General Smogon Tournament rules:
  • You must have a Smogon forum account to sign up for a tournament. You cannot participate if you do not post in this thread.
  • When this tour is posted, post as quickly as you can to ensure a place in the tournament. The number of spots available will vary from tour to tour, and it is up to the discretion of the host on when sign-ups will be closed. On Xenforo (our current forum software), YOUR POST NUMBER IS NOT ALWAYS ACCURATE. Do NOT whine to the host or on Smogtours if your post number implies you should have been in the tournament and you are not.
  • Substitute players will only be applied in the first round and as deemed necessary by the host.
  • If you have signed up successfully, you must stay for the entire tournament unless you have lost.
  • You may change teams between rounds without penalty. You are, in fact, encouraged to do so to prevent your opponents from knowing your team in advance.
  • Do not hassle the host(s) of the current tournament.
Rules & Bans:
  • All matches are BO1.
  • Self-KO clause is in effect, meaning that a last mon Selfdestruct/Explosion will result in a loss for the user.
  • RBY UU banlist: Mewtwo, Mew, Alakazam, Chansey, Cloyster, Exeggutor, Gengar, Jolteon, Jynx, Lapras, Rhydon, Slowbro, Snorlax, Starmie, Tauros, Victreebel, Zapdos

Rustiest Player Around

So last suspect tour, a lot of players I saw didn't know how to play around Wrap and started writing off the tier and complaining about how the tier is terrible or whatever, and even though I have written an essay about why Wrap is healthy from a competitive standpoint and how to play around it which was already linked in the suspect thread, people still were whining about the tier being "completely braindead". So to stop people from having any right to complain, here's the SparkNotes version of how to deal with Tentacruel Wrap in RBY UU:

- Once it wraps, go to a fast Pokemon like Kadabra or Persian or Dugtrio, which can threaten Tentacruel with Paralysis or Damage, and wait out Wrap. Once Wrap ends, then Tentacruel is forced to switch out or get KO'd. The opponent can switch earlier to retain momentum but that can be predicted consistently with experience. If you let everything fast get chipped or paralyzed and get wrap locked afterwards, you deserve to lose.
- Wrap also burns sleep turns, so if your Hypno is Resting then you can use Wrap to let it wake up.
- PP stalling is very poor at dealing with Wrap since it just lets your team take a ton of chip damage and should be only a last resort option.

Now that you know how to deal with Wrap, stop whining about Tentacruel ffs.
