Regulate NU/NFE Listings

Forgive me if I'm not understanding this process correctly.

Is there any particular reason that NFE Pokémon who have been deemed worthy of analyses are labeled NU rather than NFE? For instance, this thread contains a UU analysis that is in the works for Haunter. Haunter is currently labeled NFE, but I believe once the analysis is uploaded it will change to NU. This has happened with such Pokémon as Magneton and Porygon2 (Kakuna is the notable exception). I suppose it doesn't make much of a difference practically but it could cause some confusion for newcomers. Smogon strives for consistency of method and this is an area where such consistency seems to be lacking. It seems to me that non-UU (or Uber) NFEs should be labeled consistently NFE.

It sounds silly to keep them labeled as NFE, all that's doing is making their analyses entirely hidden to everyone who doesn't know they exist. If anything, they should all change to NU since there's quite a few of them now.

You can just change the tier threshold to NFE to see all of the analyses (empty or otherwise). Also, you can compile a list of NU/UU's that happen to be NFE to help others out.

I have discussed this issue on #C&C, and my preference is to include all Pokemon with a UU analysis in NU for increased visibility. This is consistent in that it gives a clear guideline, and means that the analyses which are written are not hidden beneath a huge pile of blank Pokemon. NFE is not competitively relevant, it has no impact on tiering, and should not be a major thing to consider when it comes to placing of on site material. As I see it NU is for Pokemon which have an analyses, but are not commonly used in any tier. Obviously LC is an exception, LC should have it's own tier separately from NU since putting LC 'mons in NU would be nonsense.

If the objection to this is naming ("NFE should be for Not Fully Evolved!") then we could simply find a new name for the Pokemon which are not good enough to get an analysis, Untiered or something along those lines.

I don't see that as an issue at all. Pokemon are tiered on usage. If some people use them for something, then they belong where they get used enough to be. Once they get an analysis, the NFE Pokemon should absolutely move to whatever tier they see enough usage to be in. (Basically always NU, except for Scyther and Blissey) Granted, people also use stuff like Magikarp, but we can cull that sort of thing in the QC stages.

This sounds like a sound standard to me.

Just wanted to bump this to ask if anything is being done. There are now a number of Pokemon labelled as NFE on the strategy dex that actually have analyses, and I'm pretty sure most of them have been forgotten.

Here are the ones I know about:

http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/electabuzz
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/shelgon
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/haunter

http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/hippopotas
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/machoke
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/monferno

EDIT: removed Dratini, added Gligar, Snover, Hippopotas
EDIT2: added Machoke
EDIT3: yeah and Monferno

I suggested this a very long time ago and nobody cared. :(

You're forgetting Gligar. And I don't think Dratini counts because it only has an LC analysis, whereas Gligar has a UU/NU analysis as well as LC. Do Hippopotas and Snover have one? We should really just go through every single competitively-viable NFE to check if they have analyses.

Don't forget Machoke! Also, there is a Monferno one that's one GP check away, so look out for that,
