Epikhairz

Anything goes

Skeleton by Deoxymoron

[Pros]

It posesses a massive Defense stat thanks to Fur Coat.

Cotton Guard makes its defense even better.

It's a very good physically defensive pivot with U-Turn.

[Cons]

It posesses no reliable forms of recovery.

It has very underwhelming attacking stats.

It is setup bait for Stall and special attackers.

It has no resistances and is weak to Fighting.

[Set Recommendations]

name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Return
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Thunder Wave / Toxic
move 4: Roar / Cotton Guard
ability: Fur Coat
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
nature: Impish

This is Furfrou's only viable set. It's massive defense stat and access to U-turn allows it to serve as a bulky pivot. Return is Furfrou's STAB attack of choice for when it needs to hit something as hard as it possibly can. Thunder Wave can be used to cripple various sweepers, while Toxic can be used to deal hefty residual damage, while also crippling other walls. For the final moveslot, Roar can be used to phaze out various sweepers, while also allowing Furfrou to be an annoying parashuffler in conjunction with Thunder Wave. However, Cotton Guard is a useful option to buff Furfrou's massive defense even further if Furfrou plans to stay in for the long run, and works extremely well with Toxic to outstall various threats. The given EV spread maximizes Furfrou's Defense stat, but it can also run a spread of 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe to be a mixed defensive pivot.

Baby-Doll Eyes is another useful support move for Furfrou to have which indirectly boosts its defense, but Cotton Guard is almost always the better option. Sucker Punch and Wild Charge are some coverage moves that Furfrou could use against Gengar and Gyarados, respectively, but Furfrou's offensive stats are terrible, so these should only be used if absolutely neccesary. Good teammates for Furfrou are frail wallbreakers who need a pivot to sponge hits directed towards them, such as Talonflame and Lucario. Magnezone and Dugtrio can trap Steel-types effectively, making them good teammates, for they can cause a lot of trouble for Furfrou. Finally, special walls and Pokemon who resist Fighting are good teammates as well; Florges gets an honorable mention for being able to be both.

[Checks and Counters]

Just because Furfrou has an amazing Defense stat, doesn't mean it's hard to take down. Special attackers have no trouble running right through it. Taunt users also give Furfrou trouble by cutting it off from its wide support movepool and limiting it to Return and U-turn. Finally, Steel-types don't really care about anything that Furfrou could possibly have and will usually use it as setup fodder.
