In this metagame the typing of the move in the first slot is changed to the primary typing of the mon. If the mon has a secondary type, the typing of the move in the second slot is changed to the secondary typing of the mon. All other aspects of the move (power, accuracy, secondary effects, etc.) remain the same, allowing mons to run dangerous new STAB moves

For example:

:ss/thundurus-therian:
Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunderbolt
- Nasty Plot
- Agility

Thundurus-T has extremely dangerous attacking stats, but has always lacked Flying-STAB to use it with. No more. On this set, Sludge Bomb becomes an Electric-Type attack and still carries it's handy 30% poison chance, while Thunderbolt finally gives it the Flying-STAB it has always longed for.

FAQs:
Q: How do I change the typing of my moves?
A: This will be done automatically, just put the move in your first or second slot to change accordingly.

Q: What are "restricted moves"?
A: These are moves that would be overpowered if they were type changed, but are not overpowered in their standard form. As a result, they are allowed, but only in move slots that let keep default typing (2-4 for single typed mons, 3rd and 4th for dual typed).

Q: What if a mon changes type during battle?
A: The typing of your moves will change as well! Whether it's by your own action like Libero, or your opponent hits you with Soak, your move types will change according to the rules of the meta.

Q: What about Forest's Curse and Trick-or-Treat adding a third type?
A: Third types are not considered for move type changes.

Q: How do abilities that change the typing of the move (like Pixilate) work?
A: If a move is type changed to be normal type, it will be affected by Pixilate.

Q: What about moves that cannot be type-changed, like Weather Ball and Multi-Attack?
A: These moves are still unchangable. Weather Ball in the first slot would always be Normal if no weather, or the correct typing for the weather it is currently in.

Q: Where is this metagame playable?
A: It can be played on https://rom.psim.us/ as an actual format, including restricted moves and teambuilder! Huge shout out to urkerab to making that happen.

It can also be played on main as a challenge-only format! Rejoice!

Hey all, just wanted to put down some quick ideas before I go on my road trip

:ss/azelf:
Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Explosion (psychic)
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast

A suicide lead with STAB explosion + coverage for stuff that resists it? Sign me up

:ss/kommo-o:
Kommo-o @ Throat Spray
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst (dragon)
- Clanging Scales (fighting)
- Clangorous Soul
- Flamethrower

Broken set up move that then gives you +2 SpA with a 140 BP STAB move + another very consistent 110 BP STAB move + coverage. Fair and balanced!

:ss/gyarados:
Gyarados @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate / Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Whip (water)
- Double-Edge (flying)
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute / Earthquake

DD is a fantastic set-up move, and now you give Gyara a spammable Flying STAB, an even more powerful Water STAB, and a great coverage option. This should be a really fun mon to toy around with.

Thanks for starting this Unnerf, this should be a really fun tier to play. Can’t wait :)

Ok this is a really cool concept and I can't wait for it to come out. for now though
Dragapult @ Life Orb
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Body Slam
- Dragon Dance
- U-turn
Dragapult is finally able to have reliable physical ghost STAB since if someone uses phantom force on pult the opponent almost always switchs to a normal type or dark type or just a mon that eats up phantom force no problem now it's physcial ghost STAB is slighly weaker come out turn 1 and has 30% chance to paralyze
Noivern @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Boomburst
- Focus Blast
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
This set is just slightly worse aerilate boosted boom burst. also chance to miss more frequently and 10% chance to drop Sp Def is arguably better than a sharp decrease in Sp Atk but draco meteor still works for dragon stab
There are plenty of others such as any of the Forces of nature wanting good flying STAB (Yes even tornadus with only three good flying stab moves) but let me know what you all think of these two

Great start! But actually, Dragapult is banned (check out the banlist). I am excited to see how Noivern will do in yet another meta where it gets STAB Boomburst, though. I was thinking a taunt + flying super fangs set with HDB could be cool as well

Oh oops. I'll be honest I just kinda thought it was standard OU banlist with some exceptions for things that might get game breaking gimmicks like shedinja

I noticed that cinderace line isn't banned and honestly that's fine because they aren't even that bad for the meta, but they are the one of the only pokemon that don't have to use flip turn for a STAB pivot move with libero u-turn

Yeah, so an easy way to think of OMs (pretty much all of them barring things like Tier Shift which explicitly use Smogon tiers) is as if they're completely independent from usage-based tiers like OU. This means that to start with, everything is allowed and then things are banned if they're too broken for the premise of the metagame. For the sake of balance, a lot of OMs will have a banlist that looks similar to OU's at first glance, but that doesn't actually mean they're just taking OU's banlist and making a couple of changes. Things like Dragapult (and Dragonite) are banned because they're broken in Revelation Mons regardless of their placement in OU or below. In the same way, things like Cinderace aren't "unbanned" to be allowed here; it was just never banned to begin with. Hope that makes sense :]

i enjoy gimmicks AND losing

Endure leaves the user at 1 HP, giving max BP to Flail and Reversal (200 BP). Without something like Psychic Surge support this type of gimmick seems especially unreliable, since we'll likely see Extreme Speed flying (heh) everywhere.

I love Priority moves, even with Nite banned there are too many options for speed control, over half of them must be a bad but fun idea, the tier looks like a HO fest after all

This looks like a really fun meta, here are a few sets I thought of. Don't know how good they are(n't) yet.

Salamence @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Lum Berry
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly / Naive Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Roost / Fire Blast

Standard DD Salamence, only now it gets to swap out Dual Wingbeat for a 120 BP STAB Double-Edge! This thing absolutely wrecks stuff at +1, once Corviknight and Skarmory are down it can sweep teams. Even physically defensive Clefable takes a minimum of 71% from a +1 Double-Edge.

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature / Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab / Iron Tail
- Body Slam
- Ice Punch
- Fire Blast / Thunder Punch / Taunt / Stealth Rock / Sucker Punch

It finally has a physical Ground STAB boosted by Sheer Force! While I don't expect it to do too well against offensive teams, defensive teams will hate this thing as it can easily come in on stuff like Chansey and Clefable and start smacking stuff. You could run Iron Tail in the Poison slot if you don't mind the accuracy, as factoring in Sheer Force and STAB it has 195 power. Ice Punch hits Flying types. Fire Blast roasts Ferrothorn, Skarmory and Corviknight. Thunder Punch maintains coverage on Skarm and Corv, but also hits Slowking. If you don't need the coverage Taunt and Stealth Rock could work for extra utility. While it's not boosted by Sheer Force, Sucker Punch can let you catch faster Psychic and Ghost types.

252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Body Slam vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 363-426 (50.8 - 59.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Body Slam vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 213-252 (70 - 82.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 312-369 (93.4 - 110.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
4 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 92 SpD Corviknight: 242-286 (60.6 - 71.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Body Slam vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 218-257 (53.9 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 164+ Def Landorus-Therian: 265-312 (69.3 - 81.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 220 Def Zapdos: 213-252 (55.6 - 65.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Rest
- Sleep Talk / Amnesia

CroSteel, except now with a STAB that runs off its much higher Defence stat. You could use Bronzong if you want the Fighting neutrality and Ground immunity, but it is less bulky.

Hello, this meta looks very fun and is also led by friend UnnerfTalonflame, so I have to give it a shot. Some interesting mons at first glance include, obviously noivern and lando t but wont talk about them because they are watchlisted. Another mon, albeit taking advantage of a watchlisted move is Blacephalon.

:ss/blacephalon:
Blacephalon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Psyshock
- Explosion/Overheat
- Flamethrower
- Knock Off

Wasn't really sure what to put in the 1st slot so i decided a move that could hit blissey would be good. ghost is an incredibly spammable offensive type with few resistances, so ghost explosion/overheat will be spammable and do massive damage even to resists.

:ss/kartana:
Kartana @ Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
- Sacred Sword
- Swords Dance

Kart already has a decent set of stabs and doesnt get too many options, so i left leaf blade as being the grass stab. Steel type knock seems very threatening, sacred sword is there to hit steels and we all know what kartana can do with boosted attack.

:ss/crawdaunt:
Crawdaunt @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crabhammer
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet

Dark type close combat will hit very hard, albeit leaving daunt open to being revenge'd. Knock off is still a great move and crabhammer is still one of its best moves and aqua jet is for priority.
Thats all that pops out after a quick glance at teambuilder that hasnt been mentioned already (as far as i can see). And forgive me if my sets arent optimized, this was written up pretty quick. This meta looks very fun and I look forward to being able to play it!

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Superpower / Close Combat
- Close Combat / Superpower
- Stone Edge

Bulu looks like one of many brutal wallbreakers here. Notably it gets much better Fairy STAB.

:ss/avalugg:
Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Recover
- Toxic

+2 252+ Def Avalugg Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mew: 373-441 (109.3 - 129.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Avalugg and other Body Press abusers look funny.

EDIT:
:ss/kartana:

Kartana @ Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Leaf Blade
- Swords Dance
- Sacred Sword

The real set. Significantly better Steel STAB now.

Kartana @ Metronome / Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature / Adamant Nature / Timid Nature (if ur bad)
- Protect / Swords Dance / Tailwind
- Last Resort

This hits HARD. Not many times and only with one type, but HARD. It has the same problem Last Resort sets always have where it's exploitable and predictable once they know what it is, but if you get it to work the first time it comes out it's gonna go wild.

:ss/aegislash:

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature

Sign me up. Pretty much an amazing set in UU, and now it gets STAB Close Combat. Amazing.

:ss/porygon-z:
Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam [Normal]
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
- Thunderbolt

I'm not sure if Ice Beam is stronger than Tri Attack, but here goes. Free Adaptability STAB in the first slot. Yaaaay. Other than that you do get some cool things.

Designated zero-meta theory post.

I feel like some of the biggest winners are going to be Ghost, Rock, and Fairy.

Fairy may seem a bit weird but Play Rough is a moves for babies and some of our best physical Fairies don't even get it (eg Koko and Bulu.) Also
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stored Power
- Soft-Boiled
- Cosmic Power / Calm Mind
- Calm Mind / Focus Blast / Knock Off / some other bullshit idk

This set isn't good until you lose to it.

Ghost traditionally has meager attacking moves, only since Isle of Armor did we get a Physical Ghost move actually worth a damn, and Poltergeist is honestly a huge pain to use sometimes. Being able to use more reliable options sounds fun.

:aegislash:Aegislash could definitely run Close Combat for Ghost STAB, with it's massive 140 Attack not much would want to take this. Choice Band or SD both sound really good. Sacred Sword is another option for coverage or as a safer move for your Ghost STAB and simply pack regular CC in the back for Normals and Darks: it's still stronger than Shadow Claw.

Also I want to try :golurk:Golurk since it sounds interesting. Specifically running No Guard + Ghost-type Dynamic Punch. It's weaker than Poltergeist but you confuse the target on hit, and your target doesn't need to have an item to be hit, meaning no cheeky itemless answers or reservations about mindlessly spamming Knock Off. You still have CC for perfect coverage so there's little downside outside of running Golurk lmao.

Offensive Rocks will appreciate their STAB moves not being complete ass.

:lycanroc-dusk:Lycanroc-Dusk wants Fighting coverage so I think Psychic Fangs is a good option on its first slot. It's a reasonably strong move with a cool effect that can annoy Screen teams.
Not sure what :terrakion:Terrak wants to sub in yet but when it doesn't have to use trash like Rock Slide or Stone Edge I imagine it's scary to face.
:tyranitar:TTar similarly, I think this gets Body Press so that might be a fun combo on defensive sets.
:nihilego:Nihilego already has the rare reliable Rock STAB but being able fo run Sludge Bomb/Wave and keep it's other STAB is really cool, especially as it's a free upgrade in both power and secondary effect. There's other options as well.
:stakataka: Probably only good on Trick Room but we're talking about day one OM metagame, run Trick Room. ~150 BP Rock move is gonna be tough to switch into. Alternatively you could go the Body Press route and go to town.

Body Press in general sounds crazy BTW. Not sure what the best abuser will be quite yet but generally good mons like Corv would be dangerous with STAB Press (by some miracle the suggested spread of 168+ Defense in the calc does as much damage as no-investment Brave Bird to give you an idea). Mons with naturally high Defense sound pretty dumb too, like Regirock, Avalugg, Stakataka, or Steelix. Doesn't solve all of their flaws, but having an effective 120 BP move run off a maxed Defense stat sounds really powerful.

Oh my God I almost forgot that Flying is gonna be super good now too since you'll have real moves. Physical Attackers that aren't Birds are allowed to exist and Special Attackers can finally hit moves. Bring plenty of resists you'll need them.

Here's a dump of sets I came up with:

Definitely good
Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird / Iron Head (Electric)
- Quick Attack (Fairy)
- U-turn
- Roost

Deadly power vs juicy flinch chance, plus STAB Fairy priority.

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt / Thunder (Electric)
- Discharge / Thunderbolt / Thunder (Fairy)
- Grass Knot
- Volt Switch

Objectively better Fairy STAB.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb (Ghost)
- Sludge Wave (Poison)
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot

Strong STAB with Poison chance go brrrrr.

Thundurus (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt (Electric)
- Sludge Bomb (Flying)
- Volt Switch / Grass Knot
- Nasty Plot / Grass Knot / etc

See above. Also applies to Thundurus-Therian.

Aegislash @ Choice Band
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat / Head Smash (Ghost)
- Iron Head / Close Combat (Steel)
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak

Walls be damned.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off / Superpower / Double-Edge / Earthquake (Ice)
- Earthquake / High Horsepower / etc (Ground)
- Ice Shard
- filler

How tf do you stop this thing?

Potentially viable
Cloyster @ White Herb
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Pin Missile / Double Edge / etc (Water)
- Icicle Spear / Explosion (Ice)
- Shell Smash
- Rock Blast / Ice Shard / Icicle Spear

A classic, reimagined. Choose a stronger Water STAB and/or opt for an Ice Explosion.

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer (Ghost)
- Play Rough (Fairy)
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak

Still a glass cannon, but far more powerful.

Sharpedo @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake / Close Combat / Double-Edge (Water)
- Earthquake / Close Combat / Double-Edge (Dark)
- Protect
- Poison Jab / Close Combat / Earthquake

See above. Probably trash due to the inevitable influx of priority spam.

Aerodactyl @ Life Orb
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Tail / Psychic Fangs (Rock)
- Double-Edge (Flying)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake

See above. Probably trash due to the inevitable influx of priority spam.

Glastrier @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Chilling Neigh
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn (Ice)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- High Horsepower

Just use Mamoswine tbh.

Arctovish @ Life Orb
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Body Slam (Water)
- Fishious Rend (Ice)
- Super Fang
- Freeze-Dry

Fun fact: Unlike Bolt Beak, Fishous Rend is not restricted from changing type. Now it's an Ice move, and Body Slam is a Water STAB with a solid paralysis chance.

Drednaw @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash (Water)
- Megahorn (Rock)
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

Crazy strong under rain.

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics (Fighting)
- Close Combat (Flying)
- Swords Dance
- Substitute

Normally Hawlucha has a higher Fighting STAB than Flying STAb but now it's the opposite. Very helpful to have the Flying STAB always at max power in case the seed never gets to activate.

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed (Fighting)
- Close Combat (Steel)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake

Either STAB could be good for Extreme Speed. Coverage can vary.

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Sacred Fire
- Stomping Tantrum
- Stone Edge

It has Sacred Fire I guess. Probably mediocre.

Weavile @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Fake Out
- Ice Shard
- Triple Axel

Dual Ice priority is good.

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out (Dark)
- Play Rough (Fairy)
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Punch

Dual Dark priority is also good. Fairy Fake Out or Sucker Punch are worth considering too.

Lycanroc-Dusk @ Life Orb
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

A stronger, faster Terrakion that lacks Fighting STAB. Last move could be Earthquake alternatively, idk.

Haxorus @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

Super strong, with coverage to smash Dragon resists. Scale Shot over EQ could work.

Total bullshit Landorus-Therian
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake (Ground)
- Explosion (Flying)
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance

Standard HO lead, now with even more power.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake (Ground)
- Body Slam / Superpower / Explosion if you're a real one (Flying)
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Have fun dealing with this thing.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power (Ground)
- Sludge Bomb (Flying)
- Sludge Wave
- Calm Mind

A certified Bruh Moment.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake (Ground)
- Body Slam (Flying)
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

Idk about the EV spread but it probably doesn't matter much.

Welcome to Boomburst town!

Noivern @ Choice Specs
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst [Flying]
- Draco Meteor [Dragon]
- Flamethrower
- Switcheroo

Another iteration of Aerilate Noivern, just without the 1.2 boost Aerilate gives. Looks like it can also have some fun switching the positions of Boomburst and Draco Meteor to catch Electric and Rock types off guard.

Toxtricity @ Throat Spray
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst [Electric]
- Hyper Voice [Poison]
- Volt Switch
- Acid Spray

Stronger than its AAA counterpart, but still easily the worst of these three. Has the fun quirk of being able to run Hyper Voice as its non-Boomburst STAB for extra damage compare d to Sludge Wave/Thunderbolt, if at the tradeoff of losing status chances.

Kommo-o @ Throat Spray
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Clanging Scales [Dragon]
- Boomburst [Fighting]
- Flash Cannon
- Clangorous Soul

Still threatened by any Fairy in existence, but getting to use Boomburst as Fighting STAB means it doesn't have to rely on Focus [Miss] or Aura Sphere for STAB. Ironically this thing is countered by itself because of Soundproof, so it might be worth running a non-sound move (Draco Meteor or Flamethrower) as your Dragon STAB instead.

Love all the sets, keep them coming!

I wanted to share a few defensive mons that I think get something out of this meta.

Skarmory @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Roost
- Spikes / Defog / Whirlwind

STAB Flying Body Press sounds really neat, and gives Skarm significantly more offensive presence, while still being a physically defensive stalwart (+2 252+ Def Skarmory Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mew: 303-357 (88.8 - 104.6%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO). Avalugg, Corviknight, and Mew could also be abusers of STAB Body Press.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Recover
- Knock Off
- Haze
- Toxic / Toxic Spikes

Toxapex can combine Knock Off and STAB into one move slot, freeing up more move slots for useful status options. Clefable can do the same thing with Fairy Type Knock Off on its cleric sets.

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Foul Play
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Teleport

I have not figured out the best STAB Foul Play user, but STAB, non-Dark Foul Play is very interesting as well. Slowbro stands out as an already physically defensive pivot that would love to be able to punish set up. Mew, Rotoms, Klefki and Porygon2 also seem like good abusers as well.

Also, not a defensive set, but this is haunting my nightmares:

Lycanroc-Dusk @ Life Orb
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Fire Fang
- Accelerock
- Swords Dance
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Tough Claws Lycanroc-Dusk Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Mew: 442-523 (109.6 - 129.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Tough Claws Lycanroc-Dusk Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 320-378 (89.6 - 105.8%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Tough Claws Lycanroc-Dusk Accelerock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 235-278 (83.6 - 98.9%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
Help

Please enjoy these at-work sets I made (This is not an opportunity, but a demand)

:diancie:
Diancie @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Def / 152 SpA
Relaxed Nature
- Moonblast / Diamond Storm
- Body Press
- Mystical Fire
- Diamond Storm / Earth Power

Ngl this sounds kinda good? At least because of the Noivern Boomburst meta. Yeah the AV part isn't optimal but it does a lot to maximize bulk and it's not like you had Recovery anyhow. Rock Moonblast is a good move to throw out while your max Def Fairy-type Body Press (now dubbed Diancie's Body Pillow don't @ me) is a very strong STAB that not much wants to take. Mystical Fire provides good support and coverage. Last slot idk Diamond Storm is funny when it works but Corv probably just PP stalls you and it WILL miss while Earth Power is good for Poison types and some Steels like Heatran.

Defensive typing is awkward as hell but it's honestly pretty good versus a lot of Special Attackers, like Noivern and Thund-T.

:thundurus:
Thundurus (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave / Thunderbolt
- Sludge Bomb
- Nasty Plot
- Thunder Wave

That 111 Speed Tier sounds hella nice and Prankster TWave is pretty awesome support.
The choice between Bomb/Wave is 100% optimal as your main move versus Steels won't Poison anyhow, so might as well beef up damage there and leave our more spammable Flying-type Sludge Bomb for spreading status. TBolt is an option if you wanted to have a chance of paralysis instead. Nasty Plot for late-game cleanup duty and applying offensive pressure.

:moltres-galar:
Moltres-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 144 HP / 252 SpA / 112 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Fiery Wrath
- Nasty Plot
- Agility

This is primarily reserved for some HO flavors but having access to a good Flying STAB is, for the 57th time, extremely helpful. Use Screens for setup and watch as your opponent's defensive checks get flinched anyhow because GameFreak hates fair and balanced design. Idk the EVs for HO Goltres lmao figure it out yourself.

:rotom-wash:
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 60 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Discharge
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp

Straightforward. Hydro Miss is lame when compared to a Water move that can paralyze and makes my teambuilding demon ever more frustrating when unprepped for.

:togekiss:
Togekiss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 192 Def / 68 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Flamethrower
- Heat Wave
- Roost

I am looking forward to experimenting with unique moves like Future Sight. Here Togekiss uses broken Fairy typing to make walls experience absolute terror. Flamethrower and Heat Wave round out coverage and with their 20% Burn chance can help apply a lot of pressure/suffering. Not the strongest user, but it has good stats everywhere it needs and a great typing.

:marowak-alola:
Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Flare Blitz
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance / Knock Off

This is a simple improvement of the Trick Room classic: Poltergeist does bad things like miss, discourage Knock Off spam (I'm specifically running Trick Room to AVOID using my brain), and if meta enough people will start running itemless Slowbro just to piss you off. Rock Head + Double Edge solves this fallacy by being all around more reliable and even stronger! Because you didn't KO everything already! Basically just 100% accuracy the set so the team style is more consistent.

I too was looking for a new Foul Play user but have come up short. I think Amoonguss has potential but both STABs are exploitable and outside of Regen + Spore it sorta just sits there. Which is fine as a defensive pivot, but it still feels off.

:ss/kartana:

Was curious what this beast could do, since Kartana has a history of getting banned from OMs, but surprisingly it doesn't really benefit that much. Leaf Blade is already the strongest regular move this thing can learn, and it really doesn't want to give up Saced Sword as coverage, so unless you want to delve into nuking things with STAB Giga Impact or do something with STAB Last Resort, the best you're gonna get is replace Smart Strike with X-Scissor or Brick Break. Or if you want it to favor Steel STAB over Grass STAB, put Leaf Blade in slot 2 and use X-Scissor or Brick Break as your Grass STAB. I guess you could give it STAB Knock Off but that also seems like a move you'd want to keep as coverage.

These are probably terrible, but they look fun.

:ss/Malamar:
Malamar @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Liquidation
- Taunt
- Substitute
Contrary boosting using a STAB move, and the Dark type is really good for this due to its great neutral coverage. Malamar also benefits from a much better physical Psychic move. It now has no coverage for opposing Darks, but it has some good tools for functioning as a stall breaker. It is still brought down by its bad stats.

:ss/Golurk:
Golurk @ Life Orb
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Earthquake
- Drain Punch
- Rock Polish
A major improvement now that No Guard Dynamic Punch is Ground STAB. It also appreciates a strong physical Ghost move that can't be played around like Poltergeist. Still slow and frail though.

:ss/Moltres:
Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
- Will-O-Wisp
- Burn Up
- U-turn/Defog
- Roost
I have no idea whether there is any actual value to running this sort of set. Mainly posting it to jumpstart discussion of completely forgotten moves that never normally see use, but could have some niche function. In this case, Burn Up gives Moltres a high-powered, 100% accurate Flying move, and it can try the whole type-removal gimmick without actually losing STAB on it. Probably pointless.

:ss/Victini:
Victini @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Blue Flare
- Future Sight
- V-create / Bolt Strike
- U-turn
This set might actually be decent. Victini has a ton of high-powered moves to explore, but what interests me is the Fire-type Future Sight. It gets U-turn to pivot to a combo-partner. V-create allows it to create its own combo, a physical-special fiery wall of doom (if you can manage to stay in for a few turns), while Bolt Strike gives you coverage.
