Sandmen

Sandmen

Conformity is strength. I eventually gave in and tested a few sand teams.
This one has the greatest win percentage for me, but I know it can be better.
The thing is, if I move one step forward in one spot, I move two steps
backward somewhere else. So, I have chosen to get this team rated. Don't
worry, I will try to make this fun. And without further ado:

In-Depth Analysis
..........

Tyranitar
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 180 SpA / 76 SpD
-Stealth Rock
-Fire Blast
-Ice Beam
-Crunch

He's the mac daddy of them all. It is a sandstorm team, so it was either the
tyrant or the hippo. The EVs and nature make it a Special Tank(somewhat).
Stealth Rock is vital and turns some important 2HKOs into OHKOs. Fire Blast
crushes Nattorei who are foolish enough to come in. It also does decent
damage to other Steels too, such as Bronzong. But for most of them, like
Jirachi and Metagross, Tyranitar just skedaddles. Ice Beam is mostly for the
Dragons. I am probably the only fool that keeps his Tyranitar in on Garchomp
though. And Crunch is for STAB and so Blissey/Chansey doesn't wall me
completely.

I used to run substitute, but Tyranitar lost so much versatility when running
Stealth Rock and Substitute. With Fire Blast and Ice Beam, Tyranitar hits
neutral on nearly everything. One big problem on this team is a weakness to
Water types. Poor Tyranitar here is usually the first to go against them as I
rely on his sky high Special Defense. I'm looking to fix this somehow.

Landorus
Item: Choice Scarf
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Sand Force
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-U-turn
-Hammer Arm

When a sandstorm is up, Landorus is the greatest revenge killer. Other than
that, he can switch in to the ever common fighting type these days and hit
back with a strong Earthquake. Earthquake and Stone Edge are no brainers,
they have great coverage and are both boosted by Sand Force. U-turn is
great for scouting and forcing the opponent to switch and get punished by
Stealth Rock. Hammer Arm is there over Brick Break because there is a
significant power difference. Landorus plays more hit and run, so it is most
likely to switch after the first Hammer Arm anyways.

There isn't much else to say about Landorus. I've managed to sweep 4
Pokemon with just Landorus. He is an essential part of the team and really
dominates late-game. Synergy wise, Scizor takes the Ice moves for him and
they can U-turn together. Landorus is also one of my edges against sun
teams.

Scizor
Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
-Bullet Punch
-U-turn
-Pursuit
-Superpower

My good friend Scizor. This guy has always found his way back onto my team
since 4th gen, and with damn good reason. Priority Bullet Punch off his
ridiculous Attack picks off the shrimp in OU, like Smeargle. U-turn is a
momentum changing move and stacks so much damage when Stealth Rock
is up. Pursuit nabs the KO on Starmie and Laiti@s, if I predict correctly.
Otherwise, Bullet Punch gets the job done too. Superpower is just for some
extra coverage. I try to stay away from it since it leaves me at -1 in Atk and
Def, but I won't hesitate to use it if I see the right opportunity.

Scizor is my only Steel type so he has a big role in taking Dragon hits. Sadly,
Bullet Punch can't OHKO Garchomps so I have to slowly dwindle their health
down to about half, then Scizor can finish the job. Scizor does better late
game as well, but I do bring him in early to U-turn and give me some
momentum. His only weakness, Fire, is covered by Tyranitar and Quagsire.

Quagsire

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Scald
-Toxic
-Earthquake
-Recover

Quagsire! I never realized how tough this shit is. Scald burns and Toxic
poisons. Either way, the opponent will be crippled. Then, Earthquake can hit
most Steels and has great coverage overall. The best part is Recover. Just
when you've wasted 5 turns getting Quag to half health, he just regenerates
like it was nothing!

I rely too much on Quagsire. But he pulls through for me consistently. With
double status, he cripples teams single-handedly. Quag takes every Physical
attack and then some. His ability makes enemy boosts useless while he is in,
so he can take the Chomp Outrage and hopefully burn it with Scald. Quagsire
isn't exactly the Achilles Heel of this team, but he is pretty damn close.
Without Quag, I'm just bulldozing my way through.

Gengar
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Substitute/Destiny Bond
-Pain Split

Gengar is frail as shit. But his immunities are so crucial to this team.
Tyranitar attracts Fighting and Ground moves and that's Gengar's cue.
Shadow Ball is a strong move and does good damage to plenty of things.
Focus Blast is for whatever Shadow Ball cannot hit. Substitute is to ease
prediction and to prolong Gengar's life. After a few Substitutes, Gengar can
Pain Split and really damage the enemy(especially Blissey).

Gengar is usually one of my opening Pokemon. He plays early game and
damages a lot of enemies with Shadow Ball and never ending Pain Splits. If
Gengar goes down, it doesn't really hurt me. His job is to open a hole in the
enemy lines and to force switches with his immunities. Right now, I am
considering putting Latios in his spot, but there is a difference between
resisting and downright being unaffected. Another option is Destiny Bond to
play mind games with the opponent. In fact, I just followed my own
advice and Destiny Bond works pretty well.

Conkeldurr
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Guts
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SpD
-Bulk Up
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch
-Payback

Bulk Up is a great set up move. After a Bulk Up, or being statused, Drain
Punch + Mach Punch takes out a lot of enemies by surprise. Even Latios has
trouble against this guy. Payback is to hit the Ghosts/Psychics if I predict
correctly, and it gives great coverage together with the Punches.

The other Achilles Heel of the team. Conk is my ultimate weather counter(its
amazing that it even works). He can take on TTar, Politoed, Abomasnow, and
even Ninetales under certain conditions. But the best part is his Ability, Guts.
Status is no longer a threat to me. After being burned and a single Bulk Up,
Conk can even take on Gliscor.

Final Glance

Threats

..........

Rotom-W: Damn this thing. It's not that I can't beat it, but I
usually end up crippled trying to take it out. Tyranitar might have to get
sacked at times. From there, Scizor can deal some real damage with U-Turn
or Conkeldurr can Drain Punch stall it to death. Or Quagsire can keep using
Scald in hopes of a burn. But even my mighty Quag takes a hefty amount
from Hydro Pump. Gengar, if he gets in alive, can Destiny Bond if need be.

Reuniclus: The problem is, my counters to Reuniclus are also
weak to it. Gengar can Shadow Ball it, but it will just Calm Mind, Recover,
and Sweep. So I have to either sacrifice Tyranitar and hope Focus Blast
misses while I Crunch then revenge kill, or I can start some mind games with
U-Turn and either Gengar or Tyranitar to absorb the Focus Blast or Psychic
respectively. The worst damn part is the jello isn't affected by Stealth Rock,
Sandstorm damage, or status.

Thundurus: Holy shit, I just noticed it has arms. Anyways,
The one thing this has over Zapdos is Focus Blast. But, with some ingenuity,
even Thundurus can be brought down. Quagsire can come in on Thunderbolt
and hope it doesn't have HP Grass. Also, if Sandstorm is up, Landorus can
come in on a Thunderbolt and kill it off with Stone Edge. Lastly, if I can
somehow get it in there and speed tie, Gengar can Destiny Bond.

Other Bulky Waters: Scizor's
U-Turn is the strongest move I have against them, and even if that is strong,
he can only pass to either Quagsire or Conkeldurr, who will both take a good
beating. Quagsire can Toxic them and Recover stall, if they aren't offensive
enough. Conkeldurr just stands there and Drain Punches his ass off. But hey,
it works.

Conclusion

..........

Well, that's my team folks. Not very good against Water types, but what
Sandstorm team is? I'm having trouble editing this team because each piece
has so much value and I feel they can't be replaced. For example, I could
run Reuniclus over Gengar, but I become such a slow team. But it's your
discretion, so thanks you for reading and please rate! Have a great day!

Rotom W could help your bulky water problems. If you dont want to replace a member of your team, give gengar thunderbolt. Finally, I've been using Landorous on my own sandstorm team for quite some time now, and ive found the Rock polish set much more effective than the choice scarf set.
Landorus@Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVS: 252 Speed 252 attack 4hp
Jolly Nature
Moves
Earthquake
Rock Polish
Stone Edge
U Turn
Give this set a try if u please

Hooray for no Excadrill on a sandstorm team!!! :D
I've found that the solution (death) to all bulky waters is Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn is awesome, just comes in and walls every single water (including your beloved quagsire) to hell and back. It also solves your rotom w problem with the insanely powerful power whip. However, this will slow down the pace of your team and so you may not like it. As for reuniclus...I actually don't think your team is that weak to reuniclus. CB scizor takes off 326-386 damage off a 252/252 reuniclus. You have the two most commonly seen "counters" to reuniclus, ttar and scizor, one uturn from scizor to ttar to a crunch that outspeeds spells the death of reuniclus. Someone can check this, I'm not that too cool with calculations, but I believe that this is right.
You may want to run stone edge over payback on conkeldurr. It helps with your thunderus weakness, but payback rarely hits ghost pokemon harder than stoneedge, with the exception of golurk. I've never actually used conkeldurr, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
Good luck with your team!
