[SET COMMENTS]
Appletun is a Choice Specs wallbreaker that cleanly OHKOes a great spectrum of the metagame, including fast Miltank, Tangela, Rhydon, and Gurdurr. Dragon Pulse is a no-drawback alternative to Draco Meteor that allows Appletun to still nail switch-ins without being locked into the momentum-draining Draco Meteor long-term. Recover gives Appletun invaluable longevity at the cost of momentum; it also works well versus Knock Off users like Tangela and Thwackey. Thick Fat is the ability of choice, allowing Appletun to take weak Ice-type moves like Silvally's Ice Beam while assisting it in dealing with Fire-type attackers like Rapidash and Ninetales more easily.

Choice Specs Appletun puts out phenomenal offensive pressure and can switch into Pokemon that it resists common attacks from with ease such as Rhydon, Galarian Stunfisk, Kabutops, Palossand, and Raichu. VoltTurn users like the Silvally formes, Rotom, and Uxie all make for useful teammates, creating momentum and giving Appletun easy entry onto the field. Physical wallbreakers like Klinklang, Sawk, and Rhydon that can threaten the special walls Appletun struggles with like Articuno and Clefairy are also invaluable for its team. In turn, Appletun threatens out physically defensive staples like Palossand, Rhydon, Miltank, and Altaria.

[SET COMMENTS]
Physically Defensive Appletun is an excellent physical wall; thanks to its solid bulk, unusual typing, and Thick Fat, it has a unique set of resistances that allows it to absorb hits from the likes of Rhydon, Gourgeist, Alolan Dugtrio, Kabutops, and standard Rapidash. Its Eject Pack also allows it to act as a one-time pivot, hitting hard with Draco Meteor, especially if Apple Acid is used beforehand, as it pivots out. Body Press allows Appletun to beat Steel-types like Klinklang and Pawniard while Leech Seed is useful for allowing it to sustain through physical variants of Silvally, Sawk, defensive Qwilfish, and Kangaskhan. The given EV spread lets Appletun outspeed uninvested Rhydon and Gurdurr.

Special walls like Galarian Stunfisk, Miltank, and Articuno make for great partners, covering for each other's weaknesses. Physical wallbreakers like Klinklang, Sawk, and Rhydon and special wallbreakers like Skuntank, Thievul, and Jynx appreciate being able to come in through Draco Meteor to continue to apply offensive pressure. Rotom, Skuntank, Silvally-Poison, and Morpeko all appreciate Appletun's ability to put pressure on common Ground-types, while Appletun appreciates both the momentum they generate and the pressure they put on opposing Fairy- and Ice-types. Lastly, Appletun is greatly appreciated as a Knock Off absorber by Eviolite users like Gurdurr and Rhydon and Heavy-Duty Boots users like Rapidash, Articuno, and Altaria.

Maximum Speed investment allows Specs Appletun to outspeed Tangela and Speed tie the mirror at worst. 160 Speed EVs allows Appletun to outspeed uninvested Piloswine, while the given investment of 84 Speed EVs on the defensive set allows Appletun to outspeed uninvested Rhydon and Gurdurr. Often times lowering Speed investment isn't worth it on the Choice Specs set, though it can be worth considering on the defensive set. Appletun can opt for Leftovers over Eject Pack on its defensive set, though it becomes even more of a momentum sink and loses its ability to absorb Knock Off as easily; in exchange, it becomes a sturdier check against the physical Pokemon it's tasked to handle. In a similar vein, Appletun can opt to forgo Draco Meteor for Iron Defense to improve its Klinklang matchup further, power up Body Press, and allow it to act as a sturdier physical wall, though the loss of Draco Meteor is significant. Choice Specs Appletun can opt for Giga Drain as a fourth move over Recover, giving Appletun health while still firing off powerful Grass-type STAB attacks. However, this can be easily punished by Grass-resistant switch-ins, making it a less consistent choice compared to the former two options. Leech Seed is Choice Specs Appletun's only way to hit Shedinja and is worth considering over Recover as a result, though Shedinja is uncommon at best within the metagame.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Attackers:** Appletun's pitifully low Speed tier makes it a target for most offensive threats like Qwilfish, Skuntank, Silvally-Poison, Froslass, and Jynx once they've switched in, though often times Appletun must be chipped beforehand to not take them out with it.

**Ice-types:** Articuno is a major barrier to Appletun's progress, threatening major damage to every single variant of Appletun with Freeze-Dry and chunking it hard with U-Turn on its way out. While Cryogonal isn't as sturdy of an Appletun check as Articuno due to not being resistant to Apple Acid, it threatens Appletun similarly hard.

**Klinklang:** Klinklang is able to freely setup on Choice Specs variants of Appletun and beats physically defensive Appletun if it reaches +2 Attack unscathed. Furthermore, Toxic is tough to switch into as well. Clear Body also means it ignores Apple Acid's secondary effect.

**Fairy-types:** Alcremie is able to setup if it gets in on a Choice Specs Draco Meteor or on defensive variants of Appletun, though it doesn't enjoy having its special bulk tagged by Apple Acid. Clefairy can threaten major damage on Appletun with Moonblast, though it must get in safely first to do so.

Appletun's good Special Attack, solid bulk, (while this is true it has nothing to do with making it a powerful wallbreaker) and phenomenal offensive STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Apple Acid make it a powerful, albeit prediction reliant, slow, and lacking coverage Choice Specs wallbreaker that is able to cleanly OHKO or 2HKO much of the offensive side a great spectrum of the metagame including example 1, 2, and 3. Draco Meteor threatens to cold OHKO fast Miltank, Tangela, Gurdurr, and Rapidash while threatening out every single attacker unable to find a KO on it. On the other hand, Apple Acid's SpDef lowering effect threatens defensive walls like Alcremie and Clefairy while easily targetting down the tier's several defensive ground types including Palossand, Rhydon, Stunfisk, and Stunfisk-G. fluff, this is entirely true but analysis try to be short and avoid explaining straightforward things like the use of a STAB move Dragon Pulse is a less risky it is not less risky, it has less drawback but is significantly weaker, that is what you should articulate the sentence around alternative to Draco Meteor that allows Appletun to still nail switch-ins without being locked into the momentum draining Draco Meteor long-term. Recover gives Appletun invaluable longevity at the cost of momentum i would mention it can come handy if appletun gets hit by knock off from the like of tangela and thwackey while Leech Seed hits Shedinja taxes its more reliable switch-ins, especially Articuno. Thick Fat is the ability of choice, allowing Appletun to take a non-STAB weak Ice-type moves such as A and B if necessary and assist it in dealing with Fire-type attackers such as Rapidash and Ninetales more easily, especially standard Rapidash sets.

Choice Specs Appletun is able to put out phenomenal offensive pressure and can switch into Pokemon that it resists with ease such as .., though other Pokemon such as ... can be problematic for it at times. As such, VoltTurn users like the Silvally formes, Rotom, and Uxie all make for useful teammates, creating momentum and giving Appletun easy entry onto the field. Physical wallbreakers such as Klinklang and ?? that can threaten the special walls like Articuno and Clefairy that Appletun struggles with are also invaluable for its team; Galarian Stunfisk, Rhydon, and Sawk all are appreciated by Appletun on a game to game basis why?. Klinklang in particular is a valuable teammate as it threatens out Articuno, the hardest counter to Appletun in the entire tier. I feel like you struggled to find what to mention there. This is a place where you mention common partners that help patching appletun's weakness and partners that appletun patches the weaknesses of.

Its Eject Pack also allows it to act as a one time pivot, hitting hard with Draco Meteor as it leaves - especially if Apple Acid is used beforehand. Apple Acid allows it to threaten out the mons it switches into and softens up checks for its brutal Draco Meteor while Recover lets it stay healthier throughout the duration of the game. fluff Body Press allows Appletun to beat Steel-types like Klinklang and Pawniard 1v1 while Leech Seed is more generally useful, allowing it to sustain through physical variants of Silvally, Sawk, defensive Qwilfish, and Kangaskhan. it is missing the speed evs

Special walls like Silvally-Dark, Galarian Stunfisk, Miltank, and Articuno make for great partners, covering for Appletun's weaknesses and vice versa. Hazard support from Uxie, Rhydon, Qwilfish, and others is useful for Appletun to draw enemies ever closer to Draco Meteor range while continuing its war of attrition on the enemy team. fluff Klinklang also continues to be an invaluable ally, taking on Articuno and several other stray Ice-type and Poison-type attacks for Appletun. This is very lacking, I would mention strong wallbreakers that like coming through dm and same thing as the previous sentence.

In a similar vein, Appletun can opt to forgo Draco Meteor for Leech Seed or Protect while keeping Body Press to improve its matchup against Klinklang further, though the loss of Draco Meteor is felt on a game to game basis and drops its consistency against most of the other Pokemon it is tasked with handling. Appletun only drops DM for Iron Defense

Appletun can opt for a specially defensive set not dissimilar to the physically defensive set, but with Leech Seed/Protect as the fourth move instead of Body Press. Specially Defensive Appletun is able to blanket check several special attackers well including Rotom, uninvested Articuno, Tangela, and Altaria, though other options in the metagame like Articuno itself, Miltank, and Alcremie tend to be preferred due to their greater versatility or overall usefulness to their team through cleric support. too niche imo

Choice Specs Appletun can opt for Giga Drain as a fourth move over Recover and Leech Seed, giving Appletun health while still firing off powerful Grass STAB attacks. However, this can be easily punished by grass-resistant switch-ins, making it a less consistent option compared to the former two options.

Froslass and Jynx are also able to effortlessly threaten out Appletun once it has any chip on it, though they cannot switch into it safely. mention cryogonal as well

Poison-types: Skuntank, Qwilfish, and Silvally-Poison threaten massive damage to Appletun. Once again, however, switching into it safely is difficult at best. -> goes under faster attackers

Klinklang: Klinklang is able to freely setup on Choice Specs variants of Appletun and beats physically defensive Appletun if it reaches +2 Attack unscathed. -> clear body also means it ignores apple acid's secondary effect

Clefairy can threaten major damage on Appletun with Moonblast, though it must get in safely first to do so.
