Salazzle @ Black Sludge
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
- Substitute
- Protect

This set excels at breaking defensive cores of types such as Poison, Water, and Steel for Poison-type teams. Thanks to Corrosion, Salazzle is able to cripple Pokemon such as Heatran, Celesteela, Toxapex, and Mega Venusaur with Toxic. Stalling for Toxic turns using Substitute and Protect also allows Salazzle to scout and find more opportunities to cripple opposing teams. Its above average Speed lets it stall out threats like Latios and Garchomp if Salazzle is behind a Substitute. Poison teams tend to struggle against Steel, as stallbreaker Heatran weakens the defensive core and opens the team to Pokemon such as Mega Scizor and Excadrill. Salazzle patches up this matchup by pressuring Steel teams when it can set up a Substitute by forcing a switch and cripple Heatran with Toxic. Once Heatran is out, Salazzle threatens the rest of Steel teams with Flamethrower. Nihilego is a good partner for this set, as it can not only provide Stealth Rock support but also take advantage of weakened defensive cores by cleaning late-game.

I think you should give context as to why Steel specifically is difficult for Poison, as that matchup is the majority of what you're talking about in this spotlight.

Also could mention its high speed and what that enables it to do / outspeed.

Otherwise, great job. QC 1/1

(this was a bit longer than 1,000 characters originally, so I tried to cut down on its length. I marked these changes with (length) so you can preserve the original wording if you think it is necessary)

With this set, Salazzle This set (length) excels at breaking bulky defensive cores (by definition these cores would be bulky, right?) of various types such as Poison, Water, (comma) and Steel for Poison-type teams. Thanks to its ability (length) Corrosion, Salazzle is able to cripple Pokemon such as Heatran, Celesteela, Toxapex, and Mega Venusaur with Toxic. (period: this sentence is a bit long, and the phrase at the start doesn't apply as much to this second half) and stalling Stalling for Toxic turns by using Substitute and Protect which also allows it Salazzle to scout and find more opportunities to cripple opposing teams. Poison teams tend to struggle against Steel, (comma) as stallbreaker Heatran weakens the defensive core with stallbreaker set and opens the team up to Pokemon such as Mega Scizor and Excadrill. Salazzle patches up this matchup by pressuring Steel teams well where when (is this what you mean here?) it can set up a Substitute by forcing a switch and cripple Heatran with Toxic. Once Heatran is out, Salazzle threatens the rest of Steel teams effectively (length) with Flamethrower. Its above average Speed lets it stall out threats like Latios and Garchomp if Salazzle is behind a Substitute. (this sentence may fit better before you start to discuss the Poison and Steel matchup. the transition from the previous sentence made it seem to me as though Latios and Garchomp were applicable to that matchup, when that's not the case) Nihilego is a good partner for this set, (comma) as it can not only provide Stealth Rock support to wear down opposing teams (length: this is fairly self-explanatory so I think it can be deleted) but it can (since you have "it can" before the "not only", you don't need it again before the "but also") also take advantage of weakened defensive core cores by cleaning late game. late-game.
