SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

Interesting that it stands up

not that it wasn't obviously an ursaring evolution before, but especially with the shiny colors and being able to stand, yo ucan really tell now
I wonder if Ursaluna will be treated as significantly taller in the new redesign because it stands up, since base Ursaluna (2.4m) is already significantly taller than Ursaring (1.8m) even while not standing.

Also it occurs to me that if it did change types it would probably be normal steel, since the mud -which is what gave it the ground typing before- is now hard as iron.

I'm still hoping that normal Ursaluna is also available because getting Peat Blocks in LA sucks and (knock on wood) it would be nice if it was easier here

Then I can transition into complaining about not being able to shift day to night through resting instead
I think they’ll give us the items eventually (in DLC 2) to ensure that you can now kinda get everything (regional evolutions etc for what’s available) in both DLCs as it seems we might be able to evolve regional form variants in the Blueberry dome.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ursaluna was Dark/Steel (Which would be kinda meh, since we got Kingambit) because Khu’s blood moon hints were all around dark types. And I do agree that Steel is probably going to happen based on its Dex entry.

altho it’s ability is kinda unnecessary if it is Dark

Every single regional we've seen in the Dome has been Alolan. I don't think we'll be able to shift it over to other habitats, honestly.

Kitakami, being super based on Japanese everything and getting the Ursaluna and having Hisuian Growlithe statues, feels like the best bet between the 2 DLCs.

Ursaluna’s one of my favorite Pokémon ever (Top 10) so seeing it get the special form treatment THIS early is good news for me. Can’t wait to watch the same bear tear up the battlefield for a second time. Really excited to see its story in the DLC and why it’s so freaky.

Ursaluna's defensive stats are already pretty solid all around, that I think it could play defensive well with its new typing, esp if it keeps Bulletproof from normal Ursaluna.

Reminder Bulky Excadrill used to be a thing in BW...

Also even though it looks believable, Steel/Ground is pretty sus. Why would they give it Scrappy on Steroids without actually having Normal or Fighting stab?

As of now, Scrappy is an ability only seen on pokemon that have one or both these stabs. I'm honestly assuming it's Normal + X (which would inherit the Normal type from Ursaring and I find it the most believable) or Fighting/Ground.
Honestly I'd not be surprised if it's still Normal/Ground. Pokemon that completely change type keeping none of their stabs when evolving are extremely rare, even when it comes to regional forms.

Ogerpon’s abilities are so good. It’s hard for me to see it not being OU, at least the fire and base one. A free attack boost and a free speed boost on a mon that should have a 550+ is gonna be great.

Centro is terrible at parsing information, and also mixes his own speculation into actual info which muddies the waters.

For instance, I remember when he reported that Dialga and Palkia’s new forms were called “Lord Forms,” until I actually went looking at the dumped pastebins and (knowing how forms are usually organized in the data) recognized that they were actually called “Origin Formes,” while the whole “Lord Form” thing was referring to the glowing yellow boss nobles. I made enough noise about it over on Reddit that Centro ended up correcting himself.

Basically, lesson is, don’t take anything Centro says as fact unless there’s tangible evidence from the source he’s leeching off of.

Remember that abilities themselves don't make a pokemon, otherwise Shedinja would have been Ubers every generation.

Good ability and BST were not able to keep Galarian Articuno out of lower tiers either. I'd wait to see the movepool and stat distribution, as well as if these "masks" require a held item or not. Requiring a held item may on its own make it awful

Has is ever happened before that a single type pokémon evolved to a dual type that didn't retain its type? I think it's Normal/ Steel
Eevee (Normal -> various types) and Swablu (Normal/Flying -> Dragon/Fairy) have done this before.

It could be like a Dhelmise situation where its ability doesn’t match its typing. Also seeing how Ursaluna-BM gets a new move that’s a Gigaton Hammer clone, it would just be absurdly busted if it got better Scrappy + Normal type Gigaton Hammer + STAB.

I don't think Eevee counts for this considering that's literally its gimmick, hence why I said "extremely rare". The only ones I can remind are Altaria and Alolan Marowak, prolly a couple more I may be forgetting, but it's regardless a extremely rare thing.

This however I could see, if the Gigaton Hammer clone is Normal or Fighting type. Still, I'm banking on Normal + X where X is either Ground or Fighting

He keeps insisting the teal masked form is story only too, but the way the thing has an ability variation and dex entry keeps making me think that too is an assumption based on not having all the information.
I mean it could be an Eternamax situation but feels more like... imagine if you couldn't get origin giratina, you know?

And Altaria only does it with the mega evolution, anyway.

Thinking of it if by any godforsaken chance I'm right and that thing has Ursaluna's BST with Scrappy on steroids, stab GigatonHammer v2, and Normal / Fighting stab, oh lord god save us if Trick Room ever goes up

If you're counting changing the primary type but keeping the pre-evo's single type somewhere, Ursaring -> Ursaluna already pulls off Normal to Ground/Normal.
There's also Goomy -> Sliggoo-H going Dragon to Steel/Dragon (that much iron in the water?!?), Slowpoke-G going Psychic to Poison/Psychic whenever it evolves, and Gimmighoul -> Gholdengo going Ghost to Steel/Ghost.
On a somewhat similar change-primary-type note, there's Mime Jr. -> Mr. Mime-G going Psychic/Fairy to Ice/Psychic.

Was hoping for more of a form change with Ogrepon's masks.

It sure looks like it remains part grass in each of its forms, so now I'm wondering if it's also ghost/grass in its main form...? It would be weird given Poltchageist, but ghost would otherwise be the only type on the lanterns from the key art that is left out from the loyal 3 and Ogrepon. (It can't refer to Poltchageist, who's not on the image, because otherwise dragon should be there for Dipplin).

I didn't expect Bloodmon Ursaluna to go so hard. I also didn't expect it would actually be called Bloodmoon form.

It also seems like the interpretations of Khu's numbers leaks were mons and forms, and were pretty much solved accurately.
