Oathkeepre Lax is listed as a counter but was nominated as a check, might want to adjust that.

The few that did vote it as a counter might want to change their vote(s) as well.

Or don't to annoy Oathkeepre.

I originally had it as a check but was stupid for not noticing that it was actually a counter. The Snorlax that was submitted is indeed a counter. For those who did vote Snorlax as a check, I politely asked them to submit 1 more check to offset this. I appreciate your concern though!

Alright folks, this was a very nice first week for SS RU Victim of the Week! My sincerest apologies for goofing up and having the funniest thought that Snorlax was a check to that Salazzle set lol. Lesson learned there. Congrats to all who got points.

Honorable mentions:

Scarf Rillaboom (check), like Scarf Passimian, can OHKO with Earthquake. Boltund (check) outspeeds and OHKOs with Psychic Fangs. Finally, Indeedee-F (counter) can come in on either of Salazzle's moves and live them plus OHKO right back with STAB Psychic/Psyshock.

- Mystical Fire
- Psyshock

AV Rajah as a counter
Copperajah @ Assault Vest
Ability: Heavy Metal
EVs: 252 Atk / 72 SpD / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Power Whip
- Superpower
- Heat Crash

Copperajah is a great check to Indeedee as it takes little damage from its STABs and is 3HKOed by Mystical Fire at worst. The worst that could happen is being tricked which would make it weaker against mystical fire and way less useful, but it's not in the set and it's fine if your opponent needs its scarfer which is very likely earlier in the match, therefore you can switch in and proceed to threaten its team in the next turn with its crazy attack stat. All moves have 120 BP vs Indeedee and every single one of them KOes after Rocks with Heavy Slam being a 100% KO without them, so you can just pick the right coverage to hit whatever Indeedee might switch into. Btw in case anyone's wonderning the spread outspeeds 0 EV Vileplume (if you're using you might want some more EVs cuz speed wars, you know).

252 SpA Indeedee Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 92 SpD Assault Vest Copperajah: 112-134 (29 - 34.8%) -- 6.9% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Indeedee Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah in Psychic Terrain: 99-117 (25.7 - 30.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

252+ Atk Copperajah Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 348-411 (133.3 - 157.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Copperajah Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 232-274 (88.8 - 104.9%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

Edit: Changing it for counter cuz thats how it should be considered on this project it seems.

reserving steelvally

:ss/silvally-steel:

hills and vallies (Silvally-Steel) @ Steel Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 196 Atk / 60 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Swords Dance

60 SpD evs allow you to dodge the 2hko from mystical fire and kill it back with a meaty smack from multi attack. should go without saying that Steel types don't fear Psychic STAB or dazzling gleam coverage, and it has the added benefit of being the only trick-immune Steel-type in the tier. you can forgo SpD and invest all into attack if you feel ballsy with your prediction game. either way, silvsteel is a popular defensive mon that fits on many teams and has the added benefit of being one of the best indeedee switches in the tier.

Barraskewda @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Psychic Fangs
- Crunch
- Close Combat

With Choice Scarf, Barraskewda is able to outspeed even a speedy scarfer like Indeedee and completely eviscerate it with Crunch or a Liquidation after rocks. However, it cannot affored to switch into any of Indeedee's moves and will take heavy damage or get OHKO'd. Because of this, Scarf Barraskewda is a check.
252+ Atk Barraskewda Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 298-352 (114.1 - 134.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Barraskewda Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 237-280 (90.8 - 107.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Indeedee Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Barraskewda in Psychic Terrain: 286-337 (108.7 - 128.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

steelix as check

:ss/steelix:
Steelix @ Figy Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Body Press
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

:steelix: with figy berry is a very good check, as steelix can not only switch in on a mystical fire but can also take 3 hits from indeedee
and then proceed to use heavy slam to easily 2-ohko as two mystical fires puts steelix in range of the figy berry activation, which gives steelix 1 more additional turn
which allows it to get rid off indeedee with either of its move-options, whereas leftovers make steelix get 3hit koed therefore steelix will die 1 turn sooner
as leftovers recovery only would add upto 18.75% but figgy berry is a clean 33% increase. Figy
berry also helps in other scenarios and setting up stealth rocks is very crucial in some games, so having basically and practically 1 more turn is really good in most cases.

calcs:
252 SpA Indeedee Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Steelix in Psychic Terrain: 78-93 (22 - 26.2%) -- 8.6% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Indeedee Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Steelix: 35-42 (9.8 - 11.8%) -- possible 9HKO
252 SpA Indeedee Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix in Psychic Terrain: 40-48 (11.2 - 13.5%) -- possible 8HKO
252 SpA Indeedee Mystical Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Steelix: 134-158 (37.8 - 44.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

4 Atk Steelix Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 153-181 (58.6 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Def Steelix Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 171-202 (65.5 - 77.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Steelix Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 183-216 (70.1 - 82.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I nominate Xatu as a check

Xatu @ Heavy-Duty Boots/Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 144 SpD / 60 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Psychic
- Heat Wave
- Teleport/Grass Knott/Calm Mind/Toxic

Xatu thanks to his type resists psychics attacks without being weak to Fire/Fairy which means that Indeedee can't hit super effective Xatu . Xatu even without any bulk investment can avoid the 2hko of any scarf Indeedee attack with the exception of hyper voice. But if spdef it can even check Hyper Voice scarf Indeedee and non-hyper voice specs Indeedee and if you don't run boots it can avoid the 2hko after rocks of any non-hyper voice scarf Indeedee set. Xatu has access to reliable recovery so it cant get worn down like most Indeedee checks. Xatu has three main problems which make it a check and not a counter, the first one being psychic spdef drops, because of Xatu being only able to 4hko Indeedee at best ( or a 3hko if you get lucky with rolls after rocks) , Indeedee can spam psychics fishing for a drop , scarf needing two drops and specs only one, this can be fixed by running toxic xatu which means that Xatu can stall out Indeedee while roosting or CM xatu, the second problem for Xatu it's trick if Indeedee tricks Xatu, Indeedee it's going to win the 1v1 100% of the time and the last of Xatu problems it's specs hyper voice (and the random sball Indeedee) which can 2hko Xatu.

Calcs:
Scarf Indeedee:
-252 SpA Indeedee Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Xatu: 129-153 (38.6 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
-252 SpA Indeedee Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Xatu in Psychic Terrain: 91-108 (27.2 - 32.3%) -- 78.1% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Specs Indeedee:
-252 SpA Choice Specs Indeedee Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Xatu in Psychic Terrain: 137-162 (41 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
-252 SpA Choice Specs Indeedee Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Xatu: 193-228 (57.7 - 68.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Xatu vs Indeedee:
-0 SpA Xatu Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Indeedee: 68-81 (26 - 31%) -- 22.6% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

reserving snorlax

:ss/snorlax:

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDef
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Darkest Lariat
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Nominating Snorlax as a Counter

252 SpA Indeedee Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 4+ SpD Snorlax: 106-126 (20.2 - 24%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery (queue fart noise)

252 SpA Indeedee Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Snorlax in Psychic Terrain: 210-247 (40 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Snorlax Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 268-316 (102.6 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Snorlax isn't too worried about other moves apart from Psyshock. Coming in healthy Snorlax takes max 47.1% from Psyshock, and can threaten back with a OHKO Darkest Lariat.

Snorlax has to be careful with mind games here as if it chooses to try and curse (anticipating a switch out) and indeedee is kept in, a KO is likely from a 3rd Psyshock. For that reason it is best to play it safe and darkest lariat, luring out whatever counter the opponent has to Snorlax and allowing you to respond.

If need be and another teammate is being threatened, Snorlax can switch in to a different move other than Psyshock from indeedee as none do very much damage, and still be able to take a single Psyshock and kill back with OHKO Darkest Lariat. Using Rest to heal off that damage, this qualifies Snorlax to be one of the few counters to Indeedee-M in today's RU Meta.

Nominating Runerigus as a check

Runerigus @ Leftovers
Ability: Wandering Spirit
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Will-O-Wisp
- Toxic Spikes

After struggling and struggling to find a check or a counter, I have realised that Runerigus is in fact, a Pokemon in the RU tier. It does not really get damaged that much by any of Indeedee's moves other than Psychic, which is a 3HKO, on top of this it is able to 2HKO it with Earthquake. However you cannot really hard switch into Indeedee since you fail to OHKO it with Earthquake, so slow pivoting or sacking to bring in this mon safely would tend to work when using this mon. Even outside of this, the sheer utility this mon gives with rocks, tspikes and burning is incredibly valuable, but with all that out of the way I can say that this is a solid check.

252 SpA Indeedee Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Runerigus: 58-69 (18.1 - 21.5%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Indeedee Mystical Fire vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Runerigus: 55-65 (17.1 - 20.3%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Indeedee Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0+ Def Runerigus in Psychic Terrain: 99-117 (30.9 - 36.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Indeedee Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Runerigus in Psychic Terrain: 127-150 (39.6 - 46.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Runerigus Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 168-198 (64.3 - 75.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Nominated as a check

1584890364548.png

Scrafty @ Leftovers
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Rest
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch

252 SpA Indeedee Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Scrafty: 200-236 (59.8 - 70.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Scrafty Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 312-368 (119.5 - 140.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Scrafty is halway between a solid check and a soft counter, as it can pretty much tank everything from Indeedee, even a x4 Dazzling Gleam... plus the fact that you can't Trick it. One error and it's an easy Bulk up. Just make sure that all the fairy/fighting pokemons are removed.
In the actual metagame, Scrafty is happy when facing the Mantine/Steelix/Vileplume core, or some heavy stalls with Sableye. With the combination of Shed Skin + Rest, it's almost impossible to defeat it in the long run.

Finally, Scrafty can even force out Subtoxik Salazzle, which is probably the most annoying mon right now.

4 SpA Salazzle Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Scrafty: 70-84 (20.9 - 25.1%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

I strongly believe that Scrafty can be the next big thing with a proper team around him.

Nominating Orbeetle as a Check

826[1].png

Orbeetle @ Weakness Policy
Timid Nature
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
- Sticky Web
- Stored Power
- Recover
- Bug Buzz
Orbeetle isn't used for much other than webs of course, but even with barely any investment, this thing still eats special hits from Indeedee.

252 SpA Indeedee Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Orbeetle: 122-144 (46.7 - 55.1%) -- 62.9% chance to 2HKO
And with one hit from it, you get your Weakness Policy off and bop it at +1.

+1 252 SpA Orbeetle Bug Buzz vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Indeedee: 332-392 (127.2 - 150.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
