[OVERVIEW]

Regirock has many attributes that make it a solid choice as a Stealth Rock user in the NU tier. In particular, it is a great check to Fire-types such as Delphox and Incineroar, Flying-types such as Aerodactyl and Braviary, and other attackers like Sneasel and Mega Glalie. However, Regirock's pure Rock typing makes it vulnerable to several common attacking types, including Water, Ground, Fighting, and Grass, and prevents it from checking Electric-types as well as its fellow Stealth Rock setters in the tier thanks to its inability to block Volt Switch. Regirock also lacks any form of recovery outside of Leftovers and as such is prone to being chipped down over time, even by resisted attacks. Finally, Regirock can be a bit passive at points and often has to rely on Toxic to even touch Pokemon that hit it super effectively such as Dhelmise, Palossand, and Passimian.

Moves
========

Setting up Stealth Rock is the main use of Regirock on a team. It makes for a good setter due to its good bulk and nice set of resistances. Stone Edge can hit many of the targets Regirock checks defensively, especially threatening Xatu, which can block its use of Stealth Rock with Magic Bounce. Alternatively, Rock Slide can be used for a more reliable way of attacking, as it has more PP and higher accuracy. Earthquake hits opposing entry hazard users such as Steelix, Garbodor, and Rhydon for super effective damage. Hammer Arm can alternatively be used to hit Magnet Rise Klinklang as well as Pangoro in addition to still hitting Steelix and Rhydon. Finally, Toxic badly poisons Pokemon that Regirock can't really touch effectively such as Slowking and Seismitoad.

Set Details
========

Sturdy is used to avoid OHKOs from attacks such as All-Out Pummeling from Magmortar and +2 Tectonic Rage from Swords Dance Incineroar. Leftovers is the item of choice to give Regirock passive recovery, helping it last slightly longer during a match. The Attack investment allows Regirock to OHKO offensive Delphox and Aerodactyl with Stone Edge. The Special Defense investment on the other hand allows it to help check Fire-types such as Delphox and Magmortar while also giving the benefit of being able to take two Choice Specs Thunderbolts from Heliolisk a grand majority of the time. The rest of the EVs go into Defense to, along with an Impish nature and a gargantuan base Defense stat, allow Regirock to check multiple physically attacking threats such as Incineroar and Mega Glalie.

Usage Tips
========

Regirock can safely pivot into many key threats such as Sneasel and pivot Incineroar. It can easily use these Pokemon as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock, and setting up Stealth Rock early on is crucial. When you predict Xatu to switch in, though, using a Rock-type STAB move is preferred. Although Regirock can safely pivot in on Fire-types, super effective coverage such as Earthquake from Incineroar, Grass Knot from Delphox, and Focus Blast from Magmortar should be taken into account as well. Toxic is best utilized when you predict that a Pokemon that Regirock can't take on too well, mainly defensive Water-types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise, as well as Grass-types like Decidueye and Alolan Exeggutor, will switch in.

Team Options
========

Dhelmise can easily take on Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-types that Regirock hates facing and provides Rapid Spin support to help against Regirock's vulnerability to entry hazards, while Regirock can handle Flying-, Ice-, and Fire-type Pokemon for it in return. Other Grass-types such as Vileplume and Decidueye can provide similar defensive synergy. Water-type checks such as Blastoise, Druddigon, and Slowking are crucial, considering how badly Regirock performs against Water-types, especially bulky ones. Grass-type checks such as Incineroar, Golbat, and Ferroseed help out against Regirock's similarly poor matchup against the type. Wish users such as Vaporeon and Delphox can help with Regirock's lack of recovery. Vaporeon can also provide Heal Bell support, which helps with Regirock's vulnerability to burns and Toxic, and is immune to Water-type attacks thanks to Water Absorb. Spikes and Toxic Spikes users such as Weezing and Garbodor can form an entry hazard stacking core with Regirock. These two Pokemon in particular also resist Grass and Fighting, two types that Regirock is weak against. Pokemon that struggle with Fire-types such as Vikavolt and Comfey appreciate Regirock's ability to easily take them on. Similarly, Fighting-types like Medicham and Passimian appreciate Regirock's ability to take on Flying- and Poison-types like Sigilyph and Garbodor.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

While Regirock has a decently sized movepool, very few other options are worth considering, as most of the time, its offensive potential is very much overshadowed by Rhydon, which has a better STAB combination. Rock Tomb slows down foes while dealing damage at the same time. However, it is quite weak, and it only really comes into good effect against Pokemon like Xatu and Swords Dance Incineroar. Thunder Wave can be utilized over Toxic to slow foes such as Sceptile and non-Choice Scarf Passimian down, but often the chip damage that Toxic provides is much more valuable.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Thanks to hitting it super effectively and having the chance to burn Regirock with Scald, Pokemon such as Vaporeon, Slowking, and Seismitoad are good choices to take on Regirock. The best Regirock can do to these Pokemon is badly poison them, since they take rather paltry damage from Stone Edge, and the likes of Vaporeon and Slowking can heal themselves using Wish and Regenerator.

**Grass-types**: Pokemon such as Sceptile, Vileplume, Decidueye, and Dhelmise in addition to more niche options like Ferroseed and Whimsicott, can easily beat or cripple Regirock. In the case of Decidueye and Dhelmise, they can easily remove Regirock's Stealth Rock via Defog or Rapid Spin.

**Fighting-types**: The likes of Passimian, Scrafty, and Pangoro easily resist Regirock's STAB attack and either break through it or use it as setup bait in the case of Scrafty and Pangoro. Scrafty with Shed Skin also takes advantage of Regirock's reliance on Toxic.

**Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Palossand, Piloswine, and Steelix completely wall Regirock and hit it back with Earth Power or Earthquake. Steelix is even immune to Toxic.

**Residual Damage**: Regirock is easily pressured by entry hazards and status moves thanks to its lack of reliable recovery and lack of ability to heal off status.

Regirock @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 96 Atk / 16 Def / 148 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- whatever moves you want x2

This is the spread I use, minus speed creep that I filtered into SpD fully as that's just excess. Anyway, this attack allows you to OHKO offensive Delphox and 80 Def (standard) Aerodactyl with Stone Edge always. The bump in PDef helps in checking Mega Glalie, Sneasel, Incineroar, etc. as it is such a high (200) BST Defense wise. Leftover in SpDef to help check post-Z Magmortar, Delphox, etc. while living 2 Specs Heliolisk Thunderbolt 90% of the time.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Regirock has many attributes that can make it a solid choice as a Stealth Rock user in the NU tier.
  • In particular, it is a great check to Fire-types in the tier such as Delphox and Incineroar as well as other attackers like Accelgor and Sneasel.
  • Thanks to its humongous Physical bulk and solid Special bulk, it can afford to go mixed in its defenses.
  • Even though it isn't nearly as vulnerable to them as its competition like Rhydon, it still has trouble facing against Water- and Grass-type attacks, and other common Attacking types such as Ground and Fighting are ones that Regirock is weak to. simply noting type weaknesses is not really useful as an Overview point; if you note something about commonality of these types, then that would work for me.
  • Regirock lacks any form of reliable recovery, and combined with a vulnerability to entry hazards, can make it prone to being worn down quickly. it's not really any more vulnerable to any other grounded Pokemon; just say that it's prone to getting chipped down by resisted hits and entry hazards because of its lack of recovery outside of Leftovers
  • Regirock can be a bit passive at points, and often has to rely on status moves to beat Pokemon that hit it super effectively. it isn't beating Pokemon like Dhelmise and Vaporeon; rephrase this to say that it has a huge reliance on Toxic to make any sort of headway versus these kinds of Pokemon

Usage Tips
========
  • Regirock can safely pivot into many key threats in the tier such as Sneasel and Magmortar. cool, and?
  • Setting up Stealth Rock early on is crucial. When Xatu is on the field, though, using a Rock-type STAB move is preferred. combine this idea with the above; there are certain Pokemon Regirock can switch into and set Stealth Rock versus. also, note more that it's ideal to use the Rock-type move when predicting Xatu to switch in; no shit you should use your STAB attack versus it when it's actually on the field lol
  • Although it can safely pivot on Fire-types and Ice-types, super effective coverage as Earthquake from Mega Glalie and Incineroar, and Grass Knot from Delphox, should be taken into account as well. EQ from Mega Glalie does less than Double-Edge; no Ice-type is aiming to hit Regirock with specific coverage options. I'd rather see a Focus Blast Magmortar mention
  • Toxic is best utilized when a Pokemon that Regirock can't take on too well, mainly defensive Water-types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise, are on the field. Toxic is also its best bet versus Grass-types like Decidueye, Dhelmise, etc
I'm going to qc reject 1/3 this. this is nowhere near ready for qc given the complete lack of substance in team options and checks and counters. there is a lot of rewriting that I would have to do to get this in a good state for qc. I'm leaving above some feedback on the two sections that had reasonable content in them, but as you can see i'm having to say entirely too much here. please put this back into wip and have it fixed up within 72 hours, or I'll reassign this. if you need more time than that lmk.

  • Thanks to its humongous Physical bulk and solid Special bulk, it can afford to go mixed in its defenses. this sentence isn't really the idea you want to convey; I'd prefer it if you said something like "it functions as a great mixed wall" or something similar
  • Its pure Rock typing makes it vulnerable to several common attacking types, including Water, Ground, Fighting, and Grass. This also makes it so it can't check Electric-types as well as its fellow Stealth Rock setters in the tier thanks to the lack of a Ground sub-typing. sub-typing is not a thing. just say it lacks an Electric immunity lol
  • Regirock lacks any form of recovery outside of Leftovers, and combined with a vulnerability to entry hazards, can make it prone to being chipped down over time, even by resisted attacks. as I said prior, it isn't really any more vulnerable than say Dhelmise to entry hazards. just state it's prone to being worn down by chip damage due to it's lack of recovery outside of Leftovers

  • Setting up Stealth Rock is the main use of Regirock on a team. this does not tell me anything useful; you wanna inform the reader WHY Regirock is a solid Stealth Rock user
  • Earthquake can be used to hit Pokemon opposing entry hazard setters such as Steelix, Garbodor, and Rhydon for super effective damage.
  • Stone Edge is a strong STAB move that can hit many of the targets it checks defensively, but Rock Slide can alternatively be used for a more reliable way of attacking. something something threatens Xatu something
  • Toxic can be used to hit Pokemon that Regirock can't really touch effectively such as Slowking and Seismitoad.
Set Details
========

  • Clear Body is the preferred ability on Regirock because it ignores stat drops such as from Incineroar's Intimidate and Vileplume's Strength Sap, and also because not many Pokemon in the tier can OHKO Regirock from full health. I think both abilities are pretty useless tbh, but do not note Strength Sap here; Clear Body is beneficial if anything for Vileplume, since it means Strength Sap's healing with not get reduced. Note Parting Shot getting blocked if anything.
  • Leftovers is the item of choice to give Regirock passive recovery, helping it to last slightly longer during a match.
  • The Attack investment is mainly used to OHKO offensive Delphox and 80 Defense Aerodactyl from full with Stone Edge. no need to specify 80 Defense Aerodactyl; that's standard
  • The Special Defense investment allows it to help check Fire-types such as Delphox and Magmortar, while also giving the benefit of living two Choice Specs Thunderbolt from Heliolisk a grand majority of the time.

Team Options
========

  • Grass-types such as Dhelmise, Vileplume, and Alolan Exeggutor provide great defensive synergy with Regirock, since they can easily take on Water- and Ground-types that Regirock hates facing, while Regirock can handle Bug-, Flying-, Ice-, and Fire-type Pokemon. Dhelmise can also provide Rapid Spin support to help against Regirock's vulnerability to entry hazards, and has an immunity to Fighting, while Vileplume similarly takes on Fighting-types and can also spread status thanks to Effect Spore. I want Dhelmise explicitly mentioned in a line of its own. Those two have godly defensive synergy/synergy in general. Note other Grass-types after it.
  • Water-type resists such as Blastoise, Druddigon, and Slowking are crucial, considering how badly Regirock performs against Water-types, especially bulky ones.
  • Grass-type resists such as Incineroar, Golbat, and Ferroseed help out against Regirock's similarly poor match-up against the type. Grass-resistant Pokemon or Grass-type checks; not Grass-type resists.
  • Wish users such as Vaporeon and Delphox can help with Regirock's lack of recovery. Vaporeon also can provide Heal Bell, which helps with Regirock's vulnerability to burns and Toxic, and is immune to Water-type attacks thanks to Water Absorb.
  • Spikes and Toxic Spikes users such as Weezing and Garbodor can form a hazard stacking core with Regirock. These two Pokemon in particular also resist Grass and Fighting, two types that Regirock is weak against.
  • more emphasis on stuff that appreciates what Regirock brings would be nice.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Rock Tomb can be utilized to slow down opponents while attacking at the same time. Oftentimes it can be quite weak though, and it only really comes into good effect against Pokemon like Xatu or Swords Dance Incineroar.
  • Curse can be used to make Regirock slightly less passive, but it often doesn't have room for it. nope.
  • Drain Punch is the 2nd best form of recovery available to Regirock, but it is often quite weak against neutral targets, and the coverage it provides is better utilized by Earthquake.
  • Ice Punch can be utilized to hit Pokemon like Vileplume, Alolan Exeggutor, and Dhelmise on the switch, but otherwise doesn't provide much useful coverage. nope, Stone Edge is hitting most Grass-types just as hard; has shaky accuracy sure, but EQ coverage is not worth dropping imo.
  • Thunder Wave can utilized over Toxic to slow foes down, but often the chip damage that Toxic provides is much more valuable. close to saying nope here too
Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Thanks to hitting it super effectively, and having the chance to easily burn Regirock with Scald, Pokemon such as Vaporeon, Slowking, and Seismitoad are good choices to take on Regirock. These Pokemon are very much vulnerable to Toxic however. note how Toxic is essentially Regirock's only means of doing much to them given Stone Edge's lackluster damage output and Vaporeon and Slowking's access to recovery.

**Grass-types**: Pokemon such as Sceptile, Vileplume, and Decidueye, in addition to more niche options like Ferroseed and Whimsicott, can easily beat or cripple Regirock and in the case of Decidueye it can use Regirock as set up fodder.

**Fighting-types**: The likes of Passimian, Scrafty, and Pangoro easily resist Regirock's STAB and either break through it or use it as set-up bait in the case of Scrafty. Scrafty with Shed Skin also take advantage of Regirock's ability to spread Toxic.

**Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Palossand, Piloswine, and Steelix completely wall Regirock, and hit back with Earth Power or Earthquake. Steelix is even immune to Toxic.

**Residual Damage**: Regirock can easily be pressured by entry hazards and status moves since it is vulnerable to all of them thanks to its lack of reliable recovery and lack of ability to heal off status.

Sturdy really should be the first slash, if not the only slash, Clear body simply doesn't have enough use cases to justify the first slash, or, imo, a slash at all. Again, noone is bringing Incin in vs Regirock, and Silvally currently runs U-Turn. It ain't 2/3 until the check is implemented.

The Special Defense investment,(RC) on the other hand,(RC) allows it to help check Fire-types such as Delphox and Magmortar,(RC) while also giving the benefit of living two Choice Specs Thunderbolt Thunderbolts from Heliolisk a grand majority of the time. The rest of the EVs go into Defense,(RC) and,(AC) along with an Impish nature and a gargantuan base Defense stat, allow Regirock to check multiple physically attacking threats such as Incineroar and Mega Glalie.

Usage Tips
========

Regirock can safely pivot into many key threats in the tier such as Sneasel and pivot Incineroar (I wouldn't try to set Stealth Rock versus Swords Dance Incineroar ever lol). It can easily use these Pokemon as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock, and setting up Stealth Rock early on is crucial. When you predict Xatu to switch in, though, using a Rock-type STAB move is preferred. Although it can safely pivot in on Fire-types, super effective coverage such as Earthquake from Incineroar, Grass Knot from Delphox, and Focus Blast from Magmortar,(RC) should be taken into account as well. Toxic is best utilized when you predict that a Pokemon that Regirock can't take on too well, mainly defensive Water-types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise, as well as Grass-types like Decidueye and Alolan Exeggutor, will switch in.

Team Options
========

Dhelmise can easily take on Water-, Fighting-,(AC) and Ground-types that Regirock hates facing and provides Rapid Spin support to help against Regirock's vulnerability to entry hazards, while Regirock can handle Flying-, Ice-, and Fire-type Pokemon for it in return. Other Grass-types such as Vileplume and Decidueye can provide similar defensive synergy. Water-type checks such as Blastoise, Druddigon, and Slowking are crucial, considering how badly Regirock performs against Water-types, especially bulky ones. Grass-type checks such as Incineroar, Golbat, and Ferroseed help out against Regirock's similarly poor matchup(RH) against the type. Wish users such as Vaporeon and Delphox can help with Regirock's lack of recovery. Vaporeon also can also provide Heal Bell support, which helps with Regirock's vulnerability to burns and Toxic, and is immune to Water-type attacks thanks to Water Absorb. Spikes and Toxic Spikes users such as Weezing and Garbodor can form a hazard stacking core with Regirock.

Other Options
=============

While Regirock has a decently sized movepool, very few other options are worth considering, as most of the time, its offensive potential is very much overshadowed by Rhydon, which has a better STAB combination. Rock Tomb can be utilized to slow slows down opponents foes while attacking at the same time. Oftentimes However,(AC) it can be is quite weak though, and it only really comes into good effect against Pokemon like Xatu or and Swords Dance Incineroar. Thunder Wave can be utilized over Toxic to slow foes (give some example of fast Pokemon that may try to switch into Regirock to take advantage of it imo) down, but often the chip damage that Toxic provides is much more valuable.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Thanks to hitting it super effectively,(RC) and having the chance to easily burn Regirock with Scald, Pokemon such as Vaporeon, Slowking, and Seismitoad are good choices to take on Regirock. The best Regirock can down do to these Pokemon is use Toxic badly poison them,(AC) since they take rather paltry damage from Stone Edge, and the likes of Vaporeon and Slowking can heal themselves using Wish and Regenerator respectively.

**Grass-types**: Pokemon such as Sceptile, Vileplume, Decidueye, and Dhelmise in addition to more niche options like Ferroseed and Whimsicott,(RC) can easily beat or cripple Regirock and in .(AP) In the case of Decidueye and Dhelmise,(AC) they can easily remove Regirock's Stealth Rock via Defog or Rapid Spin respectively.

**Fighting-types**: The likes of Passimian, Scrafty, and Pangoro easily resist Regirock's STAB attack and either break through it or use it as setup(RH) bait in the case of Scrafty and Pangoro (Swords Dance Pangoro is very common and standard). Scrafty with Shed Skin also take takes advantage of Regirock's ability to spread reliance on Toxic.

**Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Palossand, Piloswine, and Steelix completely wall Regirock,(RC) and hit it back with Earth Power or Earthquake. Steelix is even immune to Toxic.

**Residual Damage**: Regirock can easily be is easily pressured by entry hazards and status moves since it is vulnerable to all of them thanks to its lack of reliable recovery and lack of ability to heal off status.

However, Regirock's isn't without its faults. Its pure Rock typing makes it vulnerable to several common attacking types, including Water, Ground, Fighting, and Grass, (comma) This also makes it so it can't check and prevents it from checking Electric-types as well as its fellow Stealth Rock setters in the tier thanks to its inability to block Volt Switch.

Moves
========

Setting up Stealth Rock is the main use of Regirock on a team. It makes for a good setter due to its good bulk and nice set of resistances. Stone Edge is a strong STAB move that can hit many of the targets it Regirock checks defensively, especially threatening Xatu, which can block its use of Stealth Rock with Magic Bounce. Alternatively, (AC) Rock Slide can be used for a more reliable way of attacking, as it has more PP and higher accuracy.
