is self sufficient while Durant must rely on an overwhelming amount of team support in order to get a sweep going. Elaborate on this. What does Scizor offer that Durant doesn't? You can also mention Hustle here and how Durant's power (which is one thing it has over Scizor) isn't really reliable at all. Take out the unique ability line to avoid a contradiction and it's not entirely unique. You can also mention its awkward Speed tier (one point behind Latias/Gengar) too.

This set is the closest thing to viable for Durant. It aims at using Hone Claws to set up and remove any accuracy issues with Hustle and has All Out Pummeling to break through any Steel types while Crunch is also an option over X-Scissor if you need the coverage to beat Ghost types. However, this set is completely outclassed by Swords Dance Scizor who boasts a far superior ability and priority that is strengthened by said ability.

Overview
* 'decent amount of Special Defense that allows it to check the threats that Durant is unable to.' - give some examples here. Nihilego and Latias work.
* Your last line doesn't read super smoothly and could be condensed a bit. Whittling it down to something along the lines of "While Hustle makes Durant very powerful, it's less consistent than Scizor's Technician, making it the more reliable option overall." would be better.

Set Comments
* Give examples of both Steel-types and Ghost-types Superpower and Crunch respectively allow it to break through.

2/2 when this is implemented. Nice work
