Pyukumuku's bulk combined with Unaware makes it an ideal toxic staller and a hard stop to most setup sweepers. The goal of this set is simple; Use Block to trap setup sweepers who can't do much damage to Pyukumuku, and stall them out with Toxic. Soak allows Pyukumuku to afflict Poison- and Steel- types with Toxic, someting normally impossible to do, and also helps Pyukumuku survive longer against powerful attacks such as Terrakion's Close Combat by removing their STAB bonus. Recover helps Pyukumuku stay in the match longer so it can stall more effectively. Pyukumuku can also run a PP stall set over a Toxic stall set by replacing Toxic and Soak with Spite and Rest, which can be useful against Substitute users such as SubCM Jirachi. Rest also allows Pyukumuku to rid itself of status, at the cost of being a sitting duck for 2 turns. Thus, it is strongly reccomended that you do not use Rest in situations where Pyukumuku is likely to be 3HKOed or 2HKOed.
Because Pyuku is so incredibly passive, it only fits on hardcore stall teams. Ferrothorn is one of the best partners for Pyukumuku, being able to check attackers that would give Pyukumuku trouble such as Dracozolt, Zeraora and Clefable. In return, Pyukumuku can check the Fire-types that give Ferrothorn trouble. Hippowdon is another excellent partner, being able to switch into Electric-type attacks unfazed and force out most Electric-type attackers with Earthquake. Pyukumuku can return the favor by trapping and eliminating Water-type attackers, such as Keldeo and Primarina. Sylveon and Clefable can cure Pyukumuku of status conditions such as Toxic and paralysis, which is a godsend for the Sea Cucumber Pokemon. They can also keep Pyukumuku healthy with Wish in case of an emergency. In return, Pyukumuku can trap and stall out Steel-types that threaten these Pokemon, such as Bisharp and Excadrill.
