Sorry for the delay, people. Let's get this ball rolling!

Hello everyone, guess who's back for another sizzling warstory! I realize I do kind of ramble at the beginning and you guys have waited long enough, so this time I’ll just cut it short and present you an enjoyable match I had recently. I’d say this match is more of a player showcase if anything else.

Today's opponent will be celever, an avid NU poster in his own right and whom I've battled not long ago prior to his match, with me using one of several variations of my team. This match however proved to be much more interesting, and without further ado, let's introduce the fighters!
WARNING! THIS IS A LONG FIGHT, SO BEAR WITH ME NOW!

It's my shuffling team against celever's sun team! The instant obstacle that stands out is Vileplume, who soaks up Toxic Spikes that would ruin all but Tropius and itself, and isn't SR weak like Tropius, so wearing down Vileplume is my first priority. Stealth Rock can do more damage to all his members than Spikes, so unless he leads off with Rapidash or a potential Sleep Powder lead, Metang can get the Rocks up.

No surprises there, I proceed with my game plan in setting up Rocks while celever does the same or set up Sunny Day.

Looks like celever chooses to set up Sun first, though I would've preferred to setup SR first to avoid burning Sun turns. This leads me to think an aggressive switch to Rapidash would commence, so I decide to scout with Earthquake.

The switch doesn't happen, and he gets up SR while taking small damage from EQ. Doing this can lull celever into believing EQ is the strongest move I have (eschewing Meteor Mash for Bullet Punch/Pursuit/Toxic what not), so he may be tempted to stay in or switch to his Chlorophyll sweepers, so I switch moves into Meteor Mash, knowing Rapidash would hesitate to come in now.

Tropius switches into a decently strong Meteor Mash, which when coupled with SR instantly uses up its Sitrus Berry that is Harvested back just as quickly. It could be a Subseeder, but the threat of Flying-type moves means I shouldn't switch to Roselia too hastily, so I stay in to smack it again.

While Dracoyoshi8 recovers from his derp moment, Rapidash still can't get its act together and essentially faceplants itself into the ground once more. In my defense I could have Recovered, but I wouldn't have gone unscratched. Meanwhile, in comes my prime target, aka the hardest target for me to wear down in this match: Vileplume. However, sun isn't up, meaning he can't raze me with Solarbeam just yet (I know this from our previous battle). I take this golden oppurtunity to try and burn him. Even if he does have Aromatherapy he'll be distracted to use it instead of beating down my team with its STAB.

Licky takes a Solarbeam to the face and faces a 2HKO, only for the sun to wear off when it matters most. Vileplume has 3 options and can only choose one due to the risk of Dragon Tail. Of course, celever does not know this as he may predict me to simply Wishtect again. It could hit me with Sludge Bomb and hope to poison/crit me so that Licky is out of the picture, he could heal up for himself with Moonlight or Aromatherapy, or he could try a last ditch support move in Sunny Day, which can fuel his and his teammates’ Solarbeams, though Licky could easily stall out 4 turns of Sun.

I’ll be honest here, I wasn’t expecting to survive that one. I simply wanted to sac Licky to Solarbeam on the final turn of Sun, have Liepard Encore the Solarbeam to force Eggy to charge it, then alternate between Sub and Foul Play to evade direct hits and strike back accordingly. Synthesis puts Exeggutor back at a respectable amount of health and is promptly phased out for a near dead Regirock. celever was obviously frustrated and fires a Solarbeam, either realizing that Eggy does not need much health to go for a sweep so long as Sun remains active…or he just wants to smack Licky in his smug face (who can blame him?). Eggy will be near dead next time he enters the field, but for now Regirock isn’t doing so hot either.

Tit for tat eh? Frillish gets his just desserts and succumbs to hax (I have Scald along with Will-o-Wisp primarily to overcome freeze hax :P). I’m actually in a dilemma now, because I’m sceptical about whether Regirock goes down to Foul Play or not. Having Licky Dragon Tail it isn’t an option, as Regi can Drain Punch enough health to survive the hazards with just about the same health remaining, meaning Liepard isn’t anymore likely to KO while Licky tries in vain to finish off Regirock. It’s now or never.

I apologize if I sounded arrogant there, but I just wanted to give celever the heads up. There’s literally no way Exeggutor is getting out of this one. It has Solarbeam, Psychic, Sunny Day and Synthesis. 3 of those moves are useless in the face of Liepard and its Encore. Solarbeam, Eggy’s best and only hope, requires the recharge as soon as the two remaining sun turns are up, which are easily stalled by Substitute. Liepard can then lock Eggy into non-sun Solarbeam, and putting what I’ve said earlier into effect, I can alternate between Sub and Foul Play to take the game. Checkmate.

After giving Dracoyoshi8’s suggestion some serious consideration (lol), it’s time for honourable mentions!
: Setup SR which wore down Tropius and Rapidash nicely along with wearing down the rest of celever’s team. CritTang was kinda of a douche though.
: If it wasn’t for his presence, Toxic Spikes would have dismantled celever long ago.
: This pink blob of NU that just. Won’t. Die. That along with his stalling and phazing capabilities makes him infuriatingly annoying to beat down, what with essentially half the battle being Wish + Protect.
: Drain Punch was pretty much the only reason it survived for as long as it did. In fact, it could only be stopped by Frillish after Metang and Roselia went down.
: While no spinblocking was done in this match, he was able to halt Regirock’s pseudo-recovery and land the burn that sealed Vileplume’s fate.
: ….Poor guy. He’s either my win condition in many matches or just sits back and relaxes, but this is one of the few times he went down hard without doing anything.
: Little did celever know, this crafty feline was ready to stop him every step of the way. +4 Tropius? Foul Play. Rampaging Sawsbuck or Rapidash? Foul Play. The only pokemon it did manage to actually stop is Exeggutor, but that merely demonstrates one of many ways it can easily dance around such renowned NU threats. Liepard may be an annoying prick to most (if not all of you), but I see great uses with that 106 base Speed and priority Encore in this metagame. I’d even go so far as to say Liepard deserves its #19 spot on the NU usage stats.

And also special mention to celever! He continued the battle despite it going south for him at the beginning, brushed off the bad luck with stride and played like an all-around good sport! I enjoyed our match and even made me feel good that I got paired up against a player such as himself :D.
I’ve essentially made it a trend that I post a warstory every month and have the last post edited on the 13th day of that month (weird, huh?). You can look forward to more in the future, and may this first screw-up be my last (XP)!

Oh man punchshroom, that was truly the battle of battles for me. I took a lot of things out of the battle that helped me improve that draft of the team, whereas the sun stall team I created later on using some of the pokemon show-cased here (and which is also an rmt!) also took very important advice from this.
(Also thanks for all the good things said about me, not what I was expecting coming onto this :P)
I have to give props to you though, you read me practically perfectly (except for when I played you with regirock turns 44 and 45 :P) and made every switch that you should have. It really was truly fun and was the longest NU battle I have had yet (the second coming a little later that day at 50 turns exactly). Main 3 things coming from this;
1) Liepard is actually a threat
2) Lickilicky is a bitch
But most importantly, 3) Punchshroom is a great guy.

Despite how long of a post this was, it was a lot of fun to read! What a great battle where hax reared its ugly head but did not ruin things completely. It was also really nice to see that a team that was built around shuffler Riolu did not need to use Riolu in order to achieve the victory.

Also, Lickilicky is a MONSTER. :)
