2. Introduction
When i started creating this team i was originally doing a challenge where i couldnt drop a single game on the ladder so i was thinking ways and pokemons that can give me good matchups vs the majority of things being used on the ladder. The Pokemons that i chose ended up being some of my favourite mons to use so this team felt super comfortable to me and i used it in all my tournaments (OST 5 times, OU Spring Seasonal twice, Smogtours etc) and we even brought it in other tournaments with my friends like in some French communities, Chinese PL and even SPL. With my group we all enjoyed this build alot and although im planning to use it more in the future i wanted to share it both here and on my YT anyway as its been seen and used already alot so why not.
3. Teambuilding Process
So as i said above i didn't wanna drop a single game on the ladder with it for a challenge i was doing so i made this team with the thought that i gotta be dealing with aton of different matchups to be able to stay undefeated. I started with
for the Offensive matchups as Tinted Lens First-Impression is extremely good vs offense and i ended up adding Specs
for bulkier MUs people spammed with like the
Corviknight-Clef-Weavile core. They together form a super nice volt-turn core supporting each other aton vs their weaknesses. I added Tera Water
for the weather matchups, for dealing with
and
which absolutely annoyed the
core and made the decision to dedicate my tera most of the games there on
as its incredibly difficult to take down this guy with Tera use especially considering the next pokemon i added for Knock Off absorbtion to support Garganacl, Gliscor.
provides ground electric immunity and general breaking vs
teams, opposing Garganacl or Magic Guard
longevity teams, i have
next for all the physical attackers like
and
and finally added
for hazard control, speed-control, momentum and security vs
with Will-o-Wisp. With that said lets talk about each mon in more detail.
4. Each mon important synergies
Lokix @ Silver Powder
Ability: Tinted Lens
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
is super anti-offense with tinted lens first impression aswell as momentum with uturn into
. It can get important damage and put things in range for my other pokemons like
for Iron Crown,
after a few hits into Cinderace, opposing
for my own etc. Its my lead vs
and
but i can also use it late game cuz of its synergy with Cinderace Court Change. It also has great synergy with Garganacl against
so u dont have to risk burns and such going for Knock Off, garg always beats.
Iron Crown @ Choice Specs
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tachyon Cutter
- Psyshock
- Volt Switch
- Focus Blast
im using Choice Specs for raw dmg and important rolls vs
and
esp after tera steel. You can volt switch against birds and
which is big support for our Lokix. Crown tera can be used to not only maximize its damage but mainly to remove the psychic type allowing it to effectively trade with things like
and
. Psyshock is super important vs fat matchups with
and
. Its speedtier is super important vs
and i often even trade it vs its tera ground sub earthpower set just so i effectively get rid of their tera and most of their
with it.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 116 HP / 140 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Facade
- Earthquake
- Protect
is next on the build as a setup sweeper vs more defensive teams. Tera Normal facade does aton of dmg and removed all the ice and water weaknesses which are common pokes and attacks we would be trading against. This way it can effectively destroy something like
and
which we have invested in speed for to tie with it. Its speed also helps vs Taunt Landorus and effectively can give you up to 2 Swords Dances against it. Its fast ground so it helps with
obviously and cuz of its natural bulk it often gives value and trades vs common offensive threats like
and
. Finally it forms a really nice protect core with Garganacl allowing you to stall or even PP Stall and potentially kill threats with Salt Cure or Poisons and Burns from our other members on the team. Finally one of the best ways to get rid of
is Knock Off removing its leftovers so having Poison Heal Gliscor not needing its Toxic orb after a single turn to activate it is super nice synergy between those mons.
Garganacl @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Salt Cure
- Recover
- Protect
is the glue of the team. It puts the team together providing aton of resistances vs very relevant threats and strategies while also enabling offensively doubles and momentum cuz of salt cure. Salt cure allows aggressive predictions and double switches because of how strong it can be for a defensive pokemons like
to be dealing this much damage every turn while not dying forcing things out. Its for the most part our dedicated tera user especially vs hard water types like
and
. Its also our check to weather strategies, trades with tera against
which is super important for this team and puts threats in range perfectly after protects for First Impression Lokix. Its spdef investment helps our team check common special attackers like
and
but vs hyper offensive teams it can also be used to trade vs things like
and
. All that with the help of Tera ofc which is how
performs for the most part.
Pecharunt @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Poison Puppeteer
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Malignant Chain
- Foul Play
- Parting Shot
- Recover
is another very defensive pokemon that provides momentum with partin shot working perfectly for such volt-turn core we are going with Lokix and Iron Crown. Its so defensively strong that its capable of beating most physical attacks that arent steel or dark types so threats like
and the list of checked physical threats goes forever. Especially after
getting banned from OU this pokemon got even more powerful with only a few hard checks like
blocking all its moves except Foul Play which doesn't do that much,
which is able to wall it completely and get a slow salt cure into whatever u switching except we have Gliscor so we fine vs that and ofc special attackers that we gotta be switching out against. We using Tera Dark to remove most of
weaknesses and also allowing us to better check
and all kinds of physical attackers with way stronger Foul Plays. It removes the ground weakness
normally has so often vs
matchups its our tera abuser.
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- Court Change
- U-turn
- Will-O-Wisp
is the last pokemon of the team, its there to deal with pokemons like
(especially if Covert Cloak) fairies like
and
while hitting quite strong with powerful Pyro Balls. Its our hazard control for the team being able to flip matchups like Red Card
lead, Aurora Veil :Ninetales Alolan: and
or
leads into our favour making the matchups vs both longevity spikes teams or hyper offensive teams with dedicated leads easier. Another role
has on this team is to hit
with pyro-balls making
job easier to click first impression or possibly get good momentum turns and opportunities to invite
in and click powerful attacks. It appreciates
owning opposing Gliscor and Garganacl matchups as these are pokemons that can annoy
. Finally it provides a high speedtier for the team for threats like
and
so it works quite well in this structure.
5. Threats to the Team
a. Stall. It is normally extremely painful to deal with stall for all kinds of reasons and with this team u are not gonna have easier time vs it either. Main struggle vs Stall is

which is able to absorb all hits from

and

and throw down hazards. You are able to court change those hazards once but if they place them again and u havent done enough progress until that happens then u not gonna be able to remove them and your Iron Crown + Lokix + Garg core gonna suffer against em. So play aggresively, pressure

with your

(i often lead it and trade vs knock so i can psyshock Blissey after) and pray!
b.

This guy can be annoying because our ground immunity is weak to him unfortunately atleast when its running ice spinner over knock. This means that in order to play around tusk u need to either tera early (

is our dedicated tera most of them time) or dance around Great Tusk with

+

which can eat any hit and spinblock while giving you momentum into

to revenge kill. Careful tho often if u give

a spin especially if its like Bulk Up or Protosynthesis ATK it can go hard vs our team and sweep.
c. Tera Ground Substitute

This Pokemon has coverage for the majority of our team and can cause serious trouble to

which would normally be the check for it cuz after turning into a ground type Salt Cure doesnt break its substitite.
6. Recorded live of the climb
Instead of replays i have recorded a showdown live with my friend PokeaimMD using the team and explaining between the turns our thought process and why we are doing what we doing while also climbing effectively with the core.
This is the video if u wanna check it out https://youtu.be/RlNADQFq2tg and Subscribing would also notify you when other videos like this are posted. It is absolutely free to subscribe and u can remove it whenever u want so if u do u support my channels growth so i appreciate you alot.
