Calm Nature

Victreebel @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Weather Ball
- Growth

When I watch the team of this week I cannot see any switch-in Victreebel monstrous attacks. Under sun this Pokémon just sweeps many different Pokémons, and in this case, the entire team. However, some Pokémon is needed to set up the sun itself. I chose Carbink with the setter role because it can set both rocks and sun without hesitating and, afterwords, explote. Moreover, it helps a lot with two Pokémons like Primeape and Oricorio-Pom-Pom that cannot OHKO it. Thus, if Carbink is well played you prepare Victreebel's sweep easily.

However, Mesprit can be really useful too setting both rocks and sun again and helping with Healing Wish. With this you can have two sun setters and something to keep healthy and safe your Victreebel.

I would name the team like:
Who needs some sun?
Oricorio-Pom-Pom
0 SpA Oricorio-Pom-Pom Revelation Dance vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Carbink: 67-81 (22 - 26.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Primeape
252 Atk Primeape Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Carbink: 93-109 (30.5 - 35.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Oricorio-Pom-Pom

And at +0 it is a 2HKO but with high odds of OHKO after Stealth Rocks or some chip damage. If running Poison Z-Move it could be OHKO directly.

Primeape
+2 252+ SpA Life Orb Victreebel Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Primeape: 468-551 (172.6 - 203.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Mudsdale

- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam

This team lacks any defensive counterplay to Simisear whatsoever, as the team's Fire resist of choice - being Jellicent - is unable to take a boosted Grass Knot. This team also suffers from the fact that it provides Simisear with multiple free turns. If the user of this team decides to make an aggressive play and attack Simisear, its access to Gluttony, combined with an Iapapa Berry will render any attempts to limit its breaking capabilities, as Roselia's Sludge Bomb is essentially invalidated as long as it doesn't get poisoned.

If combined with the proper hazard control and a method to reliably remove Primeape, which is the team's only form of reliable counterplay versus this mon, Simisear will honestly just win whenever it has the opportunity to set up. Healing Wish support from the likes of Mesprit and entry hazard support from the likes of Skuntank or Rotom-Frost will also be very beneficial for Simisear, as it allows you to play slightly more aggressively versus this build.

0 SpA Roselia Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Simisear: 141-166 (48.4 - 57%) -- 90.6% chance to 2HKO

+2 252 SpA Simisear Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Roselia: 474-560 (195.8 - 231.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 SpA Simisear Grass Knot (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Jellicent: 344-406 (85.1 - 100.4%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

+2 252 SpA Simisear Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 164 SpD Mudsdale: 410-484 (101.4 - 119.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 SpA Simisear Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Sandslash-Alola: 1168-1380 (329.9 - 389.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 SpA Simisear Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Oricorio-Pom-Pom: 396-466 (112.1 - 132%) -- guaranteed OHKO

edit: since Jmash and yogi pointed out that I needed a core, here's specs jelli, which basically goes ham once roselia and dibsbird has been removed and grants simisear a bit more reliable counterplay versus Primeape.

Here we have a recently accepted sample team made by curiosity! The team gives much support to Swords Dance Dodrio, an absolutely deadly Pokemon if played correctly. Dodrio has many helpful teammates, which includes Skuntank as hazard removal, and checks to Rock- and Steel-types in the form of speedy Jellicent and bulkier-than-usual Gurdurr! Dodrio's ability to blitz through multiple team archetypes allows Togedemaru and Gurdurr to thrive late-game.

This team relies a lot on Scarf Togedemaru to deal with flying type threats. An effective way to break this team and similar teams with Toge as the only Flying resist is HP Ground Oricorio Pom Pom. It might seem like an odd, extremely niche set, but it actually has a lot of benefits especially in this meta. When packing HP Ground, Pom can easily lure Toge, Aggron, Lanturn, and the more rare Probopass. Toge can only hope to Toxic or flinch back with Zing Zap as Bulky Toge can easily stomach it then KO back. After Toge is removed, curiousity's team lacks much of anything to deal with Pom. Mesprit is CM fodder, Skunk cant 2hko without a poison off Jab and dies to +1 z Hurricane or just Hurricane into HP Ground, Jellicent is also CM fodder, and you always beat Gurdurr 1v1. Because Dodrio is packing Z Fly and Return, it can at least prevent Pom from safely switching in to stop the complete 6-0, so all you need is a good Dodrio check. I went with Metang cause it fucks with Mesprit and Skunk nicely, but if you want something less wheelchair Regirock should do fine. 88 SpA on Pom is to always KO standard Aggron with HP Ground.

Offensive Trick Room Alolan Exeggutor has a great match up, having ample opportunities to set up against Mesprit, Gurdurr, even Togedemaru, and by threatening out Jellicent. Once Trick Room is set, nothing walls Alolan Exeggutor, as in theory everything drops to the appropriate attack. However, it could use a hand against the other team members without a Trick Room in play, so Chople Berry Aggron can handle Skuntank and Dodrio to an extent, while also providing Stealth Rock support. Even a +2 Dodrio does not KO Aggron from full with Jump Kick, while also tanking U-turns far better from Mesprit and Togedemaru.

Mawile & Eelektross (& Healing Wish support)
Eelektross @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

Mawile @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Play Rough
- Super Fang
- Toxic
An odd pairing, but these two Pokémon work as a decent defensive core with Eelektross as a blanket special tank and Mawile as a blanket physical tank. Together, these Pokémon can check a heavy chunk of the meta, with Eelektross using its Levitate ability to help Mawile against dangerous ground types such as Mudsdale and Quagsire, whilst also acting as a scout against threatening coverage options such as HP Ground Mesprit and Flamethrower Weezing. Mawile similarly covers for Eelektross, using Intimidate and its typing to help defend against physical attackers such as Stoutland, Dodrio and (physical) Skuntank.

In this instance, Mawile acts as a rocker that can not only safely get rocks up on Skuntank without fearing any attack but also acts as a reasonable counter to Dodrio. It also threatens Mesprit with Toxic, though Mawile doesn't particularly appreciate being chipped by Psychic against this composition. Mawile can also act as a check to Gurdurr if necessary, using Intimidate, Super Fang and Play Rough to its advantage.
Eelektross has a field day against a team with no electric immunity, coming in for free on both Jellicent and Mesprit (as well as Togedemaru, though it fears Toxic). Eelektross also outspeeds Gurdurr, meaning it can act as an offensive check in an emergency scenario.

The biggest weakness this core has is its vulnerability to chip damage. As a result, pairing this core with something like Z-Pivot Persian-A or Scarf Mesprit could be very useful to allow the core to continue to check multiple Pokémon in one match (i.e. this would allow Eelektross to safely act as a check to Dodrio before boosts, or more easily threaten a sweep late game with Thunderbolt.

I really like Jmash's A-Egg and Aggron, it made this a tough choice, but I'm going to have to go with LordST's Pom-Pom+Metang for this one.

Congratulations to LordST for winning this week! Your submission will be logged into the archive shortly.

Pompom has recently become the top Oricorio forme to pick thanks to its ability to keep Pokemon like Scyther and Gurdurr in check, and this team allows it to perform optimally! It also pairs nicely with the October drop Quagsire, forming a potent defensive core that's able to cover for each other's checks quite nicely. The team also consists of Stoutland and Offensive Mesprit in order to up the offensive pressure and give the team some power.

Eelektross @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower
- Knock Off

This team lacks priority, and Scarf Mesprit is its only form of speed control -- meaning that, after a Shell Smash, Oma has a clear path to a sweep. At +2, Oma outspeeds Mesprit and can OHKO with Hydro Pump. Focus Sash allows Oma to set up on an attack that would normally kill it (like Stoutland's Superpower or Mesprit's Grass Knot) and proceed to bop everything in sight.

In order to sweep, Oma needs chip damage on Clefairy, Quag and Snowslash. Eelektross is able to Knock Off Clef's Eviolite and hit the latter two with 4x effective coverage moves. It also provides Oma with a slow pivot to come in at full health and get off a Shell Smash when it's time to sweep, and can switch into Quag/Slash's Earthquake for free.

So since Omastar was already taken, I needed to choose another fast Water-type that could bust the team down with minimal support. Simipour isn't too great overall but compared to some other stuff but good lord is it fun when it works out. It beats down this team pretty damn hard in 1v1s with the general lack of Water resists, but with things like Clefairy and Toxic Quag / Aloslash the team can punish its Nasty Plots to the point of it being somewhat safely revenge killed by Scarf Mesprit. This is where Skuntank comes in, as Mesprit will be forced to Psychic or Grass Knot to actually revenge Simipour once it's taken some chip (which is actually more in Simipour's favor most of the time since stuff like Quagsire EQ will be just enough to send it into Aguav range, making it much harder to KO with Mesprit). Once Skuntank gets in on a Mesprit attack that isn't U-turn, it can pick it off pretty easy with CB Pursuit. Skunk also can pack Memento in this case to give Simipour more setup opportunity. Ideally these are paired with stuff like Aggron that would coerce this team to keep Quagsire around to wall it to stop them from making bad plays like staying in to Toxic Simipour to make your sweep easier, but for the purpose of this thread these two do just fine. Once Simipour can get a Nasty Plot off and stay out of Mesprit range, it'll just be a matter of hitting Hydro Pumps.
