[OVERVIEW]
Rotom-H's offensive and defensive qualities make it a good offensive pivot and wallbreaker. On the offensive end, Nasty Plot in tandem with its STAB attacks overwhelms Electric-resistant Pokemon like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn. Its good defensive typing gives it the ability to directly pivot into prominent Pokemon like Clefable, Zapdos, and Magearna. Its ability to force these Pokemon out gives it multiple opportunities to set up Nasty Plot or gain momentum with Volt Switch. However, it is weak without a boost, and it can struggle to find setup opportunities without letting checks like Heatran and Mega Tyranitar in. Its reliance on Heavy-Duty Boots also means it's incapable of properly checking Knock Off users like Mega Scizor and Kartana without entry hazard removal. Lastly, while it has good bulk and great resistances, its inconsistent form of recovery in Pain Split makes it unreliable defensively.

Set Description
========

Nasty Plot boosts Rotom-H's average Special Attack to threatening levels, letting it break through Pokemon such as Clefable and Toxapex. Volt Switch is chosen over Thunderbolt or Discharge so Rotom-H can pivot out of poor matchups, such as against Mega Tyranitar, Heatran, and Kommo-o. Pain Split gives Rotom-H some longevity and eases the matchup against Blissey and Chansey. Toxic allows Rotom-H to cripple Pokemon that check it, such as Garchomp, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, Mega Tyranitar, and Hydreigon. The damage from Toxic poison will eventually wear down these Pokemon to the point where they will struggle to switch into Rotom-H or its teammates. Will-O-Wisp is an option in the last slot that can cripple physical attackers that attempt to switch in on Rotom-H, such as Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar. However, Toxic is preferred for its higher chip damage, which can help Rotom-H deal with Pokemon such as Mega Latias, Hydreigon, and Gastrodon. Hidden Power Ice is an option to smack Garchomp, as well as Gliscor and Landorus-T without reducing Rotom-H's Special Attack. Heavy-Duty Boots protects Rotom-H from Stealth Rock damage, which allows it to consistently take advantage of Pokemon such as Clefable and Zapdos. The EV spread allows Rotom-H to outrun Modest Heatran and avoid the 2HKO from Choice Band Kartana's Leaf Blade. The remaining EVs are dumped into Special Defense with a Calm nature in order to switch into Clefable, Zapdos, and Magearna more comfortably.

Usage Tips
========

Switch Rotom-H into Pokemon that cannot harm it, such as Corviknight, Clefable lacking Knock Off, and Zapdos. It is generally safe to set up Nasty Plot once Rotom-H is on the field. However, if sturdy Ground-types like Garchomp, Gastrodon, and Mega Swampert are on the opposing team, it would be better to switch into a teammate that can manage these Pokemon. Toxic can also be used against these switch-ins, as badly poisoning a check can often make it easier for Rotom-H to overcome it later. If the opposing team's primary Rotom-H counterplay is not a Ground-type, such as Heatran, Mega Tyranitar, or Kommo-o, it should pivot out using Volt Switch to gain momentum. Be wary of switching into Pokemon that could severely dent Rotom-H with a coverage move, such as Psychic from Volcarona or Focus Blast from Magearna. Likewise, be wary of Toxic from Pokemon like Toxapex, Heatran, and Chansey, as being badly poisoned severely cuts into its longevity. As Rotom-H needs its Heavy-Duty Boots to function, be mindful of switching into Pokemon that potentially have Knock Off, like Clefable, Tangrowth, Ferrothorn, and Toxapex.

Team Options
========

Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Slowbro appreciate Rotom-H using Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn as setup fodder. In return, Tapu Fini can be a Defogger and a check to Hydreigon and specially defensive Heatran, Toxapex can check Mega Tyranitar, and Slowbro can form a strong pivoting core with Rotom-H. Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn can check Ground-types and Water-types like Garchomp and Gastrodon, which can easily deal with Rotom-H. Ferrothorn can also set Spikes to weaken Rotom-H's switch-ins. Furthermore, Pursuit trappers such as Mega Tyranitar and Weavile are greatly appreciated for their ability to trap and remove Mega Latias, Mega Latios, and Heatran, some of the best checks to Rotom-H. Pokemon that appreciate Rotom-H's ability to pivot them into battle, like Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, and Weavile, are good teammates. Because it lacks reliable recovery, Wish Clefable makes an excellent teammate by providing recovery and checking Hydreigon. In addition, Pokemon that can be used as backup checks to Pokemon like Magearna and Volcarona when Rotom-H is weakened, such as the aforementioned Ferrothorn and Mega Tyranitar, make great partners.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Discharge is an option to more easily deal with bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini, as well as spread paralysis to Pokemon like Heatran and Volcarona, but it is difficult to justify over Toxic and Pain Split.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Garchomp is the most dangerous Pokemon for Rotom-H to face, as it can easily set up with Swords Dance and destroy Rotom-H with Stone Edge or Devastating Drake. Hydreigon, Kommo-o, Mega Latias, Mega Latios, and Kyurem can also come in on Rotom-H freely thanks to their resistances and good bulk. Hydreigon and Mega Latias can set up against it, Kommo-o can set Stealth Rock, Mega Latios can fire off strong attacks, and Kyurem can simply Pressure stall it. While it cannot switch-in as easily as the others, Dragapult is capable of taking Rotom-H out with a boosted Dragon Darts. It should be mentioned that all of these Pokemon can easily be crippled by Toxic, however, and Garchomp, Dragapult, and Kommo-o will not take kindly to Will-O-Wisp.

**Water / Ground types**: Mega Swampert, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad all come in easily on Rotom-H. They can then proceed to set Stealth Rock or spread Toxic poison. Rotom-H cannot pivot out of these Pokemon with Volt Switch, which further exacerbates its weakness to these Pokemon. However, all of these Pokemon are crippled by Toxic.

**Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar**: Both variants of Tyranitar stomach all of Rotom-H's attacks with ease and force it out with Stone Edge. They can then heavily chip it with Pursuit or set Stealth Rock in Mega Tyranitar's case. However, they can be worn down by Volt Switch and Toxic or crippled by Will-O-Wisp, so both are not long term answers.

**Fire-types**: Rotom-H cannot deal with Heatran, bulky Volcarona, and Mega Charizard X if they are at high health. Heatran can wear it down with Toxic and set Stealth Rock, while Volcarona and Mega Charizard X can use Rotom-H as setup fodder. However, Heatran lacks reliable recovery and is worn down quickly, while the latter two can be crippled by Toxic, and Rotom-H can easily grab momentum off of all of them with Volt Switch.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off severely cripples Rotom-H by removing its Heavy-Duty Boots. Pokemon that Rotom-H checks, like Clefable and Ferrothorn, can often carry the move, so it is easier for it to be pressured with entry hazards and strong hits.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Greninja and Mega Medicham are capable of outspeeding Rotom-H and easily taking it out. It is also susceptible to strong priority, such as Fake Out from Mega Lopunny and Sucker Punch from Bisharp if it has been chipped. However, none of these Pokemon can switch in without risking major damage.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Rotom-H‘s offensive and defensive qualities make it a good offensive pivot and wallbreaker.
  • On the offensive end, its coverage is very difficult to deal with, as typical Electric checks such as? are pounded by boosted Overheat and Hidden Power Ice.
  • Its good defensive typing gives it the ability to directly pivot in to several walls and strong attackers prominent Pokemon, such as Clefable, Corviknight, Mega Metagross without Zen Headbutt and Galarian Darmanitan. (Tornadus-T is a crucial mention) (Merge these three points, as they are very interconnected contentwise)
  • Its ability to force these Pokemon out gives it multiple oppurtunities to set up Nasty Plot or pivot out of a bad situation grab momentum with Volt Switch.
  • It is weak without a boost, so Pokemon it intends to check like Clefable can stomach its attacks easily. Setting up Nasty Plot could risk a switch-in to a counter making it reliant on setting up in order to threaten common defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex and Clefable, which can give free switches to the likes of Mega Tyranitar and Heatran.
  • Its reliance on Heavy-Duty Boots means it’s a poor check to Knock Off users like Kartana and Tornadus-T. (This is not true, it still is a good check to Tornadus-T. Rephrase this into 'means it is prone to Knock Off from the likes of Tornadus-T and Kartana, and therefore needs good hazard-removal in order to consistently check what it intends to check.')
  • While it has good bulk and great resistances, its lack of any reliable recovery leaves it unable to check Pokemon in the long term.
  • This is compounded by taking severe damage from attacks that Pokemon it checks can run like Zen Headbutt from Mega Metagross and Psychic from Volcarona. This is largely a moot point

  • Nasty Plot boosts Rotom-H’s average Special Attack to threatening levels, letting it break through Pokemon such as Clefable and Chansey Toxapex.
  • Volt Switch is chosen over Thunderbolt so Rotom-H can pivot out of poor matchups, such as against Mega Tyranitar, Kyurem, Kommo-o and Toxic Heatran.
  • Hidden Power Ice allows Rotom-H to combat the Ground-types, such as Zygarde, Landorus-T and Gliscor, and Garchomp, that would otherwise beat it seek to pivot into Rotom-H. It also provides a harder hit on other Ground-types such as Landorus-T and Gliscor, without lowering its Special Attack. (Landorus-T and Gliscor are already hit hard by a boosted Overheat, therefore HP Ice does not necessarily allow Rotom-H to 'combat' these)
  • Pain Split is an option over Hidden Power Ice to give Rotom-H some longevity, but it is not preferred to the former’s excellent coverage and the lack of consistent recovery. Pain Split also considerably improves the matchup against Chansey
  • Heavy-Duty Boots protects Rotom-H from entry hazard Stealth Rock damage, which allows it to hold off consistently check Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Tornadus-T and Darmanitan-Galar for a good amount of time.
  • The listed EVs allow Rotom-H to outrun max Speed neutral-natured Zygarde, as well as OHKO bulkier variants with a boosted Hidden Power Ice.

Usage Tips
========

  • Switch Rotom-H into Pokemon that cannot harm it, such as Corviknight, Clefable and Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn commonly runs Knock Off, consider mentioning Zapdos instead
  • It is generally safe to set up Nasty Plot once Rotom-H is on the field. However, if sturdy Ground-types like Mega Swampert and Seismitoad (Gastrodon is more notable than both of these) are on the opposing team, it would be better to switch to a teammate that can manage these Pokemon such as?.
  • If the opposing team’s primary Rotom-H counterplay is not a Ground-type (examples; mention Mega Tyranitar and Heatran in particular), it should pivot out using Volt Switch to gain some damage on the switch momentum.
  • Be wary of switching into Pokemon that could severely dent Rotom-H with a coverage move, such as Zen Headbutt from Mega Metagross, Psychic from Volcarona or Superpower from Galarian Darmanitan.
  • As Rotom-H needs its Heavy-Duty Boots to function, be mindful of switching into Pokemon that potentially have Knock Off, like Clefable, Ferrothorn and Tornadus-T. (Tangrowth is an important mention)
Add the fact that you have to be careful about setting up on Pokemon that may carry Toxic, such as Heatran and Toxapex.

Team Options
========

  • Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Toxapex and Slowbro appreciate Rotom-H using Grass-types such as? as setup fodder. Tapu Fini can be a check to Dragon-types irrelevant and Specially Defensive Heatran (Tapu Fini also provides Defog-support), while Slowbro forms a strong pivoting core with Rotom-H. (It is also relevant to note that Water-types can pivot into water moves from the likes of Ash-Greninja and Mega Blastoise)
  • Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn can check force out Ground-types like Mega Swampert, Mega Tyranitar and Gastrodon, which can easily deal with Rotom-H. Tangrowth can easily check Zygarde and relieve pressure on Rotom-H to check Mega Metagross, while Ferrothorn can set Spikes to weaken Rotom-H’s switch-ins.
  • Pokemon that appreciate Rotom-H’s ability to pivot them into battle, like Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham and Choice Specs Dragapult are good teammates (Mega Metagross and Galarian Darmanitan are very relevant mentions here). The aforementioned Dragapult and Galarian Darmanitan can also make strong VoltTurn cores with Rotom-H.
  • Because it lacks reliable recovery, Pokemon that can be used as backup checks when Rotom-H is weakened, such Mega Metagross and Mega Tyranitar, make great partners.
Wish support from Clefable is extremely valuable! Merge this with last point

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Firium Z can be used as a powerful nuke against anything, OHKOing Pokemon like Hydreigon and even Chansey after some boosts. However, this compromises Rotom-H’s pivoting capabilities, and these Pokemon can often be dealt with by Rotom-H’s teammates.
  • A support set of Pain Split / Overheat / Thunderbolt Volt Switch / Defog or Will-O-Wisp can be run to maximize Rotom-H’s ability to check Pokemon like Mega Metagross and Galarian Darmanitan, but it is often very weak and can lose to several of the tier’s Stealth Rock setters, like Heatran and Mega Tyranitar. I don't think this is worth a mention at all

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water/Ground types**: Mega Swampert, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon all come in easily on Rotom-H. They can then proceed to set up Stealth Rock in the former two’s case or spread Toxic in the latter two cases. Rotom-H cannot pivot out of these Pokemon with Volt Switch, which further exacerbates its weakness to these Pokemon.

**Dragon-types**: Hydreigon, Kommo-o and Kyurem can come in on Rotom-H freely thanks to their resistances and good bulk allowing them to ignore HP Ice. Hydreigon can OHKO Rotom-H or use this opportunity to set up a Nasty Plot, Kommo-o can set up Stealth Rock and Kyurem can simply Pressure stall it. While it cannot switch-in as easily as the other three, Dragapult is capable of taking Rotom-H out with Draco Meteor or a boosted Dragon Darts.

**Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar**: Both variants of Tyranitar stomach all of Rotom-H’s attacks with ease and force it out with Stone Edge. They can then heavily chip it with Pursuit or set up up Stealth Rock in Mega Tyranitar’s case. However, non-Assault Vest variants these can be worn down by repeated Volt Switches in conjuction with entry hazards, so it is not a long term answer.

add Fire-types such as Specially Defensive Heatran, opposing Rotom-H and Bulky Volcarona here

**Knock Off**: Knock Off severely cripples Rotom-H by removing its Heavy-Duty Boots. Pokemon that Rotom-H checks, like Tornadus-T, Tangrowth and Ferrothorn, can often carry the move, so it is easier for it to be pressured with hazards and strong hits.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Greninja and Zygarde are capable of outspeeding Rotom-H and easily taking it out. It is also susceptible to strong priority, such as Water Shuriken from Ash-Greninja and Fake Out and Quick Attack from Mega Lopunny if it has been chipped. However, none of these Pokemon can switch in without risking major damage.

add Toxic

Set Description

  • Nasty Plot boosts Rotom-H’s average Special Attack to threatening levels, letting it break through Pokemon such as Clefable and Toxapex. This is getting into GP stuff, but Smogon uses the Oxford comma, and you didn't in a lot of these, so I'd fix that up to make it easier on the GP team.
  • Volt Switch is chosen over Thunderbolt so Rotom-H can pivot out of poor matchups, such as against Mega Tyranitar, Heatran, and Kommo-o.
  • Toxic allows Rotom-H to cripple Pokemon that check it, such as Garchomp, Mega Tyranitar, and Seismitoad. Toxic damage will eventually wear down these Pokemon to the point where Rotom-H’s attacks can KO them. Kinda sounds like Toxicing them is just a tool for Rotom-H and Rotom-H only. Just talking about wearing them down and making them easier to KO in general makes more sense.
  • Pain Split is an option over Toxic to give Rotom-H some longevity, as well as to ease the Chansey matchup, but it is not preferred to the latter’s ability to easily cripple checks and Pain Split’s inconsistent recovery.
  • Will-O-Wisp is an option in the last slot that can cripple physical attackers that attempt to switch in on Rotom-H, such as Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar. However, Toxic is preferred for its higher chip damage, which can help Rotom-H deal with Pokemon such as Kyurem and Seismitoad.
  • Discharge can also be used in the last slot to deal consistent damage to Pokemon like Slowbro, Tapu Fini and Toxapex without switching out. Its paralysis chance makes it preferred over Thunderbolt and is also helpful in crippling Pokemon like Heatran.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots protects Rotom-H from Stealth Rock damage, which allows it to consistently check Pokemon like Mega Metagross and Galarian Darmanitan. Mention the caveats for both of these two i.e Zenless MegaGross and Scarf Darm
  • The EV spread allows Rotom-H to outrun Modest Heatran and take hits from Mega Metagross and Galarian Darmanitan as much as possible.

Usage Tips
========

  • Switch Rotom-H into Pokemon that cannot harm it, such as Corviknight, Clefable and Zapdos.
  • It is generally safe to set up Nasty Plot once Rotom-H is on the field. However, if sturdy Ground-types like Garchomp, Gastrodon and Mega Swampert are on the opposing team, it would be better to switch to a teammate that can manage these Pokemon like Tangrowth.
  • If the opposing team’s primary Rotom-H counterplay is not a Ground-type, such as Heatran, Mega Tyranitar, or Kommo-o, it should pivot out using Volt Switch to gain momentum.
  • Toxic can also be used against switch-ins that aren’t Heatran, as poisoning a check can often make it easier for Rotom-H or its teammates to overcome it later.
  • Be wary of switching into Pokemon that could severely dent Rotom-H with a coverage move, such as Zen Headbutt from Mega Metagross, Psychic from Volcarona or Superpower from Galarian Darmanitan.
  • Likewise, be wary of Toxic from Pokemon like Toxapex, Heatran, and Kommo-o, as being poisoned severely cuts into Rotom-H’s longevity.
  • As Rotom-H needs its Heavy-Duty Boots to function, be mindful of switching into Pokemon that potentially have Knock Off, like Tangrowth, Ferrothorn and Tornadus-T.

Team Options
========

  • Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Toxapex and Slowbro appreciate Rotom-H using Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn as setup fodder. In return, all three can pivot into Water-type moves from Ash-Greninja and Mega Blastoise. Tapu Fini can be a check to Specially Defensive Heatran as well as a Defogger, while Slowbro forms a strong pivoting core with Rotom-H. Both can also relieve pressure on Rotom-H to check Galarian Darmanitan, and, in Slowbro’s case, Mega Metagross.
  • Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn can check Ground-types and Water-types like Gastrodon and Mega Blastoise, which can easily deal with Rotom-H. Tangrowth can relieve pressure on Rotom-H to check Mega Metagross, while Ferrothorn can set Spikes to weaken Rotom-H’s switch-ins. Mention that Tangrowth can also threaten Garchomp.
  • Pokemon that appreciate Rotom-H’s ability to pivot them into battle, like Mega Lopunny, Mega Metagross, Choice Specs Dragapult, and Galarian Darmanitan are good teammates. The latter two can also make strong VoltTurn cores with Rotom-H.
  • Because it lacks reliable recovery, Wish Clefable makes for an excellent teammate by providing recovery. In addition, Pokemon that can be used as backup checks to Pokemon like Tornadus-T and Volcarona when Rotom-H is weakened, such Mega Metagross and Mega Tyranitar, make great partners.

  • Firium Z can be used as a powerful nuke, OHKOing Pokemon like Hydreigon and even Chansey after some boosts. However, this compromises Rotom-H’s pivoting capabilities, and these Pokemon can often be dealt with by Rotom-H’s teammates.
  • Hidden Power Ice is an option to immediately damage Garchomp while smacking Gliscor and Landorus-T without reducing Rotom-H’s Special Attack. However, the coverage is otherwise useless, and Rotom-H’s other options are often enough to severely cripple Garchomp.
  • Defog can be used to remove hazards from Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Landorus-T, but Rotom-H’s terrible match-ups against common Stealth Rockers like Garchomp and Heatran makes it a poor choice. Rockium Landorus is a very viable set so I wouldn't even put Lando. You can maybe talk about removing Pex's Toxic Spikes but if anything use the point to emphasize that Fog Heattom has problems in this regards.
Take the opportunity to mention a couple of alternative speed tiers here, like the few that we talked about, although stress that they aren't as consistently useful and tend to cut into Heattom's bulk.
Checks and Counters
===================

Mention that they don't want to eat a Toxic on the switch.

**Dragon-types**: Garchomp is the most dangerous Pokemon for Rotom-H to face, as it can easily set up Swords Dance and destroy it with Stone Edge or Devastating Drake. Hydreigon, Kommo-o and Kyurem can also come in on an unboosted Rotom-H freely thanks to their resistances and good bulk. Kyurem takes too much from Overheat if Heattom has a NP. Hydreigon can use this opportunity to set up Nasty Plot, Kommo-o can set up Stealth Rock and Kyurem can simply Pressure stall it. While it cannot switch-in as easily as the other three, Dragapult is capable of taking Rotom-H out with Draco Meteor or a boosted Dragon Darts. It should be mentioned that all of these Pokemon can easily be crippled by Toxic, however, and Garchomp and Kommo-o will not take kindly to Will-O-Wisp.

However, they can be worn down by repeated Volt Switches in conjunction with Toxic damage and hazards, so it is not a long term answer. Mention that Will-O-Wisp is crippling to them.

**Fire-types**: Rotom-H cannot deal with Heatran or Bulky Volcarona at all if they are at high health. Heatran can wear it down with Toxic or set up Stealth Rock, while Volcarona can use Rotom-H as setup fodder. However, Heatran lacks reliable recovery and is worn down quickly, and Rotom-H can easily grab momentum off of these Pokemon with Volt Switch. It can Toxic Bulkarona!

**Knock Off**: Knock Off severely cripples Rotom-H by removing its Heavy-Duty Boots. Pokemon that Rotom-H checks, like Tornadus-T and Ferrothorn, can often carry the move, so it is easier for it to be pressured with hazards and strong hits.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Greninja and Garchomp are capable of outspeeding Rotom-H and easily taking it out. It is also susceptible to strong priority, such as Water Shuriken from Ash-Greninja and Fake Out and Quick Attack from Mega Lopunny if it has been chipped. However, none of these Pokemon can switch in without risking major damage. You've already mentioned that Chomp is a problem and it can come in pretty freely, so find a different example.

**Toxic**: Toxic severely cuts into Rotom-H’s longevity by putting it on a timer. Pokemon such as Chansey, Gastrodon and Kommo-o can easily wear Rotom-H down with Toxic.

[OVERVIEW]

Rotom-H‘s offensive and defensive qualities make it a good offensive pivot and wallbreaker. On the offensive end, Nasty Plot in tandem with its STABs is difficult to wall, as typical Electric checks like Ferrothorn and Garchomp are overwhelmed by Overheat or crippled by Toxic respectively. This line is rather odd to me because it implies people seek for typical Electric checks in this metagame, however, in this metagame, there are no Eelectric-types that are important enough to worry about, so these Pokemon aren't really going to be used as typical Eelectric checks. I'd recommend simply saying that Rotom-H is good at overwhelming typical Eelectric-resistant Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Tangrowth, and Garchomp instead, as it doesn't contradict the state of the metagame and still gets the message across. Its good defensive typing gives it the ability to directly pivot in to prominent Pokemon like Clefable, Tornadus-T, Mega Metagross without Zen Headbutt and Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan. Mega Metagross without Zen Headbutt is unviable. If you'd really like to mention Mega Metagross, just mention that you've got the potential to pivot around it and force it out with Rotom-H. This is probably too complicated for an overview, though, so I wouldn't recommend it. Its ability to force these Pokemon out gives it multiple oppurtunities to set up Nasty Plot or gain momentum with Volt Switch. However, it is weak without a boost, so it is forced to set up against bulky Pokemon like Toxapex and Clefable, letting checks like Heatran and Tyranitar in for free. I don't really understand the correlation between being weak without a boost and having to set up against bulky Pokemon. I think you're trying to mesh 2 points into one that simply don't work here. Its reliance on Heavy-Duty Boots means it’s a incapable of properly checking Knock Off users like Tornadus-T and Kartana without hazard removal. Lastly, while it has good bulk and great resistances, an inconsistent form of recovery in Pain Split leaves it unable to check the Pokemon it wants to check over time. It's not necessarily unable and even can check them in a pinch, just say it's unreliable defensively.

Set Description

Nasty Plot boosts Rotom-H’s average Special Attack to threatening levels, letting it break through Pokemon such as Clefable and Toxapex. Volt Switch is chosen over Thunderbolt or Discharge so Rotom-H can pivot out of poor matchups, such as against Mega Tyranitar, Heatran, and Kommo-o. Toxic allows Rotom-H to cripple Pokemon that check it, such as Garchomp, Mega Tyranitar, and Seismitoad. There's definitely better examples than Seismitoad, such as Hydreigon. Hydreigon does have reliable recovery, but a poisoned Hydreigon severely struggles to check what it wants to consistently. Toxic damage will eventually wear down these Pokemon to the point where they will struggle to switch into Rotom-H or its teammates. Pain Split is an option over Toxic to give Rotom-H some longevity, as well as to ease the Chansey matchup, but it is not preferred to the latter’s ability to easily cripple checks and Pain Split’s inconsistent recovery. Will-O-Wisp is an option in the last slot that can cripple physical attackers that attempt to switch in on Rotom-H, such as Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar. However, Toxic is preferred for its higher chip damage, which can help Rotom-H deal with Pokemon such as Kyurem and Seismitoad. Discharge can also be used in the last slot to deal consistent damage to Pokemon like Slowbro, Tapu Fini and Toxapex without switching out. Its paralysis chance makes it preferable to Thunderbolt, and it is also helpful in crippling Pokemon like Heatran. I'd prefer to have this in Other Options. Also, with the resurgence of Garchomp, Hidden Power Ice is definitely worth a mention here. Heavy-Duty Boots protects Rotom-H from Stealth Rock damage, which allows it to consistently check Pokemon like Mega Metagross without Zen Headbutt and Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan. The EV spread allows Rotom-H to outrun Modest Heatran and take hits from Mega Metagross and Galarian Darmanitan as best as possible. Neither of the mentions here are relevant.

Usage Tips
========

Switch Rotom-H into Pokemon that cannot harm it, such as Corviknight, Clefable and Zapdos. It is generally safe to set up Nasty Plot once Rotom-H is on the field. However, if sturdy Ground-types like Gastrodon and Mega Swampert are on the opposing team, it would be better to switch to a teammate that can manage these Pokemon like Tangrowth. What about crippling them with Toxic? You should definitely add Garchomp here too. If the opposing team’s primary Rotom-H counterplay is not a Ground-type, such as Heatran, Mega Tyranitar, or Kommo-o, it should pivot out using Volt Switch to gain momentum. Toxic can also be used against switch-ins that aren’t Heatran, as poisoning a check can often make it easier for Rotom-H to overcome it later. It's a bit weird to mention that this late into the paragraph, as it's definitely a top priority. As I noted earlier, it'd probably fit best after the sentence about sturdy Ground-types. Be wary of switching into Pokemon that could severely dent Rotom-H with a coverage move, such as Zen Headbutt from Mega Metagross, Psychic from Volcarona or Superpower from Galarian Darmanitan. Zen Headbutt on Mega Metagross isn't a coverage move, and is on every Mega Metagross, I'm really not a fan of how often it is suggested to switch into Mega Metagross or one that "lacks Zen Headbutt", which does not exist. Likewise, be wary of Toxic from Pokemon like Toxapex, Heatran, and Kommo-o, as being poisoned severely cuts into Rotom-H’s longevity. Toxic Kommo-o isn't relevant at this point in time. As Rotom-H needs its Heavy-Duty Boots to function, be mindful of switching into Pokemon that potentially have Knock Off, like Tangrowth, Ferrothorn and Tornadus-T.

Team Options
========

Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Toxapex and Slowbro appreciate Rotom-H using Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn as setup fodder. It doesn't relieve any pressure off Rotom-H to switch into Mega Metagross because there should be no pressure to do so. Grass-types like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn can check Ground-types and Water-types like Garchomp, Gastrodon and Mega Blastoise, which can easily deal with Rotom-H. Tangrowth can answer Garchomp and relieve pressure on Rotom-H to check Mega Metagross, while Ferrothorn can set Spikes to weaken Rotom-H’s switch-ins. Pokemon that appreciate Rotom-H’s ability to pivot them into battle, like Mega Lopunny, Mega Metagross, Choice Specs Dragapult, and Galarian Darmanitan are good teammates. Choice Specs Dragapult is awful. Consider adding Mega Tyranitar, as it can Pursuit trap a whole load of Pokemon that Rotom-H invites into play. The latter two can also make strong VoltTurn cores with Rotom-H. Because it lacks reliable recovery, Wish Clefable makes for an excellent teammate by providing recovery. In addition, Pokemon that can be used as backup checks to Pokemon like Tornadus-T and Volcarona when Rotom-H is weakened, such Mega Metagross and Mega Tyranitar, make great partners.

Other Options

Firium Z can be used as a powerful nuke, OHKOing Pokemon like Hydreigon and even Chansey after some boosts. Hydreigon's not really a good example here, as +2 doesn't OHKO, while Hydreigon easily 2HKOes or can even OHKO depending on the moveset. However, this compromises Rotom-H’s pivoting capabilities, and these Pokemon can often be dealt with by Rotom-H’s teammates. The latter always holds true and isn't really relevant to the reasoning for running Firium Z. Hidden Power Ice is an option in the last slot to immediately damage Garchomp while smacking Gliscor and Landorus-T without reducing Rotom-H’s Special Attack. However, the coverage is otherwise useless, and Rotom-H’s other options are often enough to severely cripple Garchomp. Make sure to move this to Set Description. Defog can be used to remove hazards from Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Toxapex, but Rotom-H’s terrible match-ups against common Stealth Rockers like Garchomp and Heatran makes it a poor choice. Defog isn't viable. Various Speed benchmarks can be used to outrun certain Pokemon, but this will cut into Rotom-H’s bulk significantly. If you're not going to mention the benchmarks, you might as well not mention this.

Checks and Counters

While it cannot switch-in as easily as the other three, Dragapult is capable of taking Rotom-H out with Draco Meteor or a boosted Dragon Darts. It should be mentioned that all of these Pokemon can easily be crippled by Toxic, however, and Garchomp and Kommo-o will not take kindly to Will-O-Wisp. Neither will Dragapult.

They can then heavily chip it with Pursuit or set up up Stealth Rock in Mega Tyranitar’s case. However, they can be worn down by repeated Volt Switches in conjunction damage from Toxic or crippled by Will-O-Wisp, so it is not a long term answer.

**Fire-types**: Rotom-H cannot deal with Heatran, Bulky Volcarona, or Mega Charizard X if they are at high health. Heatran can wear it down with Toxic or set up Stealth Rock, while Volcarona and Mega Charizard X can use Rotom-H as setup fodder. However, Heatran lacks reliable recovery and is worn down quickly, while the latter two can be crippled by Toxic, and Rotom-H can easily grab momentum off of both with Volt Switch.

**Toxic**: Toxic severely cuts into Rotom-H’s longevity by putting it on a timer. Pokemon such as Chansey, Gastrodon, and Kommo-o can easily wear Rotom-H down with Toxic. This isn't quite that important.

Discharge is an option to more easily deal with bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini, as well as spread paralysis to Pokemon like Heatran and Volcarona, but it is difficult to justify over Toxic and Pain Split.

Checks and Counters
===================

It should be mentioned that all of these Pokemon can easily be crippled by Toxic, however, and Garchomp, Dragapult, (AC) and Kommo-o will not take kindly to Will-O-Wisp.

**Water / Ground types**: Mega Swampert, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad all come in easily on Rotom-H. They can then proceed to set up Stealth Rock or spread Toxic poison.

They can then heavily chip it with Pursuit or set up up Stealth Rock in Mega Tyranitar's case. However, they can be worn down by Volt Switch and Toxic or crippled by Will-O-Wisp, so it is both are not a long term answers.

**Fire-types**: Rotom-H cannot deal with Heatran, bulky Volcarona, and Mega Charizard X if they are at high health. Heatran can wear it down with Toxic and set up Stealth Rock, while Volcarona and Mega Charizard X can use Rotom-H as setup fodder.
