Welcome to Week 1 of Random Battles Team Tour VI, where 8 teams will compete for the title of RBTT Champion as well as a custom avatar another prize TBD, because RBTT VI is now officially the largest tournament to ever take place on the Pokémon Showdown! subforum, and every team was granted avatars!

Tournament Rules
  • The tournament will consist of 8 teams battling it out in a round-robin format over 7 weeks; after that, the 4 best teams overall will move onto playoffs.
  • Each series will be played as best-of-3.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokémon Showdown.
  • Do not make baseless activity posts. After good-faith efforts to contact your opponent, report missed times & scheduling issues only.
  • Replays of the matches must be posted to verify a win; if replays are not posted, the match doesn't count.
General Tournament Rules
  • Scheduling: Players should contact their opponents on their Smogon profiles as soon as possible. It is strongly advised to schedule publicly, on Smogon, so hosts can review in the case of possible activity calls. If a player cannot reach their opponent, they should inform their managers quickly, so necessary substitutions can be made. If players have not made visible contact, managers and hosts may make substitutions.
  • Timer Clause and Disconnections: The timer is not required to be on during games; however, if the timer is on and a player runs out of time, their opponent wins the game via timeout. If a player disconnects and thus times out, this also counts as a loss for the player who disconnected.
  • Do not ghost. As of recent tournaments-forum rules, this also includes calcing for teammates that are playing, so please do not delegate doing calcs to your teammates when you play.
    What constitutes ghosting in a Random Battles game can be a particularly fine line. Before speaking in chat, always ask yourself: “Would my comment reveal information that hasn’t already been explicitly revealed in this battle?” Examples of ghosting include suggesting that an unexpectedly fast Pokemon must be holding a Choice Scarf, that a disguised Zoroark’s level proves it’s a Zoroark, etc.

Gen 9 Random Battle: Michielleus vs Glop - Glop has topped the Gen 9 ladder a few times and has demonstrated excellent skills in most of the fairy core gen formats (not to mention Gen 3 and whatnot). Michielleus is also a great player but I've seen greater performance from Glop. Should be a good match.
Gen 8 Random Battle: peap vs pokeblade101 - both great players, but pokeblade is pokeblade. Don't choke though.
Gen 7 Random Battle: ajhockeystar vs LordST - LordST has won many great matchups in Gen 7 across the past few RBTTs. I wouldn't count aj out though, he's great as well.
Gen 6 Random Battle: Petros vs Buhrito - Petros is the OG goat. I've seen him play Gen 5 and HC primarily but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes undefeated in Gen 6.
Gen 4 Random Battle: PrinceofallTacos vs Dj Breloominati - He is the poat of Gen 4.
Gen 3 Random Battle: HeadsIloseTailsYouWin vs xGang - I genuinely do not know. These two are just clashingly good at Gen 3. This will be the fight of the century. I choose xGang by coinflip using /pick.
Gen 1 Random Battle: Rage vs nicomirra123 - Not familiar with the Gen 1 playerbase, but from experience, Rage knows the gen inside out. He's got this.
Gen 9 Hackmons Cup: Fragments vs platinumCheesecake - Both are outstanding, I think I just recall Frag lasting on longer runs in this format. This is a gonna be a tough series.
Gen 8 Battle Factory: Regnite vs kythr - Recognize them from before (biased).
Gen 8 BSS Factory: STABLE vs luisin - I heard a lot about STABLE, but luisin will definitely put up a strong fight.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: snorlax142857 vs Memoric - Memoric's proven to be outstanding on more occasions, but I also wouldn't count lax out.
Gen 9 Monotype Random Battle: Thiago Nunes vs Lucas - I recognize neither for their performance in this format, so here's a toss.

Gen 9 Random Battle: shiloh vs Fant'sy Beast - This is a decent matchup. I've seen beast's performance more often, however.
Gen 8 Random Battle: Zap vs Piyush - Both are renowned in the format, but I recall Piyush from the ladder more often. Wouldn't count the other out.
Gen 7 Random Battle: bobomania vs GaryAjax - Tough one, once again.
Gen 6 Random Battle: Tomahawk vs Blui - Tomahawk is famous for his feat in Gen 5 the past two rbtts, and I'm certain he can translate his skills to Gen 6.
Gen 4 Random Battle: TheFranklin vs Jytcampbell - Not an easy one to decide, but I think TheFranklin by a margin.
Gen 3 Random Battle: Chains of Markox vs trace - Looking forward to seeing trace play Gen 3 after playing BSSF for a while. I know Markov personally from his code contributions so it's kind of biased.
Gen 1 Random Battle: YBW vs Panty&Stockings - I recognize YBW from his solid performance in Gen 1.
Gen 9 Hackmons Cup: Shadows4 vs Nudepantsman - Both renowned, but Shadows plays HC like an expert plays chess.
Gen 8 Battle Factory: temp vs crying - his streams will energize him for victory.
Gen 8 BSS Factory: Emboar02 vs DEF - Emboar's really good at this format, have yet to see DEF.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: odr vs jackofspadesman - One of those unparalleled doubles player; knows the format inside out.
Gen 9 Monotype Random Battle: 6roggenrolas vs ninjadog - I had ninja on my team and I'm sure he knows his way through this format. Still wouldn't count 6rog out.

Gen 9 Random Battle: Separation vs LosConosciuto - Losco's been consistently adapting to new fairy core-gens. He's got this, but wouldn't count the other out.
Gen 8 Random Battle: BoRida vs Sylveon used Calm Mind - This is a really good matchup but given Boris' record last season, I cannot vote against him. Very calculated player and knows his MU's well.
Gen 7 Random Battle: RSB vs Betathunder - One of the OG Gen 7 players. Can't vote against.
Gen 6 Random Battle: Xceloh vs Micaiah - I recall Xceloh performing more often.
Gen 4 Random Battle: Damm u Captcha vs SMB - Good matchup, going with SMB however.
Gen 3 Random Battle: Amaranth vs Freezai - Ama won already, but I assure you I was going to vote them anyway. Absolutely outstanding Gen 3 player.
Gen 1 Random Battle: tylerfitz8 vs Mikon - Recognize tyler from their decent performance last year.
Gen 9 Hackmons Cup: ZDL vs Chiori - Chiori got robbed from me. Very impressive HC player, cannot vote against.
Gen 8 Battle Factory: jonfilch vs Wigglytuff - Very good matchup, going with someone whom I recall defeated some real tough players last season.
Gen 8 BSS Factory: papiloco vs Mishimono - Recognize them from BSS staff and they strike me as one who knows the format inside out, and knows their MU's well.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: Chris32156 vs teresbahji - I don't know how either performs in dubs, but I'm more familiar with teres; he has a lot of gaming experience.
Gen 9 Monotype Random Battle: soTsoT vs Hayburner - Tough one! Going with soTsoT who's famously good at rands formats.

Gen 4 Random Battle: Celever vs Trade - Trade is a former teammate but I’m backing my fellow Brit Celly
Gen 3 Random Battle: London13 vs Ereshkigal - Another Brit; like Arsenal I predict London will be flying high
Gen 1 Random Battle: Luchik vs Leru - Gen I know best so hopefully my predictions for RBY reflect that. I expect Luchik to win. They come off a sensational year in the RBY rands scene, winning a big tour and making finals of a couple other tournaments

Gen 9 Random Battle: Xeizar vs JJ09LIE - JJ09LIE is a newer rbtt face but has shown strong dominance in WCOR and on the ladders, shoud be a pretty tight match though

Hi I haven't rlly paid attention to other games outside of Koraidon I'm def gonna incorrectly predict a game that has happened lol

Gen 9 Random Battle: Michielleus vs Glop - I can believe Glop could beat Michi but I've never seen him in gen 9. Michi is fr a current gen (and general all-rounder) GOAT so it's hard to predict against W1
Gen 8 Random Battle: peap vs pokeblade101 - It's blade playing gen 8 lol I believe he will win if he is in the right mindset vs 95% of players
Gen 7 Random Battle: ajhockeystar vs LordST - At the start of the competition I tend to view specialists as having the upper hand against all-rounders, until the all-rounders prove themselves. This is an example of that.
Gen 6 Random Battle: Petros vs Buhrito - CRUST rule Buhrito is one of those that I think knows gen 6 inside out whereas I believe Petros is a "good at current gens and that applies to 6" slot which are a little different. I think Buhrito can overturn the former king of rands if they have a great handle on gen 6.
Gen 4 Random Battle: PrinceOfAllTacos vs Dj Breloominati♬ - I love my boy Spitfire but POAT has more experience in this format AFAIK, and gen 4 is very unique as far as rands is concerned. I would love to see Spitfire do well in gen 4 after the death of gen 5 though
Gen 3 Random Battle: HeadsILoseTailsYouWin vs xGang - xGang had an off year last time but that doesn't mean this year will be the same. xGang on a good day is historically able to thwart just about any opposition
Gen 1 Random Battle: Rage vs nicomirra123 - I am unfamiliar with nicomirra. I trust that the Yvels cast a great slot here, but I know for sure that Rage is a great slot for gen 1.
Gen 9 Hackmons Cup: Fragments vs platinumCheesecake - This is one of the biggest toss-ups of the week, two HC GOATs in HC which is innatley high variance. Giving it to Platty bc I think their historical track record is a bit better.
Gen 8 Battle Factory: Regnite vs kythr - Happened
Gen 8 BSS Factory: STABLE vs luisin - I think STABLE is a bit of a wildcard in this format and in bssf being a wildcard holds a lot of stock tbh. luisin may be felled by playing too by the book with their internalised skill.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: snorlax142857 vs Memoric - Similar story here; from what I remember Memoric is better at making gambits that work out than snorlaxnumbers, whereas in a vanilla / honest game snorlaxnumbers will beat just about anyone in this format. This is a battle I would love to watch live.
Gen 9 Monotype Random Battle: Thiago Nunes vs Lucas2543 - While it's mono and therefore things might just get decided by rolling teams, I think Thiago is a little more tenacious than Lucas when faced with a bad matchup. That is worth a lot in mono.

Gen 9 Random Battle: shiloh vs Fant'sy Beast - Fant'sy is definitely a proven top tier in gen 9 atm. I would predict him to beat most, and I'm unfamiliar with shiloh.
Gen 8 Random Battle: Zap vs Piyush25 - Zap is an excellent gen 8 specialist and has grown into that format greatly. Piyush certainly has a shot, but I think Zap has the upper hand.
Gen 7 Random Battle: bobomania vs GaryAjax - More of a specialist in the format than bobo afaik. This should be tight but Ajax has an edge.
Gen 6 Random Battle: Tomahawk vs Blui - I think Blui has a little more experience in rands specifically than Tomahawk does. This is another battle I would love to watch live though, I think this is gonna be a close showdown of some GOATs.
Gen 4 Random Battle: TheFranklin vs Jytcampbell - This is a situation where I am betting against the person maining the format in favour of the all-rounder, but I also stared at Hoopas' draft for about 10 minutes trying to work out who their gen 4 slot could be and considering how early Franklin went in draft I believe they probably communicated gen 4 practice in the pre-draft. If that wasn't the case jyt probably has a slight edge, but Franklin is also just very good at Pokémon
Gen 3 Random Battle: Chains of Markov vs trace - Markov is an excellent lad but trace has expertise in gen 3, and personally I find gen 3 to be the most dissimilar gen to any other rands format. I wasn't aware that Markov was a gen 3 specialist if he is, but trace has also been a gen 3 (rands) specialist for several years before Markov either way.
Gen 1 Random Battle: YBW vs Panty&Stockings - I have to vouch for my fellow Brit and consistent win producer YBW. Gen 1 is another format where being a specialist is a huge benefit, especially early into the tournament.
Gen 9 Hackmons Cup: Shadows4 vs Nudepantsman - From what I recall, I believe shadows has exhibited greater ingenuity in HC. That isn't always relevant for a RBTT series, but if it is this time around, I think it gives shadows a slight advantage.
Gen 8 Battle Factory: temp vs crying - This is the mu in this series that I'm most uncertain of tbh. temp is straight up clinical in his approach to BF, but I view crying as an adaptible enough player to potentially create advantages out of that playstyle that they perhaps wouldn't create against more of a loose cannon. Another series I would love to watch live.
Gen 8 BSS Factory: Emboar02 vs DEG - TBH I am unfamiliar with DEG but afaik Emboar has minimal history in BSSF. Between a bit of a rogue pick and an all-rounder without much specific experience I think I am trusting in Frosty and artic to have chosen well.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: odr vs jackofspadesman - odr's playstyle and randdubs are a great combination and I believe they will be a huge threat throughout this tournament in this format. Honestly, keen to see this play out since 8 randdubs is basically my secondary format.
Gen 9 Monotype Random Battle: 6Roggenrolas vs ninjadog - AFAIK 6Rog specialises in older formats, which is nice for a mbox/sub slot but ninjadog is more familiar with the modern day. Again, it's mono, this is innately a toss-up, but I think ninjadog's slightly greater familiarity will serve them well.

Gen 9 Random Battle: Separation vs LoSconosciuto - It is rands GOAT LoSco at the end of the day, they have the upper hand on most players in most formats
Gen 8 Random Battle: BoRida vs Sylveon used calm mind - I like BoRida's chances here greatly. When they have time to truly consider and plan out their moves, I think they become extremely threatening
Gen 7 Random Battle: RSB vs Betathunder - RSBOAT is an extremely impressive all-rounder, but Beta is a highly skilled 7 specialist so atm I would give it ot them
Gen 6 Random Battle: Xceloh vs Micaiah - Happened
Gen 4 Random Battle: El químico del pueblucho vs SMB - I think quimico is a little better at playing with a bad hand than SMB. This is extremely useful in gen 4, where almost any mon can fulfil almost any role as long as you use them right and with a purpose. That skill is particularly transferrable to a fairly even game in gen 4 compared with toher formats.

Gen 1 Random Battle: tylerfitz8 vs Mikon - This is a strong toss-up and this could easily go either way, but I'm leaning Nessa mainly because our own gen 1 GOAT luchik has said so a couple posts above. Another game I would love to catch live

Gen 8 Battle Factory: jonfilch vs Wigglytuff - just have more faith in jonfilch here tbh I think they're consistently great at bf and tours in general
Gen 8 BSS Factory: papiloco vs Mishimono - I honestly am not familiar with Mishimono at all, whereas papiloco is proven nice in this format.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: Chris32156 vs teresbahji - Teres is obviously amazing at every format, and dubs is one of his strengths at that
Gen 9 Monotype Random Battle: soTsoT vs Hayburner - I am also unfamiliar with Hayburner but familiar with soTsoT as a dub bringer

So what have we learned today folks? I guess I think this draft ended up pretty even lmao. 3 ties >_> I swear I did matchups in isolation and counted after I did them all :|
