Scald provides Quagsire with a chance to burn incoming physical attackers such as Swords Dance Silvally formes, Passimian, and Bewear. Recover is necessary so that Quagsire can continue fulfilling its role as a physical wall. Toxic allows Quagsire to cripple opposing walls such as Gastrodon, Jellicent, and Sableye. Alternatively Quagsire can run Curse so that it can use opposing physical attackers as setup fodder and overpower them with Earthquake. Unaware is Quagsire's main selling point and is its most useful ability for fulfilling its role as a physical wall. Leftovers provides Quagsire with passive recovery which can help negate the effect of entry hazards while also reducing its need to use Recover.
