[SET]
Offensive 3 Attacks (Scizor) @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat
- Dual Wingbeat
[SET COMMENTS]
Mega Scizor is a threatening setup sweeper, utilizing its high base Attack and useful typing to gain setup opportunities on Pokemon like Weavile, Tapu Lele, and Rillaboom while also being a powerful late-game cleaner once checks like Gouging Fire and Zapdos are weakened or taken out of the picture. Bullet Punch allows Mega Scizor to improve its matchup against offensive teams and guarantee a KO against certain revenge killers such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Koko once boosted and after slight chip damage. Close Combat deals with Steel-types like Heatran and Ferrothorn while also 2HKOing Corviknight and putting Raging Bolt into KO range from Bullet Punch at +2. Dual Wingbeat hits Toxapex and Tapu Lele, netting a 2HKO against a would-be check in the former and allowing it to more reliably check the latter. This variant of Mega Scizor exclusively fits on hyper offense teams that like its inherent defensive utility. Landorus-T is a good teammate that sets Stealth Rock, allowing Mega Scizor to overwhelm checks like Gouging Fire lacking Heavy-Duty Boots and Mega Charizard Y much more easily while also appreciating it coming in on Weavile attempting to prevent Landorus-T from setting up Stealth Rock. Landorus-T also blanket checks Pokemon such as Gouging Fire and Mega Medicham, which prevent Mega Scizor from staying in and setting up, and Swords Dance variants with Rockium Z can lure in Zapdos for it. Pokemon like Serperior and Dragonite like Mega Scizor dealing with their offensive checks such as Weavile and Tapu Lele; in return, they take care of Pokemon like Dondozo and Volcarona, so it is able to clean up more easily. Mega Scizor can struggle against Pokemon like Rocky Helmet Landorus-T, Volcarona, and Zapdos, which could potentially stop it in its tracks, making teammates like Urshifu-R and Ogerpon-C great partners. Mega Scizor also struggles with faster Pokemon that resist Bullet Punch like Ogerpon-W and opposing Urshifu-R, which makes Dragonite another good teammate. However, Urshifu-R, Ogerpon-C, and Dragonite all appreciate Mega Scizor's defensive presence in checking Weavile and Rillaboom.
