[SET COMMENTS]
Sandslash's ability to set Stealth Rock and Spikes, access to Rapid Spin, and nice defensive stats and typing allow for it to be a dominant force in the PU metagame hazard battles. Sandslash is also able to defensively check some of the tier's physical attackers such as Boltund, Klinklang, and Lycanroc-Midnight and set up or remove hazards versus them. Stealth Rock is helpful to chip down the opponent's team throughout a match. Spikes is an alternative option for hazard stacking teams or if you already have a Stealth Rock user on your team, it will assist in whittling a team down much faster. Rapid Spin allows Sandslash to remove entry hazards from its side of the field while keeping your own team's hazards still on the field, which is extremely valuable for teams that rely on hazards to muscle through bulkier teams. Knock Off allows Sandslash to remove items from common switch-ins such as Eviolite from Tangela and Hattrem and Choice Scarf or Heavy-Duty Boots from Unfezant. Toxic allows Sandslash to limit the longevity of counters it cannot break such as Gourgeist-Super, Appletun, and Drifblim. Leftovers is an excellent item for Sandslash to receive passive recovery throughout the match so that it can continue to check physical attackers or set hazards multiple times. Rocky Helmet allows Sandslash to punish physical attackers for making contact with it, which is especially dangerous for Klinklang using Gear Grind. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Sandslash to perform its role as an entry hazard remover throughout the match by not taking damage from entry hazards to come in multiple times throughout the match and spin them away. The speed EVs allow Sandslash to outspeed fully invested non-scarf base 85 Speed Pokemon such as Pinsir and Golduck after a Rapid Spin. If the speed isn't needed for your team, allotting those Speed EVs into Defense will help Sandslash check additional physical attackers such as LO Falinks more reliably.
Since Sandslash's first role to a team is setting up hazards, teammates that can assist in keeping its hazards up such as Spinblockers like Dusknoir and Gourgeist and Defog deterrents like Falinks and Meowstic-F pair quite well with it. Wish passers such as Flareon and Lickilicky pair up with Sandslash by keeping it healthy throughout a match, removing status with Heal Bell, and take special attacks that will quickly eliminate Sandslash. In turn, Sandslash can take on physical attackers, remove hazards, and set hazards to chip the opponent's team. Sandslash struggles to damage Grass-Types and Ghost-Types, so Dark-Types and Ice-Types such as Morpeko, Linoone-Galar, Mr. Rime, and Glaceon all pair well with it. Ice-types are especially effective since they can break Gourgeist and Drifblim. If Sandslash opts to not run Rapid Spin, a different hazard remover such as Mr. Mime-Galar, Drifblim, or Unfezant can pair nicely with it; just note that Defog will remove Sandslash's hazards. Offensive sweepers such as Rapidash-Galar, Lilligant, and Shell Smash Crustle appreciate their checks being whittled down by Sandslash's hazard support. Specially defensive Pokemon such as Klinklang and Throh pair nicely with Sandslash to form a defensive backbone to a team, Circle Throw Throh especially pairs well with hazards. Toxic Spikes users like Mareanie and Roselia pair with Sandslash to form a strong hazard stack core. Toxic Spikes additionally free up Sandslash's moveset by providing poison support for Sandslash's checks.
