Choice Scarf Tapu Lele is a fantastic revenge killer and late-game cleaner, that is able to revenge kill almost every offensive threat in the metagame including the likes of Mega Garchomp, Mega Lopunny, and Ash-Greninja. In the late-game, when its checks like Heatran, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn are weakened, its Speed tier and great STAB combination lets it sweep opposing teams. However, its relative lack of power means that it misses out on OHKOs on the likes of defensive Landorus-T and offensive Heatran, and it can struggle to break through Pokemon like Corviknight, Galarian Slowking, and Blissey. Focus Blast lets it pressure Steel-types that can tank its STAB moves such as Heatran and Ferrothorn, though it cannot OHKO them. Future Sight can let Tapu Lele's teammates like Urshifu-RS, Mega Lopunny, and Weavile break through their checks like Toxapex and Tangrowth, and these Pokemon can often take advantage of Tapu Lele's checks like Heatran and Blissey to fire off attacks. Aromatherapy can be used to help relieve teammates from status conditions in longer games. Hidden Power Fire can be run in the last slot to 2HKO Mega Scizor while providing an accurate option to hit other Steel-types like Ferrothorn.
Choice Scarf Tapu Lele fits best on offense and bulky offense teams that can offensively pressure its checks and allow it to sweep late-game while also appreciating its cleaning potential and great Speed. It is annoyed by Steel-types like Corviknight, Mega Scizor, and Heatran, so Pokemon that can lure or take advantage of these like Fightinium Z Kartana, Sand Tomb Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Victini are good partners for it. Magnezone deserves a special mention, as it is able to trap and remove some of these Steel-types. Wallbreakers like Kartana, Choice Band Weavile, and Mega Medicham can soften up the opposing team to let Tapu Lele clean up in the late-game. Defensive pivots like Landorus-T, Corviknight, and Slowbro can help Tapu Lele come in safely. Due to its tendency to force a lot of switches, it appreciates having entry hazard support from the likes of Heatran, Greninja, Ferrothorn, and Garchomp.

A Modest nature can be used on Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, as it hits Gliscor, Ferrothorn, and Heatran notably harder, but it loses out on important Speed tiers like a +1 Mega Garchomp, +1 Kommo-o, Arctozolt in hail, and Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Psyshock can be run on Choice Scarf Tapu Lele to threaten Galarian Slowking and Blissey and hit Pokemon such as Calm Mind Clefable and Quiver Dance Volcarona harder, but it is overall less useful than its other moves.
