National Dex Rate my national dex team, pls!

Hi guys, I wanted to know your opinion on this team. I managed to win a lot of fights, but in others I lost badly and I think we can improve a lot, but I'm a fairly inexperienced player on the competitive side and I would need some help to modify it and make it more efficient:

Manectric was originally supposed to be the "star" of the team, but that's what's disappointing me the most. He should be a special attacker, but he manages to do it halfway, there are many, too many pokemon that can withstand his attacks. I would like to change it, but I really don't know who to replace it with.

Clefable has a weird set that has worked a couple of times, but maybe evs can be distributed better, I don't know. I don't know whether to call it a wall or a sweeper, it's certainly annoying. With the kee barry he increases his defense, already high enough to allow him to resist attacks while using calm mind to then attack son stored power and draining kiss. I decided to use draining kiss instead of moon blast because it can bounce back by doing damage to the opponent.

Breelom is there because the team needed some grass pokemon. I admit to having used it a few times for various circumstances, so I don't know if there is any other better grass pokemon.

Dragapult is a good guy who does what he has to do well. It does a lot of damage with hex even without burning the opponent, it does as much damage with dragon darts. I love him I would like to marry him. Jk.

Scizor is a good guy like Dragapult, but less good, he doesn't convince me very much. I would like to replace it with hetran, so that I also have a fire type in the team, but I would not have defog / rapid spin, I don't know how optimal it is as a thing. Scizor also manages to do good damage with bullet punch and Dual Wingbeat, which has proved very useful many times over. It also has an excellent defense.

Finally, Milotic is a true queen, but perhaps she can be more. I am tempted to replace toxic, I use it very little, but the other moves work very well, especially haze which has saved my ass many times. He is a special defender and works very well.

Hi, welcome to Smogon! I'm locking your RMT for the time being as the forum rules require that you provide at least 3 lines of descriptions for each Pokemon to explain their roles. Please read the rules carefully and take a look at Team Showcase to see the level of detail we require. PM me with updated descriptions and I'll be happy to unlock this.

Ok hi! I don't have time for a full rate, but I'll give you some pointers as to where you're going wrong.

You're quite right to point the finger at Mega Man, as Rotom-Heat outclasses it in every way while not using your Mega slot up. Use Heavy-Duty Boots and either Nasty Plot for some breaking power or the option of running Defog on it. Unfortunately, Rotom-Heat gets somewhat annoyed by the current metagame, so you're better off looking for a different pivot/breaker. Libero Heavy-Duty Boots Cinderace can do both quite well (though avoid Court Change like the plauge).

Clefable has access to Magic Guard. Magic Guard is broken. You're not running a stall team so you don't need Unaware. Run Magic Guard. For a Calm Mind set, Life Orb with Soft-Boiled and Moonblast works well, except for getting 100% destroyed by Heatran if you don't have Thunderbolt, and Ferrothorn if you don't have Flamethrower. Given you don't have a Stealth Rock setter, a utility set with Lefties and Moonblast/Rocks/Thunder Wave/Soft-Boiled should work great.

Breloom is just bad. It's way too slow, and once it uses up its big scary Spore (or has to face something that is immune to it) it quickly gets outclassed. If you're in the market for an offensive Grass type, look no further than Grassy Surge Rillaboom. Access to Knock Off and U-turn is awesome, and Grassy Glide is low-key broken. Plus Banded Wood Hammer hits like a truck. You could also consider a certain paper sword too...

The Dragapult set you're using is the Galar Dex OU one. With Z-moves being legal in National Dex, Dragapult is one of the scariest cleaners in the game. Substitute/Dragon Dance/Darts/Phantom Force is terrifying with Ghostium Z. Just be very careful with that Z-move-once it is used Dragapult loses 1v1 to most Steels and Fairies, but as long as it is intact it can easily pick one off. Weaken the rest of your opponent 's team, get a Sub up, and it's already game over.

With your Mega Slot being freed, Mega Scizor becomes a very potent option. Replace Dual Wingbeat with Roost and Swords Dance with U-turn (you have plenty of wincons already) and it becomes a very long-lasting pivot.

Finally, Milotic is outclassed by Regenerator Toxapex. In every way. Be sure to run a Specially Defensive set so you can check Ash-Greninja, with optional Baneful Bunker over Toxic to take Dark Pulses better. Other than that, use the exact same set.

Issues to watch for: You need a Ground immunity that can handle things like SD Gliscor. You also need some kind of reliable way to pressure Heatran so it doesn't just force out Toxapex with Earth Power and fling up Stealth Rocks against your whole team. Best of luck!

Hi there, I'd be happy to help out with your team. It seems you'll still need to get familiar with the National Dex metagame, since none of these sets are all that viable. Thus, I'd like to direct you to the National Dex forums, and advise you to look through the Viability Rankings and the Set Compendium in particular in order to get a general feel of what Pokemon and sets are viable. Without further ado, let's take a look:

Major Adjustments

:sm/manectric-mega: ---> :sm/rotom-wash:
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Defog
Mega Manectric isn't viable in National Dex due to being outclassed as a pivot by a multitude of Pokemon, such as Tapu Koko, Rotom-W, and Rotom-H. Rotom-W would be particularly helpful in this team, due to providing a check to threats like Garchomp and Heatran, while also providing better Defog support than Scizor, which this team also sorely misses. Rotom-W also makes a strong VoltTurn core with Dragapult and Mega Scizor, which will give you more opportunities to keep momentum at your side, and it also provides Will-O-Wisp support for Dragapult.

:sm/breloom: ---> :sm/heatran:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 136 SpD / 120 Spe
Calm Nature
- Magma Storm
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
Next, we need a Stealth Rock setter, and Heatran just so happens to fit perfectly here. With Magma Storm, Earth Power, and Toxic, it can easily chip down Mega Tyranitar, which otherwise hugely troubles Dragapult. Heatran also checks some very scary threats such as Cinderace, Volcarona, and Magearna, all of which can easily dismantle this team otherwise.

:sm/milotic: ---> :sm/ferrothorn:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 164 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
At this point, the team is still lacking a good check to Ash-Greninja. Ferrothorn is the best fit here, due to not stacking weaknesses with Rotom-W unlike the likes of Toxapex and Tapu Fini. Ferrothorn also provides Spikes support, which can really go a long way in helping out Dragapult, Clefable, and Mega Scizor by further punishing some of their checks, such as Heatran.

Set Changes

:sm/clefable:
Clefable @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder
- Calm Mind
Clefable is a much better wincondition with a Calm Mind Magic Guard set. This way, it ignores chip damage from Toxic and entry hazards, while still checking dangerous Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Hydreigon, and Mega Medicham. A Draining Kiss + Stored Power set is walled by every Steel-type in the metagame, which makes it a very suboptimal set.

:sm/scizor-mega:
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 68 Def / 192 SpD
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- U-turn
Since we got rid of Mega Manectric, that means we are now free to use Mega Scizor, which is a lot more bulkier than regular Scizor. Roost makes Mega Scizor a lot more durable, so I highly advise you to never drop it over something else. Curse Mega Scizor also gives this team a much better check to lots of stuff than Scizor, such as Swords Dance Gliscor, Kartana, Kyurem, and Mega Mawile.

:sm/dragapult:
Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hex
- Draco Meteor
- Will-O-Wisp
- U-turn
Heavy-Duty Boots is generally the better item on Dragapult, since it allows Dragapult to serve as a much more effective pivot due to ignoring entry hazard damage. Draco Meteor is also strictly better on Hex Dragapult in National Dex, due to not compromising Hex damage by taking EVs from Special Attack. This allows Dragapult to fully invest in its Special Attack, which gives it a better chance to break through Clefable among others.

Final Team

Feel free to ask me any questions you might still have. Enjoy!
