Welcome one and all to RMT of the Year 2024.
This year has been an incredible year for the RMT section, and it's time to recognize the very BEST in RMT with awards for multiple categories. In this thread we will nominate and ultimately select the very best our section had to offer, and winners will be awarded a very very very handsome line of text to flaunt in your signature for the rest of time!!

To get real for half a second, the motivation from this project is to recognize some absolutely cool stuff that gets posted in here that may not make its way into greater circles of recognition. The section is truly a cool place to be and I've enjoyed my time here greatly so far.
With that being said let's jump right into the categories!!

Best Presentation: RMTs in this category bring the style and pizzazz. Nominees for this category show us that not only is it cool to have a good team, but it's even cooler if you can weave in a theme, include original artwork, or otherwise make the team feel like more than just a squad of pokemon to battle with. These authors make their threads a joy to read and put a real piece of themself into the art. All tiers are eligible to be considered for this award.

Best Written: This category seeks to award the best written RMT of the year. When explaining their team, these authors leave no stone unturned. Through their writing we come to know the incredible nuances of their counters and game plans, their lead matchups and how they handle their worst weaknesses, and ultimately we come to know more about the metagame itself just by how the team is played. Nominees for this award may include humour, personal anecdotes, calculations, tips and tricks, or backstory on the building process. All tiers are eligible to be considered for this award.

Most Creative Build: The RMT forum is a place where people gather not to just post their latest Kingambit + Great Tusk hazard stack squad, but to really pull out all the stops with their latest "unusual" build. This category seeks to recognize those teams that went above and beyond in their creativity, utilizing pokemon no one thought viable or unpopular strategies and making them work. The creativity of this section is what really makes me want to try a new team out on the ladder, and the nominees for this category are the best of the best in that aspect. All tiers are eligible to be considered for this award.

Most Impressive Performance: No great RMT thread is complete without a showcase of how far a team has gone. Whether through a top ladder position, an undefeated streak of games, or an important tournament appearance, teams that win are the teams that really impress us. This category seeks to recognize the teams that matched their strength with their builder's' skill, and churned out impressive results to match. Nominees will be judged with respect to the difficulty of their ladder with some consideration for how standard the team is. All tiers are eligible to be considered for this award.

Best RMT: No award show is complete without the top prize, and here it is. Best RMT combines all aspects of what makes a thread great. From presentation and visuals, great writing and in-depth analysis, impressive team performance and a creative build, these nominees showcase the very best of the section and the community when it comes to building teams.
This award will be awarded separately to each of OU, UU, RU, NU, PU, LC, Ubers, Monotype, National Dex, VGC + DOU, Old Generations, and Other Metagames

Reasoning (optional): Let me be clear, this RMT was so long, it had to be made into two posts. It contains backstory, motivation, a training arc, in-depth analysis of the thought processes behind each mon, the changes over time, move choices, and even a well written conclusion. This is quite literally a full story in RMT form, an in-depth analysis of the team design and comp, and oh yeah it topped ladder with 94% gxe. This RMT takes time and care to explain the thought processes behind the building of the team, going over even the motivations and processes that led up to the creation of the team, with full in-depth analysis of why each mon and move are important in a meta where literally anything can be run.

Bossnite Stall​

Bossnite, the pokemon that has sat on the entire tier in the last year with no regard for what's in front of it. The linchpin of the most overwhelmingly dominant SM stall. Smashing ladder for a nine month span, constantly getting 90+ GXE and #1 ranks by multiple players. Undefeated in tournament play which includes Santu and Empo in Masters and then got a 6-0 in its SPL debut. The SM tier will see "BOSSNITE!" countless times more as it continues its unstoppable wrath. While Bossnite is the best of the best, it's only one pokemon, what makes up the broken...

Reasoning (optional): The team is all kanto in national dex gen 9 but that is really just the teaser. The entire thread is a rap? poem? Anyway it dishes rhymes and rhythms keeping while looking good during it. Truly the most stylish thread of the year

Reasoning (optional): One of the shitmon teams of all time, the Lapras team enjoyed a brief successful period on ladder as a Kyurem stand in that excels due to Water Absorb in a meta where Ogerpon-W was running wild. Lapras is truly not a real pokemon but this one made us all think for a minute.

Reasoning (optional): Despite some extracuriccular activities leading to a permanent ban, mimi's chansey squad had an extremely impressive run as not only a #1 ladder peak but also as the core of a first place finish in an OLT ladder cycle. Insane team and one using a lot of not very popular pokemon.

Reasoning (optional): When opening up this rmt the first question anyone has is why Probopass and how does it work. Luckily the post has an extremely extensive and well written explanation detailing exactly why Probopass was chosen, the specific use for all its moves, and the precise way to use it to its full potential. Beyond that the team has an extensive threat list, a Q&A section for general tips and tricks, and a long list of successful replays against different team styles. This is truly one of the best written RMTs of the year.
 
I have to commend the RMT staff for putting this idea to a reality, I think this a great project to bring to the RMT community #MakeRMTgreatagain

Reasoning (optional): While the RMT admits that this might not be the true origin of Roar Zamazenta (since Finch was using a Roar + 3 attacks set back in dlc 1) this is where ID + Roar took off and dominated the meta, and it forced a lot of teams to improve foward, picks like Rocky Helmet Gholdengo and Okidogi became popular for being able to check it, then more Roar mons came along like Moltres, overall, it started a butterfly effect that influenced the metagame as we know it

Reasoning (optional): if anyone played UU recently they probably ran into this team. I’m not a huge advocate for stall but it’s hard to give this one its props even for hardcore HO mains. 90 gxe is insane lol. This post also does a very good job assessing the threats against the team and what to do when you face them.
