UU Quagsire (QC 3/3) (GP 2/2)

[OVERVIEW]
:ss/quagsire:
Quagsire possesses a unique niche in the UU metagame with its ability in Unaware, which lets it stop setup sweepers such as Scizor and Dragon Dance Salamence in their tracks. A Water / Ground typing allows Quagsire to act as a Volt Switch absorber while also checking Pokemon such as Rotom-H and Lycanroc-D. As such, these attributes make Quagsire a staple on stall teams. However, Quagsire's 4x weakness to Grass makes it unable to check Pokemon such as Nihilego and Gyarados, as they commonly carry Grass-type coverage. Quagsire's bulk only goes so far, as very strong wallbreakers such as Crawdaunt and Azumarill can break through it with minimal effort. Finally, Quagsire's poor special bulk leaves it unable to take on special attackers well, leaving it vulnerable to Pokemon such as Thundurus-T and Keldeo.

[SET COMMENTS]

Scald has a good chance to burn threats such as Scizor and Tapu Bulu. Earthquake hits Pokemon such as Raikou, Jirachi, and Nihilego. Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Tangrowth and Kommo-o, which would otherwise come in for free. Heavy-Duty Boots is an option to avoid damage from Spikes and Toxic Spikes; however, Quagsire is already resistant to Stealth Rock, and the passive recovery brought by Leftovers is generally much more appreciated. Haze is difficult to fit on Quagsire's moveset, but it is an option to stop setup sweepers such as Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus in their tracks. The given EV spread allows Quagsire to take on special attackers such as Rotom-W more comfortably while maximizing its physical bulk.

Quagsire fits best on stall teams, stopping setup sweepers with Unaware. Amoonguss and Tangrowth are excellent partners for Quagsire, as they check Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu and Zarude. Additionally, these Pokemon are able to check wallbreakers that Quagsire struggles with, such as Conkeldurr. Chansey forms a solid defensive core with Quagsire, being able to check special attackers such as Nihilego and Thundurus-T, while Quagsire checks physical threats for it in return. Chansey's Heal Bell also allows it to cure status that easily wear down Quagsire. Other clerics such as Umbreon and Mew are also good options to pair with Quagsire. As Quagsire can be overwhelmed by strong physical wallbreakers while Spikes are in play, Pokemon that provide Defog support such as Mew and Salamence are highly recommend. Ditto can provide offensive support and deter setup sweepers like Haxorus and Crawdaunt that Quagsire can't deal with properly.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Curse set turns Quagsire into a bulky sweeper, but it will need many boosts before it can cause serious damage and is even more vulnerable to Grass-types. Additionally, it must drop Scald from its moveset, making Quagsire much more passive.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types and Grass-type Moves**: Grass-types resist any attack Quagsire throws at them and proceed to force it out. Amoonguss deserves a special mention, as it is immune to Toxic and can recover any lost health with Regenerator. Pokemon that can lure in Quagsire and KO it with a coverage move, such as Gyarados and Nihilego, are also threats to Quagsire.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Quagsire's bulk is only decent; extremely strong attacks coming from the likes of Buzzwole and Diggersby will easily overwhelm it. Haxorus can also easily overpower Quagsire with Mold Breaker ignoring Unaware.

**Special Attackers**: Quagsire's mediocre special bulk makes it unable to stomach many special attacks, and as such, strong special attackers like Primarina and Azelf can easily break through it.

[OVERVIEW]
:ss/quagsire:
- Quagsire possesses a unique niche in the UU metagame with its ability, Unaware, which lets it stop setup sweepers in their tracks.
- A Water/Ground typing allows Quagsire to act as a Volt Switch absorber and Zeraora counter while also checking threats such as Scizor, physical Victini, and Kommo-o. You aren't a very reliable Kommo-o check given the most common offensive sets are either special or mixed, meaning Quag can get overwhelmed. Also, you're better off moving the Scizor mention into your first point to indicate it being SD because Quagsire's typing isn't particularly all that important when it comes to checking Scizor, as CB sets would be able to wear it down easily with U-turn. You can add Magnezone and Lycanroc-D as better examples instead.

- These attributes make Quagsire a staple on stall and fit more easily on more defensive playstyles, such as balance.
- Quagsire is extremely passive, as it brings in threats such as Tapu Bulu, Tangrowth, and Salamence because of its 4x weakness to Grass while doubling as a momentum sink. You seem to be jumping between two points here. Salamence doesn't carry Grass coverage, which you seem to be implying by the way this is worded. Also, Quag isn't overtly passive as it can cripple these foes with a Scald or Toxic. I would remove the whole passive point entirely and just focus on the 4x weakness to Grass-type moves. It would also be a good idea to use examples of Pokemon that carry this coverage like Nihilego and special Victini that prevent Quag from being reliable checks to them.

- Quagsire’s bulk only goes so far, as very strong wallbreakers such as Terrakion and Azumarill can break through it with minimal effort.
- These negative attributes relegate Quagsire to the aforementioned playstyles, as it is simply too passive to be of any use to any other team.

Talk about its poor SpD bulk because foes like Thundurus-T can easily muscle through it.

Paragraph 1
- Scald is Quagsire’s main move, having a good chance to burn threats such as Scizor and Kommo-o. You ideally want to Toxic Kommo-o, instead mention you can cripple bulu on the switch-in.

- Earthquake hits Pokemon such as Tentacruel, Jirachi, and Nihilego, notably OHKOing the latter. , and Jirachi for good damage, with the added bonus of netting a OHKO on Nihilego.

- Toxic cripples switchins such as Tangrowth, Kommo-o, and Kyurem Tapu Bulu, Just swapping the example up as Kyurem is a target you 100% want to cripple with Toxic who would otherwise come in for free.

- Rocky Helmet is an option to chip at Scizor, but Quagsire appreciates the passive recovery Leftovers bring. Only mention Leftovers. It wants an item that improves its longevity because it impacts a lot of dmg rolls. Without lefties you can't pivot into foes like Lycanroc-D reliably enough for example.

Mention heavy-duty boots as an option
Mention Haze as an option

Paragraph 2
- Pokemon that can deal with Grass-types, such as Volcanion, Kyurem, and Scizor are immensely helpful to Quagsire. You are likely not pairing a Volcanion on the same team as a Quag. Even Kyurem is a little sketch though I guess doable, but I would rather you focused on partners like Amoong and Tangrowth that can take on Zarude and Tapu Bulu. Also worth noting they are more reliable pivots into Zeraora as they don't mind losing their item as much. You can keep Scizor.

- Chansey forms a solid defensive core with Quagsire, being able to check special attackers while Quagsire checks physical threats. Chansey’s access to Teleport, Heal Bell, and Wish also allows it to support and pivot into Quagsire. as it can easily be worn down by status ailments like Toxic poison. When talking about the special threats Chansey handles bring up special Victini as Quag can't reliably take that on.

- Because of Quagsire’s ability to check setup sweepers and Volt Switch, Pokemon such as Terrakion and Galarian Moltres make for good teammates, as they can now proceed to setup without said problems interferring.

You haven't fully grasped the teammates you would pair with a quag. You specify you would run it on stall and fat balance but most of these partners besides Chansey/Scizor are not going to be slotted onto them.

Mention:
  • Hazard removal. Quag is easily worn down by hazards so naturally, it needs Defog support. Salamence and Mew are the likely candidates fulfilling this role. mence also checks the Grass-types.
  • You mentioned rly strong breakers can overwhelm it like Crawdaunt and Diggersby, so partners that help with these Pokemon like Skarmory are beneficial. Skarm can also take those Grass-type attacks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
- A Curse set turns Quagsire into a bulky setup sweeper, but Quagsire will need many boosts before it can cause serious damage and is even more vulnerable to Grass-types.
- Encore can lock an opposing Pokemon into an undesirable move, but this rarely works in practice, as most Pokemon will not setup in front of Quagsire.
- Ice Beam can hit Grass-types for super effective damage. However, Quagsire can not afford to drop any moves from its set, and generally, Toxic already cripples Grass-types. It would also pressure Salamence harder
- A trapping set with Whirlpool allows Quagsire to act as a trapper, but the defensive utility of Scald is hard to pass up.

Checks and Counters

**Special Attackers**: Quagsire’s mediocre special bulk makes it unable to stomach many special attacks, and as such, strong special attackers like Alakazam and Kyurem can easily break through Quagsire.

As Quagsire is easily worn down by entry hazards, Pokemon that provide Defog support such as Mew and Salamence are highly recommend it's already mentioned that quag isn't really bothered by sr earlier? i think its be better to restructure that quag can be overwhelmed by breakers when spikes are in play -> defog like mew and mence r good. Ditto can provide offensive pressure for Quagsire and can deter setup sweepers like Haxorus and Crawdaunt that Quagsire can’t deal with properly.

A Curse set turns Quagsire into more of a bulky wincon, but Quagsire will need many boosts before it can cause serious damage and is even more vulnerable to Grass-types. Encore can lock an opposing Pokemon into an undesirable move, but this rarely works in practice, as most Pokemon will not setup in front of Quagsire. Also, Quagsire‘s low speed also harms its ability to use the move, as there are only a handful of Pokémon that it can outspeed. Ice Beam can hit Grass-types for super effective damage and pressure Salamence more easily. However, Quagsire can not afford to drop any moves from its set, and generally, Toxic already cripples Grass-types and Salamence. include replaces scald for curse

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types and Grass-type Moves**: Grass-types are the bane of Quagsire, as they resist any attack Quagsire throws at them and proceed to force Quagsire out. Amoonguss deserves a special mention, as it is immune to Toxic and can recover any lost health with Regenerator. Pokemon that can lure in Quagsire and KO it with a coverage move, such as Gyarados and Nihilego, are also threats to Quagsire.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Quagsire's bulk is only decent; extremely strong attacks coming from the likes of Crawdaunt use a breaker u haven't done already or Diggersby will easily overwhelm Quagsire. The rare Haxorus can even ignore Unaware due to Mold Breaker and use it as setup fodder rewrite this so its about haxorus overpowering w moldbreaker, it doesn't actually set up on quag in practice.

**Special Attackers**: Quagsire's mediocre special bulk makes it unable to stomach many special attacks, and as such, strong special attackers like Keldeo and Thundurus-Therian can easily break through Quagsire you use these two in the overview as examples so if possible use different ones.

Quagsire possesses a unique niche in the UU metagame with its ability,(RC) Unaware, which lets it stop setup sweepers such as Scizor and Dragon Dance Salamence in their tracks. A Water/Ground Water / Ground typing allows Quagsire to act as a Volt Switch absorber while also checking Pokemon such as Rotom-Heat and Lycanroc-Dusk Lycanroc-D. As such, these attributes make Quagsire a staple on stall. However, Quagsire’s 4x weakness to Grass makes it unable to check Pokemon such as Nihilego and Gyarados, as they commonly carry Grass-type coverage. Quagsire’s bulk only goes so far, as very strong wallbreakers such as Crawdaunt and Azumarill can break through it with minimal effort. Finally, Quagsire’s poor special bulk leaves it unable to take on special attackers well, leaving it vulnerable to Pokemon such as Thundurus-Therian Thundurus-T and Keldeo.

Toxic cripples switchins switch-ins such as Tangrowth and Kommo-o, who which would otherwise come in for free. Heavy-Duty Boots is an option to avoid damage from Spikes and Toxic Spikes. However, Quagsire is already resistant to Stealth Rock, and the passive recovery brought by Leftovers is generally much more appreciated than Heavy-Duty Boots. Haze is difficult to fit on Quagsire's moveset, but it is an option to stop setup sweepers such as Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus in their tracks. The given EV spread allows Quagsire to take on special attackers such as Rotom-Wash Rotom-W more comfortably while maximizing its physical bulk.

Quagsire fits best on stall due to its ability to check setup sweepers due to teams,(AC) stopping setup sweepers with Unaware. Amoonguss and Tangrowth are excellent partners for Quagsire, as they check Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu and Zarude. Additionally, these Pokemon are able to check wallbreakers that Quagsire struggles with, such as Conkeldurr and Tapu Bulu you already mentioned bulu, so find another one here or just use conk.
