Wowee. We are Pet Mod of the Month.

Quick Balance Changes:

Terastalization: BANNED

Shit is banned in NatDex, and as we are NatDex, we will be banning it here. I also am not assigning Tera Types to 70 pokemon for randbats. I'm sorry.

:onix: Excavate - On switchin, this Pokemon removes Stealth Rock and Spikes from the user's side, and raises its Defense by 1 for each hazard removed in this way. Once per game.

Auto-hazard-removal is entirely too strong, even on a "weaker" pokemon like Onix.

:flareon: + Sucker Punch

It's not actually supposed to have it but I think its actually kinda epic. Keeping it. LOL

Slate 10:

Can't believe these fully evolved Pokemon were never buffed! Luckily, we have the opportunity to reinterpret these classic shitters!

:Tangela: Tangela (Brambleghast)
  • Must have exactly ONE signature ability (like Wind Rider)
:golbat: Golbat (Glimmora)
  • Must have exactly ONE signature ability (like Toxic Debris)
  • Must have exactly ONE signature move (like Mortal Spin)
:lickitung: Lickitung (Grafaiai)
  • Must have exactly ONE signature move (like Doodle)

Things to note:
  • Power: As stated above, the Pokemon slated are very weak. Adjust accordingly.
  • BST: You do not have to stick with the BST of the original Pokemon.
  • Eviolite: None of these guys are Eviolite compatible; they're fully evolved!

One week to make submissions (4/10). It's been a while so please review the rules in the OP. Have fun!

[...]

I am a simple being. I don’t like the ultra pivot move and I think a good ground resist would be nice. Looked again. Why are there so MANY pivot moves.
Small heads-up: Jaw Lock and other trapping doesn't prevent pivoting moves, only manual switching - so if your Ability works as written, it essentially punishes every physical move except pivoting moves and does absolutely nothing to Pokémon that pivot out.
You might want to revise the effect with that in mind!

It's really easy to code an Ability that just removes the pivoting effects from moves, though (example: code for Alluring from M4A).
It could be cool to combine that effect with inflicting Leech Seed on physical attackers like you have - that way, you're not only denying momentum on one turn but directly pressuring the opponent to hard-switch on the next turn.
I think that might be more fun! I'm a little worried about it being kinda toxic to be able to switch in and inflict Jaw Lock any time, so I would be inclined to move it in this direction myself.
(alternatively: if you're worried about Flareon specifically, you could also go full Queenly Majesty/Dazzling with "opposing Pokémon can't use pivoting moves" and get immunity to its main Fire STAB!)

Stats: 65 | 50 | 135 | 115 | 75 | 60 [BST: 500]
Movepool Changes: +Strength Sap, Rapid Spin, Muddy Water, Mud Shot
Description: Tangela is a swamp vine that drains the strength of things that get caught in its body for sustenance. With that in mind, now Tangela serves as the defacto bulky Ground resist for the metagame, in a metagame where bulky Ground resists are next to nowhere since many of the Grasses are part Poison. Rapid Spin also gives it a solid niche as hazard removal as well. Muddy Water and Mud Shot are funny coverage option. Tangling Vines can trap targets which you can then utilize with Leech Seed and Toxic to wear down threats.

Whenever Lickitung comes across something new, it will unfailingly give it a lick. It does so because it memorizes things by texture and by taste. It is somewhat put off by sour things.

:lickitung: Lickitung

Type: Normal
Stat Changes: 110 HP (+20) / 90 Attack (+35) / 75 Defense / 80 Sp. Atk (+20) / 75 Sp. Def / 55 Speed (+25) // 485 BST
Abilities:
Analytic (replaces Own Tempo)
Oblivious
(Hidden) Immunity (replaces Cloud Nine)
Movepool Changes: +Taste Test, +Strength Sap, +Sucker Punch

Taste Test (Normal) || Physical || 75 BP / 100% acc / 20 (32) PP
The user reaches out with its long tongue to lick the target, lowering the target's Speed stat.
For the rest of the battle, the user's moves are more powerful against the licked target.
(makes contact; boosts the power of all subsequent moves by 1.5x, but only against targets the Pokémon has licked;
the effect doesn't stack if you use it more than once on the same target, but it can be applied to any number of targets over the course of the battle)

(first of all: I can code this myself if needed! so don't worry about that)

Uhhh...? Yeah, I dunno if this is anything, but--

- I kinda started from the flavor concept because of the dex entry at the top - obviously Lickitung's signature move would have to be something it did with its tongue, so I thought it would be cute and on-theme if I could reward Lickitung for licking every opponent once and make an actual mechanic out of it "memorizing" the targets it licks.
The sub as a whole is basically about tagging as much of the opponent's team as possible - in this case, that also means it needs to be able to pressure tagged opponents to switch out so it can keep licking more of the opposing team, but it also needs survivability to spare the turns on Taste Test.

- Flavorfully, the Speed debuff on Taste Test is because Lickitung's tongue is so gooey and sticky, but it's also a good way to pressure opponents to leave the field, since they're unlikely to want to take a Taste Test-boosted followup attack.
- Of course, Lickitung is pretty slow to begin with, but an offensive set could choose to invest in Speed and end up outpacing Pokémon all the way up to base 107 once they're at -1 - or it could go all-in on bulk, trade hits and heal off with Strength Sap or Wish instead.

- Lickitung has pretty efficient coverage - there are already next to no Normal resists in this metagame (only Rock-types, Magneton and Gengar right now, and Gengar is frail), so it basically just needs Earthquake. I think it should be easy for it to justify a set with Taste Test, Double-Edge, Earthquake and your choice of Strength Sap/Wish/Knock Off/Sucker Punch, for instance. Bulkier sets can run Body Slam instead of Double-Edge, and it also has Swords Dance access if it wants it!
- Its unboosted offenses are on the low side, but it can run Analytic to get around that, and that even stacks with Taste Test so it has pseudo-Stakeout if the same thing tries to answer it twice.

- As an alternative to Analytic, you can choose to run a much bulkier Lickitung set and give it Immunity.
I think this makes sense because Lickitung licks everything and I'm sure it would have stopped doing that by now if it often got sick from it
Between this and its recovery options, it can probably survive long enough to tag more of the opponent's team with Taste Test and end up exerting offensive pressure long-term.

- In the short term, Taste Test sounds kinda weak - compared to a setup move, it only works on one target at a time, and the boost is only 1.5x compared to Lickitung's Swords Dance.
The thing that makes it interesting in my opinion is that unlike Swords Dance, it doesn't matter if Lickitung gets forced out afterwards, or even if the target switches out: once you've tagged a Pokémon with it, Lickitung can keep threatening it with boosted moves for the rest of the game, which gradually whittles down its list of defensive answers over the course of battle.
Lickitung is definitely too slow to feel like a good Swords Dancer, so I think it should be cool to have an alternative that works with it long-term as a bulky wallbreaker! It might take some support to get going, but I think it could be kinda fun to build around and very unique in how it exerts long-term pressure?
- edit: I have provisionally buffed the BP of Taste Test from 60 to 75 on zxg's advice! With that in mind, it's a lot safer to keep clicking - it ends up at 112.5 BP (146.25 if it also has an Analytic boost) on a target that has already been licked, so it's a lot freer to keep trying to tag the whole opposing team, with or without mixing in your stronger moves.

I dunno!! It's definitely a weird sub and I dunno how it'll play out in practice, but I think it would bring something cool to the mod and I hope people think it's worth a shot!

edit: buffed Taste Test BP!

Thoughts:
I wanted to differentiate it from the other normal blobs by making it more physical defense oriented than special. Similar physical stat block to Lickilicky (just with even Atk & Def), but maintains it's special defense and boosts special attack for a mirrored block as is sometimes common.

I had the name idea for the signature first naturally, I know it's a dumb trend but I thought who better to embody it than the dumb tongue mon. The only licking (Ew) move is... Lick... so I copied it's ghost typing over and gave it a moderate power increase to account for it to be worth it without stab or a conditional boost like Knock Off.

I gave it simple because Lickitung is a pretty simple looking fella, and paired with Coil (Not a snake but I imagine it could coil both it's tail or tongue to strike) would be a formidable bulky setup mon, or could be given the pair of sticky hold assault vest to become a general nuisance. Oblivious fits thematically and I'm never a fan of removing all of a mon's original flavour when engaging with projects like this.

Strength Sap and Drain Punch felt like thematic additions, and I removed Body Press because it felt like it could get opressive with Coil, open to changing that though.

Movepool: + Hydro Pump, Muddy Water, Whirlpool, Life Dew, Soak, Earth Power, Mud Bomb, Mud Shot / - Sludge Bomb, Synthesis, Morning Sun
Signature Ability: Entangle / Binding moves recover HP equal to the damage dealt at the end of each turn. (1/8th or 1/6th with Binding Band).

Thoughts:
A lot of Tangela's pokedex entries refer to it being somewhat similar to seaweed, it entangling anything that gets close, and it's ability to regrow it's vines quickly. As such, this version of Tangela aims to represent each of those aspects in a somewhat thematic way.

It gains the water type since, as mentioned, it's similar to seaweed. This removes some of it's major weaknesses but opens it up to neutral grass type damage, which plays into a later thought.

It's signature ability Entangle, plays on both it's entangling vines and their ability to quickly regenerate. I chose this ability to give it two similar but distinct playstyles, the hit/tank and run regenerator, and the 1v1 recovery machine. It was originially an Arena Trap clone that made Grass type immune instead of airborne foes. This was reworked to buff binding moves instead, which thematically hits on similar notes, but has a lot more counterplay (Rapid Spin, Pivoting, Shed Shell, Type immunity).

I wanted to reinforce it's bad matchup into grass types by removing it's poison coverage, especially since it's new coverage will give it just as many new good matchups, and I removed it's more reliable recovery options since both it's playstyles will allow it to stay healthy regardless. I decided Soak would be a niche but useful tech to be able to still beat Grass Pokemon, providing it gets multiple turns to abuse the type change.

Finally, It's statblock is buffed to be similar to Tangrowth bulkwise (slightly less physical/more special bulk), and to give it a slightly more competetive speed tier without going too min-max, notably being able to tie Sandslash and Vaporeon.

/ Contact, Bite-based / 80 BP / - Acc / 15 (24) PP / This move does not check accuracy. It will still hit if a foe is switching out.

Thoughts:
Similar to others, I wanted to emphasise Golbat's biting themes, and looking at it's Pokedex entries solidified a thematic niche for me. It's often stated as drinking so much blood it has difficulty flying. Engorge will allow Golbat to heal when biting, but at the cost of losing it's flying type. This opens up unique scenarios where ground type Pokemon can face off against Golbat if they're slower.

I refrained from adding Ice Fang so the Ground matchup can still happen as intended, with similar reasons against Fire Fang being that a dex entry states it loses fangs trying to bite Steel types, and Thunder Fang didn't feel as thematically appropriate. I opted to add Psychic Fangs since it already get's Zen Headbutt, and it fits the vibe.

For other movepool changes, I added Topsy Turvy cause bats hang upside down(...), First Impression & Shadow Sneak to reference a dex entry that states "It attacks in a stealthy manner, without warning.", and decided to remove Brave Bird (it's not a Bird?) in favour of it's new move... Stalking Fang. This move is meant to act like pursuit, but I didn't want it to be too weak when it's effect is inactive, so I removed it's conditional damage boost for a consistent 80 BP.

So this isn't too overbearing, I kept it's attack modest but still competetive. I also buffed it's speed tier to a point I could visually see it versus the surrounding mons. It can still outspeed base 85 or be a formiddable scarfer running adamant regardless. I gave it slightly less bulk than Crobat would have to compensate for it's higher damage output.

As the sole mono-Grass-type, I wanted to keep Tangela that way. With that in mind, I've shifted it from a Special attacker to a Physical attacker, meaning it can run Power Whip far more effectively. I've also given it a couple extra moves for coverage to vary its Assault Vest sets.

In regards to its shiny new ability, Chokepoint was very much inspired by OSP's sub, with it being my own take on an anti-pivoting ability. It serves as a strong alternative to Regenerator, as it shuts down any attempts at hit-n-runs on Tangela, especially relieving worry being hit by U-Turn or Flare Out. It doesn't announce itself, so unless the opponent sees Tangela healing via Regenerator, they won't know for certain whether or not its utilizing Chokepoint until its too late, making it all the more potent, as it leaves them vulnerable to a potential Power Whip attack.

Damage dealt by this Pokémon using a biting move or Super Fang is stored as Health Points. When this Pokémon switches out, the stored HP is split between it and its switch-in for healing.
btw, I dunno how to do this, so if no-one else can and/or is willing to (try), just veto this and I'll bring out my backup plan
80 HP (+5) / 90 ATK (+10) / 70 DEF (+0) / 55 SPA (-5) / 70 SPD (+0) / 115 SPE (+25) | BST: 490 (+35)

So, my Crobat submission is ultimately geared towards supporting its team more than anything, between its new ability in Blood Bank, which can allow it to heal both itself and its replacement on switch, and the addition of Parting Shot to its learnset alongside a heightened 115 Speed. Toxic Spikes, and its new move Toxic Bite, serve as alternatives to Toxic and Poison Fang for spreading the Poison/Badly Poison status, with the former also being given to parallel Glimmora's association with the hazard, and the latter alongside the addition of Poison Fang being to supplement Blood Bank and its bite-based condition.

Physical.png
| 75 BP | 100% acc | 10 (16) PP | Lowers the target's Special Attack by 1 stage. Contact.
+ Thunder Wave, Nuzzle
So, some immediate comments on its abilities:
Sticky Hold, in part inspired by Hogwobblin's sub, replaces Own Tempo by in large as a flavor-pick, both contrasting Grafaiai's first ability of Unburden and because its saliva is repeatedly described as gooey, and is said to be usable as an adhesive when cooked. As for the competitive aspect, Sticky Hold serves to aid Lickitung in its goal to just, sit on the field and not worry about much.

Oblivious stays. While initially I wanted to do Immunity, inspired by Hematite, I've decided against it, because while my Lickitung sub does have leaning towards being a physical wall as opposed to Snorlax's special, I still felt it would be stepping on Snorlax's toes as a Normal-type wall. In any case, Oblivious is a particularly useful ability because it blocks Taunt, meaning Lickitung can without issue use any and every status move it has without interference, which is particularly important to it as its main way of buffing, healing, and supporting its team.

Normalize is admittedly more humorous than anything, though it does has the very specific niche of making both Body Press and Lickitung's new signature, Tongue-Lashing, Normal-type, thus granting STAB on these moves for big damage. That said, this does remove Lickitung's ability to hit Ghost-types in any capacity, so it's not particularly optimal.

Speaking of Tongue-Lashing, making it Ghost-type was also in part inspired by Hogwobblin's own comments and the reasoning of the already existing Lick being Ghost-type. In any case, while not STAB, it being Ghost-type does serve to give Lickitung the ability to hit Ghost-type, while also bolstering its own Sp.Def by lowering the target's Sp.Atk, of which this move was initially designed to be a Trop Kick clone, but then I figured I oughta buff its power a lil' more, and thus it became a Bitter Malice/Spirit Break clone. Anyways, as just mentioned, it lowers the target's Special Attack, which is meant to patch-up Lickitung's own poor Special Defense.

All that said, it does still keep Amnesia, which is perhaps just a bit more reliable at patching up its poor Special Defense.

Now, speaking of said Special Defense, that has been lowered as part of how I previously mentioned I had geared this Lickitung to being more Physically-oriented as opposed to Specially-oriented, to contrast the other Normal walls of Snorlax and Blissey, which are both heavily special oriented. On the topic of Physical stats, its Attack stat has also been bumped up to base 100, making the Attack boosts it receives from Curse all the more effective.

Thunder Wave and Nuzzle serve to allow Lickitung to spread a status other than Toxic, if it wants, while also, of course, being a very direct reference to how its mentioned many a times of how Lickitung's licks paralyze its prey.
