[OVERVIEW]
Serperior is the fastest viable Grass-type in DOU, and thanks to Contrary, it has the ability to quickly attain boosts to its otherwise unremarkable Special Attack. Its high Speed and STAB Leaf Storm allow it to beat common threats such as Mega Diancie and Keldeo. Furthermore, its access to Glare in tandem with said Speed allows it to provide a fast form of speed control against opposing Ground-types such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T. However, Serperior is severely hindered by its significant lack of coverage options, forcing it to rely on different Hidden Power types to avoid being stopped cold by several common threats. Serperior's overall offensive impact is also held back by its abysmal initial attacking power, so it absolutely needs a boost or two before being able to pose any sort of real threat; however, when it gets just one boost, its Leaf Storm can OHKO Mega Kangaskhan and 2HKO Cresselia, which is very impressive for a neutrally effective attack.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Leaf Storm is the only notable STAB move that should ever be considered for Serperior, as it allows it to obtain considerable Special Attack boosts quickly. Dragon Pulse is a coverage move that allows Serperior to hit some Pokemon that resist Leaf Storm neutrally, such as Amoonguss, but it's primarily used to OHKO Dragon-types after a boost, particularly Latios and Hydreigon. Hidden Power Ground is another coverage option that can be utilized to OHKO Heatran and prevent Serperior from being walled by other Steel-types that often get in its way, such as Aegislash and Jirachi. However, Hidden Power Rock is an equally viable option that allows Serperior to beat Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y and Rotom-H. Should Serperior have sufficient support against threats that these Hidden Power types are meant to provide coverage against, it can run Glare instead as a means of speed control to make speedy Pokemon, such as Landorus-T, less threatening. Protect is an all-around good move in Doubles, but Serperior especially needs it in order to stall out opposing field conditions, particularly Trick Room and Tailwind.

Set Details
========
Maximum Speed EVs and a Timid nature allow Serperior to make full use of its Speed stat, letting it outspeed base 110 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Latios as well as Pokemon that creep the 110 Speed tier, such as Thundurus and Mega Lucario. With maximum Special Attack EVs, Serperior can make the most of its average initial Special Attack; in conjunction with Life Orb, Serperior can OHKO both Mega Diancie and Azumarill with an unboosted Leaf Storm while also OHKOing Latios and Hydreigon with a +2 Dragon Pulse.

Usage Tips
========
Serperior is fairly one-dimensional; it has very underwhelming power before a Leaf Storm boost, so getting a boost is absolutely necessary in order to apply any amount of offensive pressure upon the opposing team with it. That being said, Serperior should usually be brought in against a foe that is within range to be OHKOed by an unboosted Leaf Storm. However, due to Serperior's middling defenses, it should also usually be brought in after a teammate faints.

Team Options
========
Landorus-T and Mega Diancie serve as excellent partners to Serperior for their ability to check both Talonflame and Thundurus as well as being able to put foes in Leaf Storm's OHKO range with their respective spread moves. Fire-types, such as Heatran, Talonflame, and Blaziken, are also great allies that can beat opposing Steel-types that Hidden Power Ground does not do enough damage to, such as Aegislash and Ferrothorn. They can also get rid of bulky Grass-types that Serperior can't deal with at all, particularly Amoonguss. Pokemon that can rid the field of Fire-types are also great to pair with Serperior. Water-types such as Keldeo and Azumarill are most effective at checking opposing Fire-types, but Dragon-types such as Latios and Hydreigon are also good picks for this role.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Serperior can utilize a defensive set in order to more effectively provide speed control with Glare while also providing support with either Reflect or Light Screen. Hidden Power Fire can be used if the rest of the team is susceptible to opposing Grass-types, but Hidden Power Rock and Ground are generally a lot more useful. Coba Berry can be used to survive Talonflame's Brave Bird and allow Serperior to OHKO it with Hidden Power Rock. Likewise, Focus Sash can be used to survive one super effective attack and preserve Serperior's acquired Leaf Storm boosts. However, forgoing Life Orb prevents Serperior from getting some valuable KOs on Azumarill and Mega Diancie before a boost.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Typing Advantage**: Generally, Fire-types such as Heatran, Rotom-H, Mega Charizard Y, and Talonflame beat Serperior easily, but they can sometimes be taken out by the appropriate Hidden Power after a Leaf Storm boost or two. Kyurem-B, Hydreigon, and Latios can switch in on an unboosted Serperior but have to watch out for boosted Dragon Pulse unless they have Choice Scarf or Haban Berry, although the latter is uncommon. Defensively, Serperior is walled by bulky Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Ferrothorn.

**Speed**: Faster Pokemon that can take advantage of Serperior's paltry bulk have no problem ousting it from the battlefield. In particular, speedy Pokemon such as Talonflame, Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Mega Gengar, and Deoxys-A are all threats that Serperior needs to watch out for.

**Speed Control**: All forms of opposing speed control, bar Icy Wind, mitigate Serperior's typically advantageous Speed tier and leave it very vulnerable due to its relatively low defenses.

Does much of anything not named Brave Bird or Heat Wave (which you can hp ground/rock anyway) ohko serp? If not Coba/Occa Berry is probably better than Sash.

I'd put Life Orb as the first slash since without it Serperior can't guarantee the OHKO on Azumarill at +0 or the HP Ground OHKO and Dragon Pulse OHKO on SubTran and Latios respectively at +2. Incidentally, without it Serperior doesn't even gave a chance, barring crits, at OHKOing Latios, so Kyube is out of the question without a boosting item as well.

Moves
========
  • dragon pulse needs a boost to kill (can't kill Kyurem-B at +0, does like 79% - 93% at +2, does 60 - 71% without life orb; can't kill hydrei and latios without orb)
  • I'd move Focus Sash to OO tbh
  • Thirdly; Occa/Coba Berry to be slashed. I would add Occa or Coba berry as I did calcs based on Bughouse's suggestion; Serperior would live BB or Heat Wave, depending on which berry you pick
  • 252+ SpA Heatran Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Occa Berry Serperior: 178-210 (61.1 - 72.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Life Orb Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Coba Berry Serperior: 212-251 (72.8 - 86.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Other Options
=============
  • Giga Drain can be used for recovery over Hidden Power or Glare it is usually not worth it since Serperior loses coverage on Heatran and cannot spread paralysis
Checks & Counters
===================

**Speed**: Sucker Punch from Bisharp can put a dent on Non-Glare variations of Serperior. Brave Bird or Acrobatics from Talon will OHKO Serperior. Scarfers such as Landorus-T and Kyurem-Black can dent and wear down Serperior. Fake Out from Kanga troubles non-Rocky Helmet Serperiors as well.

Saying that Serp is the most viable speedy Grass-type after Skymin is overselling it a bit, cause Serp is still pretty niche and tricky to use. Say something like "Got a boost in viability after the banning of Shaymin-Sky" instead.

The fourth bullet in the overview could be worded a bit better to be more descriptiveas well. I know this is still just an early skeleton, but points still need to be descriptive. Instead of saying "despite having a very limited movepool it can be realistically versatile and can potentially be very threatening if played right" you could say something like
"Despite having a limited movepool, Serperior is pretty versatile with its coverage options and can potentially be very threatening after a Contrary boost from Leaf Storm."

Explain how Leaf Storm activates Contrary in Moves or Set Details. You gotta say what Contrary does somewhere lol

Otherwise everything else looks pretty ok to me, check with QC before implementing, etc.

Before I QC this, I wanna get this straight first: does the second set even warrant set of its own?

Serperior's main niche in this meta is as a snowballing fast attacker; the second set doesn't take advantage of Serperior's main draw, instead providing negligible damage output, and its supportive capabilities can't compare at all + it's still kinda frail. Simply put, it's trying to do too much. Its supportive moves, Glare especially, splash pretty well regardless on the Special Attacking set and can be used fine on that one. In my opinion, we should only have Serperior as a Life Orb Attacker, the defensive set goes to OO.

Ablast told me that the Defensive set should be axed and sent to OO so yeah

QC. On another note, I think you're joking on some of these bullets but let's take this more seriously shall we.

Overview - number corresponds to the bullets you have right now
  • You didn't mention once here about Contrary + Leaf Storm and its snowball potential. You should o_o
  • 2: I wouldn't mention the banning of Skymin since it's kinda fluff-ish. Just say that it's the fastest offensive Grass-type in the metagame dot
  • 3: While it is the fastest user of Glare, try not to oversell this as it's not even a main slash, but a third one. Try to make it flow as a side-note of sorts.
  • 4: Anything can be potentially be threatening if played right. This is fluff, please remove. Just say that it has few coverage options available and is forced to rely on Dragon Pulse and Hidden Powers.
  • 5: Give examples of said relevant threats. Mega Diancie is one. Think of more.
  • Add that its also prone to opposing speed control sans Icy Wind (which it can take advantage of lol), since it takes away its Speed advantage and lets it become more prone to attack.
Set
  • Focus Sash is bad and should be axed. It doesn't help at all with its power problem. It's not like Serp needs Focus Sash to actually get a hit in like Bisharp, and it's not Deo-A level of frailty.
Moves
  • Spam Leaf Storm is a usage tip (which probably needs more explanation too, like on the "why should I do this" part). Just say what Leaf Storm is to Serperior: a powerful STAB move that at the same time gives it a +2 boost to SpA every time it uses it thanks to Contrary.
  • Dragon Pulse: hits Dragons such as?
  • Tell how Glare supports the team / what it does: gives teammates the Speed advantage. Explain as appropriate
  • Protect: Mention that it also lets it stall out field conditions such as Trick Room and opposing Tailwind.
Usage Tips
  • Say first that Life Orb provides a noticeable boost to its damage output before delving into more specific examples.
  • Axe the Focus Sash mention
Usage Tips
  • "however serp can ohko a few things unboosted with life orb" would be axed / adjusted as LO will be the only item
  • First and foremost, mention that its offensive presence can snowball really easily thanks to its STAB providing it with boosts
  • After you mention "spam Leaf Storm" say something about using the appropriate coverage moves when needed.
  • Say something about it being hard to switch in lellers
Team Options
  • Before you delve into the FWG tag, mention it liking teammates that can take out opposing Fires. Mention Waters, along with other examples you can think of.
  • I reckon that spread attackers work well since they can effectively put foes into the KO range of Leaf Storm. Mega Diancie is one.
OO
  • Add the Defensive set here, along with a separate Focus Sash bullet since we axed it.
  • "light screen over reflect" to be axed and lumped in the Defensive set bullet
Checks and Counters
  • Typing Advantage: imo the better word would be "appropriate" as in "...taken about by the appropriate Hidden Power"
  • Speed Control: Elaborate on TWind, TR, and TWave. Give users with advantageous matchups.
  • Add a Speed tag. Say that faster mons can pummel at its paltry bulk. Mention Talonflame, Scarf Lando-T which can U-turn, and more that you can think of.

its defenses are not wet toilet paper level at all
taking advantage of icy wind, while cute, is not nearly important enough to be in the overview (def fine to keep in speed control)

[Overview]
"Serperior sets itself apart from other Grass-types by being the most viable one in terms of speed and offensive output" rephrase this because, I'm gonna be complete honest, it's confusing to read. How about "Serperior is the fastest viable Grass-type Pokemon in DOU, and thanks to its ability, Contrary, it has the ability to quickly stack boosts to its otherwise unremarkable Special Attack."

"Serperior is also backed up by its great Speed tier, which allows it to blaze past all sorts of prevalent threats, such as Mega Diancie and Keldeo." the bolded part is completely redundant after the first line. Change it to something like, "its high Speed and Grass-type STAB allow it to beat common threats such as..."

"Furthermore, its access to Glare in tandem with said Speed stat allows it to provide a form of speed control, even over opposing Ground-types such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Excadrill," remove Excadrill as it is irrelevant, and perhaps just mention another way the fast-Glare is useful, as 99% of the time Landorus-T is going to U-Turn off of Serperior, and other Ground-types are not going to be staying in on Serperior.

"Serperior's overall offensive impact is also mitigated by its abysmal initial attacking power, therefore requiring that it gets up a boost or two before being able to pose any sort of threat; and even then, it fails to OHKO many relatively bulky Pokemon, such as Kyurem-B" Kyurem-B, at least the current spread on the dex, is a 18.8% chance to OHKO with the current set, pick something better for this. Or perhaps, even better, simply state that it needs to get up a boost or two to become threatening, because at +2 it OHKOs bulky Kangaskhan with Leaf Storm, and 2HKOs support Cresselia, which are both very impressive for a non Super-Effective hit.

[Team Options]
"Pokemon that can rid the field of Fire-types, however, are also great to pair with Serperior", remove the 'however' because it sounds like synergy is some sort of plot-twist.

[Checks and Counters]
"Kyurem-B, Hydreigon, and Latios can switch in on an unboosted Serperior but may need to watch out for Dragon Pulse when boosted" they "may have to" should be "have to" unless they're Haban berry or scarfed

Due the above for 3/3

Moves
========
Leaf Storm is the only notable STAB move that should ever be considered for Serperior, as it allows it to obtain considerable Special Attack boosts quickly. Dragon Pulse is a coverage move that allows Serperior to neutrally hit some Pokemon that resist Leaf Storm neutrally, such as Amoonguss, but it's primarily is used to OHKO Dragon-types after a boost, particularly Latios and Hydreigon. Hidden Power Ground is another coverage option that can be utilized to OHKO Heatran, but can otherwise be used to and prevent Serperior from being walled by other Steel-types that often get in Serperior's its way, such as Aegislash and Jirachi. However, Hidden Power Rock is an equally viable option that allows Serperior to beat Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y and Rotom-H. Should Serperior have apt sufficient support against threats that these aforementioned (I expected better from you tsk tsk -_-) Hidden Powers types are meant to provide coverage against, Serperior it can run Glare instead. Glare can be used as a means of speed control that makes speedy Pokemon, such as Landorus-Therian, less of a threatening. Protect is an all-around good move in Doubles, but Serperior especially needs it in order to strategize around its less-than-desirable defenses (what are you trying to say here?) and to stall out opposing field conditions, particularly Trick Room or and Tailwind.

Coba Berry can be used to survive a Talonflame's Brave Bird and catch a surprise OHKO on opposing Talonflame allow Serperior to OHKO it with Hidden Power Rock. Likewise, Focus Sash can be used to live survive one any super(space)effective attack once and preserve Serperior's acquired Leaf Storm boosts. However, the loss in forgoing Life Orb prevents Serperior from getting some valuable KOs on Azumarill and Mega Diancie before a boost.
