Tournaments RBY Rising Stars II - Signups!

Not open for further replies.
Format Update:
Due to the reduced number of signups compared to last year's rising stars, I am changing the number of participants to 16. This will also remove the lower swiss bracket. To compensate for this shortening the length of the tour, the playoffs will be double elimination.

New Schedule:
September 23rd - October 27th: Swiss
Players who reach 3 losses are eliminated, players who reach 3 wins advance to the playoffs.

October 28th - December 8th: Playoffs
Double elimination bracket, will be seeded based on record in the Swiss round

The playerlist is here! Special thanks to Sceptross emma and Amaranth for help with the seeding! The seeding procedure was fairly similar to last year's but with some changes:
  • In order to close the distance between "older" and "newer" players, I limited results from RoAPL/Circuit/Invitational to the past 3 years. For the most part this changed very little since a lot of the players in this tour have not been playing RBY for 3 years.
  • I included results from last year's Rising Stars just for funsies
Also the disclaimer we are humans seeding this humans are not perfect you know the drill

Anyway here's the list:

1. Aliss
Aliss is by far the most decorated player in the pool, with three invitational performances and starting for the Raiders in SPL XII, winning the tour. However, she has not played RBY in SPL since. Now is her chance to prove herself once again and show that she is still SPL material in RBY.

2. Vileman
Vileman has a good amount of experience in RBY, captaining Chile in RBYWC and playing for the Boomers in Boomer vs Zoomer, but he has never started for RBY in SPL, only playing two RBY games his entire career. He has had a good record in the RBY teamtours, and has been invited to invitational playins, so this tour could be the push to get him to start in RBY.

3. RaiZen1704
RaiZen1704 barely made Rising Stars last year, being seeded #25th and getting subbed in due to a dropout, but 2024 has been a great year of results for him, bumping him to the #3 seed, which is the same as his current circuit ranking! One of his memorable moments was when in the saffron cup, he defeated Chuva's army all by himself, and he is currently ranked #3 in the overall Fight Club circuit. Now he has one more shot to show that he is SPL material in RBY.

4. Melbelle
Melbelle had a great circuit performance in 2023, making it to the finals of Majors and the semifinals of Cup. She is also a fantastic lowtiers player, consistently showing good results and making it to the top 4 of the NU invitational. Now could be a chance for Melbelle to match her amazing OU performances from last year.

5. BeeOrSomething
BeeOrSomething was the bottom seed last Rising Stars, but this was largely due to him being new to RBY and not having many results. In the past year, he had a great RoAPL record of 6-2, making it to the finals, and got a top 6 finish in the RBY Cup, defeating players such as Sabelette, Shiloh, and M Dragon. He has also taken over as Manager for the Primeapes in RBYPL. 2024 has been a great year for Bee, and we'll see if the streak continues.

6. NotVeryCake
Similar to Bee, NotVeryCake was seeded fairly low in last year's rising stars due to being new and not having many results. Now that an entire year has passed, she has improved a ton and leaped massively in the seeding. In RBYWC, she went 3-0 in an incredibly stacked pool, then defeated Serpi in the quarterfinals. She is also #1 on the RBY Lowtier Hall of Fame, above promiment players like Ice Yazu and Sabelette.

7. Sabelette
Sabelette is one of the best RBY lowtier players, winning the 2023 Lower Tiers Circuit and being the only player to make the Grand Slam Playoffs all three years. However, her OU results have never matched her Lowtier dominance. There is one exception though, last year's Rising Stars, where she got second place! Could this year be the year where she takes the gold medal instead?

8. chub
Chub had a great year in 2023, making it second in the RBY Cup and finishing third in the circuit overall. As a result, they were seeded fairly highly last year, but since then they have taken nearly a year hiatus from RBY OU. Will Chub show that a year away from tours hasn't impacted their performance?

9. gastlies
lol.

10. Quarante8
In RBY Fight Club, 48 has been dominating the circuit, ending up on the podium in 6 out of the 9 Master Tournaments, with one silver and one gold medal. He is also one of the three players in this edition of Rising Stars that finished in the top 8 of last year's edition. Now he has a second chance to improve from last year's performance.

11. Tarvold
Tarvold has a habit of nerfing himself by bringing a random shitmon like Lickitung or Raichu to games, but he is so good at piloting these mons that he somehow makes them work. Even with this self-nerfing, he still does fantastic, making top 16 in the circuit last year. Will Tarvold continue to succeed despite his unconventional building style, or will he actually start using Tauros and destroy the competition?

12. oakdeon
Oakdeon is the third of the three returning players who made top eight of last year's rising stars. He has done decently in teamtours, and is managing the Mighty Magmars this year in RBYPL alongisde the person right below him on this list. He has been invited to playins twice but sadly lost both times round 1. Could this be his shot at redemption?

13. YBW
YBW is another player in the "great at lowtiers, but has not yet proven themselves in OU" group. He is a force to be reckoned with in Rands and Ubers, but has not gotten any significant OU results. Other Ubers and Rands players like ctown6, chub, and Ice Yazu have proven themselves to be fantastic OU players, so YBW might be next on the list.

14. 16bit
16bit has always performed fairly well in the RBY Circuit, making the top 50 three years in a row. This year, they were invited to Invitational playins and made it to the second round. Additionally, they made it to the top 24 of Cup and have a good amount of teamtour experience.

15. Tree69420
RBY's resident spammer/shitposter makes it into the #15 seed. He has gotten some notable wins over some players, such as beating Serpi in Global Championships. He is also a great UU player, so it's time to see if this translates over to OU success or not.

16. Maris Bonibell
A new face in the RBY community, Maris has been a very promising player in RBY's lower tiers, just finishing UUBD with a 6-1 record. However, she is completely unproven in OU, being invited to invitational playins and losing to Tarvold in the first round. Now with her shot at redemption, will Maris defy her low seed placement and be the strongest player in this tour?

Note, Kenix was excluded from the tournament since he started in SPL last year.

Congrats to those who made it! Seeding this was quite difficult, there were a handful of people in the "almost made it in but missed out" group, feel free to try again next year!

The Swiss round will be posted soon.
