Project RarelyUsed Teambuilding Competition: Week Fifteen - Mienshao

:Flygon::Zapdos-Galar::Empoleon::Quagsire::Cyclizar::Gengar:
CB Flygon HazStack BO
:Flygon: - Flygon stood out for me, as it compresses the role of a ground and electric resist in hazstack. And see guys? It's kinda like Slither Wing! It has eq, First Impression, U-Turn, and 35 less attack points.

:Zapdos-Galar: - A knocker that deals with ches, Umbreon, and mamo in a pinch. Tera steel is for flying and mamo's Ice Shard.

:Empoleon: - Puts less strain on gapdos by checking garde, as well as arma and hippo. Grass Knot nails volc and improves the teams mu against water/ground mons.

:Quagsire: - My gastro looks funny. Handles setup sweepers and sets up Spikes. Ice Punch means it doesn't get walled by flying mons, but it can be replaced with Toxic to put timers on setup sweepers and gapdos.

:Cyclizar: - Special wall, phazer, knocker, you get the drill.

:Gengar: - Spinblocker and checks cm psychic sweepers. Should be used late game when Flygon, gapdos, and hazards worn down the opposing team. Tera Dark for Sucker Punch, psychic, and Prankster twaves.

Torterra Pivot Spam BO
:torterra: :bellibolt: :jirachi: :zapdos galar: :cyclizar: :basculegion f:

This team is centered around torterra, who I believe is an underrated threat in the tier, as its ability to wreck teams after a single shell smash boost is par to none. I combined it with bellibolt, who takes advantage of gapdos which torterra commonly struggles with and torterra can take advantage of the grounds and steels that bellibolt can sometimes struggle with. Jirachi is the rocker of the team, and can lock in targets with encore. Gapdos is the speed control, does gapdos things. Cyclizar is the removal of the team, and hersculegion is the big breaker of the team.

Congratulations to Heatranator for winning this weeks teambuilding competition. Your team will be added to the HOF.

:sv/wo chien: Week 14 Wo-Chien :sv/wo chien:
1755497250873.png

Surprised that we haven't done this one in the history of RU teambuilding comp, but this week we have Wo-Chien, the (unfortunately) worst Ruinious legendary of the quartet. With its Grass-Dark typing, Wo-Chien finds its way as a high tier Pokemon in RU, despite the fact it is ranked PU currently. With Leech Seed+Knock Off, Wo-Chien is able to generate massive amounts of progress against most targets, and while its typing has a bunch of weaknesses, including a 4x U-turn weakness, it can still take on a lot of Pokemon such as Slowbro, Basculegion-F and Krookodile.

With tera in the picture, Wo-Chien can flip its weaknesses and become an incredibly annoying Pokemon to take down. Wo-Chien can either go with a Protect set or a Rest-talk set, with both of these having upsides. Protect can allow Wo-Chien to fit an extra move to cripple switchins even more, while Rest-Talk can keep itself healthy over the course of the game. Wo-Chien has a surprisingly deep movepool, with options such as Stun Spore, Poison Powder, Body Press, Taunt, Ruination, Foul Play and others finding its way into its moveset. How will you utilise the Wo-Chizzy?

Submissions will be open until Friday August 22th at 9am GMT+0.

Chien + Tenta Status Spam Fat
:Wo-Chien::Tentacruel::Rotom-Heat::Umbreon::Zapdos-Galar::Gengar:
:Wo-Chien::Tentacruel::Slowbro::Umbreon::Zapdos-Galar::Gengar: - Weak to volturn, bp zone, and hazards. Tenta had spin, but I couldn't find openings during testing.

:Wo-Chien::Tentacruel::Slowbro::Umbreon::Zapdos-Galar::Gengar: - Boots spam and helmet on tenta to address the above problems. Knock Off also means tenta is less passive against by ghost and steel.

:Wo-Chien::Amoonguss::Slowbro::Umbreon::Zapdos-Galar::Gengar: - I experimented with guss over tenta, because guss and bro form a regen core that covers their weaknesses, and guss can punish all pivot moves. However, that made me rely on Future Sight (which the opponent can play around) and gapdos to check ches.

:Wo-Chien::Tentacruel::Rotom-Heat::Umbreon::Zapdos-Galar::Gengar: - Realizing bro worsened my defensive mu against bp zone, I replaced bro with heatom. The Entei mu is still a little rough, but tenta can take a hit from cb stone edge and use Knock Off.

Chien and tenta is an oddball core, but it works. Tenta absorbs toxic, resists fighting, bug, and fairy, and checks ches. Its 297 speed also means it pivots out of threats like jolly gyara, mamo, and adamant krook. Chien checks ground and electric for tenta while also wearing down walls it struggles against, such as bliss and bro. Heatom is the physical wall, and umber is the special wall that improves the team's longetivity.

The team's defensive backbone would wear down opponents by removing boots and spreading status, with gapdos breaking faster throughout the game. Gar would then clean up the game.

Wo-Chien + Scarf Zoroark Offense
https://pokepast.es/ae79d1e4907f1433

1755844957775.png

I wanted to use a Wo-chien team that utilized more offensive moves to deal with particular targets while also wanting to have offensive pressure be consistent amongst team members.
1755845081187.png
Leaf Storm & Pollen Puff are able to take care of dark type targets and the Water/Ground Brothers in Gastrodon and Quagsire. Tera ghost is inserted here to be able to wall Gapdos to punish CC. Wo-Chien is also a good candidate to disguise zoroark with as it gives Zoro an opportunity to lead in to switch items with the opponent.
1755845319741.png
Oricorio-Sensu while not primarily concerned with hazards does have defog as an option if it is really needed. Sensu mixed with Wo-Chien can find many opportunities to set up such as when Wo-Chien is walling Noiverns Dracos and Super fangs. it may need to tera to secure some Ko's even after a QD or two such as Hippowdon. Sensu is also a good disguise for zoroark as it will make opponents hesistate trying to strike it with fighting type attacks such as gapdos or Chesnaught. it also has a fairly decent time dealing with armarouge as hurricane can be used as a way to secure a KO without activating weakness policy.
1755845554108.png
Zoroark unlike its Hisuian counterpart has a harder time finding partners to pair with for illusions as it is vulnerable to more types. but zoroark has the advantage for having partners that have foul play and or U-Turn that can help make it difficult for opponents to discern if it really is zoroark or not. Trick is really good onto leads and potential set up mons and walls such as Reuniclus and Necrozma. While it is not the strongest zoroark set, the assistance it provides is neccesary to throw opponents off their game to make worthwhile progress.
1755845763249.png
Armarouge does what armarouge does best, Clicking endure to get its weakness policy activated, Armarouge on this team has a slightly better matchup against bisharp as Wo-Chien can set leech seed on Bisharp to force bisharp to either attack or switch out as armarouge tries to fish for an endure While leech seed is sapping away at its health. in conjuction with sensu, armarouge can see itself overwhelming the competition as it was being worn down from the rest of the team + sensu's attempt at setting up QD
1755846045997.png
Slowbro helps add overall longevity to the team as well as being able to apply damage in different forms, thunder wave is appreciated in a team that would like more opportunities to either set up or have more turns to leech health off of opponents. Future Sight ensures slowbro does not need to stay too long in the field to help keep its regen health maxed out.

1755846170083.png
Mamoswine is a Physically offensive pokemon that is capable of running freeze-dry but it is needed to take on the water/ground types of RU as its suprise factor mixed with other teammates being able to strike them puts much pressure on them to not commit to the hazard stacking or making switch-ins more difficult in situations where mamoswine would otherwise be walled. Ice shard still acts a reliable form of late game clean up even if it is not able to actively participate in the fight.

~Hope y'all enjoy my first submission for the teambuilding competition c:

Much like a Wo-Chien, this thread has seemed to be sitting passive, so hopefully I can push that along with a submission.

:wo-chien: :dragalge: :hippowdon: :talonflame: :gengar: :cyclizar:

Truthfully this is probably some bullshit but I'm not really bothered enough to test it. Rebuild of an idea I had from like a year ago with Toxic Spikes + Mean Look Woch. Truthfully I think that Mean Look is way to hard of a move to fit onto Woch, as it really funnels you into a Leech Tect set. That leaves knock as a requirement to help with boots users for spikes, which kinda sucks cus Ruination would be pretty cool as well on it. Drag outpaces Hippo I think, slow pivot, all that good stuff. Idk why I made the Hippo tera poison originally, Dogi would probably be my best guess but that isn't super relevant now, we'll call it Hilligant counterplay I guess. Talon is some wack shit, thought the team was real passive with no setup, and I didn't really wanna give up speed control with gar. Probably 1v1s like Registeel, maybe some HO goons if you get the turns right, not sure though, again, bullshit set. Gar set is something I've experienced with a little, maybe you'd prefer Trick over Hex, or Shadow Ball if you're feeling devious. I personally can't decide so I'm just running both. Standard cyc.

Voting for Week 14 is live. Please nominate ONE team before the deadline of Monday, September 31st at 9am GMT +0.

Voting for Tubular, stun spore Wo-Chien is always cool to see and I like the combination of offense and defense on this build the most out of the submissions.

Sorry for the delay, but congrats to hoops for winning the teambuilding competition. Your team will be added to HOF shortly.

Teambuilding comp will be taking a short break for the mamoswine suspect, though afterwards it will be back in full force (I hope).

:sv/mienshao: Week 15: Mienshao :sv/mienshao:
1763340145498.png

With the departure of Gapdos from the tier, Mienshao has established itself as probably (besides Hilligant) the best Fighting-type in the tier. Its fast Speed, Power, and access to Regenerator allow it to be a superb wallbreaker that can pivot in and out of games while healing off damage. Its main set is LO, which allows its attacks to sting a lot harder, while the usually crippling 10% recoil is offset by regenerator. For defensive teams, this is extremely difficult to play against as even sturdy walls such as Hippowdon and Chesnaught can be overwhelmed with some chip damage. Mienshao can also tech out its 4th moveslot to its desire. Stone Edge and Ice Spinner are usually standard, but Fake Out, Triple Axel, Double-Edge, and Poison Jab are all options.

Other sets are also viable on Mienshao. Pads can avoid annoying contact punishers such as Rocky Helmet and Flame Body, Choice Scarf can outrun a vast majority of the tier, Choice Band has even greater breaking power, and AV can act as a soft check to special attackers. Theres even stuff like Special attacking Mienshao and Eject Pack that can be used if you want to get really spicy. How will you make use of this Regenerating menace.

Submissions will be open until Friday November 21st at 9am GMT+0.

Mienshao PZ Offense
:bw/mienshao: :bw/porygon-z: :bw/gligar: :bw/suicune: :sv/mimikyu: :bw/magnezone:

I originally built this team for my ru cup set against daharan and i knew i would have to use a well built team to beat such a talented player. I first started by looking through the tier to try and figure out very effective offense core and i was noticing that a lot of the common mienshao switchins such as slowbro and talonflame are just free agility setup for porygon-z. Alongside that the common mienshao switchins that arent a free agility for pz such as noivern and chesnaught are ohkod by +1 ice beam. I then set out to build the best offense team i could around this duo.

:pmd/mienshao: :pmd/porygon-z:
Mienshao is the first part of the core i was building around and i choose to go with the standard life orb 4a set because it is the most offensively threatening. Fake out is there for the nice priority as well as just being nice to chip stuff into ranges and scout tera. Porygon-z is the second part of the core and given how this was an offense team i decided that the standard 2a glasses recover set wouldnt be good as i couldn't reliably bring it in multiple times in a game. I went with expert belt 3 attacks instead to maximize power and chose tera fighting to be able nuke steels and help into dark types like bisharp and crawdaunt that wall otherwise.
:pmd/gligar:
A bit ago i decided to try to figure what the best hazard control for offense is which at the time lead me to mienshao + taunt gligar so gligar is here to help with hazards. Taunt and the speed investment allows you to outspeed and taunt a lot of the more common hazard setters like registeel and hippowdon and the ones that are faster like krookodile and jirachi are scared of the mienshao lead. Spikes are chosen over stealth rocks because this team doesnt have good knock support since mienshao would rather be clicking uturn or cc and spikes are better at threating steels (which is another offensive focus i built around) and hippowdon. Bulldoze is a very funny tech that joelxleaf helped me with figuring out in testing since the gligar was a bit passive into more offensive teams as well as lilligant-hisui. Tera poison is for tspikes immune and with bulldoze lets you beat/slowdown most lilligant-hisui. Gligar also has uturn + its good bulk to be able to be a blanket pivot into most things and bring in the offensive threats.
:pmd/suicune:
With the breaking core established i wanted to add in a cleaner to win games and also something that appreciates the offensive synergys of the team so i added suicune. I choose to go with the standard beamcune set because i already had porygon-z to punish slowbro teams and ice beam is just good coverage for stuff like the grass fightings and noivern. Tera poison lets u be an answer to the grass fightings and also gives a uturn resist which is good for keeping the sub up vs faster uturn.
:pmd/mimikyu:
I added Mimikyu to help with the offense and hyper offense matchup as well priority with shadow sneak. I went with the standard sd set with drain punch chosen to be able to threaten steels like empoleon and bisharp to help suicune and porygon-z. Tera fighting is pretty explanatory as it boosts the power of drain punch and gives a dark resist.
:pmd/magnezone:
It was at this point i noticed that my team had no real switchin to a special attacker or steel so i added av magnezone. Magnezone is chosen over a more traditional steel because i wanted a steel that had good offensive pressure and pivoting to make sure the team didnt have any momentum sink slots, which i find to be terrible on offense. Assault vest is chosen to allow magnezone to leverage its good bulk to come in on special attacks. Body press is chose over tera blast to allow magnezone to threaten common special walls like blissey and cyclizar as well as hitting steels hard. Another thing to note is that gligar + magnezone have amazing defensive synergy and the types that they cant handle (fire and waters) suicune can come in on.

Overall i am very happy with this team and i think it shows off mienshaos offensive presence well.
