RBY Rising Stars II

General Tournament Rules
  • Matches will be Best of Three and follow standard Smogon rules - I reserve the right to take any measures required to resolve contentious situations.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!. If you can't agree on which server to play on, the Smogtours server is the default option.
  • Replays are required for all matches.
  • In the event that something is added to or removed from the RBY OU metagame in the middle of a round, that change will be in effect starting the next round.
  • Do not cheat. Cheating will result in a disqualification. Additional punishments may be applied as necessary. Cheating includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ghosting or being ghosted by another player (e.g. while playing a set, asking for advice about what plays to make)
    • Manipulating match outcomes (e.g. throwing a match in exchange for Smogon likes)
  • Do not harass or insult your opponents. I reserve the right to disqualify anyone breaking this rule. Additional punishments may be applied as necessary.
The Swiss is running from September 23th to October 27th.
Play your games.
If someone loses due to activity, I reserve the right to let someone else take their spot for the remainder of the tour. There are many players who almost made it but didn't have a shot, so I won't have trouble finding replacements.
Good luck and have fun!

quick predictions

Aliss vs Maris Bonibell - Maris has a lot of potential and I think her OU play is quite solid already, if she keeps putting the effort she'll go very far imo. Aliss is still a cut above for now, great performance in Invit Playins to make it back to main event but this is closer than the seeding difference shows.
Vileman vs Tree69420 - While not being a massive grinder, whenever Vileman does show up he usually plays pretty well but lower familiarity with the tier can cost him. He should still be the favourite vs Tree, who has a bit of a risky playstyle that often backfires but can lead to some wins.
RaiZen1704 vs 16bit - RaiZen has an extremely high peak performance but has a few consistency issues I think, but he's still a top threat a lot of the time and I'd rate him the favourite to win the entire tour. 16bit on the other hand has been playing for a while but has improved fairly significantly recently, should give a great fight here.
Melbelle vs YBW - both great lowtier players, YBW's OU is a lot newer than mel's but I think this should be fairly close as he's shown good potential with a bit of a rands playstyle that's benefited players like chub in the past, should be a very exciting set
BeeOrSomething vs oakdeon - Bee's had a few good tours back to back so confidence should be at a high, one of the favourites to win this tour but will have to put in the work to win. Oakdeon's had decent results this year but is still a cut below Bee imo.
NotVeryCake vs Tarvold - heater, I'm not a fan of Cake's turn by turn playstyle much but it does bring solid results, the foundation for a top player is there I think but she needs to really work hard. Tarvold is a really unique player, love seeing his strategies and excited to watch this set which should be fairly close.
Sabelette vs Quarante8 - really tight, Sabel seems more invested in OU than previously but has a bit of catching up to do, obviously the potential is there and it's fully within her capability to realise it. 48's been good but not great pretty much forever, interested in seeing how he does this time around. Should be very close!
chub vs gastlies - chub's had a long hiatus, showed pretty solid stuff in his cup run but there was still a lot to improve on so it's hard to tell what level he'll be at. Gastlies was in the same boat as 48 I think but has recently had an improvement spike playing under Amaranth in ROAPL, his style of teams seems to work better for her. Not rly sure if there'll be another plateau, gamesense and thinking turns through are areas to work on but this is a hype matchup for sure.

Aliss vs Maris Bonibell : small advantage for alice but maris can also win 60/40

Vileman
vs Tree69420 : no mistake here because vileman has already won

RaiZen1704 vs 16bit: obviously raizen is the big favorite 80/20

Melbelle
vs YBW : both players are excellent I can't decide.I would say 50/50

BeeOrSomething vs oakdeon: I will do my best despite a difficult year for me.

Sabelette vs Quarante8: We all know 48 for all his matches where he cries when the rng touches him.Despite that he is very solid. 30/70

Btw, the pairings will work in a way such that you don't face the same opponent twice. Starting next week there is a possibility that the bracketmaker puts you against someone who you've already played. If this happens, I'll swap "player 1" of that repeat pairing with the pairing below in that section (looping back to the top if it's the last pairing).

Player A and player B played in round 1, player A wins.

Next round, player B wins in the 0-1 bracket and player A loses in the 1-0 bracket. Now they're both in the 1-1 bracket.

Now let's say the 1-1 bracket in round 3 looks like this:
A vs B
C vs D
E vs F
G vs H

Since A and B already played each other, A will swap with C and the new pairings will be:
C vs B
A vs D
E vs F
G vs H
