Scizor [QC 0/1]

scizor.png

[OVERVIEW]

* Scizor stands out as a solid setup sweeper and a strong Steel type due to STAB Technician Bullet Punch and Swords Dance.

* Scizor is a strong threat to Fairy, Ice, and Rock type Pokemon thanks to its powerful Technician-boosted Bullet Punch. It also has useful resistances, such as Dragon, Psychic, and Grass. Scizor does well against Flutter Mane and Garganacl, but is checked by Gholdengo and Kingambit without the right coverage.

* Scizor is not without any weaknesses though. Scizor is 4x weak to Fire, Burn makes it much weaker, Psychic Terrain nullifies its Bullet Punch, Reflect and Aurora Veil halves its damage output, and Taunt can stop it from setting up.

* Scizor works well with teammates that provide speed control due to its low speed or Wide Guard support to protect against strong spread Fire moves that Scizor is vulnerable to, such as to Torkoal's Eruption and Hydreigon's Heat Wave. Scizor also appreciates redirection moves, like Amoonguss's Rage Powder and Indeedee-F's Follow Me, as they help Scizor set up without risking damage or disruption.

[SET]
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Bullet Punch
move 2: Close Combat / Thief / Pounce / Tera Blast
move 3: Swords Dance
move 4: Protect
item: Life Orb / Clear Amulet
ability: Technician
nature: Adamant
tera type: Steel / Water
evs: 252 HP / 156 Atk / 100 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

* Close Combat, Thief, Pounce, and Tera Blast each give Scizor coverage. Close Combat covers Steel and Dark types types like Kingambit and Roaring Moon, Thief helps against Gholdengo and Armarouge which would otherwise wall Scizor, STAB Pounce covers against Grass and Psychic types like Meowscarada and Farigiraf, and Tera Blast should only be used with Tera Water Scizor to cover Fire types such as Arcanine and Volcarona.

* Life Orb gives Scizor a boost to its attacks, while Clear Amulet prevents Atk drops like Arcanine Intimidate which can disrupt Sword Dance set ups.

* This EV set enables Tera Steel Scizor to survive Choice Specs Flutter Mane Mystical Fire and Volcarona Heat Wave. Adamant 156 Atk Tera Steel Bullet Punch OHKO's Sylveon, however, Tera Water Scizor requires a Swords Dance boost for the OHKO.

* Tera Steel makes Scizor's Bullet Punches stronger while also removing Scizor's horrible Bug type. Tera Water is a defensive option that can easily tank Fire type moves that Scizor is very weak to.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Bullet Punch
move 2: Close Combat
move 3: U-turn / Thief
move 4: Thief / Iron Head / Fury Cutter
item: Choice Band
ability: Technician
nature: Adamant
tera type: Steel
evs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

* STAB U-turn provides pivoting and helps with positioning and safely brings Scizor's partners without them getting hurt thanks to Scizor's speed, Thief covers against Gholdengo and Armarouge, Iron Head is used in case Psychic Terrain is up and Bullet Punch can't be used, and Fury Cutter is a under looked yet powerful option due to Technician increasing the power of the first hit, the second hit becoming as strong as X-Scissor, and the last hit becoming a 160 BP STAB move.

* Choice Band gives Scizor much more immediate firepower for its STAB Technician Bullet Punches, which it wants to constantly use.

* Adamant is used to make Bullet Punch as strong as it can be. The max attack is to make Scizor's attacks as strong as possible, while the rest is poured into bulk so that Scizor can tank some hits.

* Tera Steel makes Bullet Punch become as strong as it possibly can, which is the move Scizor wants to use most.

There needs to be space before and after the / on the set, just something I noticed. So for example 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 SpD (P should also be capatilized in HP)
Edit : isnt pounce worth mentioning? Its a 75 bp stab move that also lowers speed. Feels like it should definitely be a mention on both sets.

Pounce is fine on SD Scizor but it's better to run Thief or CC. It's secondary effect is also outclassed by Trailblaze's. Pounce isn't as good as Fury Cutter in terms of damage potential.

While that is true, Pounce is still outclassed by CC and Thief. Though Pounce and Trailblaze are p even, and I can see Pounce being better than Trailblaze.
edit: i added it

[OVERVIEW]

* Scizor stands out as a solid setup sweeper and a strong Steel type due to STAB Technician Bullet Punch and Swords Dance.

* Scizor is a strong against threat to Fairy, Ice, and Rock type Pokemon thanks to its powerful with STAB Technician-boosted Bullet Punch. It also has useful resistances, like Dragon, Psychic, and Grass (you may want to expand this section a bit with mentions of Pokémon that Scizor does well against).

* Scizor is not without any weaknesses though. Terastalization functions as a double-edged sword, making Scizor stronger but the Pokemon Scizor is supposed to beat resist it's Bullet Punches (I understand what you mean, but the way you explained it is rather odd because it doesn't apply to Tera Steel, or Tera Fighting, which you should consider, I would probably move this sentence to set comments specifying that it only applies to tera water). Scizor is also 4x weak to Fire, Burn makes Scizor it much weaker, Psychic Terrain shuts down Scizor's main weapon its Bullet Punch, Reflect and Aurora Veil halves Scizor's its damage output which can hamper Scizor's damage output, and lastly, Taunt can stop Scizor it from setting up. (I usually don't like lists, but this one was very well made, good job)

* Scizor works well with teammates that have provide speed control capabilities or Wide Guard support to protect it against strong spread Fire moves that Scizor is vulnerable to, such as to Torkoal Eruption and Hydreigon's Heat Wave. Scizor also appreciates Pokemon with Follow Me or Rage Powder redirection moves, like Amoonguss's Rage Powder and Maushold's Follow Me as they help Scizor set up without worrying about risking of being hurt or disrupted.

move 3: Swords Dance

[SET COMMENTS]

* Close Combat, Thief, Pounce, and Trailblaze each give Scizor coverage. Close Combat helps with Steel types like Kingambit and offers good damage against neutral targets, Thief helps against Gholdengo and Armarouge, which would otherwise wall Scizor, Pounce has STAB and a Technician boost giving it solid damage output and lowering the opponents speed, and Trailblaze covers for Water types like Palafin-Hero and Rotom-W while increasing Scizor's otherwise middling speed.

* Life Orb gives Scizor a good boost to its attacks, while Clear Amulet prevents Atk drops like Arcanine Intimidate which can disrupt Sword Dance set ups.

* Adamant increases Scizor's attack stat, which is important since Scizor wants it's Bullet Punches to be as strong as they can. This EV set focuses more on making Scizor bulkier to make Scizor survive Fire type attacks while in Tera, such as Skeldirge Torch Song and Fire Tera Blast Sylveon. Tera Water Scizor can live a Killowatral Thunderbolt and Abomasnow Energy Ball with this spread. Swords Dance patches up the attack stat, however, 156 Atk Tera Steel Scizor Bullet Punch is enough to OHKO common Sylveon sets without needing a Swords Dance boost. Tera Water Scizor does not achieve this though, as Tera Water Scizor will need a Swords Dance boost.

* Tera Steel makes Scizor's Bullet Punches stronger, while also ridding it of Scizor's horrible Bug type. Scizor loses its 4x Fire weakness, but in turn gains weaknesses to Ground and Fighting and still have a 2x Fire weakness. Tera Water is a defensive option that can easily tank Fire type moves that Scizor is very weak to, at the cost of losing the offensive potential of Tera Steel.

[SET COMMENTS]

* STAB U-turn provides pivoting and helps with positioning and safely brings Scizor's partners without them getting hurt thanks to Scizor's speed, Thief covers against Gholdengo and Armarouge, who Scizor cannot normally harm, Iron Head is used in case Psychic Terrain is up and Bullet Punch can't be used, and Fury Cutter is a under looked yet powerful option due to Technician increasing the power of the first hit, the second hit becoming as strong as X-Scissor, and the last hit becomes a 160 BP STAB move.

* Choice Band gives Scizor much more immediate firepower for its STAB Technician Bullet Punches, which it wants to constantly use.
