If any of this information ever changes, such as the server's owner retiring or passing the server to someone else, you will need to contact us again as soon as possible. This is not only our main way of contacting your server in the event of a code or policy problem the two of us need to address, but is also the person we will treat as the owner should we be required to change anything about the server on our end (such as deleting it). Ideally the owner SHOULD be the person who is paying for or physically hosting the server, but at times this may be impractical.
Why do we need to do this?
It may seem a little heavy but there are a few reasons we needed to do this. One of these is that we receive a LOT of registration requests, sometimes from the same people mere weeks after their previous server went offline. This will help us keep track of server hosts, so if someone has proven they are unable to host servers appropriately we can approach their request with a little more caution. This does not necessarily apply to your servers, since most of you have been around for years. What does apply, however, is the problems of server disputes and simply giving us a way of contacting you when we really need to. There are times when Pokémon Showdown is needed to change things related to your server, going as far as deregistering the server should you decide you can no longer host it. In these events, we need one person who can tell us, undeniably, that this is the wishes of their server. There are also times when we need to let you, or perhaps all servers, know of a problem in Pokémon Showdown's code, or of a policy update or problem that may affect your server directly. We would greatly appreciate avoiding the hassle of hunting down a server admin, or leaving a message with another of your auth should we be unable to find one of your admins online.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but it is an update that has been much needed for many months now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or PM us and we will try my best to answer them. If you don't own a PS server, feel free to ignore this thread.
