This is part of a project to get rid of the poor quality, misinformation-ridden RBY analyses from over a decade ago. These works are low-priority and should be treated as such.

[OVERVIEW]

Rapidash has good Attack, decent Special, and great Speed, but it struggles to make an impact in the Tentacruel-ridden metagame. Its Speed gives it a 20.5% critical hit rate and lets it notably outpace Tentacruel, giving it a good shot at dealing with it during Wrap chains, and letting it pivot to a teammate like Dugtrio or Persian with Fire Spin. Its critical hit rate is boosted further by Agility, letting it use Fire Spin to exert heavy pressure on unequipped teams.

Rapidash suffers from lacking coverage options outside of Normal-type attacks. Furthermore, it struggles against Water-types like Omastar, Tentacruel, and Gyarados when the shakily accurate Fire Spin misses. Rapidash is also prone to getting hit with Toxic due to Pokemon already running it for Draognite. Rapidash faces heavy competition from Moltres, which can switch into Earthquake from Dugtrio and Kangaskhan and get more damage off with Fire Blast and Fire Spin. Rapidash also faces heavy competition from Dragonite, which has the more accurate Wrap, a better typing, more bulk, and similar Agility sweeping potential.

[SET]
name: AgiliSpin
move 1: Fire Blast
move 2: Fire Spin
move 3: Hyper Beam / Body Slam
move 4: Agility / Body Slam

[SET COMMENTS]

Rapidash should use Fire Spin to wear down the opposing team, as it outpaces a good portion of the metagame and ties with Kadabra, and finishing worn-down Pokemon off with Fire Blast and Hyper Beam. Fire Blast 2HKOes Articuno and Dodrio, OHKOes Pinsir, and fishes for a burn against Wrap users; a burn cripples Dragonite and forces Tentacruel to use Rest early. Rapidash should be wary about using Fire Spin against Dugtrio due to its shaky accuracy, but Rapidash can take care of Dugtrio with Hyper Beam after wearing it down to 60%. Body Slam is an option over Hyper Beam or Agility paralyzing switch-ins like Vaporeon and Tentacruel, and reduce risk when using Fire Spin against Dugtrio, but sacrifices dealing more damage with Hyper Beam or negating paralysis's Speed drop with Agility. Hyper Beam is for finishing off a Pokemon after it gets worn down by Fire Spin and does more damage than Fire Blast to Pokemon like Persian, Raichu, and Kadaba. Agility should be used after Rapidash gets paralyzed, or to punish a Pokemon using Rest and start using completely uncontested Fire Spin.

Stomp is an alternative that goes well on paralysis spam teams with partners like Hypno and Dragonite using Thunder Wave, as it makes Rapidash able to go for paraflinch. Toxic is Rapidash's only way to deal with Dragonite.

Thought I'd pitch in with some ideas to get you started;
  • Generally outclassed by Moltres, especially in RBY UU, so you will need to establish this throughout. It does, however, have some alternative uses. The main one being better Speed to start off with so it doesn't constantly need to set up, as well as having a much better crit rate (20.5%).
  • Faster AgiliSpin user than Moltres, though it doesn't often come into play. The big benefit is that Rapidash can use Fire Spin without boosting with relative consistency, as it's faster than Tentacruel.
  • Gets Body Slam and Stomp, so it can spread paralysis or paraflinch opposing teams
  • STAB Fire Blast funny 30% burn etc etc
  • Fast Toxic for Dragonite, I guess
  • "imagine being a fire in RBY UU kekw"
  • Unlike Moltres, Rapidash is food for Dugtrio
  • Has the RBY Fire movepool which is one of the most depressing things ever conceived by Game Freak
Imo the set is FSpin/FB/HB/Agility with Tox, BSlam and Stomp as OO. However, you could prolly slash BSlam with FB. Don't be afraid to play around though, this mon is more flexible than people give it credit for.

Use the One VS All Calculator with your Rapidash set, you'll need to add quite a few examples. It's less straightforward than it looks, I promise.

Overview
Rapidash has an ok Special, good Attack, and a great speed tier, that after using Agility it can outpace the whole metagame and chip down Pokemon with Fire Spin.
This can be ordered and worded better. Here's my idea;
Rapidash has a good Attack stat and decent Special, coupled with a great Speed tier. This Speed gives it a 20.5% critical hit rate and lets it notably outpace Tentacruel unboosted, giving it a good shot at dealing with it during Wrap chains. This can be further boosted by Agility, which combined with access to Fire Spin, allows it to exert heavy pressure on unequipped teams.
Rapidash is outclassed by Moltres however, due to its Flying typing, better Special, allowing it to come in against an Earthquake from Dugtrio and Kangaskhan, and get more damage off with Fire Blast and Fire Spin.
It's not outclassed but in heavy competition. I'd argue that Rapidash's Speed and better Hyper Beam gives it a solid niche in the revenge killing department. They operate quite differently.

It also struggles against Pokemon if Fire Spin misses due to its shaky accuracy like Omastar, Tentacruel, and Gyarados, as these can greatly damage Rapidash. It also suffers from having a lackluster movepool, as it lacks coverage options outside of Normal-type attacks like most Fire-types.
The latter sentence contradicts its competition with Moltres - they both have this issue - this should be a second paragraph because of that.

Mention that the omnipresence of Toxic as a result of Dragonite's presence cocks it up. It's really, really annoying and Rapidash gets forced out due to it.

Set
Name it "AgiliSpin" or "Agility + Fire Spin".

Reorder to Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Hyper Beam, Agility.
Slash Body Slam over Hyper Beam and Agility, after extensive testing I'd say Fire Blast is undroppable.

Set Details
Rapidash should try to setup with Agility and use Fire Spin to wear down the opposing team, and take care of them with Fire Blast or Hyper Beam. After an Agility allows Rapidash to outpace all of the metagame, therefore letting it trap fast Pokemon such as Dugtrio and Perisan.
Hold your horses, partner. Rapidash doesn't need to set up outright at all, that Speed stat is incredible as-is: it ties Kadabra and can even kill it after a couple of spins. This is a big distinction to make compared to Moltres, and is why I'm saying they operate so differently. You should mention that Agility lets it get rid of the paralysis speed drop primarily, as that's a big reason you use it.

It should be wary about using Fire Spin against Dugtrio however, due to its shaky accuracy.
You need to explain why: it gets 2HKOed by Earthquake. Note that Hyper Beam deals more damage than Fire Blast in this department, Rapidash can fight it off.

Fire Blast allows Rapidash to take care of Tangela and Articuno and do decent damage to Pokemon like Dodrio while fishing for a burn chance.
Ohoho man, it does far more than that. Note that burns absolutely fuck Wrap up, this is huge for dealing with Tentacruel, Dragonite, fuck, even Pinsir and Tangela. Pretty much every Wrap user just can't switch into that thing. The damage against stuff like Dodrio is nothing to sniff at either, it's a clean 2HKO. You need to calc this up, my guy, it's a big draw to this Pokemon. Even if Rapidash is being sacked against Tentacruel, it can still go for the burn and leave it in a horrid spot.

Body Slam is an option over Fire Blast to try to spread paralysis on Pokemon like Vaporeon and Tentacruel that try to switch onto its attacks, and takes less risk of using Fire Spin to trap Dugtrio.
Change according to how I went over the set.

Hyper Beam is for finishing off a Pokemon after it gets worn down by Fire Spin, or in range of Rapidash's Hyper Beam.
This is worded oddly. Give it a look and reword. You should also say that Hyper Beam does more damage than Fire Blast against quite a few Pokemon, you'll want to calc this too.

Stomp is an option to go well with Body Slam to go for a paraflinch, while Toxic is used to put Dragonite on a timer.
Explain this more. You're not using Stomp alongside Body Slam at all, you're doing it on ParaSpam + Wrap teams that appreciate Stomp users, as this tier has surprisingly few. Recommend it alongside Thunder Wave Dragonite and Hypno!

You absolutely need to explain Toxic more. It's used to prevent Dragonite (and to a lesser degree, Tangela and Pinsir) from using Wrap, as they take more damage than they deal due to the passive damage. New players won't understand this.

Implement and get back to me.

Rapidash has a good Attack stat and decent Special, coupled with a great Speed tier. This Speed gives it a 20.5% critical hit rate and lets it notably outpace Tentacruel unboosted, giving it a good shot at dealing with it during Wrap chains, as well as pivoting into a teammate like Dugtrio or Persian with Fire Spin. This can be further boosted by Agility, which combined with access to Fire Spin, allows it to exert heavy pressure on unequipped teams. Even without setting up, it has a 20.5% critical rate thanks to its high Speed stat, and outpace and trap Tentacruel with Fire Spin without setting up with Agility first, unllike Moltres. (This is the previous couple of sentences but again) Rapidash faces heavy competition from Moltres, due to its Flying typing, better Special, allowing it to come in against an Earthquake from Dugtrio and Kangaskhan, and get more damage off with Fire Blast and Fire Spin.

Rapidash suffers from having a lackluster movepool, as it lacks coverage options outside of Normal-type attacks like most Fire-types. Furthermore, Rapidash also struggles against Pokemon if Fire Spin misses due to its shaky accuracy, (AC) like Omastar, Tentacruel, and Gyarados, as these can greatly damage it with STAB Surf. It also suffers from having a lackluster movepool, as it lacks coverage options outside of Normal-type attacks like most Fire-types. Rapidash is forced to use Toxic due to the presence of Dragonite, as otherwise it forces Rapidash out. (You contradict yourself here as the set doesn't even have Toxic in it. I would argue this is false since you can still pivot around Dragonite or even burn it with Fire Blast, so it's not the end of the world.)

(Note that the presence of Dragonite also means that Rapidash will often be a victim of Toxic itself, as it largely does the same thing. You may also want to note that Dragonite is heavy competition for Rapidash for a similar reason: AgiliWrap. You should also emphasize that Rapidash is a very rare sight in the metagame, borderline unviable, perhaps it's a good idea to note this in the first sentence with something like "Rapidash has a good Attack stat and decent Special, coupled with a great Speed tier, but the Tentacruel-ridden metagame makes it struggle to make an impact.")

[SET]

[SET COMMENTS]

Rapidash should use Fire Spin to wear down the opposing team, as it outpaces most a good portion of the metagame and ties with Kadabra, and takes care of worn down Pokemon with Fire Blast or and Hyper Beam. Fire Blast allows Rapidash to take care of Articuno and 2HKO Dodrio while fishing for a burn chance against Wrap and Bind users like Tentacruel, Dragonite, Tangela and Pinsir, which cripples them for the rest of the game and forces a very early Rest from Tentacruel. (Tentacruel often runs Rest, which should be noted) Rapidash should be wary about using Fire Spin against Dugtrio, (AC) however, due to its shaky accuracy and gets getting 2HKOed by its Earthquake, but Rapidash can take care of Dugtrio with using Hyper Beam after wearing it down to 60%. Body Slam is an option over Hyper Beam or Agility to try to spread paralysis on Pokemon like Vaporeon and Tentacruel that try to switch onto into its attacks, and takes less risk of when using Fire Spin to trap against Dugtrio, but comes with its downsides of either not being able to do more damage to against Pokemon such as with Hyper Beam (or reword to "not being able to score early KOs with Hyper Beam) or getting rid of the paralysis Speed drop with Agility. Hyper Beam is for finishing off a Pokemon after it gets worn down by Fire Spin, and can do more against Pokemon like Persian, Raichu, and Kadaba than it can with Fire Blast. Agility should be used after it gets paralyzed to get rid of the paralysis drop, or to punish a resting Pokemon and start using a completely uncontested Fire Spin.

Stomp is an alternative option that goes well on paraspam teams with partners like Hypno and Dragonite using Thunder Wave to spread paralysis, as it makes Rapidash able to go for a paraflinch. Toxic is Rapidash's only way to deal with Dragonite, as if it connects, Dragonite will take it takes more poison damage than it deals with each Wrap each time it uses Wrap.

Overview:

I'd say keep the positives in the first paragraph and the negatives in the second paragraph. It feels kind of out of place to say it struggles and then immediately jump back into positives, know what I mean?

Set comments:

I think this is kind of a weird sentence. Fire Blast also 2HKOs Articuno so I'd mention that. Also you're not really fishing for burns on Tangela and Pinsir, you're going for the KO since it does a boatload of damage to each. Especially Pinsir which gets OHKOed the majority of the time.

After those minor changes I'd say QC 2/2
