UU Raikou

:ss/raikou:

[OVERVIEW]

With its solid Special Attack, a Speed stat that outpaces nearly the entire metagame, and good special bulk, Raikou is able to make a name for itself as a solid offensive pivot that can check tier staples like Lycanroc-D, Thundurus, and Keldeo. Access to Aura Sphere and Scald along with its STAB Thunderbolt gives Raikou near-perfect coverage against the entire metagame. This coverage, along with its stats and access to Volt Switch, makes Raikou a solid choice for an offensive pivot. Raikou struggles to deal with defensive staples, however, notably Amoonguss and Chansey. It also lacks a form of reliable recovery, which forces it to function mainly as a revenge killer and makes it overly reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots. Raikou also faces strong competition as a fast Electric-type by Thundurus, which has stronger coverage moves, can use U-turn as a pivoting move to prevent being blocked by Ground-types, and can use Knock Off to cripple Pokemon like Assault Vest Tangrowth that Raikou greatly struggles with, though it does have worse special bulk and a worse Speed tier than Raikou. Raikou's subpar physical bulk means that it is easily threatened by several physical attackers it cannot OHKO, like Krookodile and Mamoswine.

[SET]
name: Offensive Pivot
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch

Thunderbolt is Raikou's main method of pressuring Pokemon like Thundurus and Scizor. Volt Switch turns Raikou into a fast offensive pivot, allowing it to make progress and bring its teammates onto the field. Aura Sphere is especially useful, as it allows Raikou to hit Zarude, which completely walls it otherwise. Scald allows Raikou to hit Nidoqueen, another Pokemon that completely walls it otherwise. It can also be used to hit Rhyperior for extra damage and spread status to checks like Tangrowth, and it is Raikou's best move against Thundurus-T. Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switch-ins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald, as well as crippling Rhyperior in the absence of Scald. Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Raikou from taking entry hazard damage, increasing its pivoting capabilities.

This Raikou set works best on VoltTurn and bulky offense teams that appreciate Raikou's high Speed tier and its ability to check Thundurus and Lycanroc-D. Flying-types like Salamence, Noivern, and Moltres are excellent partners for this set. The latter two form powerful pivoting cores with Raikou, while the former can overwhelm special walls such as Assault Vest Reuniclus, Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, and Mew. Powerful wallbreakers, like Keldeo, Nihilego, and Mamoswine, appreciate Raikou bringing them in safely against its checks, such as Chansey and Amoonguss, which they can then pressure. Keldeo is an especially good partner for Raikou, as together they can overwhelm their shared checks, such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss. Pokemon that can pivot into Ground-types, particularly Rhyperior, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon, are greatly appreciated, especially if Raikou is not running Scald. Grass-types, such as Zarude and Tangrowth, are especially good at dealing with these Pokemon. Raikou greatly appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon like Mew, which allows it to wear down its checks like Tangrowth in combination with Volt Switch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

=============

Substitute and Calm Mind can be used to give Raikou some extra breaking power with either Aura Sphere or Scald (preferably the latter to hit Zarude while still being to hit Rhyperior) as the coverage move, but in a metagame infested with Assault Vest Tangrowth, it is very hard to make this set work. Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those Pokemon and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Tangrowth only takes neutral damage from Aura Sphere, and can take those well due to commonly running Assault Vest. Amoonguss resists all of Raikou's coverage moves, walling it with ease. Zarude can easily wall most of Raikou's attacks and, if holding a Choice Scarf, easily pivot out on it with U-Turn, though it does have to watch out for Aura Sphere. The former two Pokemon also have Regenerator, which means that they are not punished as hard by Raikou's Volt Switch.

**Ground-types**: Choice Scarf Krookodile, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Zygarde-10% can all outspeed or Speed tie Raikou and use their super effective moves to OHKO it. Rhyperior can also serve as a major threat and can scare Raikou out if its HP is high enough; however, it does have to be extremely wary of Scald. Gastrodon and Seismitoad are able to completely wall Raikou with ease, though they do fear Toxic.

**Kommo-o**: Kommo-o either resists or is immune to all of Raikou's attacking moves and can easily turn it in into setup fodder if it is running a Clangorous Soul set, although physical and mixed sets do have to worry about being burned by Scald. It also has no reliable recovery, and thus gets worn down easily by multiple Volt Switches as well as Toxic.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Chansey's enormous special bulk allows it to wall Raikou, even if it has Aura Sphere. However, Chansey does not like switching into Volt Switch, especially when hazards are up. Assault Vest Reuniclus, Mew, and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro can also sponge Raikou's attacks easily, though the former two do have to watch out for Toxic.

[OVERVIEW]

  • With its solid Special Attack, and Speed, and good special bulk, Raikou is able to make a name for itself as one of the best Electric-types in the metagame.
  • Access to Scald and Aura Sphere along with its STAB Thunderbolt gives Raikou near-perfect coverage against the entire metagame.
  • This coverage, along with access to a great boosting move in Calm Mind, allows Raikou to deal with threats like Keldeo, Moltres-G, and Nidoqueen
  • bring up its pivot set and mention how it is a great fit on voltturn teams due to it being one of the fastest unboosted pokemon in the tier
  • Raikou is susceptible to forms of chip damage, particularly entry hazards and Toxic.
  • This means that its ability to come in and set up is often limited. (combine this with above point, also mention how lack of reliable recovery means it can get up a substitute only for a limited amount of times)
  • Raikou's subpar physical bulk also means that it is easily threatened by several physical attackers who it cannot OHKO, like Krookodile and Mamoswine.

[SET]

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • Calm Mind is used to boost Raikou's Special stats, allowing it to score KOs easier and tank super-effective attacks from foes a bit better.
  • For example, after one Calm Mind boost, Nidoqueen's Earth Power becomes only a 2HKO on Raikou.
  • Thunderbolt is Raikou's STAB and its main attacking move. basic info
  • The next move depends on what Pokemon should be targeted more. Aura Sphere hits foes like Krookodile and Mamoswine, while Scald hits Nihilego, Nidoqueen, and Rhyperior. (this is incorrect because scald hits all of them since they are all weak to water. Change the examples of krookodile and mamoswine to water resistant pokemon that don't like aura sphere so it makes sense)
  • Substitute is used to give Raikou more opportunities to set up. bring up who raikou gets a sub on. Aura Sphere can go here if targeting Krookodile and Mamoswine is more important. (tying this into above point change to relevant examples of pokemon aura sphere hits like zarude)
  • Leftovers give Raikou a form of recovery, which it lacks otherwise.

Paragraph 2
  • This Raikou set is best used on balance and bulky offense teams as a fast sweeper
  • Raikou greatly appreciates having hazard removers like Noivern, Salamence, Rotom-W, and Tentacruel as teammates, as they can get rid of one of Raikou's biggest weaknesses in hazard damage
  • Raikou also appreciates having clerics like Chansey, Jirachi, and Sylveon as clerics for similar reasons. These Pokemon can remove Raikou's status conditions with Heal Bell and provide it with another form of recovery in Wish.
  • If not running Aura Sphere, Fighting-types like Conkeldurr, Kommo-o, and Mienshao can help break through Pokemon like Grimmsnarl (change grimmsnarl to another example) since it can beat kommo-o and mienshao with a free switch) and Zarude that Raikou can no longer reliably deal with.
  • Similarly, if not running Scald, Water-types like Crawdaunt, Azumarill, and Keldeo can break through threats like Nidoqueen, Nihilego, and Rhyperior for Raikou.
  • give examples of Pokemon who can beat grass types like amoonguss, AV tang, and zarude.

Paragraph 1
  • Thunderbolt and Scald are the main two attacking moves of this set. Thunderbolt is the STAB attack, while Scald hits Rock and Ground types like Nihilego, Nidoqueen, and Rhyperior that can take a Thunderbolt. (last part here is a bit fluff as everyone knows groud types are immune to electric)
  • Volt Switch turns Raikou into a fast offensive pivot, allowing it to make progress and bring its teammates what teammates? Be specific on what raikou lures in (AV tang) and who he can bring on it (Scizor) onto the field easier.
  • Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switchins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Raikou from taking hazard damage, allowing it to avoid one of its biggest weaknesses as well as increasing its pivoting capabilities.
Paragraph 2
  • This Raikou set works best on Voltturn and bulky offense teams thanks to Raikou's high speed tier enabling it as a fast pivot. teams that need pivoting support.
  • Flying types like Salamence and Moltres are greatly appreciated as partners for this set, as they can take out Kommo-o and Tangrowth, two of this set's best switch-ins, with ease.
  • Noivern especially is a great partner for this Raikou set, as they form an extremely fast pivoting duo that can bring each other and other threats in with ease. bring in threats like what? What do they bring each other on? Make sure to note these in the analysis
  • Since this set does not run Aura Sphere, Fighting-types like Keldeo, Conkeldurr, and Kommo-o are greatly valued as partners to make up for the lack of coverage. mention what do they beat for Raikou (zarude, chansey, umbreon)
  • Mamoswine is a good partner for this set because it can take out Dragon and Grass-types (mention which ones), two types that completely wall this Raikou set.
  • mention Pokemon that can defensively answer faster threats like Choice Scarf Krookodile

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Thunder and Weather Ball can be used on rain teams to provide the same coverage as Thunderbolt + Scald with more power, but this combination only works on rain teams, which is an uncommon team archetype.
  • Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those mons and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Pokemon like Kommo-o, Salamence, and Zygarde-10% are some of the only Pokemon in the tier that don't take super-effective damage from any of Raikou's important moves. The latter can also easily OHKO Raikou with Thousand Arrows. Also add that noivern can bypass its sub thanks to infiltrator and 2HKO it with Draco meteor.

maybe make a point about vulnerability to choice scarfers like krookodile, buzzwole, and diggersby who can KO it without a sub up- this is up to you and may or may not be accepted by QC, do what you think is right

add a point about chansey who walls raikou

**Grass-types**: Out of all of Raikou's attacks. Tangrowth only takes neutral damage from Aura Sphere, and it can easily take those due to it commonly running Assault Vest. massive special bulk. Amoonguss resists all three of Raikou's attacking moves, making it able to wall it with ease (note that with enough Calm Mind boosts Amoonguss cannot break the Sub on CM sets)

:ss/raikou:

[OVERVIEW]

  • With its solid Special Attack, Speed and good special bulk, Raikou is able to make a name for itself as one of the best Electric-types in the metagame. This overview curreently oversells Raikou dramatically, the important things you need to cover here are like, why you'd use it over Thundurus-I, which is otherwise a much better Electric. YOu should also have eexamples here, important to note like Whats special about its speed + bulk, eg. its one of the best Thundy-I/T checks, and outspeeds lycanroc, which is the two biggest things about Raikou in this tier right now compared to something like Thundy-I. Obviously comment on its role in the metagame too as a special pivoot that checks threats like Thundies / Keldeo.
  • Access to Scald and Aura Sphere along with its STAB Thunderbolt gives Raikou near-perfect coverage against the entire metagame.
  • This coverage, along with access to a great boosting move in Calm Mind, allows Raikou to deal with threats like Keldeo, Moltres-G, and Nidoqueen. we are nuking SubCM as a set, its just horrendous in this metagame where AV Tang is on most teams, and if not then a Zarude probably is instead.
  • Raikou's pivot set is also greatly appreciated on VoltTurn teams, as it is one of text seems to cut here fsr?
  • Raikou is susceptible to forms of chip damage, particularly entry hazards and Toxic. This, combined with its lack of reliable recovery, means that its ability to come in and set up is often limited. The entry hazards bit obviously needs nuking as the only set will be boots now. You should be noting that its a very poor check to threats like Mence, Scizor, and Rotom-H because of this lack of recovery.
  • Comment on its major downsides compared to Thundy-I, who can wallbreak with NP, has more colourful coverage, and can also run pivot sets that can punish Pokemon like Zarude far more, and can knock off its checks like AV Tangrowth.
  • Raikou's subpar physical bulk also means that it is easily threatened by several physical attackers who it cannot OHKO, like Krookodile and Mamoswine.

Replace with this set, being walled by Zarude is beyond unviable right now.

Paragraph 1
  • Thunderbolt and Scald are the main two attacking moves of this set. Thunderbolt is the STAB attack, while Scald hits Rock and Ground types. Explain why you run Thunderbotl alongside Volt Switch on this set, ie. because it lets you pressure Thundurus-I and Scizor.
  • Also explain in more detail what Scald is useful for, because it hits Rhyperior / Krookodile, and can spread burns onto checks like Amoonguss / Tangrowth to chip them down more.
  • Volt Switch turns Raikou into a fast offensive pivot, allowing it to make progress and bring its teammates onto the field easier. Note in particular the sort of checks it pivots out of, ie. Amoonguss / Tang.
  • Comment on Aura Sphere, as it allows you to hit Zarude in particular.
  • Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switchins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald. Mention it as being an option over Scald, and mention how it can chip down Rhyp alongside Aura Sphere and hazards quite quickly, allowing you to still threaten it.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Raikou from taking chip damage, allowing it to avoid one of its biggest weaknesses as well as increasing its pivoting capabilities.
Paragraph 2
  • This Raikou set works best on VoltTurn and bulky offense teams, thanks to Raikou's high Speed tier. Mention the particularly key reasons you'd run it on one of these teams, because your team needs a fast pivot that can check Thundies and Lycanroc-D.
  • Flying types like Salamence and Moltres are greatly appreciated as partners for this set, as they can take out Kommo-o and Tangrowth, two of this set's best switch-ins, with ease. mention that they provide more reliable Scizor checks, and comment on how Moltres can form a VoltTurn core with it.
  • Noivern especially is a great partner for this Raikou set, i don't really see it personally, Raikou is a rather niche Pokemon anyway but Noivern is also another fast Pokemon that can pressure Thundies too, I feel like in any situation where i'm running Noivern i'd rather run a better Electric and juts run an explicit Lycan check alongside it. Feel free to keep this example if you can provide some genuine explanation here as to why Noivern benefits Raikou though. as they form an extremely fast pivoting duo that can bring each other and other threats in with ease. So when you are writing, you need to give explicit examples of the synergies in question in situations like this instead of just saying "that can bring each other and other threats in with ease", which is just flufff that doesn't tell the reader anything.
  • Since this set does not run Aura Sphere, Fighting-types like Keldeo, Conkeldurr, and Kommo-o are greatly valued as partners to make up for the lack of coverage and to take out special walls like Umbreon and Chansey for it.This set does run Aura Sphere now, but that doesn't really make a shred of difference verses these special walls anyway. Umbreon however is a pretty niche Pokemon and not worth mentioning here, instead you can focus more on how Raikou can help these Pokemon and give some examples of Pokemon it brings them in on. Keldeo in particular seems to share checks with Raikou for most part though, eg. fat grasses, so it seems a weird example to give. Conk / Kommo-o work as examples that pressure Zarude / Tang.
  • Mamoswine is a good partner for this set because it can take out Dragon and Grass-types, such as Salamence and Tangrowth , that completely wall this Raikou set. Another good example you can comment on for this sort of thing is Nihilego, instead of just zero'ing in on only Mamoswine.
  • I'd like to see some mention of swtch ins to Mence to run alongside Raikou. You can speciically bring up Nihilego doing this when you mention it.
  • Bring up checks to Ground-types like Rhyperior and Krookodile.
  • Comment on Spikes support from Mew, helping to wear down ur switch ins like Tang.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Thunder and Weather Ball can be used on rain teams to provide the same coverage as Thunderbolt + Scald with more power, but this combination only works on rain teams, which is an uncommon team archetype. Not only this but there's 0 reason to run this over Thundy-I on rain.
  • Mention SubCM here. Explain that both Scald and Aura Sphere are options as the coverage move: Aura sphere is more prefferable to me however as Scald leaves you walled by Zarude and Rhyperior is a fairly easy pokemon to wear down over a match. Comment on the heavy downsides this set has in an AV tang infested metagame.
  • Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those mons and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Pokemon like Noivern, Kommo-o, and Zygarde-10% are some of the only Pokemon in the tier that don't take super-effective damage from any of Raikou's important moves. The former can bypass Raikou's Substitute with Infiltrator and 2HKO it with Draco Meteor, while the latter can easily OHKO Raikou with Thousand Arrows. Change any commentary that comments on SubCM raikou here. Noivern is a shakey Raikou switch in becaus its relatively frail and hates being Volted on, the main example should be Kommo-o here. Zygarde can be commented on as a more niche option that can OHKO it, but doesnt want to switch in on it.

**Grass-types**: Out of all of Raikou's attacks. Tangrowth only takes neutral damage from Aura Sphere, and it can easily take those due to it commonly running Assault Vest. Amoonguss resists all three of Raikou's attacking moves, making it able to wall it with ease. This should be the first point on the checks and counters. You should specifically be commenting on how Regenerator allows them to be punished less by Volt Switch too.

**Chansey**: Chansey's enormous special bulk allows it to wall Raikou even after multiple Calm Mind boosts and with Aura Sphere. This obviously needs to be rephrased in such a way as to reflect that the Pivot set is the only one now, and commentary on how it dislikes switching into volt switch especially with hazards up.

Would include a section on Ground types as offensive checks in this section, explicit mention on Scarf Krookodile / Diggersby as revenge killers, while commenting on how Rhyperior is a threat to non Scald versions while at high HP, and can scare Scald versions out if healthy although unable to switch in safely.

If making this change, I would recommend altering Dragon types to just be a section on Kommo-o, and putting Zygarde in with the offensive checking Ground-types instead, as Mence and Noivern aren't really good Raikou checks or anything when they are Electric neutral and dont wanna switch in, but more just something Raikou struggles to check itself due to lack of recovery (and being slower than Noivern). Would then order this section to be,

-> Grass Types
-> Ground Types
-> Kommo-o
-> Chansey

There's a lot to be worked on here, primarily due to set changes. We have removed SubCM as a set and moved it into OO as its just a really hard set to justify and to support in this current metagame where AV Tangrowth is absolutely everywhere, and really struggles to achieve anything into these matchups, or matchups versus other checks like Chansey too.

I'd like to have another look at this after this is implemented before I stamp it. If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to message me on Discord or ask for help in the analyses channel in the UU Discord.

[OVERVIEW]

  • With its solid Special Attack, Speed and good special bulk, Raikou is able to make a name for itself as one of the best Electric-types in the metagame. This last bit is really not true, thundurus, thundurus-t, rotom-h, rotom-w are all better electrics in the metagame atm. Just say sometihng about it making a name for itself as a fast pivot that can offensively check Pokemon like Thundurus, Lycanroc-D, and Keldeo.
  • Access to Scald and Aura Sphere along with its STAB Thunderbolt gives Raikou near-perfect coverage against the entire metagame.
  • This coverage, along with its stats and access to Volt Switch, makes Raikou a solid choice for an offensive pivot can just merge this with the first two ponts if you implement my first comment.
  • However, Raikou is easily walled by many tier staples, such as AV Tangrowth and Amoonguss. The sheer presence of these Pokemon in the tier causes Raikou to severely underperform. This was more of a SubCM problem than pivot one, since these just get Volted on, you also comment on AV tang later anyway so i'd just focus on it there. i would just move your last point about lack of reliable recovery making ti worse vs sciz/mence etc up to here.
  • Raikou is also outclassed as an offensive pivot say as a fast electric-type instead imo, because thundurus isn't always a pivot by Thundurus, which can use Nasty Plot to boost its stats, has better coverage, and can use Knock Off to cripple Pokemon like AV Tangrowth that completely wall Raikou. Also has u-turn which you might want to mention somewhere when you talk about it as a pivot.
  • Raikou's subpar physical bulk means that it is easily threatened by several physical attackers who it cannot OHKO, like Krookodile and Mamoswine.
  • Raikou also lacks a form of reliable recovery, giving it a disadvantage against common Pokemon like Scizor, Salamence, and Rotom-H.

Paragraph 1
  • Thunderbolt is the main attacking move of the set, being a STAB move and Raikou's main method of pressuring Pokemon like Thundurus and Scizor.
  • Volt Switch turns Raikou into a fast offensive pivot, allowing it to make progress and bring its teammates onto the field easier.
  • Aura Sphere is especially useful for Raikou as it allows it to hit Zarude, which completely walls it otherwise.
  • Scald can be used to hit Rhyperior and Krookodile, as well as spreading status Aura Sphere is stronger vs Krookodile anyway, just say that it hits Rhyperior harder and can spread burns on checks like Tangrowth.
  • Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switchins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald, as well as chip damaging Rhyperior.in the absense of scald.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Raikou from taking chip damage, allowing it to avoid one of its biggest weaknesses as well as increasing its pivoting capabilities.
Paragraph 2
  • This Raikou set works best on VoltTurn and bulky offense teams, thanks to that appreciate Raikou's high Speed tier and its ability to check both Thundurus forms and Lycanroc-D.
  • Flying types like Salamence and Moltres are greatly appreciated as partners for this set, as they can take out Kommo-o and Tangrowth, two of this set's best switch-ins, with ease, and provide more reliable checks to Scizor. Moltres can also form a VoltTurn core with Raikou.
  • Noivern especially is a great partner for this Raikou set, as they form an extremely fast pivoting duo that can bring each other and other threats in with ease. Since you didn't provide any clarification for this still, I'm gonna ask you to remove this point because you still provide 0 explanation for the synergy here and I still dont think I'd bother with Raikou if i was running Noivern and visa versa (like one of the biggest draws of noiv is that speed tier faster than thundy-i and stuff anyway but if you already have raikou). If you can justify this point better instead of just filling it with fluff, then you can keep it in for QC 2 to decide on though.
  • Since this set does not run Aura Sphere, Fighting-types like Keldeo, Conkeldurr, and Kommo-o are greatly valued as partners to make up for the lack of coverage and to take out special walls like Umbreon Tangrowth and Chansey for it. But.... it does run aura sphere. You ignored a lot of the comments I made last time here but I wanted you to comment specifically on how Raikou can bring these Pokemon in on these special walls, and how Keldeo / Raikou can help overwhelm Tangrowth / Amoonguss for each other.
  • Rock- and Ground-types, such as Nihilego and Mamoswine is a good partner for Raikou because it can take out Dragon and Grass-types, such as Salamence and Tangrowth, that completely wall it.
  • Counters to Rock- and Ground-types are greatly appreciated, especially if Raikou is not running Scald. Water-types, such as Primarina and Keldeo, are especially good at dealing with these Pokemon. Where does this Rock types bit come in? especially when the most relevant Rock type that isnt also part ground is nihilego which your primarina mention isn't a check to, and also dosn't like switching in on raikou because it doesn't volt block it and is also slower than it so just gest volted on if trying to force it out. Also please give specific examples like i said here, ie Rhyp / krookodile offensively checking you.
  • Raikou greatly appreciates hazard support from Pokemon like Mew, which allows it to wear down its checks and make KOing them easier. Preferably make this a bit more specific, eg. spikes support rom mew, and a few examples of checks it helps pressure like Tangrowth. Its less "making KOing them easier" too but more that you are wearing them down and negating Regen off them tbh.

  • Substitute and Calm Mind can be used to give Raikou some extra breaking power, with either Scald or Aura Sphere (preferably the latter to hit Zarude and wear down Rhyperior) instead of writing it like this just explain the benefits that each of teh coverage moves brings as the coverage move, but in a metagame infested with AV Tangrowth, it is very hard to make this set work.
  • Also mention a Calm Mind + Volt Switch set which has seen some use in UUFPL etc, but comment on the huge 4mss issues this faces.
  • Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those mons and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Out of all of Raikou's coverage moves, Tangrowth only takes neutral damage from Aura Sphere, and can take those well due to commonly running Assault Vest. Amoonguss resists all of Raikou's coverage moves, allowing it to wall Raikou with ease. Zarude can easily wall most of Raikou's attacks and, if holding a Choice Scarf, easily pivot out on it with U-Turn. The former two Pokemon also have Regenerator, which means that they are not punished as hard by Raikou's Volt Switch.

**Ground-types**: Scarf Krookodile, Scarf Diggersby, I'm not sure if i missed this in other places so please check, but this should be Choice Scarf not just Scarf for Analyses (GP thing) and Zygarde-10% can all outspeed Raikou and easily use their super-effective moves to OHKO it. Rhyperior can also serve as a major threat if it is at high HP and if Raikou is not running Scald, and even if Raikou is running Scald, Rhyperior can scare it out if its HP is high enough.

**Kommo-o**: Kommo-o either resists or is immune to (if running Bulletproof) all of Raikou's main attacking moves. can add something along the lines of "although physical and mixed sets must be wary of being burnt by Scald".

**Chansey**: Chansey's enormous special bulk allows it to wall Raikou, even if Raikou has Aura Sphere. However, it does not like switching into Volt Switch, especially when hazards are up.

[OVERVIEW]

  • With its solid Special Attack, Speed and good special bulk, Raikou is able to make a name for itself as a solid offensive pivot that can counter check (A counter is something that can switch into and 1v1 the opposing Pokemon, Raikou is just a revenge killer for these threats) tier staples like Lycanroc-D, Thundurus, and Keldeo.
  • Access to Scald and Aura Sphere along with its STAB Thunderbolt gives Raikou near-perfect coverage against the entire metagame. This coverage, along with its stats and access to Volt Switch, makes Raikou a solid choice for an offensive pivot
  • However, (You should only use however when you are continuing a point, not when you are starting one) Raikou lacks a form of reliable recovery, giving it a disadvantage against common Pokemon like Scizor, Salamence, and Rotom-H. (This is not necessarily wrong, but i think its too specific, no recovery makes Raikou worse against the majority of the metagame. I would just mention how because of this it functions defensively as a revenge killer only, and that it is very reliant on its Heavy-Duty Boots to stay healthy)
  • Raikou is also outclassed as fast Electric-type by Thundurus, which can use Nasty Plot to boost its stats, has better stronger (You mentioned that Raikou's coverage is near-perfect earlier, i think this is what you were trying to say since Scald and Aura Sphere are only 80BP) coverage, can use U-turn as a pivoting move to prevent being blocked by Ground-types, and can use Knock Off to cripple Pokemon like AV Tangrowth that completely wall Raikou. Raikou heavily struggles with (It does not fully wall you if you run Toxic on it)
  • Raikou's subpar physical bulk means that it is easily threatened by several physical attackers who it cannot OHKO, like Krookodile and Mamoswine.

[SET]

(This just sounds awkward and unnecessary, use more easily instead of it or leave it blank, both work)
  • Aura Sphere is especially useful for Raikou as it allows it to hit Zarude, which completely walls it otherwise.
  • Scald can be used to hit Rhyperior for extra damage, as well as spreading status to it checks, like Tangrowth.
  • Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switchins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald, as well as chip damaging Rhyperior in the absence of Scald.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Raikou from taking chip hazard (hazards are only one form of chip damage, so this is just wrong phrasing) damage, allowing it to avoid one of its biggest weaknesses as well as increasing its pivoting capabilities.
Paragraph 2
  • This Raikou set works best on VoltTurn and bulky offense teams that appreciate Raikou's high Speed tier and its ability to check both Thundurus forms Thundurus (Raikou really cannot do much to Thundurus-T, and a +2 Psychic or Focus Blast do a lot of damage) and Lycanroc-D.
Noivern can help counter Grass- and Ground-types like Amoonguss, Krookodile,. and Diggersby for Raikou, while Raikou can deal with Steel-types like Celesteela for Noivern. (Merge this together with the point above, you are still talking about a Flying-type, and the part about being a fast partner is not relevant enough, Raikou is supposed to act as speed control anyway)
  • Fighting-types like Keldeo, Conkeldurr, and Kommo-o are great as partners because Raikou can easily being them in against special walls like Tangrowth (Change this mention, Conkeldurr does not appreciate taking a Power Whip, and Keldeo just dies to it) and Chansey, which they can then take out. Keldeo is an especially good partner for Raikou, as together they can overwhelm their shared checks, such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss.
  • Rock- and Ground-types Ice-types, such as Nihilego and Mamoswine is a are good partners for Raikou because it they can take out Dragon and Grass-types, such as Salamence and Tangrowth, that completely wall it.
  • Counters to Ground-types, particularly Rhyperior and Krookodile, are greatly appreciated, especially if Raikou is not running Scald. Water-types, such as Primarina and Keldeo, Grass-types, such as Zarude and Tangrowth, (The Water-types do not appreciate taking an Earthquake) are especially good at dealing with these Pokemon.
  • Raikou greatly appreciates hazard support from Pokemon like Mew, which allows it to wear down its checks like Tangrowth by negating their Regenerator healing..

  • A Calm Mind + Volt Switch set can be used to combined the power given by boosting with the pressure the pivot set puts on foes, but this set suffers from severe 4MSS and is thus hard to make work. (You can ignore this correction for sure, but this sounds straight up inferior to the pivot set and the CM set too, you are basically dropping coverage and getting nothing in return)
  • Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those Pokemons (Something i have noticed is that a lot of these errors could be fixed by taking a look at the analysis after finishing it, just an advice that would really help you) and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters

**Grass-types**: Out of all of Raikou's coverage moves, Tangrowth only takes neutral damage from Aura Sphere, and can take those well due to commonly running Assault Vest. The former two Pokemon also have Regenerator, which means that they are not punished as hard by Raikou's Volt Switch.

**Ground-types**: Choice Scarf Krookodile, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Zygarde-10% can all outspeed (Change this or the Zygarde-10% mention, it only speed ties Raikou) Raikou and easily use their super-effective moves to OHKO it. **Kommo-o**: Kommo-o either resists or is immune to (if running Bulletproof) all of Raikou's main attacking moves, although physical and mixed sets do have to worry about being burned by Scald. (You can also mention it has no reliable recovery, and thus cannot take multiple Volt Switches)

**Chansey**: Chansey's enormous special bulk allows it to wall Raikou, even if Raikou has Aura Sphere. However, it does not like switching into Volt Switch, especially when hazards are up.

Also, this really doesn't have to be restricted to Fighting-types. Literally any wallbreaker would work fine here if it pressures its checks. Nihilego can be moved into your next point about luring Ground-types with Grass Knot. Try not to tunnel on typings for every point. If you want to list partners that bring something in safely you'd say pivots rather than Electric-types or something that breaks you can just say wallbreakers rather than X-typing can remove etc. It gives you way more freedom to include more diverse partners doing this.

Use Seismitoad instead.

With its solid Special Attack, Speed some emphasis on the speed would prob help, it's a huge reason raikou is viable (maybe say "a Speed stat that outpaces almost the entire tier" here) and good special bulk, Raikou is able to make a name for itself as a solid offensive pivot that can check tier staples like Lycanroc-D, Thundurus, and Keldeo. Access to Scald and Aura Sphere swap these bc scald is a slash along with its STAB Thunderbolt gives Raikou near-perfect coverage against the entire metagame. This coverage, along with its stats and access to Volt Switch, makes Raikou a solid choice for an offensive pivot. Raikou lacks a form of reliable recovery, which forces it to function mainly as a revenge killer and makes it overly reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots. Raikou is also outclassed as fast Electric-type by Thundurus it faces competition moreso than being outclassed, outclassed would mean there's no rzn to use raikou over thundy. you can just say thundy gives it competition and then say at the end it separates itself with a better Speed tier and special bulk, which can use Nasty Plot to boost its stats true but np thundy is rare and this line seems to focus more on the competition it faces as a pivot, even then raikou can use cm like you said in OO if it really wants to boost, has stronger coverage moves, can use U-turn as a pivoting move to prevent being blocked by Ground-types, and can use Knock Off to cripple Pokemon like AV Tangrowth that Raikou greatly struggles with. Raikou's subpar physical bulk means that it is easily threatened by several physical attackers who it cannot OHKO, like Krookodile and Mamoswine.

add it struggles with common defensive mons like amoong and chansey; i'd prob mention this as the first negative (before lacking a form of reliable recovery)

Paragraph 1

Thunderbolt is the main attacking move of the set, being a STAB move and Raikou's main method of pressuring Pokemon like Thundurus and Scizor. Volt Switch turns Raikou into a fast offensive pivot, allowing it to make progress and bring its teammates onto the field. Aura Sphere is especially useful for Raikou as it allows it to hit Zarude, which completely walls it otherwise. Scald allows Raikou to hit Nidoqueen, another Pokemon that completely walls it otherwise. It can also be used to hit Rhyperior for extra damage and is Raikou's best move against Thundurus-T, as well as being able to spread status to its checks, like Tangrowth. Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switchins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald, as well as chip damaging Rhyperior in the absence of Scald. Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Raikou from taking hazard damage, allowing it to avoid one of its biggest weaknesses as well as increasing its pivoting capabilities.

Paragraph 2

This Raikou set works best on VoltTurn and bulky offense teams that appreciate Raikou's high Speed tier and its ability to check Thundurus and Lycanroc-D. Flying types like Salamence, Noivern, and Moltres are greatly appreciated as partners for this set, as they can take out Kommo-o and Tangrowth, two of this set's best switch-ins, with ease, and provide more reliable checks to Scizor they mu well against them but they'll never be able to just take them out bc the opponent can switch them out to avoid that. i'd just say here pivots like noivern/moltres are good partners bc of their pivoting skills then somewhere later mention salamence gives you a way to overwhelm av reun/gbro and mew. Moltres can also form a VoltTurn core with Raikou. Noivern especially is a great partner for this Raikou set, as they form an extremely fast pivoting duo that can bring each other and other threats in with ease. Noivern can help counter Grass- and Ground-types like Amoonguss, Krookodile, and Diggersby for Raikou, while Raikou can deal with Steel-types like Celesteela for Noivern i'd just remove this line bc noivern doesn't really counter any of those mons since amoong can just switch out/ take a hit and spore while krook and diggersby either knock off its boots or dent it a lot with a normal-type STAB respectively. Powerful wallbreakers, like Keldeo, Nihilego, and Mamoswine, appreciate Raikou bringing them in safely against its checks mention the checks (such as chansey, amoong, and av tangrowth respectively), which they can then take out pressure. Keldeo is an especially good partner for Raikou, as together they can overwhelm their shared checks, such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss. Pokemon that can remove pivot into Ground-types, particularly Rhyperior, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon, are greatly appreciated, especially if Raikou is not running Scald. Grass-types, such as Zarude and Tangrowth, are especially good at dealing with these Pokemon. Raikou greatly appreciates hazard support from Pokemon like Mew, which allows it to wear down its checks like Tangrowth in combination with Volt Switch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Substitute and Calm Mind can be used to give Raikou some extra breaking power with either Scald or Aura Sphere swap these again, preferably the latter to hit Zarude and wear down Rhyperior scald does this too so this reads kind of odd, maybe say "while retaining coverage on rhyperior"?, as the coverage move, but in a metagame infested with AV Tangrowth, it is very hard to make this set work. Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those Pokemon and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Choice Scarf Krookodile, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Zygarde-10% can all outspeed or speedtie Raikou and easily use their super-effective moves to OHKO it. Rhyperior can also serve as a major threat and can scare it out if its HP is high enough; however, it does have to be extremely way of Scald. Gastrodon and Seismitoad are able to completely wall Raikou with ease mention they fear toxic.

**Kommo-o**: Kommo-o either resists or is immune to all of Raikou's main attacking moves, although physical and mixed sets do have to worry about being burned by Scald. It also has no reliable recovery, and thus gets worn down easily by multiple Volt Switches and potentially toxic. mention it can use raikou as setup fodder w clangsoul sets

**Chansey**: Chansey's enormous special bulk allows it to wall Raikou, even if Raikou has Aura Sphere. However, it does not like switching into Volt Switch, especially when hazards are up. make this entire section special tanks and bring up av reun/gbro as well as mew bc they all take 0 from attacks. mention av reun/mew dislike toxic if raikou is running it

It can also be used to hit Rhyperior for extra damage and spread status to checks like Tangrowth, and it is Raikou's best move against Thundurus-T, as well as being able to spread status to its checks, like Tangrowth. Toxic allows Raikou to cripple switch-ins like Tangrowth and Kommo-o that resist both Thunderbolt and Scald, and to cripple Rhyperior in the absence of Scald.

The latter two form powerful pivoting cores with Raikou, while the former can overwhelm powerful special walls, (RC) such as Assault Vest Reuniclus, Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, and Mew for Raikou. Substitute and Calm Mind can be used to give Raikou some extra breaking power with either Aura Sphere or Scald (preferably the latter to hit Zarude while still being able to hit Rhyperior) as the coverage move, but in a metagame infested with Assault Vest Tangrowth, it is very hard to make this set work. **Ground-types**: Choice Scarf Krookodile, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Zygarde-10% can all outspeed or Speed tie Raikou and easily use their super effective moves to OHKO it. Rhyperior can also serve as a major threat and can scare Raikou out if its HP is high enough; however, it does have to be extremely wary of Scald. Gastrodon and Seismitoad are able to completely wall Raikou with ease, though they do fear Toxic.

**Kommo-o**: Kommo-o either resists or is immune to all of Raikou's attacking moves and can easily turn it into setup fodder if it is running a Clangorous Soul set, although physical and mixed sets do have to worry about being burned by Scald.

[SET]
name: Offensive Pivot
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Aura Sphere
move 4: Scald / Toxic
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Pressure
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Thunderbolt is Raikou's main method of pressuring Pokemon like Thundurus and Scizor. Volt Switch turns Raikou into a fast offensive pivot, allowing it to make progress and bring its teammates onto the field. Aura Sphere is especially useful, as it allows Raikou to hit Zarude, which completely walls it otherwise. Scald allows Raikou to hit Nidoqueen, another Pokemon that completely walls it otherwise.

The latter two form powerful pivoting cores with Raikou, while the former can overwhelm powerful special walls, (RC) such as Assault Vest Reuniclus, Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, and Mew for Raikou.

Other Options
=============

Extrasensory can be used to prevent getting walled by Kommo-o and Amoonguss, but it only hits those Pokemon and thus greatly limits Raikou's coverage.

Checks and Counters
===================
