Tangela stands as one of the best defensive Pokemon in PU thanks to its good defensive typing, reliable recovery, immense bulk, and access to Regenerator, making it a consistent answer to threats like Stoutland, Gurdurr, Primeape, and Lycanroc. Additionally, utility options in Knock Off, Leech Seed, and Sleep Powder allow it to cripple and pressure opposing teams immensely, making it quite a nuisance. These traits allow Tangela to separate itself from Ferroseed, which has access to Spikes but cannot check many of the aforementioned threats, and make Tangela a huge component of balance and stall teams where its ability to compress defensive roles and check stallbreakers like Stoutland is highly sought after. Pokemon like Regirock, Audino, and Lanturn make for good teammates on defensive teams, as they check special attackers like Oricorio-E, Guzzlord ,and Simisear reliably. The latter two also provide it with Heal Bell Support, while offensive partners like Dodrio appreciate Tangela's ability to check Pokemon like Quagsire.

These traits allow Tangela to separate itself from Ferroseed, (mention that ferro has spikes) who cannot check many of the aforementioned threats and make Tangela a huge component of balance and stall teams where its ability to compress defensive roles and check stallbreakers like Stoutland is highly sought after. Pokemon like Audino and Lanturn (regirock is also a fine example, as it checks flying-types like dod and pom-pom. also, if cinccino and mega aboma stay, i'd mention them) make for good teammates on defensive teams as they check special attackers like Guzzlord and Simisear reliably and provide it with Heal Bell Support, while offensive partners like Dodrio appreciate Tangela's ability to check Pokemon like Regirock.
